Originally from Brussels, now based in Montreal, Senz’s first approach to cutting up records was in '98 as a DJ on a pair of Technics 1200s that he shared with his best friend, one month each. Flash forward to 2020, with close to 20 years spent producing on a variety of MPC models, Senz began making beats on his phone by bringing app-based Koala Sampler into his production arsenal, opening up a whole new chamber for him. He has worked with Da Buze Bruvaz, Giovanni Marks, Elucid, Beans (formerly of Anti-Pop Consortium), Dave Dub, Megabusive, Juga-Naut, Dibia$e, Duke Westlake, Uncommon Nasa, PremRock Brainorchestra & more.

Regarding his first official Grilchy Party release he presents "The Dream Juice Machine" the object is to bomb the senses yet make a smooth enjoyable listen. A record you can put on on a Sunday afternoon or as soon as you wake up. It just feels good. Senz set to work on what would become Dream Juice Machine after sifting through 100s of beats over several years, then Senz & MarQ Spekt selected 20+ bangers which Senz then stitched together into a seamless, trippy, boom-bap, jazz, jungle tapestry that represents the Grilchy Party Favors series properly. The Shack story is one of music’s greatest legends. It incorporates hardship, bereavement and chaotic misadventure, but above all it tells the tale of beautiful music triumphing over trouble and tragedy.

‘Here’s Tom with The Weather’ boasts a majestic and fresh form. These are magical songs, psychedelic folk songs of the finest Head vintage. Sleepy-eyed, wistful and mystical, yet crafted with a cunning and acute dexterity beyond just about anybody you can think of.

The two profoundly Liverpudlian brothers Mick and John Head have made several brilliant albums together , but none as quickly as ‘Here’s Tom…’ which was completed in seven weeks at Brynderwen Studios in North Wales along with drummer Iain Templeton (rip) , bassist Guy Rigby and producer Jay Reynolds in 2003.

In the 80’s , the two brothers from the notorious Kensington estate in north Liverpool were singer and guitarist with The Pale Fountains , an effervescent pop group which imploded under the weight of two albums in 1986. The Heads returned in ‘88 as Shack and a debut album Zilch. In 1991 , Shack made ‘Waterpistol’ , an inspirational guitar jewel that would have proved just as influential as any British album in that era had the studio not burned down, taking the master tapes with it. Four more years passed , but by the time it was finally released on Marina it had developed ‘lost classic’ status.

The Heads battled on. They toured as their hero Arthur Lee (rip) of Love’s backing band. In ‘97 , they created

a new group called The Strands and recorded the delicate, dreamy masterpiece ‘The Magical World Of The Strands’ . They spent a long time making another classic ‘hms Fable’ , and then decided that next time they wouldn’t take quite as long recording. Enter ‘Here’s Tom With The Weather’.

Showcasing John’s slow , shy emergence as a songwriter to challenge his brother (on the sparkling, heartbreaking ‘Miles Apart’ and ‘Carousel’ , and the spun-out ‘Kilburn High Road’ ) , toasting Mick’s newest confirmation as the most unrecognised genius of his or any other generation (the ode to his bro, ‘Byrds Turn To Stone’ , the mariachi horns that break open the slow folk fog of ‘Meant To Be’ , the two lullaby bookends ..and on , and on) .

“The journey we’ve had together has been beautifully turbulent”, laughs John. “But there’s times when we glide and we’re gliding forward now”

Mick agrees. “Making this album has been frantic, chaos, carnage, intense : the normal way with us. But it doesn’t sound like that. That’s all that matters. The story is what it is. But so are the songs and so are the records. Because we’re good.”

Nobody could disagree with that.

Star Party began in March 2020 as a Seattle living room project between Carolyn Brennan and Ian Corrigan (Gen Pop, Vexx) - both sharing a love of high energy rock n roll music. The idea to start a band percolated during trips to the high deserts of eastern Washington to pick sage and see the sun as a brief reprieve from the misty and grey Pacific Northwestern Spring. A few months later, Star Party released Demo 2020 on Feel It Records, featuring two originals and covers of The Shop Assistants' "Something to Do" and the classic "All I Really Wanna Do" (in the vein of Cher's version). Over the course of 2021, Star Party wrote and recorded their debut LP, Meadow Flower, wherever and whenever they could. Employing like-minded Feel It label mate Caufield Schnug of Sweeping Promises (who also moonlights as one part of Melody Men Mastering) to mix and master the album, Meadow Flower follows a direct line from where Demo 2020 left off. Brennan's soft and clearly American vocals float over waves of feedback and drum machine racket like a delicate mist sitting just above a mountain lake. Melodies bob and weave inside an omnipresent static that fills in every nook and cranny of the recording. Drawing from a quiver of influences such as Black Tambourine, Confuse (JP), The Count Five, and of course The Shop Assistants (RIP Alex Taylor), Star Party's debut album seamlessly meshes together noise, melody, and harmony.

Shayne Carter and John Collie formed Straitjacket Fits in in 1986 after the demise of the Doublehappys and were joined by Andrew Brough and David Wood. The reissue of Hail is deeply tinged with sadness following the recent loss of Andrew Brough; gifted songwriter and guitarist of not only Straitjacket Fits, but also Bike and Dunedin band The Blue Meanies. Andrew's musical impact is undeniable and it's unimaginable to think of a world without his contributions to New Zealand music.Straitjacket Fits' debut release, the Life In One Chord EP appeared in 1987 and the album Hail was released in 1988. Both were recorded at The Lab in Auckland with Terry Moore (from The Chills). 50 years ago, Franco and Luciana De Gemini had recently moved to Rome, both looking for their place in the world. He a talented musician, she a beautiful young bride, they lived in a small penthouse with a huge terrace full of flowers and views that spanned Rome, from the dome of St. Peter to the Altar of the Fatherland to the Castelli Romani: over 40 kilometers of the Eternal City. Through his collaborations with many great maestros of the period and his involvement with the orchestras, Franco got to know many people including Fulvio Corradini and Benito Costa (the former an administrator of prestigious record catalogs, the second a trusted friend). In fact, they had already caught wind of a small record label called Beat Records Company, founded on May 12, 1966, but the two had no time to devote to the endeavor so they trusted its administration to Franco De Gemini by actively involving him as a partner. It was on March 23, 1968, that they set foot in that office on Viale Medaglie D'oro. Beat had published 58 tracks, had 16,500 Liras in cash and a tax fine of 140,000 liras for failure to report. That was the day that Franco and Luciana began their adventure, which would last for him until July 20, 2013, and for her until March 3, 2016. It was an Intense fifty years, always with one foot on an airplane, in a smoke-filled recording studio, in front of a Moviola viewing the scrolling images of film or around a table with incredible characters, to talk, create music and art, or simply to enjoy life. That little two-year-old son that was once picked up and held by Franco and Luciana is now a man of 50, a man with whom generations of film and music fans have been able to cultivate their passions, served and revered by the tireless work of this incredible couple. Having reached this important landmark in time, with over half a century of history behind us, we decided to revive five significant favorites from our musical catalog and replicate them in their original format, a tribute to our past and yours. The fifth appointment of this revival is with one of our scores unreleased on vinyl, Alla Ricerca DEL Piacere by Teo Usuelli, a score we love deeply for a movie featuring the divine Barbara Bouchet, a beautiful icon beloved on both sides of the ocean. The music--iconic as well, and among the most appreciated in our catalog--has been included on Beat at Cinecittà albums and used by the Cohen bros., who included Piacere Sequence M36 in The Big Lebowsky. In 2005, acclaimed Hawaiian singer Teresa Bright —whose recording debut, Catching A Wave, was reissued by Aloha Got Soul in 2020 — recorded a jazz-tinted album with pianist/engineer Kit Ebersbach. The project brought to to life Bright's favorite standard songs alongside tunes that feel expressly written for her sultry voice. The singer's original composition, “Sp-r-ing”, fits right at home in the collection. These recordings patiently sat on Ebersbach’s hard drive for 15 years until 2020, when Aloha Got Soul released the album digitally. The vinyl is scheduled for release on February 25, 2022.

In December 2020, Bright received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hawai’i Academy of Recording Arts. The award came following a lifelong career spanning more than a dozen albums, numbers Na Hoku Hanohano awards, countless songwriting, arranging, and producing credits, domestic and international concert performances, plus a long list of Hawaiian language translations for peers near and far. In anticipation of the awards ceremony, Ebersbach approach Aloha Got Soul with the suggestion to finally release Blue Skies, the 2005 jazz record they'd cut with studio veterans Dean Taba, Noel Okimoto, Rocky Holmes, Casey Olsen, and Sam Ahia, Jr. Together with the help of Bright's partner, Derrick C.M. Llanos, we released 'Blue Skies' digitally in December 2020.

“Iʻm so glad we waited,' said Ebersbach of the digital release in 2020. 'There can be no better moment to do this than on this very day, commemorating her lifetime of making beautiful music.”

Ags-057 is a wonderful addition to the catalog of beautiful sounds that Bright has been singing since the beginning of her career, from Catching A Wave through today.

What if the Velvet Underground had written ‘Wooly Bully’ and Sam The Sham ‘Sister Ray?' If Ron House picked up some bongos and joined CCR or if Half Japanese and Hasil Adkins started a Meters cover band? This is the scrap yard of the Retail SIMP's mind. Gang activity started when moldy JOE (Celluloid Lunch, Itchy SELF...) enlisted fellow rhythm bro, TOM THA Moleanderthal (feeling Figures, Hélène Barbier band...) to make a perfect record in the Ides of corona March. A million Doll hairs and several rock bottoms later, the idea was to make something that would easily fall apart, this was executed with Montreal's best and brightest in the wings, lending a foot (all in the name of bogtime[sic] exposure). Bathroom-stall-wart and Barstool-smart Chrispy Burns (terminal Sunglasses, American Devices…) was brought in to add his patented 'racket roll' guit-o-rama. James "gogo" Goddard (skintone, Egyptian Cotton ARKESTRA...) skronked his reliable sax machine and the ticket was printed. Short on practice and high on ideas, thee Retail Simple Tones were born, well traveled and unraveled individuals, bound by a musical adventure. Now to show for it, Reverberant Scratch is a 9 track ruckus of tinny guitar sketching, horn-honking deliberations, keyboardarific doodles, and whatever else one can summon in a basement to bang on. It's a ramshackle party stabber. Loose, loud, and 100% Total Punk!!!
