It’s no wonder why. We The Helpless is every bit as hopeless as it sounds - a blitzkrieg of wails and nightmarish sonics that tighten themselves around the temples until the eyes turn white. Statement will always stand on its own two feet as a perfect set opener and Innocence to Ignorance’s unhinged atmospheric armageddon as well as Use Your Mind’s sample-sprung assault on the senses are possible indications of where the band could’ve wound up had their line-up not been walking such a shaky tightrope. Dead Moon's first LP! Originally released in 1989, In The Graveyard sounded like nothing else happening at the time. Lo -fi psychedelic masterful songwriting with so much murk and mystery—it's perfect. Features absolute hits like "In The Graveyard", "God Damn I Hate The Blues and "Dead In The Saddle." At last, one of the all-time bat legends, Nomeansno has returned to Alternative Tentacles Records. The entire catalog no less, starting with their most beloved album, Wrong. Using the original all-analog master, from the original mother, as engineered by George Horn, John Wright, and Jello Biafra.

Nomeansno formed in a vacuum, in Victoria, British Columbia in 1979 and honing their sounds for years before relocating to Vancouver and releasing eleven albums over an almost forty year career, including a collaborative album with Jello Biafra, and numerous EPs and singles. Originally formed as a two-piece by brothers John and Rob Wright, and later joined by monster guitarist, Andy Kerr. Mixing hardcore punk, dark lyrics, and sophisticated arrangements boarding on prog, Nomeansno was massively influential and widely regarded as the first band to be referred to as “math rock”.

Originally released on Alternative Tentacles in 1989, Wrong stands on its own and is still considered to be a much-loved classic. Allmusic called the album a masterpiece and a definitive jazz core album. In 2021, the album was voted by the public’s to win the Canadian Polaris Heritage Prize to honor classic Canadian albums released before the creation of the award.

In 2015, drummer John Wright described the album as their “most popular album by a country mile” and to the St. Louis Music Press of Wrong’s success to the rise of alternative music and the success of Nirvana:

“That’s where all the buzz about us came from. We were touring throughout the States in the mid-80s, and we’d get a little bit of an audience here and there, but after a couple of years in Europe, we started doing some big shows there, and all of a sudden, people in the States were coming out to our shows. And we went from getting paid $200 to getting paid $1000. It was just like that. You had to have the buzz, and then it all just kind of blew up.”

Getting Nomeansno vinyl into stores is long overdue, so it all starts here with Wrong. Expect all vintage Nomeansno vinyl to systematically return in the days ahead.

First released in 1989, the self-titled EP from Bold features four tracks, which at the time were a new direction for the band. Adding Tom Capone (quicksand/ Beyond) on guitar, the band’s sound evolved away from the traditional Youth Crew anthems heard on Speak Out, as did many of their peers in the scene at that time who were also exploring and pushing their boundaries musically. Recorded in February/March ’89 at Baby Monster Studios, NYC.

Proud to present you the extended edition of the classic and cult Intimidation EP on 12” vinyl including 3 bonus tracks that were recorded in that very same studio session back in June 1989 at the Bunkhouse Studio in Portsmouth. Lots of pictures straight out of the band members archive and some liner notes are included in the refreshed and updated artwork. To top it off, the whole session is carefully remastered for vinyl. The staccato beats, thriving bass, low crackling guitars and vocals skipping with youthful energy and aggression can not be imitated and can only sound the way they do like they did right then and right there. An anchor and milestone of US Oi! glory. We make sure this gem is preserved for the new generation as well as offering a fresh updated version for the old guard as a nice collectable piece of wax. Arising in the mid-1980s during the second wave of British psychobilly, the Frantic Flintstones was formed in Didcot, outside Oxford, by singer Chuck Harvey and former Meteors drummer Toby Griffin, who soon left. Following a debut EP on Raucous and the chart-topping A Nightmare On Nervous, with drummer Andy Celbo, the group signed to Links just as guitarist Pug Pete joined the fold. Not Christmas, their fourth for Links, is one of their most popular LPs, and rightly so, with ‘Frantic’ mutating Prince Buster’s ‘Madness’ and ‘Blue Christmas’ one of several Xmas-themed numbers. British psychobilly at its best!

The album-length result of Biafra's collaboration with long-time associates D.O.A. for the super soundtrack of Terminal City Ricochet! Both DKs and D.O.A. began playing music in the same week of 1978, so perhaps this project was bound to happen. It sure seems like it...

Gorilla Biscuits' "Start Today" is one of the most influential records in hardcore. Hailing from NYC, Gorilla Biscuits carved a niche within the NY hardcore scene. Blending the aggression and energy of bands like Agnostic Front with a sense of melody likened to Dag Nasty, Gorilla Biscuits still stands as a unique reference point for many hardcore bands that have come after them.

By the time Sunderland’s punk humourists the Toy Dolls released 1989’s Wakey Wakey!, bassist John ‘K’Cee’ Casey had joined founding member Olga and longstanding drummer Martin Yule for another great episode of their musical madness. Now with a metal edge underpinning their punk/Oi! hybrid, their versions of ‘Armenian folk song ‘The Sabre Dance’ and Chuck Berry’s ‘No Particular Place To Go’ are riveting and ‘Cloughy Is A Bootboy’ and ‘Lester Fiddled The Tax Man’ leave Olga’s humour intact. Many hail this is among the best Toy Dolls albums of all time – get it and understand why! Best played loud and often!

To most fans of hardcore, Judge is a band that needs no introduction. Judge took the ideals and positive goals of Youth OF Today and infused them with beefy guitar licks, introspective lyrics, and a hefty influx of New York style. The Bringin’ It Down full-length took Judge to an entirely different level. Funneling the energy of New York Crew through crunching guitars that had never been applied to their powerful brand of hardcore was an enormous shift. As abruptly as Judge had burst onto the scene, in 1991 they played a now infamous “final” show in Florida. Then, in May of 2013, Judge reunited in their hometown of NYC as headliners for the Black ‘n’ Blue Bowl. In 2015, they were the subject of a four-part series on Vice’s music blog, Noisey.com, titled There Will Be Quiet - The Story Of Judge, which has since premiered as a feature-length documentary.
