Probably the most charismatic figure of all the Italian prog scene, Antonio Bartoccetti (Antonius Rex) began his career going to Milan from the Marche, forming Jacula, Dietro Noi Deserto (even with a single on Decca in 1971!), and Invisible Force (another lonely single in 1971). Not a real band but just a group of musicians working beyond the leading figures of Bartoccetti and Doris Norton: Zora from 1977, on the small Tickle label with an outrageous cover that was replaced with a different one a year later. Zora includes a reworking of a Jacula's Tardo pede in magiam versus track (Morte al potere is a third revised version of U.F.D.E.M.); their main elements are as usual church organ, dark atmospheres, lyrics dealing with occultism. This edition reproduces cover and music exactly as the original.

ANTISOCIAL SKILLS from Prague released their first self-titled 7" in 2017. Their sound is more in the vein of 80ies influenced midtempo HC/Punk with somewhat rocking elements. They added 10 songs to this record whose lyrics reflect on the solitude and hopelessness in modern society.

[ENG"Eat More Possum" is Antiseen's most acclaimed album, originally released in 1993 and now remastered for this vinyl reissue. ANTISEEN is an American punk rock band formed in Charlotte, North Carolina by Jeff Clayton and Joe Young in 1983. The name "Antiseen" serves as a deliberate deviation of the phrase "anti-scene" - the group not wishing to adhere to standard perceptions of punk rock in specific and rock music in general. Musically, Antiseen is influenced by groups such as the Ramones and Stooges, employing short, heavily distorted power chord-driven songs largely free of guitar solos or advanced musicianship. The band has a catalogue of over 100 LPs, EPs, CDs and DVDs recorded with various line-ups and have performed all over the world. Years after crawling from the primordial ooze of rural North Carolina, Antiseen proceed to bulldoze through the nineties with one quality release after another. Eat More Possum is one of the greatest specimens of gun totin', meat eatin', society rejectin' punk rock the Young / Clayton posse ever laid to wax. Young's guitar tone is particularly grinding, heartwarming like steel cutting machinery buzzing in your ear, capped by Jeff Clayton's trademark ursine raving. Speedballs like "Star Whore" and "Storm Trooper" are like chopper territory fights set to music, while anthropological studies on southern attitudes like "Trapped in Dixie" offer miles of perspective to the unfamiliar. The vegetarian torturing anthem "Animals (Eat 'em)" may be the tastiest nugget in this pannikin of dixie nihilism, and the boys nail one hell of a Ramones cover along the way. This is an absolute must for fans of extreme punk rock ala GG Allin, Dwarves, Poison Idea, etc.

The word ‘legendary’ is bandied around far too lazily and conveniently these days. But, in the case of Antisect: legendary is precisely what they are! Copenhagen’s Anti Ritual return with their second offering and first full-length album ‘Expel The Leeches’. Ten tracks of churning, pissed off, blackened hardcore, delivering a caustic commentary on the state of the world. While Anti Ritual draws on death metal, black metal, grind as well as hardcore to create its furious aesthetic, the band thematically emphasises the potential of aggressive music as being a political endeavour and furthermore its function as a cathartic cleanser for those involved.

Topics like modern capitalism, the many guises worn by the rising fascism, the fear of environmental collapse and the world we are leaving behind for future generations fuels this furious, yet dynamic record. The central drive behind the songs has once again been to find a constructive outlet for the less than optimistic outlook greeting anyone who cares to look up from their screens. These songs were written by Anti Ritual to help cope and to help put words to what surrounds us all.

As with Anti Ritual’s 2014 self-titled debut EP, the record is not meant as a pessimistic testament though. The sheer vitriol and passion poured into the making of these songs stem from a desire to make positive use of our anger and frustration. It is a way to ward off total apathy and the slow but certain descent into the indifference that covers every inch of postmodern society. An apathy that now threatens our very existence as a species.

‘Expel The Leeches’ is recorded and produced by the band itself, mastered by Brad Boatright (Nails, Sleep, From Ashes Rise a.o.) and bears artwork by Morten Grønnegaard. The album is set for a release on vinyl in 2021 through Indisciplinarian.

In poet and songwriter Anne Malin’s “Summer Angel,” tales of love and violence intersect in dreamlike soundscapes. Conceived in response to the poem “Summer Angel” by Alfred Starr Hamilton and Marianne Faithfull’s rendition of Morrissey’s “Dear God Please Help Me,” Anne Malin sings with childlike wonder and a sense of harrowing indictment, playing with the lyric as a multilayered tool for self-expression and self-protection alike.

“Summer Angel" wields prisms in the face of sexual abuse and its nonlinear aftermath, asking: what is healing, what is self-harm, and what might freedom look like? These songs, brought into full form with collaborators Will Ringwalt-Johnson, Trevor Nikrant, Jake Smith, DJ Young, and JayVe Montgomery, reveal Anne Malin’s fluid vocal range: capable of operatic force and cutting delivery, and confident in navigating the grey areas in between.

Echoing Henry Mancini and Songs: Ohia in equal measure, “Summer Angel” is Anne Malin’s most ambitious project yet. Produced by Andrija Tokic (Josephine Foster, Alabama Shakes) at the Bomb Shelter in Nashville, TN, Anne Malin and her collaborators worked with ease and humor, benefiting from Tokic’s vibrant conceptions of the songs. Tokic embraced an inappropriateness in production, collaging sounds—from saxophone, pedal steel, and orchestral percussion, to name a few—with agile nonchalance.

The band, chosen for their breadth of experience with song-form genres as well as fully improvised music, dynamically constructed sonic environments around the initial live tracking. Anne Malin, committed to one-take vocal delivery during the band’s live tracking, similarly embraced the possibilities of improvisation and the many shapes a song can take.

Sex Was Composed During The Formation Of Imhof's Art Show Of The Same Name, Previously Exhibited At Tate Modern, London, The Art Institute Of Chicago And Forthcoming At Castello Di Rivoli, Italy, This September. Imhof, Douglas And Bultheel, Reworked The Songs From How They Appeared In The Exhibition `Sex'. The Result Is A Compelling Record That Acts As An Imaginative Accompaniment To The `Sex' Performances, As Well As Standing Alone As A Progressive Collection Of Contemporary Compositions.Sex References Punk, Industrial And Grunge, And Boldly Juxtaposes These Forms With Music Of The Classical And Baroque Period. The Album Combines Classical Formals And Orchestration With Vocals That Are Rooted In Subcultural Traditions, Thus Beautifully Overdrawing And Overwriting These Forms With The Composer's Own.
