Re-issue of the legendary Augustus Pablo sessions. Recorded wayback at Randy's and Dynamic studios, voiced and mixed at King Tubby's studio! - In 1974-1975, Jacob Miller recorded a series of 7-Inch singles with the producer and melodica player Augustus Pablo for the emerging Rockers label, each vocal paired with a Pablo dub instrumental, including the top tunes "Baby I Love You So" and its dub companion "King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown". This LP collection was first issued by Greensleeves in 1992, representing some of the strongest roots reggae of the mid-1970s, presented in the 'showcase' style that features both the vocals and the dub version in sequence.

The late reggae singer Jacob Miller is an icon from reggae's golden era of the 1970s. A contemporary of Bob Marley who helped raise the genre to an international level as the lead singer of Inner Circle, his work is among the reggae’s most highly regarded. His cameo role in the film Rockers and the documentary Roots Rock Reggae have ensured his legacy.

The classic debut LP by Dub Narcotic Sound System, originally released on K Records and unavailable on vinyl for 25 years. The oddball indie-funk collective Dub Narcotic Sound System was spearheaded by vocalist Calvin Johnson, the former frontman of the legendary Beat Happening as well as the founder of the famed K Records label. Named in honor of Johnson's own Olympia, WA-based basement studio Dub Narcotic, the project was begun in 1994 with a rapid-fire series of funk-, rap-, and reggae-influenced singles including "Bite," "Fuck Shit Up," "Booty Run," and "Shake-a-Puddin'"; from the outset Johnson was the group's sole constant member, although over the course of subsequent releases, including the EPs Industrial Breakdown, Ridin' Shotgun, and Ship to Shore, the revolving lineup grew to include Olympia scenesters like Lois Maffeo as well as Larry Butler, Todd Ranslow, and Brian Weber, all three members of the hip-hop unit Dead Presidents. The first Dub Narcotic Sound System full-length, Rhythm Record, Vol. One: Echoes From the Scene Control Room, appeared in 1995; later efforts included 1996's Boot Party and 1998's Out of Your Mind. Sideways Soul, a collaboration with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, followed in 1999. Trouser Press wrote that "when not delving deep into the usual sorts of ambient studio trickery, the songs hit a '60s R&B stride, bathing in the stoned soul picnic ambience with uplifting spirit."

A classic dub set from Nick Manasseh & Jeremy The Equalizer, originally released on the Acid Jazz label in 1996, back on the streets courtesy of Partial Records. A balanced mixture of traditional roots dub - including a tasteful reworking on Bob Marley’s `Sun is Shining; rhythm - intwined with digital sounds and experimental leanings.

“Gun The Man Down ” by Dice The boss aka Pama Dice was first released in 1969 on the Trojan sublabel Joe with the track “Thief” by Joe Mansano on the B side. “Thief” is also reissued by us on a separate single dedicated to Joe Mansano. “Your Boss DJ” was also released in 1969 on the Joe Label with the track “Read The News” by Joe All Stars on the flip. Both titles are skinhead reggae classics that have never been reissued and are very much demand.

Referred to as "one of Reggae's quietest superstars" Jackie Mitto aka "The Keyboard King" had a remarkable path in Reggae music, a protege of Sly Stone, he started his career as part of Studio One's in house recording band and later went on to work with artists such as Bob Marley, Ub40, Barry White, Peter Tosh and Oscar Peterson. This album was the result of a rare occasion of being on tour in Africa and establishing musical connections with musicians from Ghana, recorded in Accra and mixed in London. Predominantly instrumental, this album is essential to any dub conscientious record collection, as it culminates the career of a Reggae legend whilst under new influences in West Africa resulting in an unmistakably characteristic modern dub sound. Jackie Mittoo is one of the defining figureheads of reggae music !From forming The Skatalites, at age 15, alongside Don Drummond, Roland Alphonso, Tommy McCook and others, to his work as writer, arranger, producer at Studio One records during the sixties, writing and playing for artists such as Alton Ellis, Ken Boothe, Marcia Griffiths and The Heptones (to name a few), to his career as a solo artist as well as leader of bands such as The Soul Brothers, Soul Vendors and The Sound Dimension, Jackie Mittoo is at the heart of reggae music. He was one of the instigators of Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae. In the seventies, DJ music and Dancehall were based upon classic rhythms of the sixties, many using the instrumental tracks that Jackie Mittoo created at Studio One at this time.This compilation features the work of Jackie Mittoo at Studio One. It features music recorded as a solo artist (as opposed to the numerous singers that he accompanied). Most of these are taken from his recordings in the mid-sixties where he was recording on an almost daily basis at Studio One"s Brentford Road studios developing the funky reggae sound that was his trademark.Jackie Mittoo is as much an icon of Reggae as he is to fans of Funk music. He is without doubt the funkiest keyboard player ever to come out of Jamaica!

A giant of the UK reggae scene since the late 70s and founder member of Matumbi. Bovell went on to produce a trail of classics by a genre-defying roster of artists, from Fela Kuti, dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson, to The Slits and The Pop Group, while also recording as Blackbeard for EMI. As if that wasn't enough, he also recorded the early Lovers chart hit, Janet Kay's Silly Games, and later a slew of Lovers Rock.
