This very personal take on the Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog" from 1983 is one of the most iconic and sought-after records from the early years of Spanish punk music. This short-life band led by girls made an historical appearance on Spanish TV that generated an unprecedented media, and even legal, uproar. Available again after 15 years out of print with its original artwork and including a poster of the band.On the morning of Saturday, April 16, 1983, the Spanish television show "Caja de Ritmos" aired the video 'Me gusta ser una zorra', a personal adaptation of The Stooges' classic 'I Wanna Be Your Dog', by the Basque punk band Vulpes. The media, and even legal, uproar that their television appearance generated had unprecedented consequences in the entire history of TVE (Spanish National Television), including the resignation of the program's director.Taking advantage of the notoriety achieved by the band, Dos Rombos -an independent Spanish label- would materialize the release of the single, previously modifying the name of the group by adding a final 'S' that would only increase the controversy: Vulpess.Closely watched by the police and beset by far-right violence, the gigs to present the single frequently ended in incidents. The story of this pioneering band, led by girls (Loles Vázquez on guitar, Estíbaliz Markiegui on vocals, Ruth Astigarraga -former member of N-634- on bass and Bernardo Vázquez -from M.C.D.- on drums; as well as Lupe Vázquez and Mamen Rodrigo), would soon come to an end, elevating the Vulpess to the category of myth, and their only proper release of the early 80s becoming a sought-after collector's item, and an icon of the early years of punk music sung in Spanish and an icon of a historical period in which Spain was moving towards full democracy, getting over last vestiges of the still recent dictatorship.

Travels With My Amp! packs a few of the Groovie GhoulieS’ biggest hits: “The Highwayman” and “Bye Bye Brain,” along with perennial fan favorites “Hair Of Gold (And Skin Of Blue),” “(The Girl Is) An Unsolved Mystery,” and “Ghoulie Family.” The band returned for the third time to Sonic Iguana Studios in Lafayette, Indiana to have producer Mass Giorgini at the helm. The line-up consists of Kepi on vocals, Roach on guitar, B-Face on bass, and Amy on drums. The sessions were successful and the record was well received, but within a year the mismanagement of the label forced them to jump ship, and the GhoulieS, who did indeed love to travel, continued touring and found new homes for their new recordings.

Futurismo present their new anthology series: Altered Vision, beginning with Suburban Annihilation The California Hardcore Explosion / From The City To The Beach: 1978-1983. This aggressive collection draws from California’s rich history of punk, more specifically hardcore: a new sound that eschewed melody for intensity, a sound that took punk harder and faster, a sound intrinsically American. Whilst hardcore was also burning over on the East Coast, it was in California that it had ignited and sprawled, a sonic punch in the face that raged socio-political disdain and total abandonment for commercialism, fueled by a crumbling American Dream and the collapse of family values. Suburban Annihilation takes you from the major cities, to the coastal towns, to the SoCal suburbs, showcasing some the most important bands of the West Coast. Blasting off with the Adolescents ‘I Hate Children’, it heads from the year zero of Middle Class’s ‘Out Of Vogue’ to the surf punk of Agent Orange’s ‘Bloodstains’, from the blues tinged outlaw of The Gun Club’s ‘She’s Like Heroin to Me’ to the classic anti-anthems: ‘Live Fast Die Young’ by the Circle Jerks, lifted from their seminal Group Sex album, and the hardcore staple ‘California Über Alles’ by the Dead Kennedys. Also present are so many other bands integral to the era: T.S.O.L, Wasted Youth, Germs, Social Distortion, Suicidal Tendencies, Negative Trend, Flipper and many more. Though the music was designed to repel, this historical document has been lovingly designed to remind us that this genre created some of the most immediate and acutely-realized music ever produced. It’s the 40th anniversary year of their inaugural, incendiary, nihilistic, and influential underground punk record Landshark! And this year, first wave West Coast hardcore punk scene and Berkeley punk alumni, released their ninth studio LP No Warning Shots Fired, consisting of 13 urgent and caustic hardcore punk, crossover thrash, metal, and crust tracks. Profiled in the 2017 documentary Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk, Fang have influenced the sound of and have been covered by many bands through the years. Metallica recorded “The Money Will Roll Right In” during the Master of Puppets sessions. Kurt Cobain named Landshark his sixth favorite record of all time. Butthole Surfers, Green Day, Nirvana, Metallica, Mudhoney, and many others have included songs by Fang on studio albums or in live sets. Fang features Sammytown on vocals, Tommy and Obi on guitars, and Brandon Brown on bass, all of whom have been the core lineup for the last eight years, with headlining tours in Cuba, Hawaii, Japan, Mexico, and throughout the United States. Drummer Steven Gonzales joined the band this past year. Fang are pending announcements for a return to Mexico in the fall, a 19-date European tour in August, and a Landshark 40th anniversary SF Bay Area event in June of 2023.

From being right in the middle at the birth of US hardcore punk with DYS to creating the blueprint of melodic hardcore with DAG Nasty, from helping to invent pop punk as we know it with ALL to finding himself in the middle of the west coast punk explosion of the 90s with Down BY LAW: Smalley was always on the forefront every time hardcore punk pushed its envelope. While others may use a legacy like that as an excuse to take it a little slower, Dave Smalley has no intention to rest on his laurels and keeps writing new music and releasing records. When he founded Don't Sleep with fellow East Coast punk rockers Garrett Rothman, Tony Bavaria, Jim Bedorf and Tom McGrath in 2017, the world was more than excited about seeing him front a fast yet melodic hardcore band again. Being motivated by immensely positive feedback, Don't Sleep was finally ready to release its debut album "Turn the Tide" in 2020. And then the world came to a grinding halt. But after the dust settled, all five members decided that Don't Sleep was too important to not overcome all obstacles thrown in their way. The five piece went back into the rehearsal room, finished 8 original songs and added an amazing TOM Petty cover to the mix. The result is Don't Sleep's second full length "See Change".
