Richard Lamb’s second and (presumably) final release under this moniker is a bit of a special one. Lamb starts off with ‘Salt Lick’. A track with beautiful, lush, sunny sounds that lure you into an unexpected world of electro, heavy bass and more dance orientated tracks like ‘A Life In Harmony’. Following up his first EP ‘Automatic Tango’ on his own Montreal based Temple imprint, there’s still hints of early Moog greasiness but overall it’s a more decisive production compared to the previous one. Intricately layered percussion mixed together with dreamy pads take you on a journey to a hidden Utopia where tight arrangements and tribal-esque rhythms dictate the pace. Once more we are shown how versatile Lamb’s productions are and how he juggles genres freely, ranging from dub to electronica, experimental, idm and techno.

The second side of this EP features two remixes by non other than Norwegian DJ and producer DJ Sotofett. A heavyweight in the electronic music scene who needs little introduction takes on the EP’s title track ‘A Life In Harmony’ and turns it into two electro-acid pieces ready to tear up any dance floor, or anything else for that matter. Surrender to the acid and indulge in these masterful tracks.

Exegesis I' is the debut EP from Uncoiled, a new record label focusing on productions made with the Colundi Sequence, a non-standard tuning system created by Grant Wilson-Claridge and popularized in recent years by Aleksi Perala. In a departure from the familiar tonality exemplified by Perala's work, Lonefront delivers the label's inaugural offering through an extension of the Colundi Sequence with his interpretations based on community research. Tracks '6' and '21' balance the holistic deployment of calculated parameters with techno idioms focused on connecting to dance-floors. Initially releasing on Oscilla Sound, then following up with records on Intramuros and FTD, E-Unity gained wider recognition when Resident Advisor described "post-Livity techno with a dreamy twist, from this promising young Frenchman". His next release – on Temǝt – saw him inaugurate the imprint with the ‘Duo Road’ EP – four tracks of electronic futurism, jerky rhythms and dubbed-out frequencies.

‘bbb<3’ is an LP of club ballads that echo his influences, ranging from hyper-pop, Latin music, the hardcore continuum and post-dubstep stylings, featuring heavy bass mutations, spacey synths and hybrid rhythmic compositions.

In an uncertain world, E-Unity takes the opposite approach to a lot of contemporary electronic music which is always faster, harder and somehow dystopian. Instead he offers a record filled with sensibility, love and positivity, fighting the evil forces with heart emojis and sub-reinforced sonic weapons.

E-Unity shows extraordinary musicality and eclecticism throughout his productions and DJ mixes. His b2b set with Simo Cell at Positive Education Festival and former monthly residency on Rinse France solidified his notoriety as an adventurous yet thoughtful selector.

Temǝt was launched by Simo Cell with a mission to release cross-genre electronic music, placing focus on the French music scene, whilst developing collaboration across different artistic disciplines. Previous artists to release on the label are Lolito, Less-O, Second., elise, E-Unity and Simo Cell, plus additional contributions from Low Jack, Peverelist and Skee Mask for their mix cassette series.

Legendary minimal - and acid house before that - pioneer Baby Ford very much set the blueprint for the genre back in the late 90s, both solo and with The Ifach Collective, who featured Ian Loveday, Mark Broom and Thomas Melchior (amongst others). Now they are reminding us of the greatness of that work with the first in a series of reissues coming in 2023. These tunes were originally put out back on the legendary Klang Elektronik in 2000. First up is 'Tea Party' by Eon, M-Core, and Baby Ford, an ice-cold rolling dub. Labelfounder Insect O. is back with a 3 track vinyl release of his handcrafted dub techno sound. But there is always more to discover. Sandstones starts with field recordings he took at the sandstone mountains of Saxony Switzerland National Park while hiking during the pandemic. Back in the studio he layered it on top of spicy chords, beautiful pads and a shuffling groove. But it is this melancholic organ that gives big emotions to the track. The second track is named after a famous little bass synthesizer. Volca Dub was recorded 10 years ago. It was sitting on the hard disc, waiting for the perfect moment to get finished and released. The chords of the Korg Volca Bass are heavily modulated and tranched into swirling tape delays with a rumbling sub bass underneath. Just like dub should sound. The final track Everlasting he recorded live in one take on his modular synthesizer. It starts with the rolling bassline by a Buchla inspired dual oscillator. A dreamy melody and melancholic chords are fading in. Filter pings are providing clicky drums while white noise from the Moog Dfam is playing a polyrhythmic snare. Pitch shifting echoes and a dreamy reverb are gluing the sounds together. It makes you remember the past and think about the future. Just like memories do. And some memories last forever.

Released in the same year he left UR and his hometown of Detroit, Waveform Transmission Vol. 2 represents a
pivotal moment in Hood’s career as his move to New York with fellow UR co-founder Je Mills led to Hood
experimenting with a new work ethos through which he settled on his trademark sound.
Fast, aurally assaulting, yet funky - the release is techno as eective as it can possibly be; in this version,
remastered by Thomas P. Heckmann, we see the first results of his transmutation as Hood manipulates the raw
sounds he would soon distil into seminal works like Internal Empire and Minimal Nation.
Ever philosophical and spiritual, in the sleeve notes for the release Hood dedicated the release “to the form of
simplicity[,] the reasoning of vision[,] the understanding of where we came from and how we got here and to the

A tastemaker who surged from his roots amongst Glasgow’s rich electronic scene to become a globally respected DJ and producer in his own right, Scottish favourite Jasper James’ career has been built not only on his early musical heritage but also his ability to create and curate his unique style as a standout talent within the DJ booth.

From the youngest ever DJ to play at Sub Club through to b2b appearances alongside the likes of Ryan Elliott and his longstanding residence at Phonox, his blend of off-kilter house soon led to explorations within the studio, releasing material via ESP Institute, Optimo Trax and his own Mitchell Street Records.

Welcoming another label to the mix for 2023, he joins the No Art family, following founders Anotr and label regular Toman on the vinyl focused sub-label No Art Red with his slick three-track EP, ‘Keepon’.

Title track ‘Keepon’ is a percussive-driven and impactful lead effort as crisp drums take hold, guided by subtle vocal loops and background melodies ebb and flow amongst the mix to ensure listeners are kept wanting and guessing at every twist and turn. Next, A2 ‘Rise’ builds on the opener as slinking grooves meet playful samples, icy hats, and spiralling synths to keep things moving nicely.

The B-side of the record belongs to the third and final cut ‘What You Say’, with James opting to strip things back and welcome rolling drums and shuffling organic beats for a huge summer terrace anthem in the making to close out his label debut in style.

We’re still harvesting the fruits of those past days in seclusion, the cabin fever induced creative outbursts, ideas that would probably have never surfaced without these enforced trips to our inner minds. Lockdown transcendence.

“Don’t Cry” by Italo-Brazilian DJ producer Stephan Barnem and Futuristant is another impressive testament of those days. Secluded in Stephan’s studio in Northern Italy, the duo subconsciously conjured the spirits of one of their mutual favorite bands, Depeche Mode and created a fierce, boombappy Neo New Wave smasher contrived to send rays of hope into the darkest corners of this mad world. We had to add a gratuitous beatless version to the EP that amplifies the cinematic depth and healing potency of this song.

If “Don’t Cry” echoes the dark brooding euphoria of Depeche Mode’s “Music For The Masses” era, the flipside cut “Elysium” harks back to the synthwave happy days of their debut “Speak & Spell”. It’s a wonderfully careless track that’s bringing a dearly needed breeze of fresh air to today’s discerning dancefloors.

Boys don’t cry for me Argentina. Save your tears for another day.

»Techno is a genre of electronic dance music (edm) which is generally produced for use in a continuous DJ set, with tempo often varying between 120 and 150 beats per minute (bpm). The central rhythm is typically in common time (4/4) and often characterized by a repetitive four on the floor beat.«

Well, that's what Wikipedia says about »techno« - but can Laura BCR's music simply be called »techno«? We say it's much more than that. The French DJ and On Board Music label founder who took her name from the much-loved and now closed, Berlin record store, Bass Cadet Records, started to produce her very own music in 2020. Music which could easily fit in her transportive, deep techno and dubby ambient DJ sets. Sets that have brought her to some of Europe’s finest venues.

After her releases on SoHaSo, Semantica, Paloma, RDV Music, Technologia Organica or Sublunar we're happy to present to you her latest work for Live At Robert Johnson: »Human Behavior«.

The four tracks all share a deepness which is typical for a lot of her productions so far. This is repetitive music, yes - but also very atmospheric music. Whether it's the helicopter sound in first track »Farewell« which Laura put on top of layers of whirring synths sounds or the swelling and decaying sounds of »Long Wait«. Sounds which swallow you deep into their core and make you forget about the here and now. Yes, Laura's music is hypnotizing - and it has a certain psychedelic quality attached to it as well. This aspect of her music can be heard quite good in »Post Dynamic« with its electronic blowing wind sounds galore. Or in »Human Behavior«, the title track of Laura BCR's Larj debut. Yet Laura never forgets the importance (and the power) of the bass drum and its four on the floor beat.

A beat that is the heartbeat of techno. And a beat that defines Laura BCR as well.

Now all hail the bass drum and all hail Laura BCR!
