There’s a palpable sense of energy and enthusiasm from the audience captured on the tapes at this concert as
King Crimson (sharing a European tour with then label band mates Roxy Music)
take to the stage in Fréjus, France, in late Summer, 1982.
With two albums’ worth of material to draw upon (Discipline, Oct 1981& Beat, June 1982) & extensive touring that had already seen the band play concerts
in the UK, Europe, USA & Japan, the live shows - as often with King Crimson –
had a dynamism & punch that simply couldn’t be replicated
in a recording studio. Add a pair of classic KC instrumentals, (Red & Larks’ Tongues in Aspic Part Two),
to that mix & all the ingredients were there for a very special performance.
Recorded initially for a video release, the audio from the concert has, inexplicably, never been issued as a standalone release
Nor has a live album from the 1980s line-up previously appeared on vinyl.
Sheltering Skies presents the complete King Crimson performance across
2LPs pressed on 200gram vinyl or a single CD, both completed with the addition of the recording of ‘The Sheltering Sky’
from the previous night’s concert at Cap d’Agde
The 1980s King Crimson was, in terms of concert performances/ album releases,
still less than a year old when this album was recorded.
The collective decades’ of experience of the individual musicians is funnelled through the enthusiasm & freshness of the
line-up & the newness of the material to produce a special concert recording.
While King Crimson material from this period is always in demand, with the forthcoming US tour by Beat (King Crimson’s
Adrian Belew & Tony Levin, joined by guitarist Steve Vai & Tool drummer Danny Carey), performing the materia
l from that period, there is increased interest in hearing this material as it was originally performed.

This, one of the greatest radio shows ever made onto a record as it combines a Radio interview with Roky Erickson in full gloom while he is presenting the demos of tracks that may ended up on the great great The Evil One LP Earlier versions of mine mine mind, two headed dog, and click your fingers applauding the play previously released on vinyl by France's Sponge Records in 1976.. The bonuses (interviews, demos, rarities) are dandy, but the album is treasure enough. Its retro-metal chops have more kaboom than the irony-diluted pap of current poseurs, and its bent lyrics mop the floor with wannabe-kooks like Jad Fair. Some savvy touches- such as Roky's progressive pre-PC designation that the swamp monsters are 'alligator-persons'- hint that Roky was more lucid than he let on.

Lukas de Clerck has interpreted information from the rare archaeological resources and visual art of the classical Greek period to recreate both playing technique and possible sound timbres with the instrument. With his contemporary approach to drone, post-minimalist music, and contemporary folk, we find a deeply satisfying and compelling, even playful set of songs, timbral exercises and compositions.An important document of new music meets contemporary archaemusicological research via Stephen O'Malley of SUNN O)))'s label Ideologic Organ._The telescopic aulos is speculative: might it have existed? It takes on features from the historical aulos, a double-reed instrument of which we know how it looked but little about what music was played on it or how it would have really sounded. It's an instrument without the limitations of canon or manual, providing creative freedom and awakening curiosity.The new instrument featured on this album is ancient and futuristic at once. The aulos has no tone holes; instead, each of the two tubes consists of three parts that can slide into each other. In this sense, the metal pipes bear a certain resemblance to the principle of a trombone. However, since both hands are already in use to hold both tubes, the sliding has to be done by way of gravity and the help of a «phorbeia», a leather mask which helps keep the reeds in place. The aulos's material is metal (instead of wood), which gives it a certain electronic allure and intensity, as well...

Growing Eyes Becoming String' is the sixteenth studio album from British noise-rock pioneers The Telescopes. Originally recorded over two sessions back in 2013 - one over a harsh Berlin winter in the Brian Jonestown Massacre studio with Fabien Leseure, and a second back in Leeds with early Telescopes producer Richard Formby - it's a lost treasure that nearly never was. Succumbing to a hard-drive crash nearly a decade ago, the sessions were presumed lost and soon forgotten, until now. Miraculously rescued from the digital ether and finished by founding member Stephen Lawrie in his own studio over the pandemic, the album is now finally set for release in February 2024 via Fuzz Club and reveals another side to where The Telescopes were at in 2013. Where their physical output at the time mostly consisted of experimental noise improvisations, so far removed from any obvious structure, 'Growing Eyes Becoming String' shows how The Telescopes - Lawrie backed by London experimental unit One Unique Signal - were actually creating more song-based music in a parallel existence. Across its seven tracks are all the trademarks of quality that longtime fans associate with The Telescopes' music. Solid songs, melody, harmony, noise, dissonance, improvisation, experimentation and an all-embracing journey beyond the realm of natural vision. "The objective with both sessions was to go in blind and be entirely in the moment", Lawrie recalls: "There were no preconceived ideas, everything was written as it went along. Much like our drive to Berlin, through an intense blizzard with almost zero visibility, we were relying on the heightened instinct of being entirely in the now." The result is another masterfully hypnotic set that matches its more melodic spaced-out moments against heavy drone-rock blow-outs: "Loaded with guitars, noise and melody, swirling around pounding repetition, this is a more vocal document of where The Telescopes head was at during that time." 180g frosted clear vinyl, printed inner-sleeve, download card included. Los Angeles-based dark melodic metal outfit Witherfall proudly presents their fourth full-length, “Sounds Of The Forgotten”, via DeathWave Records. Witherfall was formed in Los Angeles in 2013. The Devils embody the definitive sound of chaos; their style is primitive, filled with sex, sin, and Rock’n’Roll. They are wild, very loud, and sexy. “Wet Cactus” is an heavy rock band with psychedelic hints created in Cantabria (Spain) during the summer of 2013. The band is formed by Daniel Pascual (Voice & Bass), Ernesto Díez (Guitar), Óscar Sánchez (Guitar) and Jaime Pérez (Drums). They have two studio albums: "Wet Cactus" (2015) and "Dust, Hunger & Gloom" (2018). During their career, they carved out a place in the Nothern Spanish rock scene playing with bands like Yawning Man as well as in festivals like Resurrection Fest. "Magma Tres" is the band's third project. This conceptual album delves into the consequences of Earth's depletion as a life-sustaining planet due to human inaction in reversing their actions. Eight tracks recorded live in February 2022, showcasing a gritty and explosive atmosphere. It is set to be released in November 2023 through Electric Valley Records.

I Know I'm Funny haha is Webster's most realized manifestation yet of this emotional and musical alchemy. Continuing to bloom from her 2019 breakthrough and Secretly Canadian debut Atlanta Millionaires Club, Webster's sound draws as much from the lap-steel singer-songwriter pop of the 1970s and teardrop country tunes as it does from the audacious personalities of her city's rap and R&B community. The album began for Webster with the stirring ballad "In a Good Way," as in "You make me want to cry in a good way" _ an instant classic Faye Webster one-liner. It's beguilingly simple, the kind of melody and arrangement that seem to have existed forever. A sense of relief charges the neo-psychedelic pop of "Cheers," where Webster experiments with an overdriven guitar tone. She also collaborated, on "Overslept," with the Japanese artist Mei Ehara, who she calls the biggest influence on her new music. Webster's music is full of personality. Many of her songs contain bits of girl-group-esque talk-singing, which color her atypical storysongs. Webster says she's in a growth mindset, pushing herself to learn more, to be more vulnerable. "Growth is really important to me," she says. "I hope people will relate to my songs, and not just be like `this is a good record' but `this makes me feel something. This is making me think differently, this is making me question things.' I told myself a few years ago that I was going to be more honest in my songwriting, that honesty is the best route to take with music. If I have a voice and people are listening to me, I'm not going to waste it."
