Permanent Present Tense has both the roots and the refinement that transcend the usual debut album. Fashion and genre are thrown down the fire escape in favor of memorable hooks and words that have immense replay value. Think Love and Arthur Lee, or even the Kinks' own Arthur. Brit pop & pub rock shouldered up to the shimmering guitar jangle of Haight-Ashbury, but arranged by Punks. Perhaps you'll remember this album differently, but the one sticking point to the Follies is their collective ability to synthesize the past into the present throughout ten utterly bulletproof tracks.

Junta's uncompromising and militant vision has been known for years in New York City, frequently manifesting with benefit shows across the city aimed at the empowerment and defense of the city's vibrant multicultural underground to which they belong and have committed unconditional militancy. The self-titled eleven-track weapon of social unrest and abject refusal represents the band's sense of belonging and commitment to a social fabric torn by segregation and injustice and their strenuous combat against powers much larger than themselves which has resulted in a bleak manifesto of cultural warfare. The work encompasses the most bitter aspects of idealism and realism, with this ambivalent concept animating a raw onslaught of blown out, dissonant hardcore aggression interwoven with passages of poetry and spoken word that define and exalt an existence spent at the forefront of struggle and in a perpetual fight for enlightenment and retribution.

Japan's hardcore punk pioneers G.I.S.M. were a band whose influence reached the remotest corners of underground music the world over, shaping the look, sound, and approach of generations of punk, hardcore, metal, and other extreme music acts for the last 40 years. Chief among their early Western champions was America’s own hardcore punk trailblazers, Poison Idea. If the metal/punk sound of Poison Idea's mid-to-late era recordings wasn’t evidence enough of this influence, look no further than the G.I.S.M. logo proudly adorning Jerry A’s leather vest on the back of 1987's War All The Time. Upon learning of G.I.S.M.’s visionary frontman and creative architect Sakevi YOKOYAMA's death on August 24th, 2023, Poison Idea and TKO felt compelled to honor the monumental legacy left in the wake of this loss, and we are now proud to present the result with Poison Idea's Tribute To G.I.S.M. 7” EP. Collecting both G.I.S.M. covers from P.I.'s 1993 We Must Burn sessions for the first time ever, every facet of this EP is a carefully crafted ode to the inimitable and uncompromising spirit of Sakevi and G.I.S.M. “Endless Blockades For The Pussyfooter” appears as a previously unreleased mix that differs from the version featured on We Must Burn, while “Death, Agonies & Screams” is the same version that appears on Poison Idea's posthumous Religion & Politics EP. Quest For Certainty is considered by many to be the best Shelter record ever. Originally released in 1992, it is comprised of tracks from the No Compromise and In Defense Of Reality EPs with a track from the Voice Of The Voiceless compilation, a Black Sabbath cover outtake from those sessions, and two live tracks. No Anchor follows up the band's 2013 How Much Shit Can You Take? / Aliens 7" as well as their 2012 LP, Canyons. No Anchor is the favorite Hot Water Music record that you’ve never heard before. Ship Thieves now being his primary songwriting outlet, Wollard was free to go all in on No Anchor with Chad Darby (samiam, Hawks AND Doves, Averkiou), Addison Burns (quit, THE Enablers) and Bobby Brown each contributing fantastic elements to the record. There was a heavy emphasis put on space and the songs benefit from a large, organic sound devoid of over processing and ultra compression. These songs breathe, they are alive, and they never let up from the moment the needle hits the groove. They are quite simply the very best songs Ship Thieves have ever written.

Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad musical genre that emerged in 1977 in the wake of punk rock. Post-punk musicians moved away from punk's traditional elements and raw simplicity, adopting instead a broader, more experimental approach that included a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Inspired by punk's energy and DIY ethos, but determined to break with rock clichés, artists experimented with styles such as funk, electronic music, jazz and dance music; dub and disco production techniques; and ideas from art and politics, including critical theory, modernist art, film and literature. These communities have produced independent record labels, visual art, multimedia performances and fanzines. These three compilations are by no means 'Best Of' or collections of chart hits. They are compilations that endeavour (and we think they do well) to take a wide-ranging look at the UK and American post-punk scene in the years from 1978 to 1984, but here almost everything stops in 1981, giving space to bands and artists that almost always didn't make it beyond the 45 rpm mark. A representation of the true 'Outside of Everything' of the era.

One of the main epiphanies the band
had when making the album was
understanding that inspiration didn’t have
