Formed in London’s Islington borough in 1970, Grit would perform their heavy psychedelic rock locally for three years, disbanding and disappearing before they could sign a contract with a record label. Their sole recorded output was a three-track demo, recorded in 1972, of which only two copies were ever pressed. One of those copies made its way to Germany, where it was discovered in a flea market by record collector and psychedelic rock expert Hans Pokora. After being featured in Pokora’s “7001 Record Collector Dreams” and being awarded the maximum grade of rarity, the record quickly became an object of desire for crate diggers around the world. It didn’t take long for somebody to track down original guitarist Frank “Spider” Martinez, and with the original master tapes he still had in his possession, reissues were off to the races!

And for good reason - not only is this record incredibly rare, but the heavy psychedelic rock is unparalleled, with comparisons to Cream, Jimmy Hendrix, and John Mayall hardly doing it the justice it deserves. Fuzzed out riffs, Robert Plant-esque shout singing, and some of the most aggressive drumming this side of the Thames, makes for a psychedelic rock sound that’s unmistakably British but undeniably awesome. (Cold Wave/PostPunk) SUIR is a duo based in Cologne, which started in the beginning of 2017 when Denis Wanic (guitar and vocals) and Lucia Seiß (synths, guitar and bass) joined forces for their band project. In a constant play of guitars and synthesizers, supported by minimalist and electronic drum rhythms and melancholic lyrics, SUIR produces reverberated shoegaze and cinematic, atmospheric music defined by dense and complex sound walls.This rich, velvety sound constantly shifts between post punk, dark shoegaze, heavy dark wave, and psych, but due to their own sound creations, none of these genres can be unambiguously attributed. The music combines heavily influences by contemporary bands like Bleib Modern, The Underground Youth, The KVB, The Brian Jonestown Massacre or shoegaze pioneers like My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus and Mary Chain.Their live performance is expanded by a visual program which is strongly influenced by the origin of the two from the fields of art history and philosophy and builds a filigree and gloomy overall concept. SUIR has toured from eastern to western Europe, performing as main or support acts for artists like Motorama, Lebanon Hanover, Esben and the Witch, The Underground Youth and The KVB, and appeared at major festivals that include Wave-Gotik-Treffen (WGT), NCN-Festival and Owls 'n' Bats Festival. The duo released two full albums, "Ater" and "Soma" with Black Verb Records and Manic Depression Records (Vinyl, CD, Tape). 2021 they created "Studio Session", a live session recording in SUIR's discography, which was released April 1st by Wave Tension Records (Vinyl, CD, Tape). JARV IS... have written & performed the original soundtrack for the critically acclaimed BBC TV series "This is Going to Hurt" based on Adam Kay"s award-winning international multi-million selling memoir of the same name. The soundtrack was recorded at Narcissus Studios, London by Drew Dungate-Smith during various sessions throughout 2021. Most of the performances are live takes featuring the entire band - often recorded whilst they watched the playback of key sequences from the series. Each episode features at least one song with lyrics by Cocker, who had access to the scripts (adapted by Adam Kay from his own book) from an early stage in the production process. JARV IS... is a band comprising Jarvis Cocker, Serafina Steer, Emma Smith, Andrew McKinney, Adam Betts & Jason Buckle. The soundtrack consists of a mixture of songs & instrumental pieces, with Cocker & Steer being the main composers. Cocker is quoted as saying "It"s our love song to the NHS".

Check out the first 18 or so seconds of "Can I Ride," the title trackon the first release by Polvo, the two-guitar juggernaut thatrepresented the other side of Chapel Hill indie rock (more on that ina moment). That two-note riff, and the guitar twang that follows,recalls the opening notes on another monster song: "The Sprawl," akey track on Sonic Youth's epochal Daydream Nation, an albumreleased in October 1988, less than two years before Polvo formed.This compilation's nine tunes_the first seven from the Can I Ridedouble 7-inch EP (1990), the last two from the "Vibracobra" b/w"The Drill" 7-inch (1991)_are not quite the sound of a torch beingpassed, but they were a sign that Sonic Youth's weird tunings, thehardcore punk and proto-indie rock on SST Records, and R.E.M.'shazy rock (three big influences on this era of Polvo) were changinglives.Even back then, the impossibly catchy roar from Merge's flagshipact Superchunk was known to outsiders as the sound of Chapel Hill.But Polvo was something different from the same region. This is a 2021 mix of the original track and the never before released 1988 demo version, with both tracks being over 24 minutes each. When Darren Hayman made his debut in 1997 with the acclaimed indie band Hefner his lyrical remit was the broken hearted. His early songs told the story of the lonesome and lost, and broken dreams of love on the back streets of London. After Hefner, Hayman's palette grew to include a unique take on place and memory. In the early 2000s he wrote a trilogy of albums around the history of Essex. In 2012 he made an instrumental album describing the tranquillity of Lidos. When These Memories Fade, is a new seven-inch singles box set celebrating the short, but amazing, career of early 90s American rock band Jellyfish.

Jellyfish formed in the late ‘80s out of the ashes of Beatnik Beatch, a power-pop band that included Bay Area high school pals Andy Sturmer and Roger Joseph Manning, Jr. That band released one album on Atlantic then split up, leaving Sturmer and Manning to their own devices. This resulted in Jellyfish, a band who were influenced by classic 1970s rock-pop, whether that be Wings, ELO, Queen, Badfinger or Elton John. Critically acclaimed, they struggled commercially in America in particular, where hair metal and grunge were the order of the day, although enjoyed reasonable success in the UK, even if only one single penetrated the UK top 40 (their debut ‘The King Is Half-Undressed’).

This new box set features all six UK singles, pulled from the two albums – 1990’s Bellybutton and 1993’s Spilt Milk – (including the 4-track ‘Scary-Go-Round’ EP) which are pressed on multi-coloured seven-inch vinyl. Additionally, a unique bonus seven-inch featuring two covers, one of which is ‘Think About Your Troubles’, a tribute to Harry Nilsson, recorded by Roger Manning Jr and Andy Sturmer in February 1994, a few weeks after Nilsson’s death (“it was the last thing Jellyfish did as a group”, Roger recalls).

The audio has all been remastered especially for vinyl and as well as the singles in picture sleeves, this box set includes a 64-page booklet with very detailed and entertaining track-by-track guides (not the same as those in the 2015 Omnivore CDs) from Roger Manning Jr, Jason Falkner, Chris Manning, Tim Smith, Eric Dover and band members and a newly written essay by Maura K. Johnston. The booklet is packed with previously unseen photographs, rare memorabilia and promotional items.

Inspired by a great passion for Astor Piazzolla’s tango, Soul Of The Tango is a critically acclaimed and essential work of the “Nuevo Tango”, played by Yo-Yo Ma’s world famous cello and many of Piazzolla’s former friends and colleagues. Piazzolla’s old guitarists Sergio and Odair Assad even showed up to work on a pair of tracks arranged by Sergio: the “Tango Suite” (consisting of “Andante” and “Allegro”). The album begins with “Libertango”, a composition from Piazzolla’s first album that became the theme song for the movie The Tango Lesson. Following is the pair of tracks in the “Tango Suite” from Sergio Assad. Then comes “Sur: Regreso al Amor”, a softer work, though with some definite virtuosity displayed. “Le Grand Tango” is an eleven minute tour de force in the tango. “Tango Remembrances” is a particularly nice work, due to the appearance of Piazzolla’s own playing. “Milonga del Angel” is a seemingly sentimental work that shows off Piazzolla’s ability to express the emotions of a song perfectly and purely. To finish the album, Ma presents “Café 1930”, a rather slow paced work, but again, as in the previous song, expresses emotion very fully in its nostalgia.
