Rancid is without question one of the most successful and influential punk bands ever, not to mention being among the most prolific. Their nonstop songwriting and marathon studio sessions often result in far too many songs to fit onto their albums. True Rancid fans know that in addition to their classic long players, many of their finest tracks have been released as single B-sides, bonus tracks, on compilations, or in some cases have remained in the band’s vault. That is why B sides and C sides is no mere throwaway record, but an essential part of this classic band’s catalog. The songs collected here represent a cross section of everything that has made this band so beloved worldwide, including their creative genre hopping from blazing punk rock to danceable ska, to reggae, rockabilly, and more, all executed with some of the most impressive playing in the history of underground music. The songs range from fan-favorites like “I Wanna Riot” to obscure hidden gems from rare or hard-to-find compilations, and a handful of studio recordings that were completely unreleased before this album, several coming from the fertile recording sessions for the band’s sprawling 1998 masterpiece Life Won’t Wait. Originally released on CD in 2007, most of the tracks range from the band’s early days through their sixth album, Indestructible, although the 2012 track “Fuck You,” from the Pirates Press Records compilation Oi! This is Streetpunk! Volume 2 was added to place a definitive final word on the collection when it was pressed on vinyl. With the album being out of print and hard to find in its own right for the past ten years, Pirates Press Records is thrilled to partner with our friends in Rancid to remedy that situation, and make this essential piece of punk rock history available to their many fans across the globe - this time as an incredible double 12” with super deluxe Colored Vinyl and matching sleeve art!

Monster Squad's debut LP Strength Through Pain is back in print for its 20th anniversary! This 2004 LP was the definitive statement their fans were waiting for after 7 years of the band honing their sound and their message on tapes, CD-Rs, 7"s,comps, and splits, and it introduced them to wider audiences across the world! “Strength Through Pain -you can’t destroy the heart inside” was a lyric written by the band’s original guitarist Dave Gale in 1998. Its message of defiance against oppressive forces, internal or external, had become a central theme for the band and their audience. It was a rallying cry to overcome mental illness, abuse at home, government persecution, and all other ways young people are kept down. After Dave’s departure, the band crafted a new version of the song.The bonus flexi included with this re-issue of the LP features the original version of the song for the first time ever, along with “Won’t Conform,” another rare track from the era. The release of this record brought an even more ambitious slate of touring for the band, playing to bigger and bigger audiences, and crossing over to Europe for the first time. Reissues in both North America and Europe over the past 20 years have only solidified its place as the essential starting point for the band’s LP catalog. In addition to the bonus flexi, this new edition of Strength Through Pain features an 18x24 poster of the band’s iconic artwork, a 12-page booklet full of photos, stories, original lyric sheets and notes from the band members’ personal vaults, and a tribute to the band’s late friend, Travis “Bobby Hill” Gustafson. Depression is an album of overcoming the struggles that we all encounter in one form or another; seeing the strength that we all possess, though rarely recognizing it. The album is very much an illustration of personal stories from the band, their fans, friends, and loved ones. Monster Squad was formed in 1997 and after self-releasing a few tapes, a 7”, and a CD in the late ’90s/early ’00s, they’ve released records with Rodent Popsicle Records, Burnt Ramen Records, Charged Records, Punk Core Records, Glue Rot Records, and now Pirates Press Records in the USA, Tsor Records, Razorblade Music, and Voltage Records in Europe. Constant touring from 2003-09 across the USA, UK, and Europe earned them a massive and dedicated fan base. With the original release of "Depression," the band was able to tour Europe including appearances at Rebellion Fest and Moscow. Additionally, the band has been playing festivals like “Fuck You We Rock OK” Fest (starting in 2014), multiple times C.Y. Fest,, Punk Invasion Fest, and 40 Oz Fest. Since its release, the band has seen a flood of supporters reach out telling them how grateful they are about the lyrical content and how open frontman Phil Geck has been concerning mental health - helping listeners heal in their own ways. In addition to some amazing artwork by Winston Smith (Dead Kennedys, Green Day), the band collaborated with Bryan Lothian (A Global Threat) and Mike “Rufio” Kadomiya (life IS Posers) to throw some pretty incredible finishing touches on this extremely well-thought-out release! After a ten-year recording hiatus, all the while remaining the best of friends, this year, the time was just right. Some of the band’s personal dust settled and this album became a document of reflection. The band has grown so much, learned so much, and been continually inspired by the effect that they’ve had on their fans and the people around them. The record reflects that beautifully and musically sacrifices nothing in terms of the aggro and passion that has now driven them for over 20 years. Depression is a soundtrack to our intelligent screams at the world and ourselves; it’ll pick you up and set you back in motion, spinning around in that circle pit of life with the energy and heart of a teenager all over again! This new pressing has been remastered by the original engineer, Jack Shirley, along with layout changes by drummer Matthew Kadi!

Pirates Press Records is thrilled to celebrate the long running California punk rock band Monster Squad with an extensive vinyl reissue campaign, starting from the beginning with their debut EP! The 6-song EP Not For Them is truly ground zero for Monster Squad, and a document of the band’s origins. In the summer of 2000, the band members moved in together in a shanty of a punk house with old gravestones strewn about the basement, across the street from their skate spot of choice in Vacaville, CA. These were heady times for young punks at the end of their teenage years. As their reputation as outspoken rabble rousers, grew, so too did the target on their backs, enduring fights with cops, jocks, and rednecks, and even having a Molotov cocktail tossed at their front door by a local neo-Nazi who apparently took issue with the band’s anti-racist and anti-fascist stance! Across six songs, the band members bashed out what could be considered a manifesto for what Monster Squad would be: shout-along choruses, pogo punk positivity, lyrics that stated in no uncertain terms their opposition to the Bush-era war machine & Proposition-8 era institutionalized homophobia. Perhaps most personally, the song “Pressure” featured an honest & relatable discussion of mental health issues that would become a recurring theme in the ensuing decades. Originally self-released via CD-Rs burned on the clock at Guitar Center on the band’s own Strength Through Pain Records, Monster Squad’s Not For Them is on vinyl for the first time ever! Pirates Press Records is proud to present this essential piece of turn-of-the-century California punk on 12” Magenta Vinyl with Black Splatter.
