A summer tradition among the maiko and geiko of Kyoto, fans with their names written on them were gifted to their customers. Exclusively produced for Beams Plus, the Komaruya Sumii Handheld Fan (Shinjyuku Harajuku) continues this tradition.

Established in 1642, Komaruya Sumii is a manufacturer of traditional Kyoto-style fans. The company started making Uchiwa fans at the behest of the emperor, and the technique has been handed down orally from generation to generation.

Measures: approx. 25.1 x 41 cm; 100% bamboo paper; made in Kyoto, Japan.
