Before "Crazy" with Gnarls Barkley, CeeLo Green was an integral member of Goodie Mob. The group’s 1995 release Soul Food helped put Southern hip hop on the map - right down to being the moment the term "Dirty South" was first used. Features from OutKast’s Big Boi and Andre 300 only solidify this as being one of the true gems of Southern hip hop. This Southern classic is now presented in a unique colored vinyl run just for RSD Black Friday.

Two classic Jackie Stoudemire gems, ‘Flying High’ and ‘Guilty’ get a long overdue reissue, the former of which has never been available on vinyl before.

Picked up by Tap Records impresario Jeremiah Yisrael, Jackie spent the lion’s share of 1982 in the studio with Yisrael, the prolific Gene Redd and dozens of musicians, including purportedly Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra.

Ten songs were recorded over the course of the year, and two of the standouts are pressed loud and proud on either side of this limited 7 inch. First up the funk-fuelled, slick and stylish disco number ‘Flying High’, pressed for the first time ever to vinyl. ‘Guilty’ takes the B, one of the last songs Gene Redd would ever pen and some of the finest production work in a career that spanned four decades. A timeless hip-hop classic, Souls of Mischief's 93 'Til Infinity was released in February 1993 on Jive Records, serving as the second single from their debut album of the same name. A remarkable feat of lyricism, the track stands out from much of the harder hip-hop that was prevalent in the era. Subtly jazzy and melodic, the song drags listeners in with its winding rhymes, giving listeners a glimpse into how the West Coast brings the heat. Four amazing MCs combine forces to illustrate the power of hip-hop boasting, making this track a timeless hit. To celebrate 30 years of 93 ‘Til Infinity, classic remixes are available on vinyl for the first time ever for RSD Black Friday.

Intoxicated Demons: The EP is the debut extended play by American hip-hop trio The Beatnuts. It was released in 1993 by Relativity Records and was produced exclusively by The Beatnuts. The project consisted of two singles, "Reign of the Tec" and "No Equal," in addition to eleven cuts and five skits, spanning a total length of twenty-five minutes. Upon release, reviewers praised the album for its blend of jazzy boom bap, syncopated lean drum machines and a myriad of jazz, funk and soul samples. For the 30th anniversary, Intoxicated Demons: The EP will be released on Red vinyl exclusively for RSD Black Friday.

The collective has completed many tours together, and its debut album Escape From New York comes across as a collection of high level cyphers from Joey Bada$$, Nyck Caution, Kirk Knight, CJ Fly, Flatbush Zombies & more. Not surprising as the Brooklyn natives, a lot of them friends since childhood, have never shied away from the lyrics-centered tradition of New York hip-hop.

Their distinctive voices and skills on the mic, as well as NY-centric storytelling drive the album, and the chemistry is undeniable. The production is tight, but this is also where the supergroup shifts away from musically, perhaps what the title of the project is alluding to. Erick Arc Elliott, Power Pleasant, Sam Wish, and Tyler Dopps lay down slick, bouncy instrumentals as opposed to boom bap, and it's refreshing and fun to hear the group expand its sound. Catch The Groove: Live At The Penthouse 1963-1967 is a collection of previously unreleased live recordings of the iconic vibraphonist Cal Tjader from the Penthouse jazz club in Seattle, with the legendary percussionist Armando Peraza and bassist Monk Montgomery. This release is culled from six different performances, recorded by Seattle radio DJ Jim Wilke and broadcast live. The Body-Hat Syndrome is the third album from the rap group Digital Underground. The album's second single, an anti-racism cultural awareness politico called "Wussup Wit the Luv," features a solo from the Funkadelic guitarist Michael Hampton, as well as a verse and video appearance by Tupac Shakur. This was the last time Shakur appeared on any Digital Underground release. The album also contains "The Humpty Dance Awards," the group's humorous shout-out to the many artists who sampled "The Humpty Dance" before 1993 (since then the list has grown to more than 50 artists). The Body-Hat Syndrome, originally released on October 5, 1993, is celebrating its 30th anniversary. It has only been released as a special Italian vinyl version making this RSD Black Friday the first time it will be released on vinyl globally.

"Gilles Peterson has been given the keys to Warner’s impressive Jazz back-catalogue and hand-selected Yusef Lateef’s legendary Detroit Latitude 42° 30' Longitude 83° for Arc Records next release. This is the first time the album has been reissued on vinyl since its originally came out in 1969. The album is Lateef’s nostalgic love-letter to his hometown and one of the rawest works in his catalogue but the record looks forward as well as back. The compositions are laced with the seeds of 70s Jazz Funk that would come to dominate the following decade. Arc Records have given this overlooked piece in Lateef’s oeuvre a bespoke reissue treatment. The audio has been remastered in mono from the original tapes by legendary engineer Bernie Grundman - best known for personally mastering industry landmarks such as Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, Prince’s “Purple Rain” and Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic” among many others. Recorded during Pearl Jams March 5, 1998 Melbourne Park show during the Australian tour in support of their fifth studio album Yield, the highly sought after Give Way is released on vinyl for the first time. The 17-track album, pressed on double black vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve, includes live versions of Given To Fly, Faithfull and Do The Evolution.

The title of this Record Store Day 2023 release, Give Way, is a nod to the Australian counterpart to the United States yield sign.

Level Headed was without doubt the most distinctive album Sweet ever produced. It is both varied in itself and very different from almost anything that they had released before. In a lot of ways, it was Sweet taking a risk. It shows many aspects of the band that are easily overlooked on previous albums and unseen aspects for the first time. The album gave them their final Top Ten hit with the dreamy "Love Is Like Oxygen," a single that has become a staple for the band. This release includes never released alternative mixes and demos from the original release. Pressed on Clear Blue Vinyl.

Rock im Park 2001 is a live festival recording from Nuremberg, Germany, and captures a Limp Bizkit festival performance praised as “chaotic, frenzied-high energy.” DJ Lethal functions as the sound designer, shaping their sound on this recording. According to Lethal, "I try and bring new sounds, not just the regular chirping scratching sounds. It's all different stuff that you haven't heard before.

Iron Man (aka the Eric Dolphy Record), originally released in 1968, is known as an extraordinarily complex and challenging recording. A jazz multi-instrumentalist who gained prominence in the 1960s, Dolphy extended the vocabulary and boundaries of the alto saxophone and was among the earliest significant jazz flute soloists. Vinyl for the album ALL MUSIC calls “ESSENTIAL” has been long out of print and unavailable.
