Reissue of 2018 debut on 2 Color Vinyl, black & milky clear. Note includes members of Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. More than anything else, Oh Boy is a celebration of teenage fandom and friendship. Each song is "about" something else, of course: a betrayal, a breakup, new love, parenthood. The usual stuff. And we're hardly teenagers. Yet somehow Massage feels like the kind of band you were in back in high school. We were friends first. We all had other lives. We started playing music almost by accident. (Michael wanted to learn drums; Alex wanted to relearn guitar after playing bass in the Pains of Being Pure at Heart; Andrew and David invited themselves to their second practice.) We made a playlist of songs we loved hundreds of them long before we recorded anything: the Feelies, the Go-Betweens, East River Pipe, the Lemonheads, the Breeders, Flying Nun, Sarah Records. Alex and Andrew started writing songs the way kids do to sound like their heroes. No matter how we tried, though, the songs half Alex's, half Andrew's came out sounding like "Massage": scrappy, catchy, minimalist, and sincere, with Gabi's harmonies elevating each track. Every Monday after practice, we went to Jay's Bar for beers and poutine. There was no point to any of this. We were just having fun. Then one day we realized we were a band. Oh Boy is our attempt to capture this easy alchemy on tape the strange magic of a bunch of amateurs coming together, finding their own wavelength, and making something out of nothing. We couldn't have asked for a better partner in crime than our pal Jason Quever of Papercuts, who recorded us on random weekends over the course of two years. We hope the result sounds as loose, low-key, idiosyncratic, and ultimately indelible as the bands that inspired us - the ones you already know, and the ones that are still just teenagers goofing off in some suburban garage.

French artist Trudge returns to Lobster Theremin with his debut LP No More Motivation arriving on March 18th with a genre-bending and original masterstroke; charged as it is cerebral. The album's concept points to the artist's tumultuous relationship with music; plagued by life events and the looming shadow of tragedy. That same relationship however, has led to an album of nuance, a cathartic whirlwind that pushes and pulls from one part of the psyche to the next.

From the laden house sounds found in his earlier work, to the hard-hitting emotive techno we hear today, both Trudges’ personal and artistic evolution runs parallel, drawing between the lines of introspection and dance music’s modern functionality. Bangkok Radio kicks off proceedings with a reminiscent drive through the city's bustling landscape, as space unfolds the further we travel from the hustle and bustle of daily life. No Motivation, Meaningless is a nod to the producer's headspace - burdened by the unpredictability of reality and it’s governing influence on art; echoing throughout the entire album.

Mazzomba explores the duality of light and dark; heavily submerged sounds can be heard melting below the surface, as airy synths create an ethereal glow - acting as our torch through the crud-infested trench. The album's interlude Berserk provides a rest bite, an ambient dreamscape laced with deeply layered textures - casting warm fluorescent light amongst the clouds as balance is restored.

Dead Orange and Gradient demonstrate the artist's knact for intelligent sound-design and world-building soundscapes, while Unghosted and Punishments sees Trudge venture into raw and unwavering compositions created for the dance-floor. Closing the album is Blue Ritual, a thought-provoking piece that has the ability to transport and heal. It’s introspective layers point to the changing winds to come - rounding off an album not binded by genre, but an eclecticism that characterizes an artist true to his craft.

Gideon Nxumalo was a key figure during the formative years of South African jazz in the 1950s, helping shape the emerging South African jazz sound as a pianist and composer and contributing to the scene as a radio presenter, music teacher and arranger. His recorded output as bandleader/composer is comprised of three iconic albums from Jazz Fantasia (1962) to Gideon Plays (1968) to Early-Mart (1970).

Early-Mart was Gideon Nxumalo's tribute to his friend and musical compatriot, drummer Early Mabuza (Castle Lager Big Band, Mankunku Quartet), who died in 1969. Nxumalo assembled what journalist and observer Leslie Sehume reports was a 14-piece band for the album, which was recorded during a legendary overnight session in February 1970 and released just months before Nxumalo's own death on 24 December 1970.

The official soundtrack to Derek Jarman's 1984 short film "Imagining October", with music recorded by Derek's friend and collaborator Genesis P-Orridge (Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle), and Dave Ball (Soft Cell, The Grid). Recorded at DJM recording studios in Theobalds Road, London. Limited Edition 12" vinyl featuring a beautiful etched B-Side. Features liner notes by James Mackay (Jarman's producer, collaborator and archivist). Derek Jarman put together a programme of films for the London Film Festival, reflecting the cutting edge of the London avant-garde of the time. Recorded at the same time as "The Angelic Conversation", "Imagining October" was filmed in the Eisenstein Museum in Moscow, Vladimir Mayakovsky's grave at Novodevichy Cemetery, the GUM department store facing red square, and the fire temples of Baku in Azerbaijan. The painting sequences with a group of soldiers (Angus Cook, Stephen Thrower, Peter Doig and Keir Wahid) was filmed in London. Jarman considered it one of the best, if not the best, of his shorter works. It was intended as an agit-prop work and the combination of music and imagery remains powerful to this day.

Some are gentle and some are some are full of rage, but all of them are defiantly sensitive, literate and independent. (Some things haven't changed.) Maxophone, from Milan, formed in 1973 as a six-piece with an unusual assortment of instruments, due to their past experience as music students. A band of great talents and musicianship, their only LP, released in 1975, came too late to compete with the most important Italian bands of the genre and went sadly unnoticed.

"Maxophone", released on the Produttori Associati label (along with Duello Madre one of the few ventures in rock records by this label) is a marvellous album, full of dreamy atmospheres and complex horn arrangements, with good vocal parts in a Genesis style and is nowadays considered as one of the best Italian prog records of all times. Noon Garden is an exotic psych-pop odyssey from one of the founding members of Flamingods. Noon Garden has received support from the likes of Clash and The Line Of Best Fit.. British born with Nigerian & Jamaican heritage, Prest spent his childhood living in Bahrain surrounded by people, like himself, who were all living on an island away from their homeland. Seeing the world from a young age and the experience of 10 years of globe-trotting touring with Flamingods are imprinted on his new project and have been a huge influence on shaping Noon Garden's tropical adventurism. As a talented multi-instrumentalist Charles has written, self-produced and played all the parts on the single himself. Noon Garden says of the album: "This debut was an experiment to get to know myself better. Writing music is a therapeutic process for me and it's taken about eight years on and off to finish this album by myself, to try understand what it was exactly that I wanted to say lyrically and explore sonically. The album's lyrics have shape-shifted so much with time but they take a curious look at the human experience; in my case growing up and soaking up a lot of cultures from an early age in the Middle East, the UK and briefly in Singapore. It's a reflection on what's past and what's yet to come, my connection with others over the years and how that inevitably shapes your outlook on what's around you. All of this told through the lens of psychedelia which has always given me a sense of possibility.

Vinyl of new RZA LP, who reprises his own Bobby Digital Production Persona for this one, produced in association with DJ Scratch.Back in 1998, RZA had already cemented his status as Wu-Tang Clan's man behind the boards, producing the entirety of the group's respective solo albums. But when it came to his own breakout moment, the producer opted to introduce the world to Bobby Digital, a cartoonishly hedonistic mad-rapping alter-ego and grew so fond of the character that he released another album under the moniker before finally delivering 2003's Birth of a Prince as the RZA. Now it seems Bobby Digital is back in the picture and potentially set square up with his host. On Friday, RZA announced a new album, RZA vs. Bobby Digital, with the release of the hard-hitting new single, "Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater." According to a press release, production on the album is handled by DJ Scratch. "Giving Scratch the reins as a producer and me taking the reins as an MC, that's what frees me up creatively and lets me play more with lyrical gags and lyrical flows because I don't have to be focused on everything," the producer noted in a statement. The new single marks the second Bobby Digital drop of the year, following "Pugilism," which was slated to be featured on the long-rumored project, The Cure, but seems to be a part of another upcoming collection of songs under the moniker titled Digital Potions. However, neither of those projects have a firm release date at the moment.

Maybe Holodrum were destined to start at this point. This might be the first time they've all officially worked together, but between Emily Garner (vocals), Matthew Benn (synth/bass / production), Jonathan Nash (drums), Jonathan Wilkinson (guitar), Sam Shjipstone (guitar/vocals), Christopher Duffin (sax/synth) & Steve Nuttall (percussion) they've shared bands, mixed each other's records, promoted live shows and made music videos together in and around Leeds. As Holodrum, this is the 7 piece's debut album, but the interlocking grooves and hot headiness of their repeato-rock-via-CBGBs dopamine hits have in one way or other been fermenting for years. "When it comes to doing music most bands fall between two extremes of doing it for some goal or as an end to itself" says Shjipstone. "I think Holodrum is about the joy and complexity of living, and I just hope to god everyone gets to have a good time doing it." Ultimately the core of the group comes from Shjipstone and his former Hookworms bandmates Benn, Nash and Wilkinson. Right off the back of their second album 'El Refugio' which was released in November 2021 via Fuzz Club Records, Mexican post-punk/krautrock group Sei Still are back with a 'Fuzz Club Session' LP that's due out January 21st 2022. Having upped sticks from Mexico City to Berlin, Sei Still's Fuzz Club Session was recorded live at Berlin's Monoton Studio back in October 2020 and is comprised of five tracks from the newly-released 'El Refugio' LP: 'Esperando' (later titled 'Saldados Caidos' on 'El Refugio'), 'Hombre Animal', 'Las Puertas De La Noche', 'Me Persigue' and 'Se Asoma el Sol' (later 'Solsticio'). 'El Refugio' and the session LP set to be released in support capture a new era for Sei Still. The expansive Krautrock jams heard on their 2020 self-titled debut have evolved into a dark, motorik post-punk sound that owes far more to 70s punk, goth-rock and Spanish New Wave than any kosmische travellers. The session is released on 180g black or white vinyl with a printed inner sleeve and is accompanied by a series of videos recorded during the session.

Parallel Traces of the Jewel Voice by dj sniff is a project that takes inspiration from historical narratives and personal memories constructed around The Jewel Voice Broadcast (Gyokuon Hoso) that took place on 15th August 1945. Contrary to common belief, Emperor Hirohito did not speak live on air to announce the surrender of Japan on this day. Instead, two lathe-cut discs with his recorded voice were skilfully mixed and played by NHK engineer Shizuto Haruna. Haruna’s proto-DJ/turntablist performance was heard not only in Japan but also throughout the colonized territories in Asia, marking the end of World War II and Japanese rule.

Interested in these aspects which often have been overlooked within the Japanese narratives of this historical event, dj sniff conducted research in both Taiwan and Japan. Over the course of 3 years he collected various materials that include; interviews and field recordings, audio samples extracted from phonograph discs and recordings sessions with improvising musicians, and a re-reading of the Imperial Rescript on Surrender in Chinese. These were used to compose two compositions that are paired differently depending on their distribution format.

The vinyl release is a multi-sided disc with two parallel grooves cut on one side, which in effect plays a different composition depending on where the stylus is cued. The other side has no audio but features two silkscreened lines that refer to how Haruna played the original lathe-cut discs. For the digital release, each composition is independently assigned to the left and right channel and is heard simultaneously.

Additionally, an extensive text written by dj sniff accompanies this release. Sniff uncovers technical details of the recording and broadcasting of the emperor’s voice that took place over 75 years ago. He also reflects on his encounters with the elderly community in Taiwan who spoke fluent Japanese and shared their personal stories after listening together to records from their childhood.

New school techno pioneer Avision will release his debut album ‘In My Mind’ on Ellum Audio this winter.

Avision grew up around the rich club culture of New York City and is now part of a new wave of artists defining the contemporary techno landscape. In just a couple of years, the American has become an absolute mainstay on labels like Drumcode, Machine, and We Are The Brave. His hard-hitting productions have found their way into the record bags of tastemakers like Adam Beyer, Maceo Plex and Chris Liebing. At the same time, he has been featured everywhere, from The Brooklyn Mirage and Time Warp in New York to festivals like Elrow, The BPM Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and Dockyards. Now he offers up ‘In My Mind’, a widescreen artistic statement across 13 immersive tracks.

Says the artist, “I’m truly proud to share ‘In My Mind’ with the world, as I feel like this is another side of music that people haven’t heard from me. The LP kicks off with ‘Real Talk’, wasting no time getting going on a lush wave of Detroit-style techno full of hi-tek soul. 'Cut The Rope' features Robert Owens, the legendary house vocalist who lights up the deep, driving house drums with a typically impassioned vocal. The energy levels stay high on 'No Disco' with its oversized hi-hats, nimble bassline and chattery claps, while 'Baby' traps you in metallic techno loops with a playful vocal sample. After the bright lights of lead single 'Contrast,' and grinding peak time weapon 'In My Mind' is ‘Ground Rule’, an atmospheric spoken word interlude about NYC.

The album’s second half kicks off with the far-sighted cosmic pads of 'I'll Take You' with Xander and has you lost in another world. There is angst in the tense synth loops of interplanetary techno cut 'Your Soul' and hands-in-the-air trance energy on 'Where I Want To Be.' The monstrous 'All Night' is another wall of rich synth sound over big drums, and 'Lost Symmetry' then releases the pressure with a more dreamy melodic vibe built on tumbling breakbeats. 'In Your World' closes in an uplifting fashion across eight minutes of cantering techno and epic synth work.

‘In My Mind’ is an accomplished and adventurous album that takes melodic techno in bold new directions.

In 1954, 12 year old Jerry Williams, then performing under the name Little Jerry Williams, made his first recording for Mechanic Records, a blues stomp with a shockingly mature vocal performance. Through the 60"s Williams' career developed with a number of successful singles, including 'I'm the Lover Man' and 'Baby You're My Everything', as well as writing and producing hits for Dee Dee Warwick, Doris Duke, and Patti LaBelle and the Blue Belles. It was in 1970, however, that the full extent of Williams' eccentric creative genius was unleashed on the world for the first time, with the birth of his musical alter-ego, Swamp Dogg. Created to 'occupy the body while the search party was out looking for Jerry Williams, who was mentally missing in action due to certain pressures, mal-treatments and failure to get paid royalties on over fifty single records,' the Swamp Dogg alias, still in use today, allowed Williams to create music that was bolder, raunchier, and more honest to his creative instincts. This playfully titled release features David Javelosa (on synth and vocals) along with Meg Brazill (on bass and vocals) plus drummer Todd “Rosa” Rosencrans. Side One features five studio tracks, none of which were included on the band’s 1981 Posh Boy LP, Life After Breakfast. Three of these tracks were recorded in ‘82; there’s no information regarding the provenance of the other two songs. The records’ second side collects five live recordings, capturing Los Microwaves onstage in New York City (The Peppermint Lounge) and Boston as well as at San Francisco’s own I-Beam, a venue that often played host to the band. Those tracks date form roughly the same ear, 1980-83. Sonically the songs variously recall Blondie, Flying Lizards, Gang of Four and a far less dour Human League. Importantly, the band rocks, even when it’s employing a spare drum kit, solid but elemental bass, and monophonic analog synthesizers. The stripped down aesthetics of the group – necessitated by its minimalist instrumental approach – are nonetheless thrilling. Even if you weren’t there in 1980, this’ll take you back.

The Ethiopians were one of Jamaica’s most popular bands during the late ska, rocksteady and early reggae periods. The much loved harmony group began working with the legendary producer Carl ‘Sir J.J.’ Johnson after a series of successful ska and rocksteady hits. This collaboration resulted in some of the biggest reggae hits of the late Sixties and early Seventies. Most notable hits were “Everything Crash”, “What A Fire”, “Feel The Spirit”, “Hong Kong Flu” and “Woman Capture Man”, which are all included on their 1969 debut album Reggae Power. The album cover features a photo of future Carry On Girls-actress Pauline Peart. Reggae Power is available on black vinyl.

The film itself, directed by Neil Jordan (The Crying Game, Breakfast On Pluto), and based on the screenplay by Angela Carter and Neil Jordan, is a modern allegorical adaptation of the classic Grimm fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, symbolising sexual awakening, duality and liberation. The stellar cast features Sarah Patterson, Angela Lansbury, Stephen Rea, David Warner, and Danielle Dax. "There is a sense of awe and enchanted wonder captured in its fairy tale sound, swooping with cascading violins and dark mysterious undercurrents that bubble below the surface... Lawrence English teams up with Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart once again for another voyage into ambient music’s punishing underworld. It’s their gloomiest slab to date - unfurling nightmarish Lynchian drones and seismic, overdriven rumbles that sound like a Thomas Köner and Wolf Eyes soundtrack to Dante’s Inferno. If the gaseous, clouded noise of ‘Material Interstices’ sounds as if it could be snatched from one of David Lynch’s most unsettling dream sequences, we have to assume that’s completely intentional. The inspiration for the album came from two of English’s recurring dreams, one of which had recently re-emerged. When English chatted to Stewart about it - a labyrinthine subterranean horrorscape of concrete and iron underneath his house - Stewart related to having unusual sleep patterns. So the music emerged from this midnight realm, and illustrates English’s Tetsuo-inspired industrial fantasy in grim detail. Those expecting the beauty and charm of English’s lighter material might be in for a shock. This is vantablack level darkness, inspired by 1980s industrial tape music, blurry noise and the darkest of dark ambient records. Think the bleakest end of Dean Hurley, Maurizio Bianchi, Lustmord or The Haxan Cloak, but assembled to trigger near hypnagogic states. There’s an intentionality about “Material Interstices” that feels knotted to its nocturnal inspiration - English and Stewart simultaneously invoke nostalgia, dread and wonder, recalling industrial music’s rich legacy but suggesting its future might not be entirely written just yet.

"I got heavily into synths, hugely inspired by Fad Gadget and a lot of the other Daniel Miller signings for Mute in the early 80s. But there wasn't a female community of musicians in that scene that I could really look to as an example, so it took a while to find my feet", says Karin. ,I love pop music but I always need to dig deeper, evolve and find new territory. I easily move from Throbbing Gristle to Beyonce and back again." After a year of sold-out performances at the 1.400 capacity Folketeatere in Oslo as the lead in Les Mise'rables, touring the world with A°rabrot, and becoming a parent; Karin Park released Church Of Imagination, her first new album in five year, in early 2020. One of the most experimental bands of the Italian Prog scene, Dedalus were founded at the beginning of the '70s by Michele Bonansone (keyboards, cello, vocals) and Marco Di Castri (guitar, saxophone) in Pinerolo, near Turin.

Their first eponymous LP consists of instrumental jazz-rock compositions, influenced by artists like Nucleus, Miles Davis, Soft Machine, Stockhausen and many other musical innovators of the time. "Dedalus" was originally released in 1973, and in the same year the band took part at the Avantgarde and New Trends Festival in Naples, being pointed as the real revelation of the event.

The album, enclosed in one of the most peculiar Italian Prog artworks by Cesare Monti, already contains some of the avantgarde hints which would be fully developed in the following "Materiale per tre esecutori e nastro magnetico".

Franco Cerri is considered by many the best Italian guitarist and one of the best guitarists and 'music stylists' that European jazz has ever produced. He began his long and prolific career in 1945 with Gorni Kramer and in 1949 he accompanied Django Reinhardt. In the '50s he collaborated with great jazz masters. “It Became Crystal” by Blue Sharks is an exclusive release by Redi Edizioni Musicali, an historical company from Milan that, in addition to curating the digital catalogue of Edizioni Leonardi’s library music and sonorizzazioni, is also re-printing faithful vinyl reproductions of the most prestigious titles from Leonardi’s catalogue. “Musiche per un Telefilm” is the second title in the Redi Edizioni library music LP reissue series. Originally released in 1970 on Leo Records label, this musical masterpiece consisting of 19 tracks for 19 different musical themes, completely immerses the listeners in an ambience of both tension and anguish but also fun and relaxation, just as if they were in their very own television show! Antonio Riccardo Luciani, composer and keyboard player, was one of the most prolific artists in the Italian television and soundtrack world. His “Chanson Balladée” written in 1976 was the theme song for “L’Almanacco del Giorno” (rai) for 15 years. He is best known and remembered for “Tecnica di un Colpo di Stato” (1978). Paolo Renosto, composer, maestro, lyricist and pianist, wrote and released synchronization records under the pseudonym of Lesiman. He was a pioneer and one of the best interpreters of library music.

This EP bears witness to the unfettered and spiced up attitude of improvisations, that has constantly distinguished Ananda Mida’s live activity. The band has always wanted to embody the strong idea of a collective, giving space to free collaborations or changes in formation in live performances. The graphics by eeviacare a further step towards the choral composition that will see the light with the next album Reconciler, which will complete the trilogy.

Il Rovescio della Medaglia was born in Rome in 1970 from an idea of guitarist Enzo Vita, then Stefano Urso on bass, Gino Campoli on drums and singer Pino Ballarini joined the band. Unlike many prog-rock bands of the time (pfm, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Orme, Osanna,...), they chose not have a keyboard player, aiming to offer so a straight-hard rock sound with a strong live impact. Showing great skills with their instruments, they played live at many festivals in in Italy. In 1971 they signed a deal with major RCA to record their first album entitled “La Bibbia”. Recorded live in only one day (!) it’s a “rock bomb” and immediately a triumph among critics and audiences. In 1972 they recorded their second album entitled “Io come Io”, inspired by Hegel's philosophy. Then they started to tour (also outside Italy) and play live with their “rare” huge music-equipment, infact at the time owning more than 10 thousand watts of power was thing reserved to few groups. At their shows people was hit by a sonic avalanche! In 1973, Luis Enriquez Bacalov, famous orchestra conductor and composer of many motion-soundtracks (won a Oscar with Troisi's “Il Postino”) contacted the band to propose to work together on a new album that would have melt rock to symphonic music. For Bacalov it was the third experience like this, after the previous successes with New Trolls (“Concerto Grosso”) and Osanna (“Milano Calibro 9”). The result of this cooperation was the album "Contaminazione". It’s considered a milestone of the italian progressive rock, taking inspiration from by J.S. Bach’s preludes and fugues while lyrics tell the alleged theme of a Scottish son not recognized by the great Austrian composer. It was a worldwide success, so high that RCA company also released an english language version with the title “Contamination”. To present live the new album Il Rovescio della Medaglia recruited a keyboard player, Franco Di Sabatino. Unfortunately later their truck with all the precious equipment is stolen and even if the most famous bands of the time organized a concert to help them, at the “Piper” in Rome, the band feels the blow: the singer left and after a new single, they decided to quit. Founder Enzo Vita began his career as session-man collaborating with many Italian artists and in 2011 gave new life to the band releasing a new album “Microstorie” with Roberto Tiranti (Labyrinth, New Trolls,…) on vocals. In 2016 it’s time for another new album, entitled “Tribal Domestic” (with major Sony) back to a progressive and symphonic rock sound as the first album “La Bibbia”. Featuring Chris Catena on vocals with the help of the first singer Pino Ballarini and many international session-musicians. In 2017 Enzo Vita contacted bassist Andrea Castelli (Shabby Trick, Silver Horses, Mantra, Cappanera…) to form also a live-band to bring on stages once again their music. From this collaboration they release "Contaminazione 2.0" (Jolly Roger Records 2020) recorded live in San Galgano and totally focused on their album "Contaminazione" and now "La Bibbia - 50th Anniversary" (completely re-recorded) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the debut; the record gave at the time the "Italians Black Sabbath" nickname to the band: for fans of the genre it can be considered the first Italian Hard Rock album for its original heavy sound, so dark and powerful thanks also to the excellent skills of the musicians.

Milla Thyme is a rapper, bassist and producer based in Montreal, Canada. His music is a blend of hip-hop, soul and jazz drawing from the foundations set before him, while creating a fresh new sound. Array expresses the experience of a remote Antarctic research station through the convergence of sound, site and performance. The result is an immersive and affective experience of the spaces, protocols and conditions comprising the bracing polar environment. Array is a companion piece to Polar Force, a performance-installation work by Philip Samartzis and Eugene Ughetti, presented by Speak Percussion.

Array features recordings of radar and scientific instrumentation used for upper atmospheric research and terrestrial communication. These sounds reveal the sophisticated technology and architecture used and heard within the Australian Antarctic Territory. Many of the recordings focus on the way the built environment is transformed through stress and fatigue caused by extreme climate and weather events including freezing temperatures and high velocity winds.

Together with the field recordings are layers of live performance using custom built instrumentation to produce a unique series of textures, rhythmic cycles, resonances and timbral phenomena. The application of tension and pressure upon the assorted instruments recalls the distressed state of highly specialised infrastructure found within the perimeters of a research station.

A polar research station comprises many types and volumes of prefabricated space. In dialogue with this are the unique spaces used to record the instrumental performance. By merging different spaces Array brings into focus various industrial resonances, spatial characteristics, timbres of metal and concrete, and sonic artefacts produced by hard and permeable materials and surfaces.

In three parts, Array presents Antarctica as a liminal space oscillating between representation and abstraction to challenge often repeated tropes. The intent is to blur the relationship between the recorded and performed to produce a hyper-realistic encounter of the powerful forces that operate at the margins of our planet. One hears the precariousness of a remote research station contorted by unrelenting stress, compressed air forced through waterborne fipples and the volatility of weather events.

Life on remote research stations is progressively resembling the broader contemporary experience, in which strict protocols are used to govern and preserve life. The resilient communities who live and work in these places have learnt how to co-exist with an increasingly hostile environment, along with its unknowns and necessity for hyper-vigilance. Rather than consider it as a place on the edge of elsewhere, Antarctica and its assemblage of durable, super modern colonies provides an archetype for an uncertain future in anticipation of the volatility that awaits.

A band as kinetic as L’Eclair cannot stay idle. So when the pandemic hit, they stayed true to form and began recording a new album. With their former records usually recorded in a few days, live to tape, they took a decidedly different approach with this LP. Recorded in four sessions spread out over nine months, the group and their trusted engineer (and manager) Benoit Erard were able to spend more time, energy, and consideration on the production. This new approach gave them the ability to reflect and revise, allowing them to focus more on composition, arrangements and structures. The result is their fourth album Confusions: a sprawling hour-long, 12 track record- their most diverse, concise, and focused effort to date.

Confusions finds L’Eclair finding themselves, having distilled their mastery of groove and rhythm down to a science. Club vibes, psych grooves, rhythmic trances, and ambient comedowns are all present in equal measure, while maintaining a cohesive and consistent flavor throughout. Confusions is both expertly crafted and joyfully spontaneous, danceable yet ethereal, emotive yet cerebral. The shifting moods and melodies imbue the album with a depth that demands repeat listens.

Their influences are on full display here, with nods to CAN, Piero Umiliani, and Tangerine Dream- seamlessly blended with the unique sound L’Eclair has established over the years. New influences are also apparent, such as the house grooves of 80’s Madchester and Aphex twin, as well as the textures and ambience of Boards of Canada. As with past L’Eclair releases, Confusions is sure to attract some fans of hip-hop, recalling the likes of producers Madlib, MF doom, and Dilla. The ever-present dub and house influences bubble up here and there but despite the many inspirations behind Confusions, the sound is pure L’Eclair.

Also in 1969 one of the members (there were two of them with the same name) released a solo single as Guido degli Alusa Fallax (Guardarti negli occhi on West Side).

The band kept playing and released their one and only album in 1974 on Fonit; a great little-known gem, in the best Italian prog tradition, led by keyboards with classical influences, it reminds the best things Banco del Mutuo Soccorso ever made. No less than 13 tracks are listed on the label, but these are connected to form two long suites very well played and sung, and with interesting lyrics.

About the Album:
It is no secret that things are getting worse. By virtually any metric––economic or medical, or ones more abstract and spiritual––American society is in decay. The feeling permeates daily life in innumerable ways, giving the present a gnawing, ambient dread.

Solemn Brigham is not content to leave this at a low hum. On his dazzling new album, South Sinner Street, Solemn examines this decay through the prism of his hometown: Albemarle, North Carolina, where the blocks he grew up on are crumbling like everything else. “What was once a vibrant area now survives as a reminder that the only thing eternal is change,” Solemn says when describing the project’s genesis. “Trash and debris flood the streets, relics of the many lives lived––each piece with a story to tell.” South Sinner Street not only traces the degradation of the world around us, but documents the way communities can come together to stave off that slow death, lifting its members up in the process.

Solemn is uniquely equipped to animate the relics of a once-thriving neighborhood with the specificity they deserve. The rapper, whose work with his fellow North Carolinian, L’Orange, as the duo Marlowe has been critically acclaimed, is one of the most vocally acrobatic working today, able to contort himself into a dizzying array of different flows and inflections, accomplishing alone the sort of musical variety that sprawling collectives try and fail to achieve. Take “Couple Towns,” where Solemn moves from a seesaw pocket into a flow that cascades over the ends of bars; contrast this with the bonus track “Relax,” where each bar sounds as if it’s the final thought spilling out of his mind at the end of an impassioned phrase. The end of “Vice North” even recalls the technically stunning runs of One Be Lo, the Michigan rapper who in the 2000s became one of the genre’s chief chroniclers of a similar country-wide disintegration.

But this is not merely a showcase for verbal acrobatics. South Sinner Street is deeply personal, juxtaposing personal growth with the decay that surrounds it. “This is no rags to riches story,” Solemn warns. Of course––it’s more complicated than that. When, on “Vantablack,” of a toddler cradled in his mother’s arms while that mother nurses a cigarette, he is not asking the listener to imagine a tragic end or a harrowing origin story. The point is that we are all, perpetually, the child and the mother: doing our best to cope, even against our better judgment; persevering despite the circumstances that surround us.

And yet South Sinner Street is buoyed by a sense of playfulness that lights up even the pitch-black corners of Albemarle. “Nothing Left” succeeds in turning end-of-your-rope sorry into something like an in joke. When, on “Vice North,” Solemn raps about putting his hands together in prayer only to find “the line still busy,” his voice bakes something amusing in the complaint––maybe the sense that a young man in a small city is irked at God the way he might be at a flaky friend from the gym. And then, speaking of gyms, comes the laugh-out-loud moment on “Dirty Whip,” when Solemn concedes that he didn’t make the basketball team “‘cause I’m me-first.’”

Across its 14 songs, South Sinner Street argues for Solemn Brigham as one of the most exciting artists in underground hip-hop, a technical virtuoso who also happens to be one of the genre’s most surprising, most deeply personal songwriters. The album evokes the feeling of climbing onto a house’s roof to survey the nearly-burning city around you, with all the peril that entails––but also all the possibility.

A very obscure and one of the rarest albums from Italian rock music scene of the 70's. This album takes on ecology as its theme and sings of the evil of polluting the planet. Terrific basic progressive music housed in a creative gimmick sleeve with window to flower. Blocco Mentale were a quintet, consisting of Aldo Angeletti (who wrote the music) on vocals and bass, Michele Arena on drums and vocals, Gigi "Roso" Bianchi on guitar and vocals, Filippo Lazzari on keyboards, harmonica and vocals, and Dino Finocchi on vocals, sax and flute. Musically Blocco Mentale is characterised by a progressive style with some personal touches. The best intruments are the horns and the keyboards.

The album opens with angular staccato sax riffs and then slides into a lush melody somewhat reminiscent of PFM ( Premiata Forneria Marconi ) in their early (and best) days. There are rich vocal harmonies blended with organ and flute, and once again a Meditteranean sensibility which distinguishes much of the best Italian progressive rock. (The opening lines of that opening track, "Capita," are recapitulated in the closing lines of the sixth track, "Ritorno," but the album still has one track to go at that point, oddly enough). Swelling Mellotrons blend into vocal harmonies, and give way to a cascading piano line. The music moves around a lot in the course of the album. The fourth track, "Io E Me," is an amazing Meditteranean blues, with a wailing harmonica taking the lead.

"Zeder" is today a cult movie, released in theaters in 1983, at a time when hardly anyone dared to shoot anything that had to do with zombies. Pupi Avati went against the tide then, giving life to an atmospheric horror film set in a sunny Italian Romagna Riviera - a typical destination for cheerful summer holidays - which tells the discovery of ancient experiments by researcher Paolo Zeder on a special 'K terrain' that allow those buried there to return from beyond. Avati's stylistic approach, in which tension and fear arise from simply narrated situations instead of full-blooded scenes with a strong visual impact, finds here a perfect match with Maestro Riz Ortolani's score.

For a duo whose youthful energy rejuvenated the world of house music at the start of the 2010s, it seems incredible that Disclosure are now into their second decade of musical life. The incredible vigour of those early records, the spark of invention and ever-onward musical thrust, remains with the Disclosure brothers, Howard and Guy Lawrence, to this day. Their third album, 2020’s Energy, was aptly named, with house, breakbeats, disco, UK Garage, electro, soul, R&B, hip hop and a globe-trotting array of percussion combining to bracing effect, as the Lawrence brothers spat musical life into the face of the pandemic.

The emphasis throughout DJ Kicks is on motion. After a brief ambient introduction from Pépe’s Life Signs, Disclosure keep the energy high, in a mix that showcases the wonderful malleability of a house beat in the right hands. From sub bass to disco samples to 303 tweak, all is welcome in Disclosure’s house, with the mix allowing individual songs space to breathe even as the pace remains harefooted.

“Most of the mix is presenting what you can do with house,” says Guy. “And that's basically our career: trying to move house forward, whether it's with songwriting or using different genres or different languages. The mix should represent where we’re at now; and where we’re at now is clubby.”

Energy may have confirmed Disclosure’s place at the top of the dance music tree but Guy compares the duo’s DJ Kicks to the sets they might play at after parties and smaller shows, rather than at their huge headline dates. “If you put us in Phonox in Brixton, we're gonna play a bunch of this stuff - it's a good representation of that,” Guy concludes, “what we're going to play in a sweaty basement rave.”

Here’s a definitive compilation of their first period career, Glaxo Babies was one of the most exciting british post-punk band of the era. Raised in Bristol – altogether with such local influential acts like Maximum Joy, The Transmitters and obviously The Pop Group – Glaxo Babies formed in late 1977. The band signed to local label Heartbeat Records (marketed by Cherry Red), with their first release being the This Is Your Life EP in February 1979; in the same year they released the single “Christine Keeler” . This led to them recording their first session for BBC radio’s John Peel the following April, and the track “It’s Irrational”, from this session, opened the seminal 1979 Bristol Compilation album “Avon Calling”. Their aggro mix of in your face lyrics and groovy bassline led to a unique formula, with both their feet in the post-punk scene and the uprising black jazz crossover. The so-called white funk was the plat du jour, even if the band soon achieved a straight and original personality. Fully remastered and licensed, ltd to 500 copies.

But Only After You Have Suffered' is a densely layered and deeply personal new work from multidisciplinary artist, composer, percussionist & producer Jamire Williams.

Conceived as a spiritual, autobiographical artistic statement, Jamire applies sound collage practice to modern jazz composition, beat production, MC/vocalist features, and his uniquely impressionistic drumming style – making an album as akin to minimalist painting as an art-house film soundtrack or a classic hip-hop mixtape. A “self-reflective, almost testimonial work” that swiftly cycles across a vast spectrum of styles, it's the culmination of his five-year musical journey to the outer reaches of his own sound. It’s the album he has always wanted to make.

To do so he engages his faith and the friends and family that shaped him, working with a host of close collaborators in a free and spontaneous manner. The shared musical, communal, and spiritual sensibility gives the album its sense of unity. “It’s a whole work,” Jamire explains. “It flows seamlessly, and it’s meant to keep playing until you really understand all the messages, prayers, and cries.”

Across twelve multi-faceted tracks, he brings together artists from his hometown of Houston (vocalists Corey King, Lisa E. Harris, Fat Tony, Jawwaad Taylor), those he became close to over several years living in LA (Sam Gendel, Zeroh, Mic Holden, Josh Johnson, fellow International Anthem artist Carlos Niño), and other creative partners from his life-long journey in sound (Chassol, Svet, Kenneth Whalum).

As such, 'But Only After You Have Suffered' builds its own world from the pull between Jamire’s jazz heritage - eleven years as a drummer in NYC recording with world-renowned musicians like Jason Moran, Christian Scott, and Dr. Lonnie Smith - and the experimental, narrative art-pop of his more recent work with Solange, Moses Sumney, and Blood Orange.

Its origins can also be traced to his 2016 solo percussion album '/////// Effectual' (released by Leaving Records) - a turning point for Jamire, who has since embarked on a process of stripping back and breaking down his musical identity, creating a new sound from the fragments that most speak to his experience as a musician and a person.

Rooted in his faith, Jamire opens the album with “Hands Up,” a devotional hymn cut against the stark reality of the modern world that sounds like an apocalyptic middle-grounding of Kendrick Lamar’s 'To Pimp A Butterfly' and Merry Clayton’s “Gimme Shelter.” Whether in the rousing, spiritual “Just Hold On” or the fluid verses of Fat Tony on “Safe Travels,” the music exists in the tension between higher realms and social realities - what Jamire calls the “duality of a personal thing and what I’m seeing in my community, in the Black community, as a Black man.”

The album reaches its climax on “Pause In His Presence,” which features a chilling operatic performance from Lisa E. Harris, recorded in one take off the back of a single conversation and a shared vision between the two artists. “Every time I hear that song, I cry,” Jamire says. “It’s so real.”

Having recently moved back to Houston, the release of 'But Only After You Have Suffered' marks a moment of Jamire coming full circle. A literal homecoming and his arrival as an undeniably multi-faceted artist in his own right.

Lyrical pop / gayo composer and saxophonist Gil Ok-yun was a central figure in Korea's golden age of gayo (1960s to 1980s), and has given us countless gems through his collaborations with greats such as Hye Eun-yi and others. Gil never did let go of his jazz roots, and would occasionally release gayo records in the jazz-tinged kayokoku style with the help of musical colleagues during his time in Japan such as Keitaro Miho and Shungo Sawada. It was through his meeting with Korean classical musician Lee Saeng-gang in the 1980s - an era in Korea that was characterized by experimental crossovers of Eastern and Western styles - that Gil's musical aspirations were finally realized in the form of a 'proper' jazz record.

Lee Saeng-gang's ensemble included himself as daegeum flautist and his brother, the janggu percussionist Lee Sung-jin. They were joined by Gil and a member of his jazz ensemble, the percussionist Ryu Bok-sung. Several live performances eventually led to a recording session. This album, which comprises just two tracks recorded in the form of improv jams, has often been referred to the only work of its kind in Korea's jazz scene. The mélange of two woodwind instruments (saxophone, daegeum) and various percussion elements (bongos, janggu, jing, & kkwaenggwari) come together to conjure a ritual-like confluence that is spiritual in nature and transcends the boundary between East and West.

For some reason, the album was initially released only on CD - the present reissue is the first-ever vinyl release. Though Gil was a jazzman through and through all his life, it was only in his later years that he finally got a 'jazz recording' to his name. Rediscover his legacy and gift to Korea's jazz scene, restored here in its full glory.

Repressed for the first time in LP, 1971’s ‘About Time’ was the Ping Pong debut album. Founded by Alan Taylor from The Casuals it was one of the first bands in Italy (based in Bologna) to be inspired by the British sound of the period moving between late ‘60 psychedelic rock and the jazzy prog such Jethro Tull, Tonton Macoute, Camel and Caravan. 10 tracks all sung in English delicate and exceptionally well performed with warm precision, enthusiasm and greater energy in which the excellent musicians highlight their abilities: Celso Valli, who will then participate in many other productions of various genres, organ and piano / Mauro Falzoni acoustic and electric guitar, vocals / Paride Sforza - sax and flute (foreshadowing a signature sound from Italy like Osanna, P.F.M., Delirium, Quella Vecchia Locanda and many others) / Alan Taylor on bass and vocals / Vittorio Volpe (previously in I Meteors and later Paolo Conte's steady drummer) on drums (long solo on Funny Wife). It’s not normal to take 31 years to release a follow up album. But then Network was never a normal sort of record label, and often opted for the quirky rather than the quick buck. The logo was launched in 1990 and that year, along with a slew of startlingly good singles, created and issued two bio-rhythm compilations, each of which showcased cutting edge USA techno rubbing shoulders alongside its’ sparse UK bleep counterpart.

At the time the words quality and dance music compilations were not phrases shared that much. bio-rhythm 1 and it’s almost instant follow up bio-rhythm 2 bucked the trend with groundbreaking exclusive tracks, iconic minimal artwork and surreal sleeve notes.

Each of the albums have been hailed by many as piece de resistance primers to electronica music.

As well as capturing the zitgeist of a blurry everything of that moment experimental time, they have endured to be acclaimed as all time iconic classics. So why was there no follow up? One reason was that things were moving so bewilderingly fast at the time for Network that the emphasis was always on the next thing, not regurgitating repetitive beat ideas.

Another was that the opportunity arose to direct the acumen gained from the bio-rhythm experience at the release of two (now equally acclaimed) compilations from Frank and Karen Mendez’s cult Nu-Groove label.

The current Network reconstruction meant an opportunity to re-indulge and finally release bio-rhythm 3. Matt Anniss’s splendid sleeve notes are reproduced below and tell you all you need to know about the carefully selected (and mostly exclusive to this collection) tracks on 2 x 12 vinyl for increased sonic joy. This pop art combo hailing from Leatherhead, England were known for their outrageous live concert performances and were 'removed' from a tour with The Who in Germany in 1967 when they 'out-Who'd The Who'. Adding fuel to an already high-octane fire they issued a single that same year "Desdemona", written by Marc Bolan, which was banned by the BBC because of the controversial lyric, "Lift up your skirt and fly." Across the pond their American record label delayed the release of their album, Orgasm for four years from its recording date due to objections from Daughters of the American Revolution (yeah, really). John's Children were out and about being a nuisance for less than two years but in that time, they released six singles and one album, but predictably none troubled the Top 30 pop charts. On "Mixed Emotions", the Brooklyn-based Dysfunkshunal Familee consisted of Braindead, D-Rock, Rebel Rhyme and Crazy DJ Bazarro. Recorded between 1994-98, the album still has that special Bushwick underground vibe and feel. Bazarro's words on the project: "What a time to be alive. We just sat in the crib making music, having fun, playstation, trying to change the world in our little world. Everything we talk about then is happening now. Good luck in the game called life. So many mixed emotions on this ride."

A record made when Yapoos supposedly weren't making music, this latter career EP first materialised on their Tokyo and Osaka 1999 tour, and is a must have for any Yapoos enthusiast. Fresh from the aftertaste of drum&bass records reaching Japanese shores in the late 90s, this collection of tracks veers even further in the direction of electronic than those that came before it doing away with guitars and acoustic drums altogether. The unmistakable vocal arrangements of Jun Togawa however assure the listener that these were never core elements, and as the case with all Yapoos records the beating heart follows on the heels of Togawa and the rallying cries from the underlying industrial production.

This EP would also see Togawa's developing interest in spoken word with the floating poetry of second track "Hamushi" and the final track "(something else)" - a tribute to Togawa's love of radio drama series and in particular the one-person-three-roles performances that grant its narrator the chance to roam free from the constraints of a single body.

Shadows Fall was founded over 25 years ago by guitarists Jon Donais of thrash legends Anthrax and Matt Bachand of Act of Defiance. Soon after the group released their debut album – which featured All That Remains vocalist Phil Labonte – in 1997, Brian Fair was recruited to be the group's new front man. After a year's worth of live shows together, the band entered Massachusetts' Planet Z Studios with producer Zeuss to record what would become what would become a seminal album in the burgeoning New Wave of American Heavy Metal movement.

Influenced by classic Bay Area thrash, Scandinavian melodic death and New England hardcore, “Of One Blood” ushered in a new era for metal that emphasized heaviness, hooks and taut musicianship. The album earned extensive critical acclaim; it saw the group tour alongside the likes of Hatebreed, In Flames, Converge, Lamb of God and Unearth, as well as share festival stages with Pantera and Slayer; and it even caught the attention of MTV.

“Of One Blood” set the stage for the band to achieve additional mainstream metal success on their subsequent release, 2002's “The Art of Balance,” which saw the group join Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest tour en route to selling more than 250,000 copies in the U.S. alone. From there, the band cracked the Billboard Top 20 with 2004's “The War Within” – which sold more than 400,000 copies in the U.S. and earned the band its first Grammy nomination – before signing with Atlantic Records for the release of 2007's “Threads of Life,” which saw the band receive a second Grammy nomination.

Pleasure is a Sydney based music project that utilizes distorted synths, irregular drum beats and fluid song structures to create energetic and hypnotic pieces that straddle the line of bright and abrasive.The trio is comprised of Adam Connelly (synthesizers + vocals) Jonathan Boulet (bass guitar + fx pedals) and Hugh Deacon (drums). When playing live and on record, their music is improvised and unrehearsed with no laptops or backing tracks. “One of us will introduce an idea and the rest will follow.” Their debut LP Saint Albans, was conceived and recorded in a small farm house in the town of Saint Albans, New South Wales, over 3 days from the 12th to the 14th of October 2019. The building has since burned down in the 2019 Australian Bushfires. “We came away from this session with close to 20 hours of material that we edited down into consumable pieces.” This is the case for all tracks except Brain Waste 191013 which was left intact and unedited. They launched the Australian release of the album by playing a 6 hour endurance set in a warehouse in Sydney’s Inner West. “Our sonic influences seem very obvious but we haven't been called out yet. Little we know about this long lost gem coming from the outskirts of the Commonwealth. But as far as we know, beautiness lies inside. That is the case of the sole album of mysterious australian band Extradition. Released in a small run on local independent label Sweet Peach in 1971, the self titled album stands as one of the most accurate acid folk rendition outside the UK realm. Formerly a three piece Extradition struggle on their personal behavior forging a rural set up that pursue the ‘think green’ revolution. It could be the English folk revival or the West Coast flower power, but the album introduce a different state of mind, far away from the chaotic suburbs of the counter culture. Lost on the isle, the acoustic set up of the band brings joy and happiness, a new age that reflects the multiple essence of the four elements. While the opener ‘ A Water Song’ brings to mind the course of a small river ‘A Love Song’ sets the mood for a long lost medieval folk tale. Acoustic guitar, small percussion, natural found sound and the celestial voice of Shayna Carlin (also member of cult band Tully, a weirdo surf-psychedelic affair) all of the elements above literally conjure for an ambient album before the definition was fully embraced by a massive audience.

The Wire record of the month August 2021 ! From the release of the first self-titled album in 2013, Rakta have lived quite a vertiginous rise. In a particularly rare way for a band from the do-it-yourself scene of São Paulo, the band has aroused immediate international attention. Gonzen, uminari or retumbos. Perhaps you’ve heard these sounds? They’re known to occur all over the world and, as one might expect, humans have strained to offer various explanations for these unsettling emissions that materialise unbidden from the sky.

We like to say that we’ve understood what’s happening so that we can move on. Tidy up the loose ends and don’t scare the horses. Nothing wrong with that in good measure, but there’s something to be said for the Haudenosaunee peoples’ explanation. They pointed out that the Great Spirit hasn’t finished their work of shaping the earth and is making a fair bit of noise while they’re at it.

If you accept that many questions never truly get answered, in fact can or should never truly be answered, you may be able to tune your mind to this collection of lingering sonic detonations. If you accept that the work is ongoing, our labours seldom done, that there’s not much point talking about the end of anything, you may be ready to join us. It’s not our task to finish it, nor are we free to desist.

Keplar re-issues the fourth album 'Chessa' by Dan Abrams' project Shuttle358 on vinyl for the first time. The double LP edition includes 3 previously unreleased tracks from the same recording sessions back in 2004, as well as an extended artwork with unseen photographs by Dan Abrams. While undoubtedly associated with the microsound and 'clicks & cuts' movement around the turn of the millennium, on 'Chessa' Shuttle358 left behind the classical rhythmic patterns of the genre and shifted further towards warmer territories, meandering between modern digital minimalism and the soft tones of ambient music. Counter to his microsound synthesis approach on Frame (2000), Abrams created Chessa by writing software that manipulated samples from his unreleased songs, guitar pieces, and vintage japanese films sampled from video tape. In particular, a special granulating technique was written and performed at intentionally low sample rates that gave the uniquely fragile, yet dense sound to the album. Over fourteen tracks Abrams arranges slowly evolving sonic entities of unfading elegance. Strayed and hazy melodies pulse and cascade, elongated but brittle harmonies shimmer and disappear, echoing far-off in the rounded corners of the mind. The patient and detailed way Abrams combines the broken with the beautiful in creating organic collages of sound that retain the euphonic essence of a song, makes this piece of work so powerful and timeless, sounding just as relevant today, as it did 17 years ago. Under modern scrutiny in Abrams latest studio, he refocused the original recordings to emphasize the elements most important to the original vision. The final mastering and vinyl preparation was done in collaboration with Stephan Mathieu, vinyl was cut by Lupo. From the original press release in 2004 by Taylor Deupree: Without a doubt Shuttle358 has become one of the most admired artists to emerge from modern electronic music’s sea of musicians. From the humble beginnings of a demo CD in 12k’s mailbox to 4 critically acclaimed CDs, Dan Abrams is, to some, the one credited for bringing a warmth and human touch back into what has often been considered a very cold, sterile genre. It began with 1999’s Optimal.lp (12k1005), a groundbreaking debut release that immediately defined the Shuttle358 sound; a hybridization of the then-emerging “microsound” genre with Eno’s true ambient explorations. In 2000 Abrams outdid himself with Frame (12k1011) by honing his sound design and exploring production techniques at rates that made his “now” quite brief and creating what was to become one of the most sought-after CDs in the 12k catalog. Chessa is the third release from Abrams’ Shuttle358 moniker on 12k and he continues to do what he does best: attempt to move microsound away from the world of theory and towards absolute real life. Like his photographs, Chessa is music about, and to be listened to in, unexpected places. It is a narrative, a simple slice of life that plays out through the incidental photography of the cover artwork. To achieve this Abrams fuses irregular granular sound particles, like the movements of everyday life, with a deliberate melodic base that captures emotion and simplicity.

His first solo album since 2014’s Rap Fantastic Boston based emcee, Dagha returns with D-A To The G. The eleven track effort is entirely produced by long-time ally, DJ Real (Insight, Martiangang). Closing in at over two decades into his hip-hop career, the album is unapologetically late 80’s and 90’s authentic. Not in a retro rose-glasses approximation of the style but direct from two vets who were actually in the culture and making music back then. Speaking on the release, the emcee said “I feel like it’s a statement album from me. At this point, I have a deeply supportive underground fan base and they know my music. This new album applies the same formula of voice, positivity, fun, and banging beats but this time on vinyl. Yes, there are messages but never from a preachy place.” Among these messages is “Knowledge Over Faith” which the emcee says is about “instead of following blindly to traditions and behaviors passed down from our families and peers use facts and the tools accessible to us to make our own informed decisions.” There’s also “Black Trucks” where Dagha and Ruste Juxx (Boot Camp Clik) warning garbage emcees that time’s up as Dagha says “the ones who are contributing to the current culture of misogyny, addiction and fronting.” Also guesting on four tracks is Dagha’s original rhyme-partner Cloke, the chemistry is definitely evident, with Cloke’s baritone grit and Dagha’s nimble flow. Dagha says “I don’t think my passion for hip-hop has diminished over time, if anything, I’m even more passionate about the music I release.”

music' or 'sonorization': as suggested by its name, those were real music
libraries intended for the accompaniment of audiovisual productions such as
television programs, advertisements, documentaries and films. Since they
were created in total artistic freedom condition, they are often difficult if not
impossible to catalog, as they're not anchored to a specific musical genre;
this freedom also allowed the authors to compose, sometimes in the most
complete anonymity, experimental and avant-garde music, capable of
anticipating the sounds that only many years later would have been
widespread on a larger scale.
Oronzo De Filippi is known not only for his library music works, but also for
having been part of the project The Braen's Machine, together with
Alessandro Alessandroni, another very important name in this context.
"Meccanizzazione" is a completely instrumental record - like practically all
LP's in this genre - literally dominated by the sound of the harpsichord, and it
substantially features two main kinds of compositions: the most 'friendly' and
easy-listening ones with a jazz-lounge and bossanova flavor, and the darker
and hypnotic ones, decidedly more fitting the repetitiveness of the industrial
world and its machines at work.
"Ritmo dell'industria N. 2" is part of a reissues series, made in collaboration
with Edizioni Leonardi (Milan, Italy), of extremely rare library music LP's
published between late '60s and early '70s, most of which have never been
released again until today, and that are finally made available again for
collectors and sonorization music lovers.

Thomas Köner is one of the most influential modernist minimal composers. His music is often defined as dark ambient or drone, because of the use of low frequencies, material from gongs,shadowy resonances and boreal ambience, but at the same time its sound with constant fluctuation and vulnerability of sonic events, what makes it organic, human and almost comforting. Köners soundscapes are no longer simply dark, the question now is that of a profound blackness. Such is the generic darkness of the abyss, the void and vacuum, the darkness of more than silence, of catastrophe and cataclysm, but also the soundscapes have utopian moments. It is a cosmological blackness, the black of nonbeing. The more subtractive, the blacker the sound synthesis, Köner writes. Such blackness is non-music. Music will never be music until it ceases to represent and begins to sound like non-music or monochrome. “Whoever hears the distortion of all sounds, will soon become Ultrablack. Whoever listens to this world, but has no affection for any of its sites, even to the place of Black Noise, may soon reach Ultrablack. Whoever understands the spirit of impartiality through ten thousand million partial tones, hears Ultrablack and can no longer be measured. No measures, no enclosures, no properties are the sign of ultrablack scores.” Thomas Köner Aubrite was first released 1995 on the label Barooni. Roland Speckle helped with production of the album. Aubrite is the name of a group of meteorites named for Aubres, a small achondrite meteorite that fell near Nyons in 1836.

Paradoxx's mini-album "Plan Of Attak" is one of the rarest heavy metal releases. It was pressed in 1985 and it is rumored that only a few surviving copies exist, handed out to press and friends of the band. Over the years, this release became the Holy Grail of US metal for collectors all over the world. After a spectacular #2 spot in the German album charts with their latest chef-d'oeuvre 'Obsidian', the band now unveils a live album consisting of 16 tracks that cover nearly every style and big hit from their 3-decade-long career. Captured at The Mill Nightclub near the band’s hometown in Yorkshire, England, the recording of the BluRay was directedby Ash Pears, who previously worked with the band on their music videos for ‘Medusa’ and ‘Obsidian’. Mixed by Les Smithand mastered by Jaime Gomez Arellano, the audio version of the show will be available as vinyl and CD. "Due to the ban on live music, we, like many other bands, have had to adapt and do something we never thought we'd have to do”, reflects guitarist and songwriter Greg Mackintosh.“No, not stacking shelves in Aldi like Metallica, but playing a show at a disused mill in Yorkshire with noone else there. We decided against trying to pretend there was an audience in the room with us, opting instead for a rather moribund version of a live lounge show. Whilst never being pleased with anything, we were however slightly less miserable at the result. It was also almost fun playing some of our new album Obsidian within the set for the first time too. We can now announce that we will be releasing this show as an official CD/Blu-Ray and vinylimaginatively entitled At the Mill.”
