Admittedly, being able to embrace someone back into your life, when they seem to have never left might be a little strange - but that’s exactly how it feels with Âme, one of clubland’s mainstays, consisting of Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann. Case in point: they’re certainly not getting tired of gracing stages big and small with their DJ sets and live performances around the globe, yet “Asa“ actually presents their first original material since three years. Particular track sees the duo on top of their game, as it offers another example of peak time dance floor that is still so much more than just the sum of its components. “Asa“ is big, joyful, euphoric, and sonically adventurous. It relies on repetition, but no single part is allowed to stagnate before everything finally culminates in a symphony of daring synths, driving beats and dueling melodies. It’s a spectacle that might or might not be the musical notification of something way bigger heading our way.

KiNK & Raredub inaugurate new sub-label Spectra on SHDW's Mutual Rytm, backed by remixes from icon Marcel Dettmann.

Spectra is a new sub-label from contemporary techno powerhouse Mutual Rytm, with the project set to showcase memorable singles alongside feature innovative remixers. The name Spectra reflects the wide range of vibes the label will deal with and the diversity of sounds that emerge through these creative reinterpretations.

Needing little introduction, Bulgaria's KiNK is a synth wizard and live specialist who gets more out of machines than anyone else on Earth. He has dropped endless standout tunes ranging from Running Back to Hypercolour and, more recently, Mutual Rytm with his 'Quantum Shake' EP earlier this year. For this latest outing, he works with fellow Bulgarian talent Raredub, known for his own high-octane, distinctive and dynamic sound that has gained supporters From Fjaak to Paul Woolford.

The original 'Time to Change' has already generated buzz and has been a favourite of DJs from across the electronic realm, bringing a forceful and slamming cut with plenty of machine funk. A buzzy lead synth roams through the mix to bring great menace, while garage-like percussive loops keep things moving over a monstrous bassline.

One of techno's most influential DJs and producers, long-time Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann joins the release to offer his unique touch as the first remixer on the project. His 'Reconstruction' brings subtle nuances as he slows the beats to a more dubbed-out house vibe and layers in bright synths and swirling vocal loops that will get hands in the air. His 'Universal Raw Mix' closes the package in style, delivering a stripped-back roller with freaky vocals and eerie synth details.

Just a little over two years since the release of his debut album Opening the Door, Jack re-emgerges with a new full length album. On Blue Desert, the Australian-born Vancouver-based multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer wades deeper into the stylistically prismatic pool of his own creation: melancholy dub-funk, jangling psychedelia, moon-burnt sophisti-pop and stained glass folk mutations float freely together.

Entirely self-produced at Mood Hut Studios in Chinatown, Vancouver between 2022 and 2024, the album picks up where Opening the Door left off; the songwriting concise and refined, the voice front and centre on almost every song, the pensive mood irresistible and dense.

The apparently effortless melodic interplay of voice, guitar, synthesizers and bass that Jack is well known for is ever present but despite the clear-eyed harmonies and energetic rhythms there is a shadow that quietly haunts the album. The lyrical buoyancy of his early EPs and even some of the more explicitly sunburnt instrumental moments of his last record have continued to fade and peel like paint. Regret, remorse and melancholy are woven into almost every turn of phrase; the self-deprecating longing of Tracey Thorn and Sade Adu can be heard alongside the plaintive echos of Mark Hollis and Arthur Russell. The Mood Hut Records founder and NTS host digs deeper in all the directions that he only brushed upon on Opening the Door, creating a kaleidoscopic index of his omnivorous listening habits: from Underworld to Kate Bush, Disco Inferno to Bryan Ferry, Julian Cope to Arthur Verocai.

It's been four eventful years since Keinemusik's Adam Port, &ME and Rampa joined forces and laid down their collaborative debut album ‘You Are Safe.’ Taking time to explore new territories and sourcing material for their second offering, 'Send Return' is the product of this creative 'time-out:' a positive message requiring positive feedback, and hopefully making things a little better along the way. Limited repress on blue vinyl, 1000 copies worldwide! A bootleg experiment that got out of hand, Oden & Fatzo’s Radio 1 A-listed single is the accidental hit that everyone is talking about. So how do you go about making an ‘accidental hit’, by accident of course... The track came about when French DJ Fatzo tried to demonstrate the difference between an edit and a remix to his dad, “... I took a song from the band Men I Trust, sped it up and added a drum beat and violin. After playing it to Oden, they loved it, and in turn, added their secret ingredients.” Unlike the name might suggest, Oden & Fatzo consists of three people: The Parisian underground collective are a powerful fusion of the electronic live duo Oden, and house DJ Fatzo. Back in 2020 a bootleg version of ‘Lauren’ was uploaded to the YouTube channel of the electronic label Novaj, kicking off an unforeseeable wave of enthusiasm. That video is now approaching 3 million views. Enthralled listeners begged for a commercial release, a year later Ministry of Sound/B1 cleared the sample and the track started its march across the airwaves and up the charts. With its captivating beat and nostalgic catchiness, ‘Lauren’ makes up for the party nights lost to the pandemic lockdowns, and sees people dancing in their homes and on the streets, as concerts, parties, and live sets are finally making a return. As the trio put it: “This song was all about hope, freedom and a party atmosphere at a time when you couldn't go anywhere. We think it gave everyone who heard it a little bit of an escape, including us.” Meanwhile in the UK, the track has seen early support, not only by names like Franky Wah, Danny Howard, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Jax Jones, Jodie Harsh, Hugel, Bakermat, Cut Snake, Salomé Le Chat, Piem, David Gausa and many more, but also by the incredibly ecstatic party crowds.

Re-release of the record originally released on 2007-02-12! Aaahh, how nice. A long awaited dream comes true. Aril Brikha has made a new record. And that this is being released on Kompakt doesn´t make us only very happy, but also a little bit proud. Because despite of Aril´s fame, his output is quite thin on the ground. There have only been 5 releases of him yet. One on Fragile. Two on Transmat. One on Absoluttracks and one on Music Man. Most of them already have the classics status. On this Winter EP there is no new "Groove la Chord", but still: What these two tracks are doing to the dancefloor has scarcity value nowadays: There is a lot of smiling, jumping and kissing. Therefore we give him the order of merit. Thank you Aril!

Trelik returns with a repackaged edition of one of the catalogue's most treasured releases. "Overcome" and "Lady Science (NYC Sunrise)" need little introduction, and now come sporting the new TR11:11 matrix number. Written and produced by Thomas Melchior and Baby Ford aka Soul Capsule, these tracks came from one of the many sessions recorded at the West London Ifach Studio in 1999. On the A Side "Overcome" is stripped back and energetic, driven by rolling and shuffling garage style beats, tight bubbling bass and atmospheric synth pads. The intermittent vocal samples and the release's signature organ set you up for the flip, "Lady Science (NYC Sunrise)". Possibly one of house music's most emotive pieces, the track builds slowly with the introduction of each part building a story of soulful optimism based around a sparse palette of deep synths, uplifting keys and warm analogue bass. The understated beauty of the main vocal riff never seems to grow old or tired with the track lending itself perfectly to either main room, peak-time play or after-hours sessions alike. Billy Lo keeps it high-class on this expansive new 12" from the French folks at Cosmocities. It is house music that is couched in the traditional US style but with plenty of his own unique embellishments. Importantly, the melodies are meaningful and fresh and add everything from bittersweetness to joy to the dusty, paired back and nicely undercooked grooves. 'Let Ur Body Werk' is the sort of steamy sound that will get close-knit backroom crowds all in a sweat and up close and personal and 'Sho Me Ur Luv' brings a little US garage skip to the analogue drums. Spoken words elevate each tune to work on mind, body and soul in equal measure.

Here comes the Booom!!! Edits label with another sublime selection of deep house burners. This third volume is from the artist who goes by the name of Earls Booom!!! Edits takes the form of four cuts titled 'NEP.' Th opener is awash with smoky pads and sombre chords over a mid-tempo and dusty groove, but things pick up on the second cut with its gorgeous r&b vocals swirling over warm and humid bass and drums as cosmic synth lines rise out of the mix. On the flip, there is a congo-heavy rhythm topped with a deft little r&b hook nice more and the closer brings more pumping grooves but still with a big heart. These are steamy backroom sounds of the highest order.

Artist, DJ, Producer, Remixer and A/V Designer - born in New York and now living in Berlin - Fred P. has encompassed what it truly means to be an artist in the 21st century. With a discography growing exponentially year after year, he continues to push forward in his sound and his mind. These two new interpretations of his constitute a little jewel in which Fred P. offers us a skilful blend where afro, jazz and house music create a cosmic spiritual journey at times nocturnal, suitable for the most sophisticated dance floors - in both cases with different rhythmic patterns, broken-afro for “African Spirits” and cosmic-house for “Tribes”, Fred creates here an open space, deep and simply at the centre of the music!

Now for the first time on Source Records, this 12“ kicks off with Aspiration 2010, a subtle and slow building Deep Acid House track evolving across the entire side A. On the B-side the title track “Something ’Bout The D“ takes the vibe back to 90s oldschool Detroit inspired house music - spiced with some 909 euphoria, some uplifting chords and a technoid, abstract but soothing melody. Closing out the 12“ on B2 is the much beloved and hard to find Move D contribution to Out To Lunch’s “Airbag Craftworks Vol. 2“ compilation “Marshmellow Boots“. A hypnotic and bouncing hookline is transformed over surrounding synth stabs and dubs. A subdued fluffy little groover in a typical Move D trademark fashion.

A1. Super Flu – Nos Crub
"Nos Crub" is another work by the Halle-based tech house export Super Flu that lands on our 30 years of Muna sampler. In typical Super Flu style, there is a harmonious composition with a synthesizer theme, subtly spiced strings and piano tracks, as well as a psychedelic-tinged vocal. The whole thing is based on a bassline that is absolutely suitable for clubs and goes wonderfully with everything from a club to a huge open air venue.
A2. Marco Resmann - Zero In
There is also a contribution from Marco Resmann to our 30 years of Muna compilation. "Zero In" is a beautiful piece of house music, starts atmospherically, builds up with added instrumental tracks and a kind of psychedelic vocal to create a beautifully saucy listening experience, far from prime time mass-produced algorithm optimized house! Category: Morning hours, recommendation: listen on repeat!
AA1. Sarah Wild – Night Shift
Sarah Wild adds "Night Shift" to our 30 years of Muna compilation. The driving piece starts with some break beats in the first few seconds, builds up nicely with some electronica elements and a spherical synth pattern and stands on a stable base of a club-friendly bassline!
AA2. Sierra – Dirty Thirty
Our local hero Sierra contributed the piece called "Dirty Thirty" with a wink to our 30 years of Muna compilation. A clean house piece with a bassline that could be described as well-fed. A subtle vocal, little acid and some synth sounds finish the tune wonderfully.
B1. Mathias Kaden – Muna 1994
With Mathias Kaden an artist who truly and undoubtedly belongs to the DNA of Muna also delivers a work to our 30 years of Muna compilation. With "Muna 1994" the title itself is a homage to the club and in 6:16 minutes it accurately describes what happens here regularly in the hall and foyer - driving powerhouse with a typical Mathias Kaden sound! An energetic bassline mixes with hi hat and clap, along with harmoniously arranged synth themes and vocals that come in at exactly the right time.
B2. Douglas Greed – Sleeping in Shifts
A song by the Berlin based Douglas Greed, “Sleeping in Shifts,” also ends up on our 30 years of Muna compilation. A wonderfully complex and melodic piece of electronic dance music. Spherical sounds, synths or vocals, the individual tracks begin smoothly and are arranged in a melancholic mood with an almost instrumental like drum loop. As usual from him, much more than just a dance floor tool!
BB1. Kristin Velvet – Katamaran
Kristin Velvet's "Katamaran" is part of our 30 years of Muna compilation. A beautiful, slightly twisted house piece that fits perfectly with the first rays of sunshine on an open air floor in summer. A dominant synth theme runs through the entire tune, varies very pleasantly and
increases the atmosphere in the tune until a break in the last third. The danceability of the bassline remains constant.
BB2. Norman Weber feat JuKa – Fabulous Muna
We'll take that as a compliment! With "Fabulous Muna", a tune by Norman Weber also appears on our 30 years of Muna compilation. Together with JuKa, he serves up a wonderfully soulful piece of house. Percussion, kick drum and a wavy bass track form the basis, plus there are subtle synth sounds, pads and vocals. Diverse, Latin-like and groove in its DNA! This Sound fits the Muna like photo dumps in the timelines of people under 30 and really makes you want to dance!
C1. Robag Wruhme – Trip-This
As an artist and person also part of the history and present of the Muna club - with "Trip This" there is also a piece of music on our 30 years of Muna sampler created by Robag Wruhme. The connoisseur can certainly name the artist and year of production after the first 15 seconds. The typical floating Robag Wruhme bassline can also be found here. After all the elements are introduced in the first half, a break is followed by a wonderful marriage of all tracks to a deep, melancholic finale of this tune!
C2. Thomas Stieler – Meet You At Foyer
Full-time nice guy and Munich resident by choice Thomas Stieler also sends us a tune for our 30 years of Muna compilation. “Meet you at the Foyer” can and should be understood as an invitation to visit us! The modern, clean piece of house music grooves excellently and arranges all tracks wonderfully equally and without any hecticness. The wobbly bassline creates an energetic and danceable base to this great produced song.
CC1. Daniel Stefanik – In Search of Slowly
Daniel Stefanik from Leipzig, a Muna veteran, has also created a tune for our 30 years of Muna long player "In Search of Slowly" is a wonderfully slightly swirly, deep piece of house music. The powerful bassline, together with a surface sound in the background, frames a dominant, spacey synth theme. A tune for the early hours of the morning, not packed, just right and with a lot of pressure from the subs!
CC2. TKR – Anymore
Muna stands for diversity since its birth! So our 30 years of Muna compilation also includes broken beats, which have always been part of Muna. With "Anymore", Jena based drum'n bass veteran TKR contributes a wonderfully melancholic liquid DnB tune. Surfaces that are reminiscent of early Chase & Status works, a smooth and very subtle piano and a never intrusive.
D1. Matthias Tanzmann – You Just
With "You Just" there is a piece of house music by Matthias Tanzmann that practically screams for the dance floor on our 30 years of Muna compilation. The first few seconds of crisp hi-hats get you dancing straight away, and the beat that starts after makes it clear. What follows is an energetic interplay of percussion, deep synth sounds and a very subtle vocal, all that in a harmonic way. Makes you want to go to Ibiza, whether it's a club or a beach party!
D2. youANDme – All Fine
In addition to a calendar jam-packed with international gigs and productions for many other labels, youANDme also contributes a tune to our 30 Years of Muna sampler with "All Fine". The deep, atmospheric piece of house music comes minimally from the speakers, but feels absolutely complete. The deep bassline is complemented by slightly broken percussions, a minimalistic piano sound and is crowned by a subtle vocal.
DD1. Leeni & Danilo Kupfernagel – Vida Única
With "Vida Única", a fresh piece of House Music by Leeni & Danilo Kupfernagel also lands on our 30 years of Muna record. What comes along as a classic house stomper in the first few seconds develops into a beautifully melodic, atmospheric tune through the spherical surface that starts as smooth as peach skin after 30 seconds. It slowly builds up over the next 4 minutes, always leaving room for the absolutely danceable bass line.
DD2. 2HundredEight feat Matti – Pretend
Electronic dance music has also included broken beats since the end of the 80s. It's all the better that we have included some of these tunes on the 30 Years of Muna sampler as well. "Pretend" is contributed by 2HundredEight, who brings in the otherwise guitar-experienced singer MATTI and creates a wonderfully melancholic piece of work. A minimalist piano sample, a broken DnB beat and an ever-present deep bassline, all spiced up with the powerful, bright vocals of the Leipzig based singer. Great cross-genre work!
E1. Luna City Express feat. Kenneth Avera – 30 YRS of Muna
Luna City Express were a little uncreative when it came to choosing a name, but "30 YRS of Muna" with Kenneth Avera is a piece of music bursting with positive energy that ends up on our 30 Years of Muna compilation. After a standard house intro with a powerful kick drum, a very present hi-hat and clap, there are synth sounds, vocals and a saxophone track. The whole thing comes together to form an energetic tune that leads to an shaking musculoskeletal system and simply puts you in a good mood!
E2. Click Click & Defex feat. Leah Raider – Raw Cutz 6.1
With “Raw Cutz 6.1” Click Click & Defex feat. Leah Raider contribute a piece to the 30 years of Muna compilation too. A house kind club tool with a slightly overdriven, snotty bassline an acid pattern and a subtle, breathy vocal. Definitely gets in your leg and leads to acute dance movements!
EE1. Langstrumpf – Drop Out
Langstrumpf also insisted on serving up a song for our 30 years of Muna compilation. "Drop That" comes with a powerful bassline, flanked by an acid-like sound, and the whole thing is spiced up with playful, choral sounds. It fits from warm-up to the morning, builds up nicely and pushes!
EE2. TimBrix – Sound Invasion
With "Sound Invasion" TimBrix also delivers a drum'n bass tune for our 30 years of Muna LP. This thing can easily do 20 pull-ups, pushes 174 kilos and combines an energetic bassline suitable for prime time with a clear vocal and razor-sharp synth sounds that are slightly
reminiscent of neurofunk. All of this is served on a typical DnB drum pattern that seems to scream: Go ahead mate!
EE3. Politone – Thirty Prayers
Politone, one of our residents, also contributes a piece to the 30 Years of Muna sampler. With "Thirty Prayers", he has created a minimalistic but absolutely well-trained house record. The few tracks complement each other and blend together very smooth. The symbiosis of the synth theme and the slightly reggae-like echo vocal go perfectly with the powerful kick drum and can lead to stomping dance moves at any time of day or night.

Floating above the clouds you’ll find the silkiest producers making their beats. Specialising in smooth, breezy flavours; they are individuals who like to inject some sunshine onto the dancefloor. For the third outing Silky Beats are excited to welcome Henry Hodson for their first artist EP.

Henry has created a special little universe full of luscious sounds and smooth, airy grooves. Come and step inside.

To continue our LP series, this time we are welcoming back Δ which will mark a second full album on the label. The mysterious dirty D has prepared a 9-track LP to once again showcase his ability to be able to immerse himself in the mystic of the electronic groove. To have this artist come up for the label once again with the biggest work to date is an incredible honor and the testament to the synergy of older sound and newer that aims be a powerful tale on the modern dancefloor. “Garbage World” is what the story is about, provoking a thought of the population that made it this way with their over consumption, greed and neglection of the beautiful things that deserve love and care in life. Our globe that induced a great level of pain due to its inhabitants and still manages to hold it together despite bleeding profoundly. This has been illustrated by the art of our visual guru Geka in the style of the art of tattoo. The LP is not guaranteed to fix it, but for sure should make it a little bit better in right hands and minds.

For MotorCity Wine’s lucky 13th record they head over to Japan, where their friends Dctl (aka DJ Duct & Masafumi Telly Onishi) deliver a 4-tracker of heady sample-based Detroit-influenced beatdown house and downtempo. The titular “Deep Tannin” leads off the EP with peak hour drums, soulful vocal stabs, and jazzy keyboards, featuring the brilliant Detroit-based multi-instrumentalist Rafael Leafer on a grip of woodwinds. “Refugee” follows inna beatdown stylee, sounding like 3 Chairs at their finest— this one’s for the heads and discerning dance floors. “Little Dancer” continues the beatdown theme but cranks up the tempo a little more, delivering dusty loopy jazz-tinged deep house perfection. The gorgeous “2 Bottles” closes this EP, showing Dctl’s brilliant downtempo instrumental hip-hop MPC skills. Super Rhythm Trax is excited to welcome 303 enthusiast and incredible conceptual artist (check out his website) Yuri Suzuki to the label. Yuri serves up 4 acidic tracks that are perfect fit for the label, all of them giving you that little bit extra, burrowing deep into the groove whilst giving plenty of extra elements to push the listener that bit further ‘out there’.

Yuri has collaborated many times with DMX Krew and appeared on labels as diverse as Matthew Herbert’s Accidental Jnr, Jared Wilson’s 7777 and Chicago’s mighty Trax records.

Here we have another offering from GB on his Technoindigenous Studies label. The spirit of all his Gifted & Blessed productions remains, but this time the tools used to create the music differ. Upon finding what he thought was an old broken toy Yamaha keyboard tossed in a trash bin, GB decided to take the toy home and see what it did. For years it sat unused while he kept creating with his usual analogue setup, but he later realized that hidden within the toy keyboard was a vast array of sounds which, via Midi, he used to produce this offering. Here were have five pieces made with that little old Yamaha synth. This approach sums up what technoindigenous studies is all about: using the technology of those before him to explore uncharted territory with a modern twist.

We are supporting the music of the Fognini Brothers ever since they put themselves on the map of the international electronic music scene. Similar as it is the case with us, Mind Against also select their output very carefully and this also reflects in their DJ sets that can be long and challenging at times. Like their sets also their discography speaks for itself; with a variety of originals, remixes and collaborations, that are not bound to one genre, Alex and Freddie already left a mark in the more melodic realm of techno and house and are continuing to do so in full force. We are happy to have them on board and it is great to see that their interpretation of our 'Home' is so well received.

Big name pile up alert! Frankie Knuckles and fellow Chicago producer Ricky Sinz team up for a funky house outing that has classic written all over from the moment its R&B-slanted vocal starts to wind your around its little finger and the pumping, stripped down 80s groove kicks into life. Orlando Voorn delves even further back for inspiration on his remix, shimmering in disco strings, before Ben Sims carves out two harder-edged mixes that nestle neatly on the house/divide, both playing a single bass note off against restless rhythms.

The third vinyl release of Loser Records comes in form of a happy-hands-up collaboration between label co-founder Michal Zietara and all beloved multi talent Kid Simius. Peak Time EP is full of positive energy and summer vibes, consisting out of three tracks by the duo and a mind blowing remix of Smallville‘s Julius Steinhoff.

Once Michal Zietara and Kid Simius met for the first time, they immediately found themselves on the same wavelength and there was no going back. Straight away, within their first studio session together the first track came to life in a playful manner that can be felt throughout the whole EP. One can sense the longing of two of Berlin’s favourite sunny boys for spending time together with friends on the dance floor, when listening to „peak time“ and „get together“.

Smallville’s Julius Steinhoff rounds up the release with, an emotional and exceptional remix for „peak time“.

All in all the EP provides the perfect soundtrack for celebrating life together on dance floors across Europe this summer.

Pancratio serves up the 2nd hotly anticipated part of his Korghettini Electronics project on One Trip To Avyon.

Pancratio: In the early 2000s, Korg invented, engineered and distributed four little instruments called Electribes. A drum machine, one analog modeling synthesizer, a sampler and a music workstation respectively called ER1, EA1, ES1 and EM1. Initially I always found it very difficult to use them in my studio, because they weren’t really fitting with the sound and the workflow. Between march and may 2020, I stopped worrying about trying to force the Electribes into the setup: i just put them together and started jamming, recording several tracks without using anything else apart from these little boxes and their own effects… eventually sampling a few things along the way with my headphones into the ES1.

The title, as well as the aesthetic of the project, are inspired by a future-retro approach to early electronics and 70s Italian product advertisement.

Brothers Gerardo and Emanuel Cedillo aka Soul Of Hex are making serious waves right now. Born and raised in Mexico’s infamous border city Tijuana the duo have been immersed in the underground house and techno scene DJing, promoting events, performing live sets on their trusty Elektron hard- ware and releasing underground floor fillers for labels such as Quintessen- tials, Secret Crunch, Cvmr and Dirt Crew as well as running their own Vicario imprint. Most recently, they have not only established a new venue Marko Disco in TJ, but also a new moniker Mano De Fuego and release dropping in April on Underground Resistance no less!

Here on the Mystic EP we find a little bit of that UR electro inspiration rubbing up against classic late 80’s US vocal house, crunchy disco grooves and driving Italo. Love Is In Control features the vocals of Steve Lucas of Fusion Groove Orchestra/If Only I Could fame and elsewhere we have vocal features from More Lotion and Temporal Wangan. In theory, this could be a miss mash of pastiche ideas but in the hands of Soul Of Hex the authenticity shines through and we’re presented with a brilliant 4 track EP which will appeal to electronic music fans and DJ’s across the board. SOH delivering the good stuff once again!

Oi! This is Nathan Kofi, introducing; “Voltage Controlled Love Affair”. A story about love, love for frequencies, love for the journey, love for the culture and love for ‘the self’. This record will be my debuting ep since my name changed from Nathan Surreal to Nathan Kofi. And that transformation is evident throughout this ep. The A-side kinda represents ‘the old me’. A1: My Heart Will Go On and A2: Words of Affirmation are both tracks made a little while ago and are cut out of the same wood; a family affair if you wish. They consist of similar samples and thus share sonic DNA, yet reveal two completely different characters in their experience. Both tracks are fundamentally rooted in a classic ‘house’ ethos and display the use of vocals to enhance the listening experience while it progresses to its full potential. Although the “a1” exudes a more galvanising upbeat energy with a strong pulse triggering bodily movements, the “b1” takes a different route and evokes a more collective meditative journey; hence the title. Moving over to the b-side. This side represents a new me; personally and musically. Both tracks are rooted in a sense of authenticity and fresh renewed energy. This side moves away from the 4-to-the-floor formula and introduces breaky patterns and melodic experiments. While a lot of people, including myself suffered through several lockdowns triggering mental struggles as a consequence, I had a really hard time finding peace and balance in life and in the studio. B1: ‘Platonic Intimacy’ is the result of many frustrating studio sessions trying to find my mojo back; trying to reinvent myself to rekindle the experience of bliss and joy while music-making. This track, in particular, brings up the topic of writer's block, mental health and blockages alike artists are suffering from. But when those demons are fought, those barriers are broken, mountains are moved – It is the start of something new, and beautiful; ‘Platonic Intimacy’. The B2: ‘Candy Girl’, in essence, a straight-up sugar-coated electro banger with a mood, yet simultaneously signifies the power of ‘reclaiming’ what is yours. Best, Nathan Kofi

It works in clubs. it works at after hours. Also, small bars vibrate meaningful on it: the music of Kuniyuki Takahashi enthralls everywhere and is made for heedful listeners, that love the thrill of little musical nuances, shifting in a deeply composed ocean of sound.

In terms of composition, melodic sensitivity, and subtle progression the music of japanese producer, Sound designer and dj stands out. Ambient, Future-Jazz, Deep House, Leftfield Elec-tronics: since more then 25 years the man from Sapporo expresses his emotions with a wide stylistic range.

As Kuniyuki or under pseudonyms like Koss or Newwave project, he released a body of work consisting of numerous albums and EP’s, that display his deep musical consciousness pro-foundly. Now his home label Mule Musiq drops “Remix Works “, an eighth tune strong compila-tion featuring for the second time since 2013 Kuniyuki Takahashi’s very own virtuosity of re-mixing.

A double vinyl that carries the full pallet of his skills – from yacht rock leaning synth-pop and balearic dreams to sweet wave signals and soulful Pop House.

It all starts with Kuniyuki’s Remix of “Plateau”, a tune by japanese Nu-Jazz / Post‐Rock band mouse on the keys, released in 2013 on the short living japanese retalk label. An epic, almost ten-minute-long house voyage, full of discreet acid shades and enlightening Jazz chords, that play spirited tricks on each other’s manic musical preaching.

Butterbandz returns with another absolute Banger of an EP ‘King Heroin’. This is his second EP on the 7 Days Entertainment imprint and he is serving up some Dope tracks. From start to finish you’ll be sure to find a groove you’ll enjoy. ‘Prometheus’ starts off the EP with an energetic techno track. It’s got a punchy synth over a sub bass with dreamy synth chords and some rockin’ drum programming. The second track ‘Get Down’ is simple yet effective. It’s got that Detroit feel that we all love and enjoy. Not really structured, kind of just flowing. The drums are knocking and the hi- hats are keeping up that energy. It’s a got a rough rugged bass paired with a synth that carries feelings of deep rage and clarity. Tying it all together is the vocal sample. For the title track ‘King Heroin’ Butterbandz teams with his older brother Generation Next to create this gem. It’s got some deep emotion but it will make you move nonetheless. Excellent high energy drum programming, distance reverbed synth pad, catchy piano pattern, in your face lead synth, and a off putting sub bass. These two artists make a dynamic duo. Lastly is ‘OD Soundtrack’ tying together a hard hitting EP with a little laid back tune to take you to a higher more peaceful place. The synth pad carries that smooth calm sound and then the kick is in your face out the gate. It’s got some airy flutes and grooving lead synth. This EP is going to be a staple in the growing legend of Butterbandz.

Good Vibrations Music dives straight into 2022 with a bang courtesy of ‘Harold Matthew Jr’ (aka Big Ed) with his long player project; "Peripheral Vision".

Chicago-based Harold wrote his first releases in the early 90’s with artists like Ron Trent, Terry Hunter, Maurice Joshua and Ron Carroll with songs such as "Ritual Of Love" and Barbara Tucker’s "I Get Lifted". Throughout the late 90’s he was well known for his songs under his ‘Blak Beat Niks’ alias with production partner K. Fingers on PAN Records, Large Music and his own label Melodious Fonk with "The Sun Will Shine". The 2000’s saw him move on to further projects with the likes of Slip N Slide, Mark Knight, Peppermint Jam, Glenn Underground, Makin’ Moves and Sean McCabe.

Moving into the next chapter, "Peripheral Vision" is a genre-spanning journey, drawing influences from a multitude of angles and providing a true reflection of Harold’s passion for song writing and spoken word, with a host of guest producers and vocalists.

"Deep Into My Sleep" opens the release and brings Cardiff’s ‘Black Sonix’ to the party and Harold’s sublime vocals provide the narrative to the afro tinged beats. It’s got soulful undertones a plenty with warm rushes of BVs and percussive rhythms to keep feet dancing way into the late night hour.

"Put Your Hands Together" gets serious on the dancefloor with driving beats and an explosion of synth flicks, hits and stabs. It’s Sean’s subtle nod to the Trax era, suggested by Harold, and set to become a firm fave with those that like their groove a little more analogue.

Effortlessly moving through the soulful gears, Harold and Sean McCabe’s "Into You" brings guest vocalist Dawn Williams onboard for a lazy, hypnotic and sumptuous slice of house. Set amongst an uplifting backdrop of smooth chords and lushed out riffs, the vocalists playfully bounce off each other asking questions and telling answers whilst keeping all elements sat firmly in the sweet spot.

Another Cardiff-based producer ‘DJ Fill’ shifts up the groove with "Pause". Still oozing the soul but with a more Hip Hop-meet-Broken Beat vibe and peppered with smooth Rhodes, niggly electronic arps and a bassline that ain’t letting you go. Harold and Syl Messi go head to head with the lyrics, bringing together a smooth and edgy vocal balance for something truly special and unique.

Proving that all good things must come to an end, the title track "Peripheral Vision" closes things out featuring guest raps and production from Chicago’s own ‘Nickel Slick’ on their mission to rebuild and re-educate through the power of lyrics. It’s a heartfelt track with a strong and relevant message for today’s testing times.
