Transcontinental, Experimental Duo Smoke Bellow Have Been At It Since 2012, Relocating From Australia To Baltimore, Md & Back Again And Then Back Again (Now Firmly Settled In Baltimore). The Duo Released The "Blooming/Middling" Lp In 2014, Followed By "Isolation 3000" In 2018 (Both On Baltimore Label Ehse Records) After A Line-Up Shuffle, They Eventually Recruited One Of Their Favorite Drummers And Dear Friend, Emmanuel Nicolaidis (Thank You, Oh Hang). Which Found The Duo Refining Of Their Sound Into A Dizzyingly Attractive Mixture Of Kosmiche Serenity, Minimalist Composition, Test-Card Psychedelia, And Highlife Guitar. "While they have released a decent number of cassettes & CDs, Jurad is only the fourth vinyl album released by this long-running DC-to-Philly-based space-juggernaut. Recorded by a quartet iteration of the always mutating ensemble, the music on this one veers between the kind of psych-prog wallow for which Kohoutek is most often celebrated, and the less formally rockoid improvisational proclivities they sometimes display. The session for Jurad went down at Philadelphia's Sex Dungeon studio in 2012 and resulted in three long tracks. The shortest one, 'Cosmic Grease,' opens the B side in classic Kohoutek style. John Stanton's guitar balances on the cusp of scum and space, spewing fat raw gobs of string-urk across a thick steady surge of circular bass/drum/synth hunch. A pretty nice way to fire it up. 'Double Star' follows with electro-squigglage sluiced amidst much more delicate guitar filigree, a lighter rhythm section pulse and drones of presumed synthetic origin. It has a bit of Germanic feel, along the lines of UA-era Popol Vuh or something. Like taking a deep breath of night air during an electrical storm. The first side is comprised of 'Tidal Disruption,' a rather different kettle of sonic chub. From the first notes of synth buck and string buzz, this one slides sideways with reckless abandon, before diving into a pool of tranquil long tone improvisation, with what sounds like small tractors demolishing a farm house in the distance. As the piece progresses, this far-off destruction resolves itself into a slow drum pulse, fluid bass lines and a wash of synth abstraction. The pace slowly increases and then slows again as 'Tidal Disruption' slowly fades into dream time, wrapping up like a beautiful trip, well taken. Portuguese experimental trio 10 000 Russos are gearing up for the release of their fifth album 'Superinertia', which is due out September 10th on Fuzz Club Records. Following on from 2019's 'Kompromat' LP and tour dates around the UK, Europe and Mexico in support, the Porto-based band describe 'Superinertia' as a record addressing the "state of inertia that humans live in the West nowadays. It isn't a record about the past or future. It's about now." For all that 'Superinertia' might take aim at a world without motion, however, the same cannot be said of 10 000 Russos themselves. On the one hand, since their 2013 debut LP and the three that have followed on Fuzz Club since (2015's self-titled, 2017's 'Distress Distress' and 'Kompromat'), 10 000 Russos' music has always been about as kinetic as it gets: a truly unrelenting and motorik sonic force. On the other hand, 'Superinertia' also sees the band itself move into whole new musical territories - aided especially by the recent addition of synth player Nils Meisel to the line-up (who replaces former bassist André Couto.) "The synths really opened up the sound of the band and gave more routes for the music to journey down. The most important thing on this album was to not repeat ourselves. A new arc in our sound is coming to life", drummer and vocalist Joao Pimenta explains. On said arc, the Russos sound is expanded to include moments that invoke Ry Cooder's 'Paris, Texas' soundtrack ('Mexicali/Calexico'), dancey outbursts that transport you to the 90s Summer of Love ('Super Inertia'), the closest thing Russos have ever done to a pop song ('A House Full of Garbage') and even a touch of banjo (albeit one that sounds like a country band on amphetamines playing over a feedback-blasted Stooges beat.) After way too long Belle Phoenix finally steps out of the shadows and exposes, "The Glorious Dead". This is her long anticipated album that's taken snapshots of her journey from Australia via New York and UK to a Finland resident exploring her next challenge. Belle's forte is collecting musicians and spring boarding her honest songwriting with a chosen few band members that weave their influences into time using themes inspired by an investigation into the stories of war, politics, dead-end jobs, failed relationships, and clairvoyant dreams. The Glorious Dead began in New York. Belle was residing in Sydney, she jumped at the chance to work with Mark Plati (Lou Reed/Bowie) leaving behind Australia's, 40 degree days, plunging into a N.Y. winter and recording at Alice's Restaurant where she and Mark worked to capture Belle's vision. From these sessions emerged Livin' Life Blues, Dead Inside! (Lost the dance), Maker Of The Man (inspired by camping in the Nevada Desert) and The Glorious Dead. A return home to Sydney, teaming with Trent Marden (The Holy Soul) brought a dark-country vibe, to Soul Killers. Dancing All The Time, & New York City was Belle's first attempt at producing the tracks at Australia's iconic Albert Music Studio, home of Ac/dc. Always looking for fresh influences and sounds she headed to the UK where she played shows on a regular basis at almost every venue they had. She held down two part time jobs at a laundrette and a burger place but found herself homeless after returning from the Nxne festival in Toronto, where she played shows at Cherry Cola's and The Great Hall. With few options Melbourne Australia, became Belle's next base after meeting Melbourne guitarist, Osker Bickford in London who had played for Tomorrow People and Brian Henry Hooper (Beasts of Bourbon). They recruited Tim O'Shannassy on Drums (Brian Hooper, Paradise Motel, Penny Ikinger) and Andrew McCubbin on Bass for live shows and with the end in sight the band was christened, [1]elle Phoenix and The Subterranean Sea' described by Belle as spawned out of the alchemical, subconscious creative processes which reflect a cathartic, spontaneous capture of inspiration.

Crypt Monarch was formed mid 2020, featuring members of Age of the Wolf and VoidOath. Their debut album, The Necronaut, was recorded and produced by the band in a cabin in the woods during March/April 2021. The album has a concept around the voyage of a dishonored King brought back from the dead to destroy it’s warlock’s enemies.
