Rain&Shine proudly present Steve Elliott’s first album -True Image (1981). After failing to find musicians with the same direction and devotion to music he had acquired, Steve taught himself to play eleven different instruments and move from hometown of Pasadena, California to Denver Colorado.
Eager to express his musical ability, Steve became a DJ on KDKO radio, and would then go on to compose, arrange and perform True Image on September 20th 1981 with a collection of drum machines, synthesizers, and contributing musicians on rhodes, flute, guitar and vocals.
Mr. Elliott’s philosophy is “You hold in your hand a dream, a dream come true by a man whose only objective was to express the love he contains, the love we all contain within through music.”

'Village Boogie!' really deserves the status of a legendary rarity and holy grail for fans of afro funk music. The original album is incredibly rare today and fetches prices of $800! On this unique album Steve Black presents a new version of the smasher 'Brand New Wayo', originally played by the band Mixed Grill, in which Steve Black was also the singer. Along with that hit 'Village Boogie!' gives us six other groovers and movers that make your hips shake like you were hit by an earthquake, and in fact this is an earthquake of ever pulsating polyrhythmic drum and percussion patterns, as solid platform for lush horn arrangements and swinging bass lines. A little bit of guitar and other instrumentation adds color to the whole wild steaming funky sound and on top we find the utterly distinctive voice of Mr. Steve Black.

Contemporary German painter Albert Oehlen in vited Steamboat Switzerland to create music for his solo exhibitionTramonto Spaventoso at the Gagosian Gallery in Los Angeles, 2021. Oehlen and the experimental Swiss ensemble hadalready collaborated in 2019/2020 at the Serpentine Galleries (London). The recorded compositions draw connectionswith Oehlen's own visual strategies in which he interprets and transforms John Graham's painting Tramonto Spaventoso(Terrifying Sunset) (1940 49). The music has been played throughout the day of the exhibition from June 10 July 24,2021.Steamboat Switzerland are Dominik Blum (organ), Marino Pliakas (bass) and Lucas Niggli (drums) who define themselves as a "Hammond Avantcore trio". Recorded in Florence in May 1991, the concert is part of the tour between "Senza di Lei" in 1990 and "Zighidà", which will be released in 1992 after Sanremo festival. Three days after the concert the group will enter the recording studio (the Westlink in Pisa) to record the single for EMI "Qui non c'è il mare / Noi duri" with the production of Gianni Maroccolo. Classic lineup with Oskar on vocals, Naska on drums, Alex Loggia on guitar, Rudy Ruzza on bass and Senior on keyboards with in addition a wind section made up of trumpet, saxophone and trombone. 300 hand-numbered copies on white vinyl.

Born and raised in Kansas City, Omer J. Coleman was musically inclined from an early age. His parents couldn’t afford to buy him a real drum set, so he took up electrical wiring and wood shop instead, which fed his muse in a different direction. The future Commanderbegan working at the Armco Steel Mill when he was 18, and itwas while he was working at the mill that Coleman came up with Starship Commander Wooooo Wooooo. His coworkers built all of his equipment, from lighting and fog machines to big steel eyeglasses. Coleman’s sister, a seamstress, created his outfits. Self-released in1981,“Mastership” isa lost electronic funk classic. Coleman performs in an alien voice that comes not from electronic filtering but from his own natural vocal distortions.It’s an endearing and very personal space-age funk that blends George Clinton and Kraftwerk in a vision of a better and happier world.

South African production duo of Emil Zoghby and John Galanakis were responsible for a string of high-quality disco singles in the early 80s, typically cover versions of international hits — Klein & MBO’s ‘The Big Apple’, Sly & the Family Stone’s ‘Family Affair’ & David Joseph’s ‘You Can’t Hide (Your Love From Me)’ — backed with their own compositions. When Starlight hit the market with an album in 1983, it featured only one cover, the local hit ‘Picnic’, along with five of the duo’s original compositions, including their similarly styled response, ‘Picnicing’, which replaces the original’s sax with spaced-out synth stabs. Then there’s ‘Jah Jah Love’, an ecstatic disco sermon of dancefloor dynamite weighing in at over eight and a half minutes. Other tracks on this landmark album — ‘Let’s Go Dancing (Boogie Boogie)’, ‘Keep On Moving’ and an eponymous instrumental — offer a similar fusion of classic disco with newer Italo and proto-house influences: machine music with a human touch! Remastered from the original master tapes and reissued for the first time, Starlight will be available on vinyl and digital platforms from early 2023 (40 years after its initial release) via Afrosynth Records.
