As undisputed as the wonderfully creative power of destruction is in the case of, for example, Keith Moon's explosive device layings, Niki de Saint Phalle's shooting pictures or pogo in the streetcar, as rashly it is unfortunately also quickly babbled that every destruction is always also a beginning. DIE Offenbacher Küchenzerstörung at least is one, namely the opening track of the new LUNSENTRIO album 69 Arten DEN Pubrock Zu Spielen and thus also the starting signal at the new label (tapete).

The Lunsentrio are: On piano and synthesizers Nick McCarthy (until recently guitarist and keyboardist with rock bands Franz Ferdinand and Ffs) and on drums Sebastian "Seb-I" Kellig (dub producer in London at East London's Sausage Studio, which he runs with Nick), and thirdly Berlin-based artist and lyricist Hank Schmidt in der Beek, from whose pen the lyrics come. Fourthly, Martin Tagar (Friends of Gas, Das Weiße Pferd) plays the Lunsen guitar and finally on bass Albert Pöschl (Suzie Trio, Das Weiße Pferd, Murena Murena, Grexits, The Sound of Money, King of Japan, Jason Arigato, and many others), in whose Munich echo chamber everything from the current album was recorded that was not recorded in Nick's Sausage Studio dependency in the Bavarian countryside.

Somnolent rises from the abyss with its new album The Infernal Expanse, an immense aural beast of infernal and diabolical black/death industrial dark ambient chaos fuming from the monstrous jaws of total hell and oblivion. The band comprises of founding solo multi-instrumentalist Jessi Nihl (noctis, ex-LYCUS, ex-NECRITE, among others) on guitars, synths and electronics, joined on this release by vocalist MA (abstracter, Atrament, ASH Prison), and the work sees the duo revel into unseen deconstructions of reality, fusing dark ambient, ritual industrial, noise and cancerous black/death metal debris to unearth the quintessence of infernal sonic abandon. The Infernal Expanse both complements and diverges from Somnolent's lengthy mostly digital-only and purely electronic dark ambient and harsh noise discography, and sees the project expand its instrumental arsenal and apocalyptic yield to catastrophic effects. Adding percussions, strings, violins, and a churning cauldron of crushing metal guitar abstractions to the preexisting electronic dark ambient substrate, with The Infernal Expanse Somnolent deliberately embrace certain malevolent and diseased strains of extreme metal, morphing into an otherworldly sonic cataclysm of hellish atmospherics, suffocating hallucinatory soundscaping, and flesh-scaring ritual black industrial madness.

Spirit Songs comes as a highly organic form of Ambient-Folk-Blues with Cooper reordering material to create an immersive listening experience. A stream of cut-up lyrics inspired by Thomas Pynchon's writing slide across multiple electronic layers and masterfully fingerpicked acoustic guitars combining into a moving tide. This is deeply inspired music from a unique artist: Mike Cooper the so called "icon of post-everything music” a true sound explorer constantly pushing the boundaries of genres and styles, Folk, Blues, Free Improv, Exotica, Ambient, Electronica... "Spirit Songs.. a glorious marriage of all three of Cooper's previous musical strategies; creating a stunning hybrid. The album contains 10 songs performed on finger-picked acoustic and electric lap steel guitar, often looped and treated in real time, with Cooper singing lyrics in a quietly meandering, semi-improvisatory manner that recalls a more polished Jandek. The style of songwriting is immediately recognizable as blues, but an intuitive, idiosyncratic form of folk-blues, with Cooper narrating laments over matters personal and global, gentle universalisms that double as political messages. Fine Place is a new duo comprising Frankie Rose (Vivian Girls, Crystal Stilts, Dum Dum Girls) and Matthew Hord (Running, Pop. 1280, Brandy). Based in Brooklyn, NYC together they’ve crafted a crystalline full length of nocturnal, electronic pop music that charts a way out the post-global, cyberpunk dystopian environment it was crafted in. Their debut album This New Heaven drenches minimalist song structures in post-industrial washes of six-string delay and gothic post-punk synths. Presiding over it is the most evocative, emotive vocal performance Frankie Rose has committed to tape to date.

Following Hord’s relocation from Chicago, the pair wanted to explore new avenues apart from their respective bands or solo projects. “The sound we were going for was an attempt to capture the dystopian feel of New York during a period of desertion by the wealthy. It was produced in a time-frame saturated in both uncertainty and serenity, and the soundscapes we created felt fitting and almost organic as a response to our surroundings. The title also reflects this in an arguably literal, maybe even satirical way.” Sonically, Fine Place references the pioneering mid-to-late 80s pioneers of icy melodrama The Cure and Cocteau Twins, while reflecting both the individuals’; music trajectories thus far. Modular synthesis triggers rhythm boxes and fluttery arps chirp around clanging 808-patterning as Rose’s reverb-laden vocal layering envelops the remaining headroom. The result is massive; a towering, shadowy music that embraces darkness while offering Rose’s bright vocal as chinks of light in the cracks; the production filling the head space of the beholder with preternatural imagery and emotional resonances that are real but not quite defined.

The title song propels forth out of the fog, scintillating with delayed guitar before the reverb-immersed vocal injects the human drama. The chorus constantly teases a big release but holds back creating a taut, dynamic tension. Cover Blind’s slow march makes full use of Rose’s layered vocal sinking and emerging from Hord’s bank of

synths. Stand out It’s Your House is pure honey pouring from the speaker on a bank of of arps and near-hymnal vocal layering, a syrupy light offering in the mist. It’s an emotive highlight that only increases as the album progresses; Impressions Of Me is the Lynchian ballad that glides onward into the sunset. The album finishes on a choice re-interpretation of the 1989 track The Party Is Over by Belgian group Adult Fantasies, one of the great over-looked ballads of the era given an almost ecclesiastical makeover by Matthew Hord and Frankie Rose in 2021.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre is a psychedelic rock band originally from San Francisco, California, led by guitarist/singer Anton Newcombe. Originally Newcombe was heavily influenced by The Rolling Stones' psychedelic phase - the name comes from Stones guitarist Brian Jones combined with a reference to cult leader Jim Jones, but his work in the 2000s has expanded into aesthetic dimensions approximating the UK Shoegazing genre of the 1990s and incorporating influences from world music, especially Middle Eastern and Brazilian music.

He dedicates one song to Darius and in the other, humorously lambasts the college town he called home for all those years. Today Jagjaguwar dies; tomorrow Jagjaguwar is reborn.

Als The Residents im Jahr 1978 die 33 RPM EP Duck Stab! Im 7" Format veröffentlichten, war das für die Gruppe eine nette Abwechslung von den sich über Jahre (1975 -1979) hinziehenden, anspruchsvollen und experimentellen Aufnahmen an ihrem epochalen Eskimo Album. Außerdem brauchte das Label Ralph Records, eine Einnahmequelle um die lange Phase ohne ein "echtes neues" Album zu überbrücken. Zur allgemeinen Überraschung wurde die EP ein Hit und verkaufte mehr als 50.000 Einheiten in wenigen Monaten. Die Nachfrage liess auch in der Folge nicht nach und so drängte Ralph Records The Residents eine zweite EP - Buster & Glen - aufzunehmen, die dann schlussendlich zusammen mit Duck Stab! als LP-Release zu einem Klassiker und großem Verkaufserfolg wurde. Einige Jahre später, zwischen 1981 und 1988 übernahm Night Flight, eine damals populäre Sendung im US-Kabelfernsehen, Video-Clips von The Residents in ihr reguläres Programm auf - insbesondere "Hello Skinny", das legendäre Video zum Duck Stab! / Buster & Glen Album. Für viele Fans der Band war Night Flight der erste Berührungspunkt mit The Residents. Im Jahr 2016 feierte der Sender unter dem Namen Night Flight plus fröhliche Wiederauferstehung als Internet Streaming-Service und bat The Residents anlässlich des 40ten Jubiläums des Programms um einen Video-Beitrag. Scottish synth pop sensations Chvrches have a history of commissioning remixes for each of their chart topping albums. Given the cinematic concept of their latest Screen Violence they wanted to get a composer involved who worked in that universe. Singer and percussionist Lauren Mayberry said that the master of horror John Carpenter was the top of their wish list elaborating that "His films and music have been so impactful on us over the years, and without the stories he created I am not sure that the concept of Screen Violence (and female narratives within the album) would exist in the way they do." They decided to reach for the stars and contact Carpenter's team and to their delight Carpenter was excited by the idea. Lauren continues "As horror fans, we know that John Carpenter is the godfather and the gold standard and we're so excited to get to work with him in any capacity... we never really thought he'd reply, let alone that he'd send back something better than the original." Carpenter's remix of the Chvrches song "Good Girls," created alongside his creative partners Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, enhances the depths of the song's already infectious synthesizer melodies and adds his signature slightly sinister swagger and groove.

Warhead started in 1983 in Brussels (Belgium) as a four piece. The young and aspiring metal boys were taken under the wings of producer Jos Kloek who became their mentor for the early days. We are happy to announce our second vinyl release: Τhe debut album by Sister entitled untrue which will be available on 1 September 2018. Sister is an electric minimal rock trio. Its members have been involved in various groups throughout the years in Athens, the rest of Greece and abroad. Sister manifested itself for the first time in 2016. The tracks of their debut album untrue came together as a way to acquaint with each other musically. The record was produced in the first months of 2017 at Suono, a studio in downtown Athens operated by producer and musician Coti K. (The Man From Managra), being the very first record produced there under the man’s supervision. Hitting the blind spots between harmony and dissonance, untrue evades explicit feelings to evoke ideas of speed and heat, light and shade, a sense of inner space and biochemical rush. untrue is music for those who sit in the corner going quietly out of their minds. It is released in glorious black vinyl (140 gram, 12”) by Underflow Records (Underflow Record Store & Art Gallery) in 500 copies. Ringing with ghostly blues, midnight rave-ups and down-tempo pop, Feast of Smoke joins Amber’s poetic songwriting with Paul’s experience as a veteran producer (e.g. Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Anomoanon) in this hauntingly pleasing collection of original songs.

Behind the kudzu-covered branches of a gothic exterior, Feast of Smoke offers mesmeric, sometimes darkly comic glimpses into the absurd splendor of life together. From the whispered vocals of opener “Goodbye,” a playful plea for togetherness, to the incantatory sighs of songs like “Moan” and “Haunted,” Paul and Amber’s voices blend and contrast in equal measure. It is a fitting sound for a married couple with a dynamic, propulsive approach to songwriting. Through this “fire and water type of union,” as Paul describes it, the pair produce songs that feel studied yet spontaneous. Sometimes the results are eerie and enigmatic, like the late-night house band at backwoods roadhouse. The momentous “Like Father, Like Son” rumbles with subterranean percussion as Paul sings, “There is a place in my heart that I just can’t take you.” Palm-muted chords shadow the pair’s vocals on “Drift.” Amber’s emotive voice and a delta riff make up the spare sounds of “Lonely.” At other times, they turn a dusty spotlight on ordinary moments. “Pleasure” and closer “Dummy Check” have the feel of old school duets. They reveal a songwriting team defined by impulse and freedom as well as a brooding sense of mystery.

Feast of Smoke was produced by Paul and Amber and features a range of old friends and collaborators, including Neil Hagerty of Royal Trux on guitar, Larry and Patty Schemel, Jeremy Gagon and Brian Girgus of Lower Case on drums, and some lyrics from George Wethington of Speed to Roam and Amish Heaters. From the earliest, unknowing days of the pandemic sprang Corrina Repp's seventh solo album Island. Island marks Corrina's first time writing and recording an entire album by herself, in her own home, without an engineer or the spoils of a studio at hand. Hyper-focused due to these limits, she drew on her natural strengths of voice and guitar, resulting in songs even more markedly intimate than her previous work. The music of Island spans everything from haunting folk to exploratory guitar to cinematic pop, with Corrina's voice and instrument taking turns sharing center stage. In Corrina's sparse yet emotive way, Island calmly presents a score for our everyday lives that is as elegant as it is frank in both form and substance. Critically acclaimed guitarist and singer/songwriter Corrina Repp is now based in LA, but she came up in Portland, Oregon in the late '90s, carving out a space as she developed her sound. In some ways, Versus were the quintessential indie rock band.” —Pitchfork Versus are pioneers of the early ’90s indie rock revolution. Formed in 1990 in New York City by Detroit-bred brothers Richard and Ed Baluyut and Texan Fontaine Toups, Versus named themselves after Mission Of Burma’s debut album. After recording a few singles on various labels, Let’s Electrify! was self-released by the band on CD and was out-of-print shortly thereafter. It was the first and last release on their Remora imprint. This is the first time it will be available on vinyl and the first time in 28 years that it will be available on any format.The six-song Let’s Electrify is their debut and was released September of 1993 just eight months before their stellar debut album, The Stars Are Insane. This is just as good and while it has six songs, it clocks in at a healthy 25 minutes. It was recorded by Adam Lasus (Yo La Tengo, Helium, Lilys). Remastered in 2021 by Scott Anthony of Storybook Sound. This marks a return to the Teen-Beat label for the band after stints with Merge and Caroline. The original line up is still together together and still based in New York. They released a new album in 2019 on the Ernest Jennings label. They will be playing live shows in the future when conditions allow.

Right from the off, the brilliant opener “Drive” leaves nothing to be desired in terms of thrilling, hymnic danceability. A grandiosely updated “Swimming” sustains the urgent sense of drive unconventionally, before “Anyone”, one of the most gripping and sweeping mid-tempo ballads of recent years, changes down a gear. And that was just the beginning. Every time you think you’ve grasped the band musically, they immediately prove you wrong with the next track, e.g. with “Dead To Us”, the calmest and most introspective track according to its loss subject, which stands out for a beautiful ending that develops without haste.
