Jack Adkins, the creative force behind the moniker Jamin’ Jack, has a multifaceted musical journey that began in the mid-'60s in Cincinnati. Initially cutting his musical teeth in garage bands like the Coachmen, Adkins would later embark on a decade-long journey as Jamin’ Jack, the One Man Band, from 1983 to 1993. A pivotal moment unfolded in the early '80s when, at the age of 36, Adkins walked into London Music studio in Tampa to record his debut LP, 'American Sunset.' This album, distinguished by its evocative portrayal of the West's decline, emerged as a defining piece in Adkins's musical repertoire. Its sonic landscape, characterized by guitars and drum machines, resonates with a familiar and poignant atmosphere. The subsequent decade witnessed Adkins assuming the persona of Jamin’ Jack, the One Man Band, embarking on an extensive ten-year tour. Adapting to a corporate presentation style, he not only refined his musical craft but also mastered the art of bantering and entertaining, overcoming his initial shyness. Make no mistake -- the deceptively relaxed arrangements, including the occasional strings, not only highlight Nelson's clever eclecticism, but they also heighten the emotional impact of the album. And this is a hell of an emotional record, where even each side's celebratory honky tonk numbers (the medley "Sister's Coming Home/Down at the Corner Beer Joint" and "Pick Up the Tempo," respectively) are muted by sadness. Then, there are the centerpieces: "Walkin'," where the woman decides it's time to move on; "Pretend I Never Happened," perhaps the coldest ending to a relationship ever written; "Bloody Mary Morning," a bleary-eyed morning-after tale that became a standard; "It's Not Supposed to Be That Way," a nearly unbearably melancholy account of a love gone wrong; and "Heaven and Hell," a waltz summary of the relationship. Any two of these would have formed a strong core for an album, but placed together in a narrative context, their impact is even more considerable. As a result, this is not just one of Willie Nelson's best records, but one of the great concept albums overall.

English singer/songwriter Kate Nash launched her career with piano-driven pop songs and cheeky lyrics that were delivered in a distinctive London accent. Nash soon found success with the platinum-selling Made of Bricks, her 2007 full-length debut. With each successive album, Nash reinvented her sound, tackling neo-soul, synth pop, and indie rock stylings throughout the 2010s. The track was written by Bono, Gavin Friday and Maurice Seezer for the soundtrack to the 1993 film In the Name of the Father. The song was produced by English musician Tim Simenon (Bomb The Bass) and Gavin Friday and does not appear on any of O’Connor’s studio albums, but in 1997, it was included on her first compilation album, So Far… The Best Of. This exclusive release for Record Store Day 2024 is on clear vinyl and pulls together the versions of the track released in 1994 as well as the B-Side, The Father and His Wife The Spirit performed by Sinéad and Gavin Friday.

Comprised of duo Bill Elliot and Bobby Purvis, SPLINTER’s blend of folk, pop, and rock were introduced to Dark Horse Records founder George Harrison in 1973. Harrison was quick to spot their potential and made them one of the first signings to his new label. The band’s debut album The Place I Love was produced by Harrison and features extensive guitar work by the legendary musician, as well as contributions from Billy Preston, Jim Keltner, and Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) and Gary Wright (Spooky Tooth and “Dream Weaver.”). One of the earliest recordings to be made at Harrison’s. Fpshot studio in his Friar Park home, this critically acclaimed album was the first to be released on Dark Horse Records and charted on the Billboard 100.
