While far from a household name in reggae, Judah Eskender Tafari cultivated a loyal fanbase and respectable catalogue during his recording career. The Studio One single, "Rastafari Tell You" sits at the top of a small set of deep cuts he recorded for Coxson Dodd's famed studio starting in 1978. These have continued to find a place at roots reggae sound systems and DJ rub-a-dub parties after nearly five decades. The earnest lyrics and spiritual mission of these early recordings would define Judah's entire career, extending through the decades to "Great Escape", a new Daptone 45 produced by label stalwart Victor Axelrod. The song alludes to the Old Testament in a vision of mankind gone astray, trying to escape the confines of Earth for salvation. Axelrod provides a lush roots backdrop against which Eskender shines in a way we haven't heard in years.

Repress of Mad Professor's 90s Japanese Mono Lovers remix masterpiece 7" S.S.W. Yoshiko Gotoh is also known as the vocalist of Denki Groove's 'Niji'. This is the first 7" release from '19, coupling the classic "First Light" with a superb dub mix of "Nameless Pierce", and is now being repressed in a limited edition of 300 copies Yoshiko Goshima was described as "a genius female singer with a five-octave voice" in the 1990s and early 2000s. She is a talented artist who is popular for her soulful singing that combines sweetness and toughness, and her 1999 hit single 'Open Up', which was used in a TV commercial, is also memorable. This 7" couples two rare remixes by the reggae dub scene's Mad Professor. The A-side features the 'Mad's Lovers Smooth Mix ver.' from the 'First Light Remixes' 12" single, which was released as a promo-only single in '97 and is now hard to find. A light dub number with dreamy synths and a stretched high-tone voice that feels great, the B-side is the "Mad's Summer Swim Mix" of "No Name Earrings" from the CD single "Swingin' the Swing", also released in '97. Former Link 80 Members Make THE Fully Realized SKA / Punk / Hardcore Follow UP That Fans Have Been Waiting FOR Featuring Members OF RX Bandits AND THE Suicide Machines When Link 80 played their final show / reunion show in San Francisco in 2017, members Adam Davis and Barry Kripene realized they weren’t done with ska punk. The incredible response emboldened and inspired them to create a new ska punk project to carry on Link 80’s legacy.... in spirit, style, and sound, while blending new ideas to fit the burdgeoning and newly revived ska scene. Thus, Omnigone was born. In 2019 the band released their debut LP “No Faith” on the then fledgling Bad Time Records, both parties unsure of what the general response from those who bore a connection to previous projects would have... but soon those fears were proven to be unfounded, as new and old fans alike rallied around the record and helped launch both the band and the label into moderate underground success. After 4 years of honing the band’s sound and style, “Against The Rest” fully realizes Omnigone’s potential in a way that their debut only flirted with, with the help of producer / engineer Jack Shirly (Jeff Rosenstock, Joyce Manor). The songs are agressive mixes of ska and hardcore, with as many catchy singalong gang vocal sections as brutal skull splitting screaming sections. The lyrics find singer Adam davis grappling with the insanity of the modern world and modern politics, tackling hypocrisy, injustices, and the need to band together to take on evils new and old. "One of a pair of absolute killer late '80s singjay reality tunes, originally released back to back on one notoriously rare 12 inch. Despite being from '87 these tunes have a wicked mid 80s style "live digital" sound with a band on the rhythm. These tunes were produced in Jamaica by Delroy Francis for his Claypot imprint. Delroy is better known as the producer behind the Park Heights label and record shop, one of Brooklyn's foundational players in the record biz. This batch of releases kicks off a long planned program of Park Heights productions, featuring as always rarities and previously unreleased tunes. These Nuthead tracks are recut from the mixdown master tape, the original '87 mixes for maximum pressure; a previous reissue of these tunes from a decade ago featured new mixes done at that time."

This is the first volume of the HOT Sauce compilation LPs dedicated to the Trojan related UK labels between 1965 and 1975. The initial plan is for at least 3 albums of 14 titles. HOT Sauce Volume 1 features Rocksteady, Boss Reggae, early Dub & early Reggae outstanding original Jamaican tracks including rare songs, overlooked gems, hidden treasures and some hits. The record labels showcased on the first volume are Attack, Amalgamated, Black Swan, Blue Cat, Downtown, Doctor Bird, Duke, Grape, High Note, Randy’s and Trojan. The tracks here have been selected according to their musical interest firstly, their rarity, and their complementarity. These tracks are all outstanding tracks, “killer tracks”, there are no “fillers” whatsoever. Particular attention has been paid to the way the songs are sequenced (or “mixed”) so that the album builds up nicely and gradually, generally starting with the Rocksteady songs on the A side and the 70s songs on the B side. HOT Sauce is a musical journey across the early Reggae UK labels and across different Jamaican musical genres & talents and the way they interact together. Worldwide exclusive, fully licensed ! Finally a proper re-issue of this stone cold soul-reggae classic. The record was originally published in 1993, but the first session dates back to 1979. It was around this time that Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith (of The Wailers and Soul Syndicate fame) approached the singer with the idea of re-making some Curtis Mayfield songs. ‘We The People Who Are Darker Than Blue’ was the first track generated during the meeting, followed after a couple of years by ‘Move On Up’. Devon Russell's birthplace and date are as much a mystery as the gaping holes in his recording career. He began with the Tartans, a mid-'60s rock steady vocal group comprised of himself, Prince Lincoln Thompson, Linbergh "Preps" Lewis and Cedric Myton; they disbanded after their 1967 hit "Dance All Night" (Federal Records). It is no mystery Jamaicans loved Motown soul, but this tribute was an epiphany on its own. With a crew comprised of eclectic master drummer Sly Dunbar, the album was completed at the Leggo Studios in Kingston, Jamaica with The Firehouse Crew on board. A mission accomplished ten years after the first foundation stone was laid. We recently heard Devon Russell ‘Move On Up’ and ‘We The People Who Are Darker Than Blue’ on the amazing Soul jazz compilation Disco Reggae Rockers, now you have the whole package !
