Blending earthy bends and cool, organic harmonics into the bed of foundation-crumbling low-end swagger and massive amplification, Dissent brings The Cutthroats 9 back into the mix in massive style with seven slamming new tracks. Last fall, while touring on the Fat Wreck Chords debut full-length album Neon Fiction, Sundowner made a pit stop at Little Elephant Studio in Toledo, OH. Run by two engineers, Rob Courtney and Brian Gross-bias, Little Elephant has built a reputation recording high quality video of bands performing live and making those performances available to the public. Once the Sundowner session was complete, Chris Mccaughan was so happy with the outcome that he decided to release the audio recordings on a 7" via Fat Wreck Chords in conjunction with Little Elephant rolling out the video footage. The 7", titled Little Elephant Sessions, contains four tracks total; one from each of the three Sundowner full-lengths and one Lawrence Arms classic. All four songs are done in the stripped-down intimate style that has endeared so many fans to Sundowner, just Chris, his guitar, and artistically-crafted, unforgettable songs.

Ausmuteants are four twenty-nothings from Geelong, Victoria, raised on a diet of seminal avant punk like Chrome and the Screamers. Let?s not mention Devo—as a two-piece, Jake Robertson (synth, guitar) and Billy Gardener (drums) flushed that obsession with the release of their Split Personalities album in 2012. They’ve since added Marc Dean and Shaun Connor on bass and guitar, respectively, and worked ’60s songwriting ideas, disco rhythms and a subtler brand of theft into finely crafted pop songs, recording 22 in early 2013. Aarght! Records picked the best twelve for Amusements, reissued on vinyl domestically by Goner.

Ausmuteants are liked by Vice and Dangerfield despite (or because of) their synthesizers, their swearing and their youthful good looks. For what it’s worth, Ausmuteants do not like Vice or Dangerfield.

and was the first Bikini Kill release to feature the band’s song, “Rebel Girl.” Originally a split EP with the Brighton, UK-based band,
Huggy Bear, the b-side now features seven previously unreleased Bikini Kill songs drawn from era-appropriate live shows and practice
tapes. The artwork has also been updated to include archival photos and liner notes from the Bratmobile’s Erin Smith, Comet Gain’s
David Feck, and the members of Bikini Kill.

In the native tongue of the South American tribe Mapuche, there exists the word ‘MENOKO’. Deep within the Andean Forests there are sacred places, springs of purity known as Menokos. Hidden and untouched by man or animal, they are whispered, home of virgin water. Womb of the natural cycle from which plants and herbs of extraordinary medicinal abilities are nurtured.

Barrio Lindo feels a strong bond to the native tribes of his Argentinian home. Ancestral cultures are of great importance, providing a wealth of inspiration. An instrument maker by trade, using his bare hands he constructs many ethnical instruments like Andean flutes, African harps, string instruments from India and so on. This fascination with indigenous sounds is reflected within his music and themes with the use of samples and tribal instrumentation. While understanding his work is far from that of the native cultures, he finds ways to incorporate these influences through fusions of sounds. Drawing a parallel, worlds both old and new align.

The story of Big Scary begins in Melbourne, Australia, where duo Tom Iansek and Jo Syme, armed with just acoustic guitars and egg shakers, started playing songs together in the living room of Syme’s parents’ house, gradually working up to a bolder, more expansive sound by incorporating electric guitars, drums, synths and piano. What began as a few rainy day acoustic ballads in their first incarnation soon grew, and before long, the newly named Big Scary were writing anything they pleased – fuzzed-out garage rock; piano-led pop; intricate, pastoral instrumentals – each imbued with an effortless pop sensibility and lightness of touch that would quickly see the duo attract a strong following in their home country. Following a series of early self-released singles and EPs, Big Scary released the intimately crafted debut album Vacation in 2011 via the band’s own label Pieater.
