Further on the trail of 90s sonic specters, Die Orakel releases Ike‘s Stone Diviner EP, an affiliate with Index Records. The titular track amalgamates the momentum of sparse yet heavy weight breakbeats with the warmth of lush pads, and literally reverberating 90s trance or IDM elements along granular rave signals. The beauty of its subsequent tracks lies in their well-tempered, fresh exploration of past sonic phenomenons, devoid of today’s retromania.

Melbourne’s finest Katie Drover and Just Jack join forces for a split ep on We R The Aliens 003. The newest aliens deliver 6 sweltering cuts ranging from delicate minimal tapestries to wonky breakbeat floor fillers and even a dnb jammer for good measure. Tone Def are the original Bournemouth ravers with some absolute classics released in the early 90’s on Moving Shadow. Rog from the band is also the founder of Void Acoustics, the ultimate in club and festival audio equipment, a hobby that became a huge business empire for him. This EP was written during 1990 to 1991 and had been lost for 30 years until recently, when Rog was checking some of his old ¼” tapes that he took out of storage. These are 4 original UK acid breakbeat rave tracks, encapsulating the raw DIY ethos of the era, of kids messing about in their bedrooms, writing music with no boundaries or templates. Never heard before, never released before… until now. Acid Boom is a sister label to the Vinyl Fanatiks family. A vehicle to release that early 90’s acid sound that would later morph into rave. High energy 303’s, 808 and 909 drum machines, synced up to rolling breakbeats. Whether music from back in the day or new music that’s been created to emulate that early warehouse sound, Acid Boom is here to take you on a rush.

The Jaffa Kid's prolific music-making is well known at this point, with a wide-ranging palette that takes in the full range of electronic genres, from jungle to techno to ambient.

But here on his second EP for Gated - appropriately titled Second Frequencies - the boy named after a biscuit (or is it a cake?) goes deep. Really deep. Kicking off with the beatless but driving Phased For Days, the EP has a kind of relentless hypnotism to it, with Trinian's almost 7 minutes of spaced out electro.

Flip to the B and the acid comes to the fore, with War On Words and its addictive 303 line pulsing over the Kid's signature pads.
Tangential throws in some breaks under gritty acid, and Not The Way rounds out the EP with a truly poignant melodic beatdown.

REZ18eighteen coming up soon on our home label Rezpektiva, with a release from Quaid (Ben Naylor) with his Cascade/Fusbares EP. Originally recorded for UK label Seraphim Records back in '98 but made available as 'promo only' so never fully released, it's two tracks of top level work. This release comes as a prelude to two albums from Quaid that will also appear on Rezpektiva in the near future.

By now you'll be aware just how prolific UK-based The Jaffa Kid is. It's obvious just by visiting his Bandcamp page. Release after release of quality breaks, jungle, techno, ambient, and downtempo experiments.

And this debut album for Gated doesn't disappoint, drawing from all those genres across two slabs of wax, underpinned with the Kid's keen ear for electronic music's hypnotic qualities.

These 10 tracks are raw and dancefloor-ready, but still retain that infectious listenability present in everything The Jaffa Kid produces.

Istanbul-born, Berlin-based duo Bärtaub is queueing up next on the prestigious Paris imprint of Yoyaku.

Following successful releases on Butch's Otherside label and legendary R&S records, Bärtaub brings a fresh sonic exploration to the Yoyaku imprint.

"Nominal Attraction" delves into the magnetic forces of music, where objects are drawn to each other within the same genre nominally, skilfully ensuring that each piece maintains a distinct identity, providing a set of unique spaces for each track.

The release presents a seamless blend of breaks and house music, united under the flag of Minimal Techno, evolving within a sharp sound organically to create an immersive and dangerously danceable experience that transcends traditional boundaries of the genres.

The A side showcases a powerful introduction as well as a deeper, breaded cut as the duo is joined by Brick. The B side opens up on a more incisive interpretation of Deep Breaks with the title track of the EP, to finish off on an inevitable piece designed to warm even the coldest floors of the planet, under the name of Chord Shift Space.

Part two of the retrofuturistic 12’’ compilation series introduced by To Pikap Records. Legacy inaugurates the release with an acid JeffMillsian ode to Detroit’s techno-electro sound, Future Draft takes us back to Europe with a euphoric broken house, while The Jaffa Kid concludes side A with a number of quirky melodies floating over Autechre’s (or Aphex Twin’s) memories of the genre previously known as idm. On side B, Odpein updates the Drexciyan electro palette slipping in elements of Chicago’s footwork combined with heavy acid bass, subsequently Dj Tsoug’s misty atmosphere crawls over some dry city bringing catharsis with its most anticipated drops of acid and finally happy99@gmail.com enforces us to open up our eyes with a stripped and muffled techno-acid anthem of the future. It’s a must have till the next one!
