We always try to bring something special when it comes to release a single on vinyl. This time, we are pleased to announce the return of one of the most obscure and talented vocal group from the early 80's: Time Unlimited. It's been more than twenty years that Donovan Joseph, Hugo Blackwood and Orville Smith, have been off the musical scene as Time Unlimited. During the recording sessions of the Roots Architects project in 2017, we had the chance to meet Donovan Joseph passing by the studio. Straightaway, we were telling ourselves that we had to see his legendary group name written on black wax again. Here it is, with a deep rub a dub cut backed by the High Times Players remembering the golden years of the group!

Running Back welcomes Blood Shanti! The Falasha Recordings main man and brother of UK’s living sound system legend Aba-Shanti delivers four breathtaking versions of Feater’s “Time Millionaire” (taken from the album ‚Socialo Blanco") in proper style. It might sound like an odd pairing, but it’s a match made in heaven. Blood Shanti makes it sound as if the song was written for him. Pressed on one 10″ in appropriate design and sleeve (watch out for the lion) it sounds as good as any slice of British reggae ever made (horns and piano included). While the “Main Mix” is everything that lovers rock should be, the three dub versions deconstruct and dismantle the composition more and more as they go along. The Fishska was formed in late 1997 in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia. They have been an active part within the Indonesian underground’s grass roots scene. In 2023 they released a second album, ‘Banned In Jakarta’. Two songs in that album are now released by Liquidator Music: ‘Johny’s Whiney’ and ‘Confession Of A Skinhead’. Both songs have 60’s style skinhead reggae. ‘Confession Of A Skinhead’ is based on their experience as young teenage skinheads back in the day. It talks about the cliche of loyalty within the scene, which ended up in a story of betrayal and deceit. ‘Johny’s Whiney’ is more of a working class protest satire, striking on the poor performance of their government.

After the success of the two Laurel Aitken previous singles backed by Mighty Megatons band, on which the Spanish band completes old unfinished masters from the legendary 'HIgh Priest Of Reggae', Liquidator Music releases now the third 7”. On the A side is a cover from The Paragons ‘Only A Smile’ rock steady classic, an elegant interpretation by the genuine Godfather Of Ska from Jamaica who pays tribute to his beloved singer John Holt. On the B side we can find ‘On The Plantation', a Roots Rock Reggae killer tune. Laurel produced, along his career, some conscious numbers, even rastafari and panafricanist but, probably, this one is the most militant along his legacy. Mighty Megatons has done a great job showing their versatility among the classic Jamaican sounds. A must for any Reggae and Rocksteady collector.

The A side contains the track “Forever”, featuring Nikolaj on melodica duties, who delivers deeply meditational melodies reminiscent of the great Augustus Pablo. This melodica version is performed over the “Always” riddim, sang by Clive Hylton on our previous 7” release (aldbs7017).

On the B side we find the track “Forever Dub”, a dub version mixed live by Ojah that takes us into a world of modulations that range from the subtle to the extreme.

Hand-stamped and served in a thick custom reversed kraftliner sleeve.

One of two hand-etched runic 12"s - designed by Yaqup Oxbjr -Steppers dubs from 2000F, who has previously released on Hyperdub.

Mennesker, named after a Nordic Rune, means man, people or mankind.

Danish dub is dark and deep, like the cold Nordic winters. With bass deeper than Mimer’s Well, militant rhythms harder than the Einherjer of Valhal, and never-ending echoes from beyond Ni heim.

2000F is the postal code of Frederik Birket-Smith’s hometown of Frederiks-berg. Since the early 1990s he has worked under the alias as producer, composer, promoter and DJ. He is now the CEO of Strøm, Denmark’s official electronic music organisation, co-owner of the Jolene Bar club, the event organisation OHOI!, and the Fyraftensboogie sound system.

Freestyle Records mark the recent passing of the great Lee "Scratch" Perry with this gem of 45 showcasing 2 of his stellar early Black Ark-era productions - plucked from the To Love Somebody LP reissue project from earlier this year, which unearthed the Perry-produced debut from Bunny Scott (aka Bunny Clarke aka Bunny Rugs, later of Third World).

The Blaxploitation-influenced funk track 'Kinky Fly' features members of The Chi-Lites' backing band (passing through the infamous studio whilst in Jamaica for a series of shows) - their horn section and Chinna Smith's wah-wah guitar shine through with synth overdubs adding to the mood, underpinned by the ghostly click tracks of the Conn Rhythm Unit (constituting one of Scratch's earliest experiments with drum machines). On the flip, the upbeat 'Sweet Loving Love' boasts a jaunty synthline high up in the mix and a stellar rhythm section augmenting Bunny's soulful tenor.
