THE Lungs have a mantra: “make it visceral,” and with their dynamic live performances and series of independently released EPs, this Los Angeles-based punk power trio has been doing just that since 2016. Driven by the daily hand-to-mouth grind that they and their fellow Angelenos endure, and fueled by the macro volatilities that sparked the anger of so many Americans, The Lungs express their discontent with a surge of infectious post-hardcore dynamism. The band formed after San Fernando Valley based musicians Trevor Howard and Billy Goldstein exchanged some home demos and realized that they were writing music for the same band… all they needed was a drummer. After hearing these demos, it took little convincing for powerhouse drummer Dylan Howard, Trevor’s brother, to agree to join the pair in their mission. The trio quickly set to work on their debut self-titled EP, which they released in 2017. They followed this with 2018’s Bodysnatchers EP, a split 7” with Total Massacre entitled Church + State in 2019, and a slew of kinetic live shows. While THE Lungs’s music is grounded in punk rock, the band borrows the frenetic spirit of hardcore, the immortal energy of rock and roll, and the discordance and rhythmic complexity of post-hardcore, channeling these into an undeniably commanding cacophony that is sure to become the next pandemic. Add to that, they've got something to say, addressing issues ranging from substance abuse to mental health collapse and collective economic pressures. The band has now teamed up with LA record label, Dune Altar, who are thrilled to announce the release of THE Lungs’s debut LP, Psychic Tombs.

Step Forward. Umeå Hardcore Originals. In 1989 there were no such things as Umeå Hardcore. There was no scene and hardly any punk bands. A bunch of friends got together under the moniker of Step Forward to play fast and wild Hardcore. This is the first proper Straight Edge band of Sweden - started a couple of years after some members of legendary Svart Parad brought it to Scandinavia. In their short lifespan between 89-91 they recorded two demos, put on numerous shows and did a fanzine called Umeå Hardcore Zine. For the first time ever the 2 demos are being released on vinyl. Remastered and with liner notes from Dennis Lyxzen and a bunch of unseen photos. The band was only around for a fraction of time but they had a huge impact on the small world surrounding them and Dennis of course went on to form Refused right after the break up. Members of Step Forward were also involved in bands like Final Exit, International Noise Conspiracy, E.T.A., Regulations, AC4 or Invsn in the next three decades! About THE Band: Mad Dogs is a band born and devoted to rock since 2009. In 2016 the band found its shape and stabililty after several formation changes. From now on the artistic and creative process has been oriented towards high energy rock and 70s’ sounds. In autumn of the same year, the Mad Dogs entered the Go Down Studio in Savignano sul Rubicone to record Ass Shakin ‘Dirty Rollers. The album was mixed and mastered by Alfredo “Epi” Gentili and it came out in April 2017 via Go Down Records. It was an instinctive record, written and recorded in a short time and able to shoot the band without filters. The project was supported by the 2 singles “I Can Move” and “Point Of View”, both launched with videos. The critics positively welcomed the work. Strengthened by the gained experience and with a new awareness, the band was ready to record the new album We Are Ready To Testify in June 2019. The Mad Dogs showed off a powerful sound, emphasizing the rock’n roll attitude and love for garage-rock sounds, but giving space to more refined details and 70s atmosphere too. During these years the band has shared the stage with artists such as Lords Of Altamont, Deniz Tek (Radio Birdman), Keith Streng (Fleshtones), Yawing Man, Sick Rose, Not Moving and many others.
