After seven years, Japandroids have returned with Fateand Alcohol, their fourth and final full-length. Written inpart while the Vancouver duo-guitarist-vocalist BrianKing and drummer-vocalist David Prowse-were touringbehind their 2017 ANTI- debut, Near to the Wild Heartof Life, the album is at once a return to form and a thrillingstep forward, testament to the sort of chemistry thatthey"ve honed over the course of 18 years and hundredsof shows side-by-side. Their aim was simply to writesongs that they"d enjoy playing live, without sacrificingany of the nuance or ambition that marked their previouseffort.
