"da Vinci" is another incarnation of the Tomasz Chyła Quintet, one of the most interesting revelations of the Polish jazz scene in recent years. Their third studio album referring to a Renaissance painter, architect, mathematician and… musician.

The album features a wide variety of musical concepts that bring together the impressions of how a versatile mind can work. The music for the album "da Vinci" is a combination of choral music, jazz, rock and contemporary music. The Art 'n' Voices vocal ensemble, of which Tomasz Chyła is a member, was invited to participate in the project.

"Da Vinci" sounds sometimes orchestral, sometimes very sparingly, it exposes melodies and interesting motifs or delves into sonorism. The musicians are open to exploration, which results in an album different than its predecessors, showing the band's new perspective.

Original copies from 1981 have sold for £200, but never on Discogs as copies are extremely rare. Songs are written and produced by Roy Ayers, “It’s Your Love” a co-write with Dee Dee Bridgewater. Ethel “Beatty” Barnes is from New York and worked predominantly as a performer on and off Broadway. She is credited to have record with such artists as George Benson and Jonathan Butler, but this is her own released recording. She appeared with Roy Ayers at Harlem Cultural Festival in 1969 and can be seen on stage in the documentary film “Summer of Soul” directed by Questtlove

Tel Aviv's Elado has put out a fine run of eight releases in just two years on the likes of GAMM, Barefoot Beats and Bonfido Disques, but for his next move, he branches out with his own reissue label. its aim is to "focus on uncovering lost gems" with the original paired with his own remixes. The first one is a 1983 private press from the Canadian pair OUI. 'Circle Of Love' is a big disco banger with flashy synth work and rugged arps, with a pair of Elado's mixes making it even more dancefloor ready. 'You Make Me High' is a more sentimental 80s pop sound. A fine start to life for this new label.

Folkloric Brasilian/Afro-Brasilian music taken into the future. Featuring Airto Moreira. Dança dos Tempos is the debut album from thrilling, young Brazilian guitarist Fabiano do
Nascimento, and it features legendary percussionist Airto Moreira in his first album project in
over ten years. Dança dos Tempos follows folkloric Brazilian music as experienced through the
mind and able fingers of an expansive musician, not yet thirty years old, and combines the
heady ‘60s and ‘70s experimentalism of Hermeto Pascoal and Baden Powell with the childlike
elegance of music played and passed down by native Brazilians for generations. It is the
second Brazilian album released on Now-Again, following Seu Jorge and Almaz.
Moreira, the bandleader, songwriter and producer who recorded a bevy of titles under his own
name, with his wife Flora Purim, and whose resume contains the names of - seriously - every
musician worth mentioning from America or Brazil from the past 50 years - plays percussion on
the album and is joined by do Nascimento's long time drummer, Ricardo "Tiki" Pasillas on trap
drums. Do Nascimento and Kana Shimanuki handle vocals on what is otherwise an airy instrumental
album that allows the guitarist's virtuosity to shine through originals, folkloric Brazilian
songs, and select covers by the likes of Pascoal and Powell, both formative influences on the
guitarist.
These duets show the camaraderie that two master Brazilian musicians - of two different
generations, but of the same spirit - share with comrades of ages past as they imagine music
for the years to come. These tracks were recorded live in the studio with no overdubs, straight
to 2” analog-tape, and only sparingly mastered to focus on the subtleties of the performances.

A long desire of extraordinaire saxophone player Peter Brötzmann was a studio recording of some of his favourite jazz tunes and his own music - a grande bridge over the music important for his life and his musical career in the past and present.... we invited him to Martin Siewert's studio in Vienna to do so in summer 2018. The result is intense, beautiful and touching. When I walk through the woods or stroll through a city I'm always whistling, tunes I have in my head through all my life and the only idea for this recording was to show - mostly to myself - the connection between what has been and what there is right NOW - the one can't exist without the other. You know - what was called ,revolution' in the 60ties was nothing more than the logical step in the right direction, strong but not strong enough if you have a look and listen what is happening in nowadays music and art. There are two ways to master this life - trying to be clever and fulfill expectations or to take a (sometimes very masochistic) stroll through time and eternity, trying to find out what's wrong with you. And if you have the feeling the bait is coming closer somebody moves the hook more far away again. That's what I am busy with and _. fuck the rest of the world.
