With the ATR Pump Vertical, Reebok has once again launched a mid-top basketball boot for the spring 2024 season that has no need to fear any competition: The smart Reebok ATR Pump Vertical is appealing thanks to its curved, dynamic lines, the well-tuned colorway and the very specially designed outsole, which leaves nothing to be desired in terms of grip and also supports fast turning movements on the court. At the top of the Reebok ATR Pump Vertical, however, is a very special detail, namely the innovative pump technology introduced in the early 1990s, which was developed in 1989 by an inventor named Paul Litchfield who added air chambers that can be filled by a small pump located in the tongue, allowing the fit to be customized. Additional features of the Reebok mid-top ATR Pump Vertical include a smooth leather upper, a one-sided mesh grid at the padded collar, a soft and breathable textile lining, a foam-padded footbed, a foamed midsole and a variety of stylish branding details including vertical Above The Rim stitching at heel.

Reebok Basketball

Reebok was founded by Joseph William Foster in 1895 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. In 1924 the Reebok-predecessor JW Foster & Sons exclusively provided athletes with running shoes. 34 years later two of the founder’s grandsons, Joe and Jeff Foster, renamed the company Reebok inspired by the Afrikaans spelling of rhebok, a type of African antelope or gazelle. In 1979, Paul Fireman, a US sporting goods distributor, saw a pair of Reeboks at an international trade show and negotiated to sell them in the U.S. Soon Reebok successfully entered the North American market with three high-end runners, and in the following years, the brand stayed on a winning track, thanks to innovative designs that approached to the millions of Aerobic fans. When the Aerobic boom declined, Reebok also established a line of basketball shoes as well as apparel goods. But the greatest achievement of the company is the introduction of Pump technology that was developed by Paul Litchfield in 1989: With small air chambers and a built-in pump, people were able to create individualized fits for the best comfort you can imagine.
