After 1993’s How To Clean Everything and 1996’s Less Talk, More Rock, Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes was PROPAGANDHI’s third and penultimate album on FAT. It marked a transition period for the band. Not only was it their first record after the departure of bassist/vocalist John K. SAMPSON—who was replaced by Todd KOWALSKI—but it also saw the start in the shift towards the sound that has now come to define them. The result was an album that, despite singer Chris HANNAH’s reservations, truly set the benchmark back then, and does so even more in its new sonic form. But the band was never quite happy with how the album turned out. It was betterthan it was given credit for. While the pieces were all there, the album lacked sonically in a way the band was never satisfied with. Fast forward almost two decades, when Propagandhi was in the studio with Jason Livermore mixing Victory Lap, and Hannah brought up the issues with Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes. Right there they decided that with a remix the album could be shaped into the masterpiece they intended way back in 2001. Finally, 20 years later, Propagandhi can say they are happy with how Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes (Reissue) turned out. CD features bonus tracks.

Formed by Ken Olden (worlds Collide, Battery, Better Than A Thousand) and Mike McTernan (when Tigers Fight) in 1993, Kingdom Of Lost Souls was the second full-length album and Revelation Records debut, originally released in 1998. Brutally honest and compelling lyrics with a vocal style that can only be described as apocalyptic, the overwhelming production, the matured, dynamic songwriting, and the nightmarish lyrics and vocals make this record a truly intense listening experience.

Orange 9mm was formed by vocalist Chaka Malik (burn) in 1992 with Chris Traynor on guitar, Eric Rice on bass, and Larry Gorman on drums. The hardcore rhythm outfit are self-described as a result of being “happy and pissed off at the same time and playing at the moment.” Orange 9mm went on to release two full-lengths on major labels East West and Atlantic, releasing videos, and touring with bands such as Quicksand, Biohazard, Deftones, and more.

Originally released in 2006, Seattle, WA’s Sinking Ships’ full-length Revelation debut, Disconnecting, took a look at the trials and tribulations of everyday life. Weaving elements of melody and hard-edge riffs, Sinking Ships created a sound all their own, somewhere between the familiar echoes of hardcore bands like Bane and IN MY Eyes, but with their own distinct, morose overtones.

Omega Sessions is a 5-song EP recorded by Bad Brains in 1980 and released in 1997. The tracks were recorded and mixed at the original Omega Recording Studios in Rockville, Maryland. The EP contains early versions of songs that eventually appeared on later releases, including a reading of "I Against I." Side B of the LP features a custom etching.

In the twenty or so years since his brainchild, The Dead Kennedys, officially disbanded, Jello Biafra has made a career of spoken word gigs interspersed with musical collaborations with some of the most compelling figures in underground music. Recording projects and touring with the likes of Melvins, NoMeansNo, DOA, Mojo Nixon, and Lard (with Ministry's Al Jorgensen) among others have kept his "punk as political weapon" message sharp, but the lack of his own band made these collaborations usually short-lived and left Biafra with a ton of songs that never saw the light of day. Inspired by The Stooges gig on Iggy Pop's 60th birthday in San Francisco, Biafra laid plans for his own 50th birthday party and finally decided it was time to start a band of his own. After cramming practices for a month, the four-piece dubbed themselves Jello Biafra and the Axis of Merry Evildoers! and featured Biafra, Ralph Spight (Victims Family, Freak Accident, Hellworms), Jon Weiss (Sharkbait, Horsey), and Billy Gould (Faith No More) The band took the stage in a sold-out two-night stand at San Francisco's Great American Music Hall. Flush from that exhilarating triumph, nine months of rehearsal and writing followed; they added ace guitarist Kimo Ball (Freak Accident, Carneyball Johnson, Mol Triffid, Griddle), and christened themselves Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine. The Audacity of Hype was produced by Biafra and engineered by hip hop producer and longtime co-conspirator Matt Kelley (Hieroglyphics, The Coup, Digital Underground, Victims Family, Tumor Circus) at Prairie Sun Recording in Cotati, CA, and San Francisco's Hyde Street Studios. The band's twin guitar attack retains some of the space-punk overtones and spy-music-on-meth chaos of The Dead Kennedys while adding a healthy dose of Detroit-style proto-punk flavored with Weiss' industrial excursions into metal percussion.

With 2007’s Here We Stand, legendary punk rockers Cock Sparrer moved into the 21st Century, and staked their claim on an exciting new era for the band. Never content to simply rest on the considerable laurels of their back catalog, the first Sparrer studio album since the 1997 not only put a new release into the hands of the old faithful and new fans alike, but kicked off a renewed period of active international touring and headlining festival appearances that has continued to this very day.

The Pointed Sticks were formed in early 1978 and quickly became a big part of the underground punk / new wave scene in Vancouver, Canada, gigging with bands like D.O.A., the Subhumans and the Dishrags—they had a fun, quirky style that they combined with pure pop genius.

Their first single, “What Do You Want Me To Do / Somebody’s Mom,” was released in 1978 by the newly formed Quintessence Records. It quickly took off and led to the follow up “Real Thing / Out of Luck” single on Quintessence as well.

On the momentum of these instant pop classics, the band started touring up and down the west coast of North America, the crowds grew, and so did the press coverage. In 1980 the Pointed Sticks signed to Stiff Records and flew to England to record an album. Through bad luck and bad production, the album was never released (the Bob Rock production of the Perfect Youth album came out on Sudden Death in 1981).

Throughout their short career, 1978-1981, the band produced three singles and a multitude of demos and TV and radio recordings. The best of these have been melded together by Davie Wiese and Chris Cutress (producer of the fabulous Vancouver Complication album) into Waiting For The Real Thing.

On this compilation one gets to hear one of the very best bands of that great musical era at their most inspirational stage.

The Art of Rebellion is the sixth studio album by American crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies, originally released in 1992. The album maintains its position as the band's most commercially successful studio album to date, and the songs "Nobody Hears" and "I'll Hate You Better" have the distinction of being the only top 40 hits in Suicidal Tendencies' career.

Loud, rude, and confrontational, Madball is praised for their unforgiving brutality and skill with raw lyrics and thick guitar grooves. Tracks like "Pride (Times Are Changing)" and the title track "Demonstrating My Style" have become classic staples of New York Hardcore/Punk and still make mosh pits around the world turn into complete chaos. Fumble is the fifth and final studio album. Orginally released in July 1993 through Dischord. It is notable for showcasing the band's expansion in style, towards a more post-hardcore sound with a Bad Brains influence, and also for having some of the first compositions of Dave Grohl.

Recorded after a hiatus lasting almost two decades, Part-Primitiv saw founder members Larry and Vin Cassidy joined by former Tunnelvision guitarist Ian Butterworth, as well as multi-instrumentalist Roger Wikeley. Self-produced in 2009, Nature + Degree was the first Sxxv project to feature new members Stephen Stringer and Stuart Hill. Compiling their EPs for Kill Rock Stars and Gravity Records with five more session outtakes, Unwound was released on Rumsey's Punk In My Vitamins as the band began flirting with the mainstream. Witness a band's prehistory as it plays out in a feral maelstrom of screaming, distortion, feedback, and abrasive promise.

Originally released in 1994 by Photographer Murray Bowles and Filth bassist Lenny Johnson’s collaborative East Bay Menace label, this split combined two of New Mexico’s fiercest hardcore bands on one split LP. East Bay Transplants from Santa Fe, New Mexico GRIMPLE’s sound had become more harsh, caustic and acidic, retaining strong songwriting of their debut LP but shedding some of their pop sensibilities for quick metallic riffing. Their brother band, Santa Fe’s Logical Nonsense had also begun to leans heavier, creatively arranged songs which front harsh guttural vocals and brutal crushing riffs pointing to the sound of their raging follow up LP’s on Alternative Tentacles, and their influences of Extreme Noise Terror, Naplam Death and Neurosis. This album has not been repressed since it’s original pressing in 1994. It was been remixed by Noah Landis from Neurosis / Christ On Parade and re-mastered by BOB Weston at Chicago Mastering Service. The packaging is true to the original but has been painstakingly recreated with slight upgrades, including a new 11x22” insert with band photos and lyrics.

Pennywise have remained doggedly faithful to the ideas and inspiration that launched them. On their sixth record, Straight Ahead, the band's stated goal was to create an album that would satisfy their long-time fans as well as take chances with different material, using social and political issues for inspiration. "My Own Country" explores the individual desire for autonomy, "Might Be A Dream" and "Still Can Be Great" seek to inspire courage and determination, while pointing out the flaws within our culture. The result of almost 5 months of constant work, Straight Ahead is the strongest and most diverse album to-date, with songs like "Alien," which received tons of radio airplay in Southern California. At the same time, Pennywise played a sold-out show at the Long Beach Sports Arena, an unheard-of feat for a local punk band from Hermosa Beach CA.

Full Circle is the emotional and pivotal album that followed the tragic death of founding member and bassist Jason Mathew Thirsk. Dedicated to the memory of Thirsk, Full Circle is hard as nails, reflective and ultimately redemptive. Despite the somber task at hand, the record is exhilarating and uplifting . With the help of long time friend Randy Bradbury on bass, Pennywise was able to look inward and work through the issues that would have torn a lesser band apart.
