The British shoegaze pop band Engineers was formed in London in 2003 by Mark Peters, Simon Phipps, Andrew Sweeney and Dan MacBean. MacBean is also known as the guitarist in The Shining. After being signed to Echo Records, the band released their self-titled debut album in 2005. The album features the acclaimed tracks “Home”, “Forgiveness” and “Waved On”. The latter was produced by Tim Holmes, who worked with The Chemical Brothers, Primal Scream and multiple albums for Death In Vegas. Engineers is available as a limited edition on white coloured vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve.

Dub techno don Steve O'Sullivan's Mosaic label is back with a new dubs series and vol 1 kicks things off with a real doozy on lovely red wax. The boss himself offers up a Bluetrain special edition dub of Hidden Sequence's 'Synapse' which is all icy lines and liquid rhythms which make you think of some frozen lake on a misty morning. Sub Basics (Temple of Sound, Lion Charge Records) opens up with a fresh dub laden track with rippling chords, tons of echo and rolling drums on 'Quarters.' Both are timeless dub outings, as you would expect from this label.

The undisputed leaders of the early gothic scene, and a seminal band that contributed to the rise of British post-punk, The Cure recorded their debut album Three Imaginary Boys at London's Morgan Studios and released it in May 1979. After touring for almost all of 1977, the band changed their name to The Cure and rearranged their line-up with the sacking of Porl Thompson, giving birth to an unusual power trio. This line-up lasted only for their first album, making it unique in its essentially minimal sound. The year was now 1978, and the three (imaginary?) boys soon signed to Chris Parry's Fiction Label.

Françoise and Brezel started recording again with the help of their producer Cem Oral, a half Turkish, half Finnish technical genius from the band Air Liquide, who focused the widespread ideas for the new record and gave the band a new sound – away from the home recording practice of the older records. The record came out in Europe at Bungalow/labels, in Japan at Avex and in America by Bobsled and was re-released after the split from Bobsled records on Kill Rock Stars. After the release Stereo Total – still a duo, like in the early days – began a 5 month tour, which started in the US, Canada, Mexico and went on all over Europe (France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, England, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland) to Russia. They continued in 2002, and for part of the tour they played as a support act for the American band The Strokes. In Summer 2002, Stereo Total played Festivals all over Europe and were invited to play at the Gay Pride in Iceland. They made two singles and two videos for “Musique Automatique”: “Liebe zu dritt” was made by Cabine, who also designed of the album cover, and “Wir tanzen im 4 Eck”, which was made by Randy Kolbe.

We all remember with mixed feelings the past two years of domestic isolation: a temporary anomaly in which the world had to adjust to a new routine, a new rhythm. In these daunting yet precious circumstances, Italian producer Markeno has found his rhythm back, dusting off old records and re-approaching his past musical love affairs that he believed to be long forgotten. Here, in the fertile limbo that connects past and future, “Dock lown (exploring)” is born: a 3-tracker release with a chameleonic nature and an undeniable groove, in which Markeno is able to tactfully combine different genres such as indie, post-rock, African mu- sic, electro and funk.

In the contemporary music scene, overly saturated with catchy melodies and seductive lyrics, it is refreshing to encounter a composition like “Fase 01”, which starts from a purely percussive structure. Just when the ear is settled and well inserted into the tangle of drums, here comes the melodic twist, no less than at the fourth minute, injecting an unexpected groove and chalking out the contours of a track with multiple personalities: a little esoteric, a little synth-wave, quirky and badass. The temperature rises with “Zona Ros- sa”, in which the electro hint sketched in “Fase 01” becomes more pronounced, opening the doors to a dense psychedelic scenario. A shamanic loop accompanies the electric bass and escorts us through the smoke of the bonfire, veils swayed by the wind and colored lights that sparkle in the night. The ritualistic humming of ‘’Zona Rossa”’ is still hearable, floating in the rarefied atmosphere, while the last track “Limbo” makes its entrance and confirms once again the poliedric but congruous essence of this release, whose percussive attitude lures you in and whose hypnotic and groovy body makes you stay. At least for one more dance.

Kazumi Nikaido is probably most known within Japan for her composition of the main theme song for Isao Takahata's Studio Ghibli birdsong "Princess Kaguya", but a dedicated career of fine tuning and experimentations fall either side, and her 2006 album "Nikaido Kazumi no Album" is exemplary of an artist in full creative flow and P-vine is delighted to be releasing it as a 2xLP for the first time. It is hard to match a genre to the work as it meanders through tracks filled with jazz rhythms and cabaret extroversion into halls of ambience and electronica, but Nikaido is always closeby with a hand to guide listeners through its various sharp weaves and turns. One of its lead tracks "Kyou wa Tou" throws the kitchen sink at listeners with a loving touch as a stream-of-consciousness outpour from Nikaido leads an orchestra of jazz, handclaps and turntable scratching as it builds to a wall-of-sound climax. Those who keep up to date with j-pop will be well aware of some of the guest contributors to the album with various members of Sakerock assisting with arrangement and Hoshino Gen playing guitar on a number of tracks. Japanese jazz pianist Takeshi Shibuya's support heavily features and there is a guest appearance by Tenniscoats' Saya.

Nikaido is also no stranger to activity in the west. Through her extensive career she has traveled far and wide, and in 2011 linked up with Tara Jane O'Neil to release a collaborative self-titled LP on K-Records that saw the two artists bridge across their respective cultural backgrounds, and meet in the middle with a work that dared the other to build anew. Other excursions lead to a collaboration with Bill Wells on Lemondale, his collaborative project with Japanese musicians, after meeting the Scottish composer at Glasgow's Celtic Festival. More recently in 2018 she also supported Mount Eerie at Kobe's Guggenheim House and continues to remain active as both a solo artist as well as performing alongside the Gentle Forest Jazz Band.

Almut Klotz, may she rest in peace, became known as a musician through her work with the Popchor Berlin, the bands Parole Trixi and Lassie Singers, and as an author ("Aus dem Leben des Manuel Zorn", "Tamara und Konsorten" and most recently "Fotzenfenderschweine"). Together with Christiane Rösinger she ran the label Flittchen Records. The first two books were written with her partner, the universal talent Christian Dabeler (musician, songwriter on many records, not even all listed on Discogs, actor: Rollo Aller, Deichbullen, author, etc.). In "Fotzenfenderschweine", which Almut Klotz wrote about their love, you can get even closer to the couple. The original info text from 2007 says: "Klotz + Dabeler don't like to commit themselves and also leave the freedom to the listener. All the beautiful lyrics are embedded in the most wondrous glamour pop, which is not too shy to wander into the piepige and show everyone the bird. You can get pathetic: "Menschen an sich" is one of those rare albums that make you feel strangely understood and embraced right from the start - despite or perhaps because of all the unanswered questions. Bonus: The vinyl edition comes with an alternative cover photo!

For every success of R&B and neo-soul albums in the 90s, there's another to tell of those whose qualities were unfairly sidelined or destined for obscurity after being dealt a hand of bad luck. Jeff Redd is today a grammy award-winning record executive known for his work at MCA Records and boosting the profile of Mary J Blige, but various events outside of his control halted the release of his second album. Down Low has the air of an R&B classic: Redd's vocal boundaries feel limitless, and the smooth production values he co-produced with Dinky Bingham bring the album to life with its crisp swing rhythms and genre-defining palettes. From its opener "Show You" to the closer "Take It Off" there's a distinct maturation of sound compared to the lively new jack-swing on debut album A Quiet Storm, and it's a shame we only have this document of his emerging neo-soul sound. P-vine is thrilled to be bringing this album to vinyl format for the first time, and we can only hope it sheds more light on a true godfather of R&B.

Finally Taylor Swift’s self-titled album from 2006 gets a vinyl issue as a 180g 2LP.

Toko Furuuchi’s two popular albums, “Futsuu no Koto” and “cashmere Music”, which were released during her Pony Canyon era from 2003 to 2007, will be released as analog records for the first time on August 3, 2024.

The album “Futsuu no Koto” will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2024. It contains ten songs, including self-produced band-arranged songs by Furuuchi herself, that depict the encounters and partings of a man and a woman, as well as happy love story. Those songs emerge vivid scenes, as if you were watching a movie. The timeless songs, which has not diminished even after two decades, continues to be performed at her concert.

P-vine is delighted to be bringing the modern J-pop classic by the legendary Yoko Nagisa to vinyl for the first time with a record that celebrated the Showa era of Japanese Kayokyoku at the dawn of the millenium. Throughout her lifetime, Nagisa's dedication to music was unquestionable and when she wasn't hard at work at the studio, she could be found spinning records at her bar Nagisa in the world-famous Golden-Gai district of Tokyo. Produced by Ken Yokoyama of the Crazy Ken Band fame, these two together invite audiences on a trip back to 70s Japan at a time when style and fashion were arguably at their peak. In desperately sad circumstances, Nagisa is no longer with us, but we are assured that her legacy lives strong through her incredible catalogue.

When It Falls is a timelessly classic album from a seminal electronic band and the essential soundtrack to any laidback chilling.

Zero 7 were formed in 1997 by producers Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. In 2001 their debut album Simple Things was released selling over a million copies to date and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. They released their second album When It Falls in 2004. When it was originally released, When It Falls was a UK Top 10 album, peaking at no.4 in the UK album charts and spent 24 weeks in total in the charts. It has sold over a quarter of a million copies. Stateside the album entered the Billboard Dance/Electronic chart at #3 and stayed in the Top 20 of that chart for almost thirteen months.

Singles taken from the original album include Home featuring Tina Dico, and Warm Sounds featuring Mozez. Sia and Sophie Barker also feature on the album, with tracks such as Somersault (a UK Top 100 single), In Time and Speed Dial No. 2.

"Formed in 1975, Throbbing Gristle, aka Chris Carter, Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson (1955-2010), Cosey Fanni Tutti, and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (1950-2020), fully delivered on punk’s failed promise to explore extreme culture as a way of sabotaging systems of control. Their impact on music, culture, and the arts has been immeasurable and still felt today.

Having reformed in 2004, Throbbing Gristle’s The Third Mind Movements initially emerged as an exclusive release only available on the band’s last ever American tour in 2009, before they split again in 2010. The album travels through manipulated, time-stretched, and distorted samples, with rhythmical breakbeats and hypnotic oscillations of electronics.

Eager to prove their songwriting smarts and knowledge of traditionalist pop on their sophomore work, French band Air pulled back slightly from the milky synth pop of their 1998 debut, Moon Safari. 10,000 Hz Legend is a darker work, just as contemplative and unhurried as its predecessor, but part of a gradual move from drifting, almost pastoral melancholia to a downright post-modern helplessness in league with Radiohead. Air are still tremendously effective producers, and have actually expanded their palate with a surprising array of pop instrumentation (acoustic guitars, flutes, pianos, a harmonica, harps, and many strings) to file alongside the countless trilling synthesizers and machine sequencers. The two lead-off tracks, "Electronic Performers" and "How Does It Make You Feel," are breathtaking productions that exploit the same robot-weariness tendencies that made "Sexy Boy" (from Moon Safari) an alternative hit. Still, those detached retro-vocoder treatments sound so much more passé in 2001 than when the duo first tried them out in 1996. Jason Falkner and Beck, a pair of equally hardworking slacker-pop icons, appear (respectively) on the next two tracks, the tongue-in-cheek single "Radio #1" and an excellent morning-after jam named "The Vagabond." Again, the production is stellar, but these find Air stranded between art rock and pop, caught in the trap of trying to make great pop music yet never sounding particularly studied or concerned about it. Falkner pops up again on "Lucky and Unhappy" and "People in the City," a pair of album standouts that subvert any pop inclinations with a raft of bridges and breakdowns among the layers of production. "Wonder Milky Bitch" is another precisely studied track, a haze of lunar-desert synth pop directly evocative of country-pop classicist Lee Hazlewood, and "Radian" brings Air back to the instrumental textures of their early work. Fans and involved listeners are definitely rewarded with increased dividends after multiple listens, but even they may wish for an album that harked back to the simpler days of the Premiers Symptomes EP and Moon Safari. - AllMusic.com

Belgian Johan van Roy has had one of the longest careers in electro-industrial music, rising from humble beginnings in the '80s EBM scene to become a figurehead of the genre.

Now, exactly 20 years after its original release in 2003, Suicide Commando’s legendary Axis of Evil album is re-released with lots of brand new goodies.

Classic 2001 collection from Detroit's Adult. 20th anniversary of the original release, 10th anniversary of the first vinyl pressing. Available for the first time in red & black marbled vinyl. "We've wanted to re-release this album for some time," says Adult.'s Adam Lee Miller, "but we weren't ready until now. We have some new material in the pipeline, and we thought this would be a nice way to reintroduce ourselves." It is indeed a nice way for the hugely respected Detroit duo to herald their return to the world of music, especially for anyone who missed out on Resuscitation the first time around _ the album was never available digitally until the 2012 re-release and vinyl pressing on Ghostly International. The reissue thus presented the chance to own one of the more influential records of the early 2000s: either on double 12" LP or, for the first time, as a digital release. Now, in 2022, the vinyl is available for the first time in a new red and black marble colorway. When it first dropped in 2001, Resuscitation served as a de facto introduction to the duo, collecting a bunch of songs on CD that had only previously been available on hard-to-find singles and EPs. Eleven years later, it does the same thing, except this time around, we can see just how influential its creators' work has been _ and Adult.'s music only sounds more remarkable with the benefit of hindsight. At the time, Resuscitation's combination of crisp beats, squelch-laden synths and Nicola Kuperus' detached monotone sounded like a broadcast from the future, steeped in the analog synth sounds of forebears like Kraftwerk but possessed of an ultramodern sheen all its own. The duo's visual aestheticwas just as important _ Kuperus' photography adorned all their album packaging (including this re-release), and their liveshows drew on a sense of what a reviewer once called "detached intrigue." Echoes of Adult.'s aesthetic can be heard today in everythingfrom today's surfeit of analog synth-toting minimal wave bands to the highly stylized divas who dominate the pop charts. But really, in 2022 Resuscitation still sounds like no-one else.

Intervention Records is thrilled to bring Joe Jackson's "Summer In the City" Live in New York to vinyl for the very first time! Previously available only on CD, "Summer In The City" joins IR's wildly successful vinyl reissues of Jackson's early New Wave classics "Look Sharp!", "I'm The Man" and "Night And Day". Naturally, "Summer In The City" will street on vinyl in the summer of 2017, in August.

"Summer In The City" was mastered to vinyl by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio from brand-new high-res master files. "Summer In The City" was recorded live in New York City in August of 1999 by Steve Remote and Co-Producer Sheldon Steiger. Sony's archivists and Battery Studios' Mike Piacentini compiled new high-res digital master files from the original DATs with the final mixes, and IR consulted with Remote and Steiger on key aspects of the recording to ensure the best possible source files were used. The result is an absolute sonic stunner, brought to new life on this double LP set!

Crystal are experts at their own brand of retro-futuristic synth. Discovered online by Gaspard Auge (justice) and Surkin, the world has steadily been taking note of the duo. Headed up by Ryota Miyake (aka flau roster artist Sparrows), the duo's sound may have taken different trajectories, but their experimental, energetic new wave meets techno with added video game music continues to turn heads. With Sunao Maruyama alongside Miyake, Crystal have collaborated with big names throughout their career. Their GET IT EP (2013) appeared on French label Sound Pellegrino, complete with a feature spot from label head Teki Latex. On their 2015 album Crystal Station 64 the duo collaborated with Ikonika, and in 2016 Crystal even jammed with the Thundercat at Rbma Montreal. The duo (Ryota Miyake and Sunao Maruyama), seamlessly mix techno, video game music, new wave and electropop for their modern, eclectic take on vintage synth music. Crystal's Reflection Overdrive is their second album in five years, arriving hot on the trail of 2020's Ecco Funk EP. While the album is a sure showcase for the duo's unique blend of '80s synth and video game soundscapes, Reflection Overdrive also marks a return to a bolder, more experimental side to Crystal, making for an exciting, multi-faceted journey through time and space.
