Influencial cult classic reissued plus new Botch song! Legendary Tacoma, Washington mathcore/hardcore/metal band Botch's second and final full-length album We Are the Romans was originally released in 1999, eventually becoming one of the most ground-breaking records during a pivotal shift in heavy music. Now, the band's seminal album is set to be re-issued and will include Botch's first new song in over 20 years, "One Twenty Two". There was never any intention for the band to release anything else, but when guitarist David Knudson went to write his debut solo LP, it made sense. He explains: "During Covid, I was writing my debut solo LP, and mentally, I was sick of everything in quarantine. Lots of frustration had set in at home, and I figured the best way to deal with it was to write something heavy. I had no intention of writing anything for Botch, but when I was thinking of a singer to collaborate with, I thought, "Hey, I know the best hardcore singer ever to do it," so I hit up Dave V. He was super excited and so it just kind of snowballed from there. There was never any intent or conversation about getting back together or writing. It just happened so naturally and was a great release for all of us to make it happen without any of the traditional pressure an "active" band faces." Bassist Brian Cook, guitarist David Knudson, drummer Tim Latona, and vocalist Dave Verellen formed Botch in 1993, eventually becoming one of the most significant bands of their time. Their final show was June 15, 2002, the same day as the release of their final EP, An Anthology of Dead Ends. The members would go on to play in These Arms Are Snakes, Minus the Bear, and Russian Circles, among others, with acclaim for the band coming mostly post-breakup. We Are the Romans went on to become one of the most influential albums ever for the genre garnering posthumous acclaim across the board.

Redemption 87 formed out of the bay area hardcore punk scene in the mid-’90s. Long overdue first reissue for one of the cult records of the second wave of italian 90s punk rock, ‘Ci Vediamo All’Inferno’ is the second full lenght by Palermo, Sicily’s pioneers Semprefreski. Originally out on the Gonna Puke label in the year 2001 and now available on vinyl for the first time in 21 years. Frantic, out of control, hyperfast punk rock in mother tongue italian revealing a piece of local punk rock history.

Following the differences that saw the original group implode on the road in 1989, Cryptic Slaughter’s guitarist Les Evans moved to Portland, Oregon, where he formed a new band with former Wehrmarkt and Sweaty Nipples drummer Brian Lehfeldt, plus bassist Bret Davis and vocalist Dave Hollingsworth, both formerly in local hardcore band Crud. Now metal was much more prominent and hardcore on the wane, but there are still signature tempo changes, here within longer, more complex song structures, prefacing the industrial and post-thrash crossover acts to follow. An enduring swansong for all lovers of these metalcore innovators.

The Pointed Sticks were formed in early 1978 and quickly became a big part of the underground punk / new wave scene in Vancouver, Canada, gigging with bands like D.O.A., the Subhumans and the Dishrags—they had a fun, quirky style that they combined with pure pop genius.

Their first single, “What Do You Want Me To Do / Somebody’s Mom,” was released in 1978 by the newly formed Quintessence Records. It quickly took off and led to the follow up “Real Thing / Out of Luck” single on Quintessence as well.

On the momentum of these instant pop classics, the band started touring up and down the west coast of North America, the crowds grew, and so did the press coverage. In 1980 the Pointed Sticks signed to Stiff Records and flew to England to record an album. Through bad luck and bad production, the album was never released (the Bob Rock production of the Perfect Youth album came out on Sudden Death in 1981).

Throughout their short career, 1978-1981, the band produced three singles and a multitude of demos and TV and radio recordings. The best of these have been melded together by Davie Wiese and Chris Cutress (producer of the fabulous Vancouver Complication album) into Waiting For The Real Thing.

On this compilation one gets to hear one of the very best bands of that great musical era at their most inspirational stage.

Rampaging D-beat hardcore punk, Stockholm’s Totalitär are one of the longest running and most renowned classic Swedish hardcore bands from the 1980’s, with almost twenty releases since their beginnings in 1985. Respected for their challenging political lyrics, Integrity and continual inventive spins on a brutal and straightforward formula of rock-driven, blasting hardcore. After a series of Farewell shows in Sweden and in the U.S. in 2003, Totalitar decided to do one final recording and album- Vi Ar Eliten (We are the Elite) which features seventeen rock-hard tracks. A combustive steamroller of their trademark desperate angry vocals, pounding rhythm section and searing guitar leads, their third full length album is one of their finest. Formed in south London in 1979, punk band The Business became associated with the Oi! movement in the early 1980s, making clear that they were against the extremism sometimes associated with it by staging Oi Against Racism events. Keep The Faith was the comeback album from 1994 that followed a long hiatus, songs like the censorious ‘Maradona’ and the title track showing they’d lost none of their propulsive hardcore power, while the controversial ‘Holiday In Seattle’ referenced the demise of Kurt Cobain. Another great Business disc for the hardcore and Oi! fanatics.

So the battle cry goes up on Raised Fist's stunning fifth full-length Veil Of Ignorance. Picking up where 2006's powerful Sound Of The Republic left off, and tearing at your ears like a rabid pitbull on steroids, the Lulea, Sweden quintet are in suitably defiant form after over a decade and a half thrilling audiences around the globe. Includes the tracks "friends & Traitors", "wounds" and "words & Phrases". The band proclaimed they were aiming for total perfection on their 5th album, which had brutal consequences for bass player Andreas 'Josse' Johansson. The bass player ended up in hospital after playing and recording bass lines up to 18 hours a day, which left him with a serious elbow injury and hospitalized for days. As the band quietly stated, ""When you want things perfect, these things happen,"

Raised Fist takes their intense hardcore even further with this album. The metal is there, but less prominent. The punk edge, the stomping build-ups and deadly aggressive styled vocals makes "Ignoring The Guidelines" to another great release from this hardcore cult maniacs. From Swedish hardcore/punk monsters, Raised Fist, Sound Of The Republic is a bold jaunt into slightly new waters for the band, be it blood soaked waters! Tracks like "Sunlight" and "Sound Of The Republic" feature guitars that swarm like blood thirsty, killer bees, drums that seem to move the ground beneath you and vocals that pound you non-stop from every direction; occasionally the vocals swing into a melodic chorus, but only briefly before they are smashed with a clap of thunder from frontman Alexander's lungs! The Gang's All Here is the second studio album released by American Celtic punk band the Dropkick Murphys in 1999. It is their first album with Al Barr. The album "[took] up the expected us-against-the-world pose," its songwriting is of a higher standard than contemporary punk albums. A charmfully, mangled, punked-up 'Amazing Grace' only adds to fun, wild ride 'The Gang's All Here' guarantees. "10 Years of Service" was the album's first and only single and music video from the Album.

Originally out on the glorious Mutant Pop Records in the year 2000, New York’s cult pop punkers Kung Fu Monkeys’ debut album makes it on vinyl for the very first time. The Kung Fu Monkeys are a dream inside a reverie inside a biscuit inside the mind of a fly, playing lo-fi kiddie pop and bug beat music and travelling the globe by hot air balloon.

In 2001 Lost Sounds released their sophomore double album, following up Memphis is Dead with a maturing sound that encapsulates the bands efforts to create a record that touched on many genres including Black Metal & New Wave (hence the album title). JAY Reatard, Alicja Trout, Rich Crook, and Jonas Garland created what is commonly known as one of the most important synthpunk records in the 2000s. Millencolin's debut album "Same Old Tunes" (originally released on October 28, 1994 under the original title "Tiny Tunes") opens with the incredible manic-paced and emotionally uplifting classic "Mr Clean" (which is still a highlight of any Millencolin show). "Same Old Tunes" is considered by many to be a defining record in the Skatepunk genre. Fast yet melodic; fun but sincere and pure concentrated sonic energy: This is Millencolin at their awesome inspirational beginning.

Originally released in 1994 by Photographer Murray Bowles and Filth bassist Lenny Johnson’s collaborative East Bay Menace label, this split combined two of New Mexico’s fiercest hardcore bands on one split LP. East Bay Transplants from Santa Fe, New Mexico GRIMPLE’s sound had become more harsh, caustic and acidic, retaining strong songwriting of their debut LP but shedding some of their pop sensibilities for quick metallic riffing. Their brother band, Santa Fe’s Logical Nonsense had also begun to leans heavier, creatively arranged songs which front harsh guttural vocals and brutal crushing riffs pointing to the sound of their raging follow up LP’s on Alternative Tentacles, and their influences of Extreme Noise Terror, Naplam Death and Neurosis. This album has not been repressed since it’s original pressing in 1994. It was been remixed by Noah Landis from Neurosis / Christ On Parade and re-mastered by BOB Weston at Chicago Mastering Service. The packaging is true to the original but has been painstakingly recreated with slight upgrades, including a new 11x22” insert with band photos and lyrics.

Doom never have been big on subtlety, and here there is no change in direction. They continue with the tried and the true d-beat crust they pioneered in the 80s. This record was recorded in 2001.
