Hold it down is a disco ish track that utilizes very smooth and soul touching elements that are built around various piano variations and a beautiful break with percussion in the fashion of Shuggie Otis Aht uh mi Hed .

Central Bank is keeping up the pace with a very hazy atmosphere and amazing vocals which ooze throughout. Very musical and warm. 135th is a piano track that again strikes the right chord for mellow week-ends in a park. Wayactive is closing down this extended effort with euphoric synths and uplifting chords.

“(Got To) Move On / Rosa Da Ribeira” continues the series of edits and remi¬xes from Stefano Tirone aka S-Tone Inc.’s latest studio album, “Body & Soul” (2020, Sccd/lp493); this 7” is also a preview of the forthcoming release of a project named “Body & Soul - The Disco Experience” where Stefano, with the help of some of his faithful collaborators, reinvents and transforms into a new boogie disco groove dress the entire “Body & Soul” LP. Both songs here combine nu-disco with late ’70s funk / soul / dance, Stefa¬no’s first real ‘musical love’: a way therefore to underline his unconditional passion for the music that represented his youth and, at the same time, the awareness of the inevitability of the modern times we live in. “Got To (Move On)” is an up-tempo song with a leading pulsating bass that sees the participation of Afra Kane, a Nigerian singer who has lived in Italy, England and Switzerland, and who gives ‘black’ shades to the songs with her splendid voice. “Rosa Da Ribeira”, sung by Toco with the additional backing vocals of Prisci¬la Ribas, Luzia Dvorek and Gui Hargreaves, shows off an exotic touch given by the Brazilian melodies and the Portuguese lyrics, and is further enriched by Gilberto Tarocco’s baritone sax and Randy Freeman’s trombone.

Martin Brodin's venerated MB Disco label is back with standout remixes of his 2005 classic 'Semitone Shuffle' by Lauer and the boss himself. Swedish artist Martin Brodin has been deeply involved in the global house and disco scene for decades. He initially founded this label in 2010 - and the MB Edits sub-label in 2013 - and has put out classics by Chicken Lips, Ray Man and Psychemagik. His productions on labels like Nang, Southern Fried and Buzzin Fly have very much defined the modern scene, none more so than epic 2005 cut 'Semitone Shuffle.' Now, after something of a hiatus, big new remixes of the original mark the welcome return of the MB Disco label. The first is from legendary German artist Lauer. He is one half of Tuff City Kids and Black Spuma, and an esteemed house producer for labels like Clone, Running Back and Permanent Vacation. His version is a melodic epic, a real house workout with pixelated pads raining down on the taught, arpeggiated bass. When some old-school chords arrive at the midpoint, the club is sure to take off. Brodin then steps up with his fantastic Hulabaluba Remix, which is a much more party-starting and disco-fried version. The drums loop down low, the luxurious chords are warm and full of colour and the whole track exudes class. These are two very different but equally effective new remixes from the revived MB Disco.

The 71st release on International Feel is not only the wake-up-call from the label’s well-deserved lull, but also the constitution of Charlie Charlie.Consisting of Gabriella Borbély alias Bella Boo and Jens Resch better known as Chords, their genesis didn’t happen in their home port Stockholm, but on a beach in Southern California – and the music kid of gives it away, too. „Save Us“ takes a sun bath in pop melodies with infectious vocals of Mapei and a cabriolet ride on the proverbial highway, while „Charly“ is its instrumental counterpart that would sound good on any beach on this planet and was to be expected on a label like International Feel. Balearic on a meta-level and soon to be experienced in full album mode. Hey Charlie!

Blending vintage recording equipment and instruments with tweaks from the modern studio, the duo presents a loose, almost improvised sound that plays organically within the rigid confines of house music. Psychedelic echoey guitars clash with probing synth lines, live sounding rhythm sections, heavy kicks and singing cowbells, whilst deep bass lines and spare guitar licks blur the line between rigid, quantised sounds and AUF TOGO’s refreshing human touch.
After receiving much praiseby DJs and fans alike for their releases on Leng Records, AUF TOGO now returns with No Control EP, out on SaS Recordings, drawing on their knowledge of the past and the current club scene, giving the perfect mix of home listening fuzz and a late night dance floor.
The 12" vinyl comes in a branded SaS Recordings sleeve, and Side A is cut to 33rpm, whilst Side B cut to 45rpm.

Walls & Birds‘ debut on the Berlin label Beatbude! Recorded with the aid of “The Whitest Boy Alive” keyboarder Daniel Nentwig at the local Butterama Recording Center, the vinyl is accompanied by a fold-out poster and a digital bonus track. Much like their previous releases, “Less than a kilometer away” is Walls & Birds’ new take on popular music today. The first song “Wearing a Dress” touches on the theme of modern clothing habits, while questioning relationship patterns still widespread in popular music lyrics. The surprising element of new found love is also one of the themes of the B-side “Heads & Tales”, telling the story of a late night after work taxi ride with the chorus contemplating about the eternal either or question, plainly answered with: love. The cheerful upbeat digital bonus track “Summer 2002” is as meaningless as most nice pop songs these days.

It’s back to the heart of disco with the next release — our sixtieth! — in Most Excellent Unlimited’s long-running series of collaborations with master editor Danny Krivit, this installment on long-play 12-inch vinyl.

Our A-side features the work of Euro-disco maestro Alec Constandinos, whose symphonic suites and long form arrangements for stars like Cerrone and Don Ray made him an essential ingredient on many a glittering dancefloor in the late ’70s. Love & Kisses was one of his earliest disco projects, and one of his most popular. Their song (the “band” was a studio fabrication of Constandinos) “I Found Love” stretches across the entire side of an LP in its original form, but for discerning disc jockeys who leaned towards the funkier side of the spectrum, the percussion and bass breakdown is where it’s at. And if you are a long-time follower of Mr. K, it will come as no surprise that it is here that he focuses his metaphoric razor on the iconic breakdown, and we are left with a tough, driving track that will suit throwback sets as well as slot nicely into modern uptempo programming. As an added bonus, stick around to the very end when Krivit lets the song’s memorable acapella sample (“And I suppose you thought it was all over??”) finish it out.

It simply does not get much bigger than Donna Summer in the world of disco. Her song “Heaven Knows,” a duet with Brooklyn Dreams singer “Bean” Esposito, is one of the many gems in her catalog, and one that still evokes powerful reactions in heads, both old and new. Produced by the dream team of Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, the power and groove are propulsive and indisputable. Krivit begins with an extended "Mac Arthur Park" horn crescendo that teases the emotion before introducing a newly stripped down singalong verses and chorus of “Heaven Knows”. As the song progresses, a fabulous building effect until the end, a six-minute run through the clouds, enveloped in the ecstasy of that same horn crescendo. A sudden finale, fading into the ether, takes us out and leaves the listener (and DJ) with an open path of which musical road to take next, a master’s touch from an editor who excels at his craft.

Daniel Monaco is a musician who defies definition. An artist who is as comfortable strumming a bass as he is bending waveforms on his synths, this is a creative that guarantees something unique. Tu Sei Pazza more than meets that guarantee. The title track is an instant classic. Soft burbling basslines float around a steady kick before daring brass sections are punctuated by scaling xylophone lines. Somewhere between late 70s lounge music and strikingly modern disco, this piece will put a smile on any face. Whodamanny lands on the flip and takes the original to moonbase five via Studio 54. Tempos are reduced as a path of cosmic laser-funk is taken by the amazingly versatile Naples producer. A cracking close to a 7” that packs a real punch.

Eurorack tweaker, 8-bit master, king of carnival madness, Dutch producer Solo moderna is back with his female alter ego singer Krage, for some 80s flavored, chiptune infused, electro-latin bangers. Unofficial Electo-Funk anthems? Sweaty remakes from outta space? who knows.. the only unquestionable thing here is that loads of fun await the crowd when dropping this tasty 7” on the turntable. Certainly not your average tropical music, though.

The Sleepers RecordZ is proud to introduce Jolie Davenport to the world of modern funk music. The Austin, TX-based vocalist brings you two synth-centric hitters, both produced by the backbone of the Sleepers label, Ivan Makvel. In the course of just two tracks, Davenport covers all of the prerequisites for a well-rounded modern day boogie excursion. "Runaway" is made for the dance floor and isn't shying away from its polished, pop sensibility. The chorus is an earworm waiting to get pleasantly stuck in one's mind, gliding perfectly over frenetic bass notes and synth brass chords. "Like That," penned by modern funk mainstay Moniquea, balances the party by taking it to the streets. Makvel's production here is better suited for a cruise down the boulevard in a 60's-era Chevy rather than the club, yet it's also certain to incite involuntary movement the moment you press play. The New World is upon us once again. It has been seven years already, since Markus Gebauer debuted on Riotvan under the guise of his New World moniker. That's quite a while in the realm of those sometimes short-term goings-on of clubculture. Yet, Gebauer kept himself busy meanwhile with his alter ego Interviews, reviving the erstwhile identity now that times are calling for a New World more than ever. And that's both, very generally speaking and particularly regarding his slick and classy approach to Neo-Disco-affairs. Interestingly, the lion's share of this EP had been laid down already five years ago, in an ahead of the curve nature that it couldn't sound more up to date right now in 2020. Take opener "Glances" for example. Suspense-packed arpeggio meets a groove-laden bass, gets kissed by some smooth melodies and far-out pads and evokes an immense open-air-hymn potential. Here's a little advance notice: that tune might not leave your head for the whole rest of the summer. "Enough!" in its seductive nonchalance seems to be cut from the same cloth. Another Indie-Disco sureshot filtered through shades-lenses. But "Enough!" - seriously? The hereby summoned feelgood-vibe will surely leave you wanting more. And more you shall get. "Fade Out" opens up with a rather straight beat-pattern, but again, the synth-arrangements, the melodies and harmonies are pure bliss. And then there is "Poéme", that Frankophile floor-enchantment, shaped out in sophistication and elegance, throwing in some subtle Depeche Mode-references and taking the French leave as one of the strongest clubtracks in this batch. Closing things up is Juan MacLean, giving "Enough!" a makeover that aims for the dancefloor as much as, let's say the hammock, infusing both, an irresistible groove and a laid back, almost Dub-like attitude.

God Hour picks up where Bridge Boots left off putting Caserta right back to work doing what he’s come to be best known for; turning old school joints, usually not meant for the dance floor, into modern day heaters. 'Playa' takes a '70s ballad about the one who got away and makes it a little less heart wrenching and a lot more danceable! The A side features the full vocal surrounded by the driving bass, drums and horns any good disco record should have. With lush Rhodes, strings and synths to warm things up and make you wonder where things went awry even while you’re 2 stepping the night away. For those of you who cant come to grips with the fact that that special someone is gone or just plain hate lyrics then flip-er on over for a classic Caserta Dub.

After putting out re-edits of two never released before tracks by the seminal italo band Rainbow Team, Tojura are back on Full Time Production with a fine brand new EP, ready for the years of the raving fans of the label.
"Itria Valley" (in homage to the Apulia one) is such an irresistible modern disco number which receives a smooth treatment by M.B. Edit in addition to the Funk rework by Hector Romero & Ayala, followed by a Latin Afro Dub version delivered by Les Inferno that's perfect for getting weird on the dancefloor during the later hours of the evening.

After spending some time on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, Fred wrote his 2018 album Long Way Home. Barbarella was one of the songs on the album. It was inspired by a morning set he did at Barbarellas, the infamous outdoor venue in Tisno. The kitsch disco vibes are also a wink to the cult B-movie of the same name. But it was the 7am in Tisno mix, featured on the alternate version of the album No Way Home that made the song popular. While there was no plan to release it as a single, Fred had the idea to contact I:Cube, one of his all-time favourite producers, to see If he would be interested in remixing it. The process took a little while but thanks to confinement, with more available time in the studio, the I:Cube Parisian Sleeze Version was born. Taking only a few elements from the original, he completely rearranged the track into a modern disco classic as only the Cube can do. This is one of those cuts that gets better every time you hear it. On the B-side, Fred’s Slow Down 2021 Version expands on the Balearic vibe at a slower tempo. Sounding a little bit like Sade on acid, with added samples from the 1968 Jane Fonda movie.

After a relatively quiet 2018, 2019 has seen Craig Bratley back on form with edits and remixes on Magic Wand, Secret Fusion, Wonder Stories and Rebirth. This first release on new label Automatism sees Bratley continue to develop the themes presented on his ep for Futureboogie. The first track, 'Ursa Minor', is straight up cosmic disco. The influences behind 'Dark Matter' are apparent on hearing the first four bars and should strike a chord with fans of Vangelis and Carpenter. 'Exquisite Corpse' was previously released on a Throne Of Blood compilation. Here we have the Zero Gravity Mix , mixed down again and with the drums removed, we are presented with a new perspective, providing more space and dare I say it 'Gravity' Beautiful. To finish the EP, 'Running To Paradise' sees Bratley in full on Balearic mode and will sound perfect sat by the Adriatic

Two of the world's most seasoned disco editors, Michael The Lion and Jay Airiness have renewed their Franco-American alliance for another split-sided EP. The long-time friends and collaborators were last seen together dropping gems in 2016, and now they've reunited for a double-barreled sure-shot DJ-crate sure - four diverse cuts for all times of night.
Philadelphia-based Michael, best known for his work with Soul Clap Records and Razor-NTape, lets loose on the A-side with two secret weapons from his DJ sets - the aggressive, anthemic disco funker "Direction NYC" and the loopy burner "Don't Know”.
Jay, one of the hardest working producers in France is fresh from new efforts with his famed Venice Beach and DJ Moar projects. Second release for the label boRdeR Edits, which confirms its sound with four disco funk groove tracks, once again expertly cut and edited by RedRob. Despite the sounds remaining strictly classic without any modern nu-disco references, a much more dub-like structure makes them perfect for mixing in extremely eclectic dancefloors!

There's a mystical place in the heart of Rotterdam, oddly tucked in between the corporate buildings. Bright light boards and red velvet carpets, it's a small cinema that still breaths its old-school grandeur. That's where the Cinerama Adventures project was born, lead by its staff supervisor DJ Overdose. The result are two tracks that go from modern flavored freestyle to sleazy darkroom experiments, both accompanied by the instrumental versions.

Mr Bongo is proud to present three unique reworks of Kit Sebastian. Each of the producers featured in this package created their own interpretation of the 'lo-fi-hi-fi’ originals and have taken the duo’s sound into bold new directions. When it came to choosing who should remix Kit Sebastian, Natureboy Flako (Flako / Dario Rojo Guerra) was a producer at the top of our list. Keeping true to the original, whilst leaving his own stamp on the track, his mix adds break-beat drums and middle-Eastern guitar riffs that transform the track into a more cinematic piece. It sounds to us like the music from an exotica dive-bar scene in a David Lynch film - which of course, is a very good thing.
Producer and DJ Baris K, who was behind the awesome 'İstanbul 70' series (re-edits of classic Turkish gems), takes ‘Durma’ in a very different direction. Totally reconstructing the track, his remix has flipped the original and totally run wild. The results are an epic left-field electronic workout. By bringing the spoken-word vocals to the forefront and giving the track a darker industrial vibe, it wouldn't sound out of place bouncing around the walls of a Berlin basement club at 5am on a Sunday morning. The pairing of Kit Sebastian and Halal Cool J grew after DJing together at the alternative Great Escape party at the Mr Bongo HQ in May 2019. They share a love for dusty old psychedelic Turkish records. Halal Cool J (aka Aly Jamal / Don Leisure) has released records on First World and is a co-member of Darkhouse Family with Earl Jeffers. For his interpretation he has delivered a mix-tape-collage with a hip-hop aesthetic, and rather than focusing on remixing a specific song, he has cut and paste his favourite elements of tracks taken off the band’s 'Mantra Moderne’ album. Arn4l2 (pronouced arn-al-dos) aka Arnaldo Berdugo is a producer and DJ from Cartagena, Colombia. He grew up surrounded by music, namely the vinyl treasures that his grandfather accumulated as director of a local radio station in San Estanislao de Kotska, Bolívar, a Colombian Caribbean town with a large Afro-descendant population. In his productions, Arn4l2 combines Colombian musical traditions such as Bullerengue, Chalupa and Tambora with electronic elements such as synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines, resulting in a unique sound that reflects his own, strongly Africaninfluenced Caribbean vision. Galletas Calientes is proud to release his first solo project on vinyl: a collection of 5 upbeat tunes for the floor, blending Congolese soukous, Colombian Bullerengue, Nigerian highlife, Caribbean soca, and House; with a uniquely distinctive, progressive and psychedelic touch. His Colombian, Caribbean and African roots have been shaping this young producer’s personality as an artist and a human being, and the distinguished style he has developed over the years is definitely the result of all these influences. “Caribe” is the third volume of Galletas Calientes Records “Colombian Singles Series”, a series with a purpose of awakening interest in modern Colombian electronic music.

We scoured all the shelves in the soul pharmacy and discovered some potions that were only just through the trial stage. Just one listen to the brilliant Aretha, Gladys, Walter Jackson and the Purify’s tracks convinced us not to wait for FDA approval, so we took the plunge and shared them with the world on vinyl for the very first time. Recorded in 1968, Arthur Alexander‘s magnificent “I Need You Baby” reached legendary status during the tape-swapping epidemic of the late 70s/early 80s. The first traces of Alexanderitus were linked back to a tape dispensed by a north London mod by the name of Randy Cozens, which went viral. Even today, the mere mention of the title to any of those C60-swap-survivors can cause severe heart palpitations. Down in Memphis, they tend to practice the holistic approach to heartaches. Southern folk understand it’s about the voice and its natural healing powers, especially when it’s being administered by the likes of the Soul Children and Shirley Brown, who instinctively inject the perfect amount of ache, warmth and emotion to hit just the right spot. May we prescribe at least two listens a day, taken with or without food. Helping with recovery we have included tracks by our care team Maxine, Gil Scott-Heron and the Isleys, whose gentle grooves will help nurse you back onto the dance floor in record time. And finally, my personal favorite, Dr Johnnie Taylor. Frankly, it beats me how someone who delivers the lines "she don’t break no records when it comes to good looks” and “she burns up the food when she cooks" to his girlfriend manages to avoid a trip to A&E. We decided such foolish bravery should be rewarded by having his picture on the album cover.

Attraktors are a power trio, currently residing in Nottingham. Bass player John Thompson is a veteran of the 2-Tone ska revival, having done stints with both Bad Manners and The Selector. He also spent time in Davy Henderson’s wonderful avant / art pop outfit, The Nectarine No. 9. James Flower was a founding member of post-rockers, Six By Seven, where he supplied saxophone and keys. Antony Hodgkinson previously beat the skins for Derby 'alternatives', Bivouac, and collaborated with Julian Cope. Their debut, self-titled LP was released to some acclaim in the press, on Ali Renault`s Vivod label, last summer. The set referencing influences such as Depeche Mode, Eno, Harmonia, Human League, and Kraftwerk. Ron Basejam, from live-wire festival favourites, Crazy P, has now remixed two choice cuts for Brighton`s Higher Love. 'Heavy Water' rushes in on a siren-like synthetic fanfare, while dramatic, rattling percussion promises some kind of imminent lift-off. Mr. Basejam doesn’t disappoint, delivering a dynamite, deep, bottom-heavy chug, tested by depth-charge sonar blips. A menacing LFO arpeggio propelling the piece out onto the peak-time dance-floor. Its snarl softened slightly as Ron launches that fanfare once more. Moody, magnificent, body-moving, it drops down to a conga break, and then hits you with some real horns, before bringing that bolshy bastard of a beat back. 'Maximum Minimum' initially subdues, suckers, listeners with a more serene start - one of cinematic synths, and kosmische squiggles. Counterpointing this gurgling gear with theremin sighs and epic keyboard arcs. Suddenly this is all then set running, racing, to a riot of rumbling motorik funk. Chunkily bass-ed, its punk edges are eventually buffed by pretty prog harmonies, as the track evolves into an opulent, vocoder-ed, expanse. A piano rolling and rolling, as that robotic voice readies you for ignition on this righteous cosmic rocket. This 10" single comes with a free digital download of the Attraktors debut album. Having previously released on RNT as part of duo Balako, Diogo Strausz now makes his solo debut on the label with an absolutely stunning offering of electronic Brazilian jazz. A São Paulista now living in Paris, Strausz made international waves earlier this year with his piece ‘Pausa,’ a grand and sprawling orchestral work written and recorded by musicians around the world in isolation. The two songs on Strausz’ new Emancipação EP showcase his gift for instrumental composition that feels at once both fresh and timeless, informed heavily by the classic Bossa Nova and Samba repertoires of his native Brazil, yet translated through a modern production lens, and executed with exceptional musicianship. The end result is an undeniably unique sound that will fit equally well in the collections of jazz and MPB aficionados, as in the crates of modern DJs and listeners alike.

8 years after the official reissue of the LP “An Eye For An Eye” by Byrne & Barnes, Favorite Recordings proudly presents this new single release. The 7inch first includes the classic “Love You Out Of Your Mind”, extracted from the WestCoast classic LP, which was a one-stop collaboration between Robert Byrne and Brendan Barnes, however both display incredible music career and went on to produce for famous artists such as Pointer Sisters, Patti Austin, Earth Wind & Fire, or Phil Collins to name just a few. The song parades all the elements of the AOR style: a jazzy sometimes fusion approach, with modern soul and groove flavors. The other side features an exclusive and unreleased track by Robert Byrne, dug by the original executive producer up in his archives for our great pleasure. “Do You Wanna Make Some Love” is also nurtured with Westcoast and AOR vibes, while leering to Boogie and Disco influences. We have no doubt it will delight all the Byrne & Barnes music lovers and many more.
