Who wouldn’t want to be soaking up the rays, Bali beachside right now, sippin’ on something strong, letting the music wash over you from the club behind? Well, following on from Austin Ato’s smasher for the label’s first release, Pantai People strap you in once again with a first-class ticket to that exotic, slice of summer we are all pining for, serving up four delectable edits from Marc Roberts.

Cinthie launched the Collective Cuts imprint 2019 with a VA from Kettama, Asquith, 9th House and S3A and has since gone on to release a follow up EP from the latter and a split EP from Anaxander and Azuni. As the name would suggest the label was built as a platform for Cinthie to showcase the music of her peers. Here we see this continue with a four track package welcoming back Asquith while introducing three new acts to the roster. Up first is Manuold with his ‘Classic Paradise’ cut, a disco-tinged house track employing soaring diva style vocals, bright keys, choppy bass hits and sweeping pad sequences throughout. Lobster Theremin’s Asquith then takes thing in a rave driven direction with bumpy breaks, heavy doses of sub bass and a hazy, resonant atmospheric pad. UC Beatz steps up next with ‘Picnic On A Roof’, laying down a smooth deep house feel via warbling Rhodes, cinematic strings, wandering jazz tinged bass and organic drums before Yard One round out the release with ‘Disjoint’, fusing a dynamic drum workout with gritty bass hits, bright synth sequence and emotive atmospherics.

While the info may be light on detail, the music is heavy on vibe.

Los Angeles disco/funk lover Luxxury’s latest EP "Set Me Free" - five slices of dreamy 80’s disco and funk influenced bedroom pop - got on the radar of in the know indie dance fans after repeated airplay on LA tastemaker station Kcrw. But the grooves, rubbery bass lines and shimmering synths barely mask the anxiety in the vocals, as Luxxury (Blake Robin) sings as if he were peering into the future from the world we’ve all just - and so, very recently - left behind.

Three reworks, three classics, three chances to transport your mind, body and soul to somewhere with a little more sizzle and spice.

You’d be hard pressed not to have been completely won over by Lovebirds and vocalist Stee Downes magnetic ‘Want You In My Soul’ back in 2011. A record that is as blissful as it is absorbing, a true crossover that seemed to appeal to everyone and anyone, skyrocketing prices up to £200 for an original on Discogs. South Street continue their incredible run with a fully remastered, officially licensed reissue of this cherished cut.
Clocking in at over eight minutes ‘Want You In My Soul’ is as pure a modern deep house anthem as you’ll get. An extended intro that gradually builds in intensity from the echoing pads to the shimmering arps, before the pulsing synths and Stee Downes instantly recognisable soul infused vocals come to the fore. Packed with passion, brimming with emotion it’s about as sun kissed as you can get without getting burnt.
On the flip, the never before released ‘Summer In London’ edit, that gets straight down to business, shortening the lengthy intro and adding extra percussive touches for a more DJ friendly take on the original.
A highly sought-after EP, finally given the reissue it deserves - a must-have in any collection.

Objet Melodie' is a combination of real instruments, synthesizers, drum machines and samples, involving genres from different countries of the world.
It's like being on a surreal oasis, where music is eclectic but also meditative or just for a dance. Interconnecting with the whole planet, imagining or living in different countries and trying to relate with diverse cultures and experimentation.
Lorenzo-Giulio Morresi, 'Objet melodie' producer, combined real instruments like Roland TR-707, Roland JUNO-60, a Gibson Memphis guitar, marimbas and steel drums with percussions samples taken from his personal record collection.
The other musicians involved are Stefano Ubaldini who plays the intro in 'Rituel' with an amazing hand-made guitar called 'Slitar', inspired from an Indian Sitar made with a broken metal window he picked up in a London backyard.
Fabio Mina is playing flutes on several tracks, like the Hulusi from China and the Nose Flute from Hawaiian islands. Giuseppe Diamanti plays tenor sax outros.
'Objet melodie' is inspired by sounds, technologies and traditions from planet earth, with the hope of staying interconnected as much as we can.

Together this partnership from The Netherlands and Italy form Light Cycles, a trio raised on sci-fi sound tracks and smouldering synth anthems. These influences are omnipresent in the group’s debut 12”: Flowing. Addictively catchy hooks and clean beats are central to the Light Cycles’ sound with their dazzling melodies glimmering across the 12”. Temples Of Jura is a new offshoot catering for original artist material from a variety of genres. The first release is a split Dub 12” featuring Melbourne’s Len Leise and Adelaide’s Jura Soundsystem. As the title suggests Len’s track is a homage to the legendary Dub pioneer Adrian Sherwood whilst Jura Soundsystem debut with a more Rootsy excursion across 3 mixes.

Parisian label Chuwanaga proudly presents the first opus of its new 12inch series, starting with the brand new EP of Koji Ono: Ricochet / Maloja Pass. Recorded during a short week-end in Paris, it is the result of a true collaboration by a team of musicians who wanted to bring a modern twist to a classic and timeless sound, staying true to the original late seventies/early eigthies dance music spirit and the passion of Chuwanaga for the original Britfunk. On bass, you’ll hear Lester Batchelor aka LB from Atmosfear, the legendary British JazzFunk band best known for their En Transe LP and the classic track « Dancing In Outerspace ». Killing it on the drums, Roy Mistry is their 2020 official drummer. Recording together in Studio Delta, with Koji playing almost all the other instruments, from keys to guitars to percussions, they all had a blast collaborating on these two new tracks. Add a blazing Rhodes solo by Jean-Michel Bernard on « Maloja Pass », some precious magic from producers Seiji Ono & Saint-James, a great dose of savoir-faire by sound engineer David Cukier aka Greita (Disques Flegon)… And you end up with two killer tunes ready to blast their way through your speakers. On both tracks, you’ll immediately recognize Koji Ono’s touch – as found on his previous Incognito EP : simple but uplifting melodies on synthetizers, sparkling guitars and a certain playfulness in the arrangements. On side A, « Ricochet » sounds like an irresistible mid-tempo boogie banger. On B side, the uptempo « Maloja Pass » is faster paced and bursts with energy, giving the listener an irresistible urge to travel endlessly through the night.

Sometimes there’s a huge talent out there and you desperately want the whole universe to discover it. That’s pretty much the story of Parisian label Chuwanaga with young French artist Koji Ono, composer and producer of these four precisely crafted gems, recording everything by himself.
Brilliantly mixed by Greita from Disques Flegon, his first EP Incognito is the product of a lot of influences, from Metro Area vibes to the original Britfunk sound. With an inner sense of elegance in the arrangements - something we may link to his Japanese heritage? - The whole EP brings musicality back on the dancefloor.
We believe this could be the beginning of a great story for this talented musician, Koji Ono emerging from the incognito shadow to the whole light of the world.

When you inject church into soulful house in a most subtle and effective way, you get the newest release from Kalim Shabazz in the form of “Joy”. What I like about this track is the fact that it is not overpowering like a lot of spiritual house tunes akin to this one. The vocalist delivers and doesn’t try to compete with the world or themselves. The subtly of Shabazz’s production is perfect and grounds everything as it clocks in at about 126.5 bpm. DJ Kemit’s The Lounge Lizards Remix of “Joy” (126 bpm) adds that ATL sound with a little bit of an extra bounce and groove but doesn’t take away from the feel of of the tune. The remix production fits the vocals just as easily as the original. It is a safe bet for either to be a choice mix for the DJ. Highly recommended!

Triangulating a slinky signal to a square mile off the Swan River, Glowing Pin bring us ‘Pentagon Palette’, a master blast of frequency adjusted house, swamp stomp and chakra charmers from Australian newcomer Jonus Eric. Though opening brace ‘The Cult’ and ‘Collect’ made first contact back in 2014, a loose connection between Perth and Hamburg hindered progress before ‘Mirrors’, ‘Emulator’ and ‘Waterfall’ walked across the web in 2019 to round out a dope debut release from this house auteur. Specialising in mind altering sound design and melodic flair, Jonus generates a neon swamp on ‘The Cult’, serving up a psychoactive roller caked in radioactive fuzz and insectile fizz. Thick bass swells and circular marimba make for a hypnotic rhythm, while a shapeshifting vocal and moody keyboard riff drag us back towards terra firma. The paradisiac refrain of ‘Collect’ soon sounds out through the jungle with a euphoric haze, its sub-tickling bass and acid gurgle riding hyperactive drum programming as the track warps in the humidity. Soaked in serotonin and brisk at 137 BPM, ‘Mirrors’ burns off the mist to offer an airy update on the French Touch template. Though frazzled circuitry and dislocated vox serve this one with a twist, the chiming pianos and bouncy beat are still best enjoyed in a Golf GTI in the summertime. Jonus reaches for the lasers via the restless rhythm and rave sirens of ‘Emulator’, a fresh take on the funky house of the late nineties updated with unexpected breaks, squealing feedback and treated vocals usually found on a Four Set banger. Next it’s off to the chillout room for ‘Waterfalls’, a fourth-world tone poem describing crystal caves, undiscovered wildlife and a holographic waterfall. Ditching the doof, and letting those colours tesselate, Jonus offers a +2 bump to your mana, before the post punk bassline, growling EBM vocal and off key organs of ‘YR Mind’ combine for a confrontational bonus track, only available in digital format.

Following the success of Joey Negro's 'Produced With Love' album, four of the album cuts get the remix treatment from an all-star cast of producers each with their own particular flavor.
Kicking it off Chicago legend Ron Trent takes the original funked out, Arthur Russell flavoured, 'Distorting Space Time' and turns it into a deep house groover complete with a strong walking bass alongside adding a soul & richness to the elements that only he knows how. Crackazat step up next to take on 'Lactican Boogie' crafting it into an uptempo piano driven, emotionally charged stomper sure to do some damage this summer.
Flip it over and Lay-Far delve into 'In Search of The Dream', adding squelchy synth stabs and a deep bass to give a more hard hitting edge to the track whilst retaining that disco flavor with Angela Johnson's emotive vocals.
Closing out the e.p. Fouk come full circle, bringing their hazy, jazz tinged style to 'Distorting Space Time' - building the remix around those warm Rhodes chords, shuffling rhythm and dynamic bassline.

After unleashing their new 10” label with a ridiculously classy double header from De Gama and Les Inferno back in May Samosa Records is back with another outrageously brilliant release in Sr10-02. This time round they feature the work of yet another incredibly talented Italian producer JazzyFunk. Samosa has become a real melting pot of Italian talent across all of their labels and JazzyFunk has delivered in aces here. As with Sr10-01 it features one track per side and JazzyFunk has provided two tracks of sublime and relentless groove. ‘All Night Love’ has 70’s disco power shining through from every angle from the ever so hooky guitar licks to the laser synths. Add in brass stabs aplenty and some divine vocal harmonies and this is a straight to the centre of the dance-floor anthem. Over on the flip ‘Sexy thing’ is ever so slightly deeper. It’s packed with one of those relentless string laden grooves from which it is simply impossible to escape from. Sax loops glide across the top providing another hook, it’s an impossibly brilliant track. This is a wonderful EP which is destined to fly off the shelves on release.

We love Javonntte as he covers everything from live and direct cuts to smooth deep house tunes as you will hear on his „private party ep“. No big fuss just pure house music! After his acclaimed debut EP « Cotonou » on Alma Negra’s record label, James Stewart comes back with his new EP Atlantic River Drive for Mawimbi Records, featuring two collaborations with Ghanaian kologo musician Ayuune Sule as well as two remixes from Simbad aka Smbd. James Stewart met Ghanaian kologo musician Ayuune Sule, after booking several shows of kologo music star King Ayisoba in Lyon. Stewart was quick to witness the bluesy tone of Ayuune’s voice and his kindness as a musician, despite his impressive stature. Quite logically, Stewart invited Sule to record vocals on two of his ongoing demos at Bruno Patchworks’ recording studio (Voilaaa, Mr. President, Da Break), with the idea of making a rather unheard crossover between traditional kologo music and contemporary styles that would both appeal to Ghanaian crowds and a Western audience. Stewart then had a number of his arrangement ideas re-recorded by a talented cast of musicians, resulting in a brilliant mix of acoustic and electronic textures, sounding both vintage and modern. Nodding to Eddie Palmieri’s landmark record “Harlem River Drive”, “Atlantic River Drive” is a stomping dancefloor track, drawing from the 6/8 feel of kologo music and the energy of contemporary club music. The track can be read as a tribute to the musical cross-pollinations between the African continent and its many diasporas, which Stewart has dedicated a long part of his life to, but also as a more intimate story about his life and family. All words were written by Stewart and then translated by Sule in his native Fra fra language from Northern Ghana. “Where Are We Going?” is a two-part journey that reminds us that we should care about each other, about our communities while we don’t know what the future is made of. An important and much welcome message to navigate through these troubled, uncertain times. Referencing congolese N’dombolo tracks, the track has two parts and rich arrangements, with its first part going deep with syncopated clarinet hooks and playful percussion parts, and its second part moving to a four-on-the-floor pattern and an entrancing baritone saxophone solo. The EP also features Worldwide FM and Brownswood maestro Simbad, who delivers two dancefloor-ready reworks of the track “Where Are We Going?” under his Smbd moniker, turning it into a spiritual, dubby journey, as well as an emotional house music track.

Cody Chesnutt’s Headphone Masterpiece is a core work in the WotNot inspiration book. Put that release through Google Deep Dream and Isayahh Wuddha’s Urban Brew is what you end up with. Recorded in Kyoto to multitrack tape recorder with vintage drum machines, guitars and Casio keyboard, the result is an eddying blend of lo-fi soulful indie, funk, rock and psychedelia.
The release is led by Wuddha’s strange but alluring vocal delivery, moving between tender-to-the-point-of-breaking any-second, almost-apathetic-semi-rapping and friendly conversational with the occasional James Brown scream dotted around.
While the music ranges from lively to ballad-esque, there is a sense of fun and playfulness throughout, enhanced by the raw, slapped-together production style.
With roots in Taiwan and Japan, Kyoto’s Isayahh Wuddha counts avant garde saxophonists Albert Ayler and Kaoru Abe among his early influences, but attributes his decision to make and release music to reading Michael Jackson’s biography!

Birthed at the turn of the ‘80s, synth and wave music has remained a constant force over the last four decades, with a recent spike in interest in the sound offering further proof of its’ timeless, out-of-this-world quality. It’s against this backdrop that Dutch DJ Interstellar Funk presents his celebration of the style, “Artificial Dancers – Waves of Synth”.
A bumper compilation bristling with obscure and hard-to-find gems, the set sees the Artificial Dance label founder joining the dots between synthesizer and drum machine-driven tracks in a variety of subtly different styles. It’s the result of hundreds of hours spent digging through dusty old records, tapes, and the Bandcamp accounts of DIY musicians who have been active since the sound’s first boom in the early 1980s.
The 11-track set draws on tracks made and released at different times over the last 40 years, with the earliest cut committed to tape in 1978 and the most recent in 2018. While the tracks date from the ‘80s, ‘90s, noughties and 2010s, the showcased cuts are united by a primitive but futuristic quality that makes dating them difficult. In many cases, it’s hard to tell which tracks were made in the early 1980s and which were conjured up in 21st century studios.
As you’d expect, highlights are plentiful with a number of the most unknown or sought-after cuts appearing on vinyl for the first time. In this category you’ll find the Human League’s odd but inspired early number “4JG”, a near mythical 1982 live version of Liasons Dangereuses’ “Dias Cortas” (previously only available on a VHS video) and Chris and Cosey’s “Hybrid C”, a brilliant mid-’90s cut plucked from their CD-only album “Skimble Skamble”. You’ll also find a rare demo version of Clan of Xymox’s Dutch darkwave classic “Stranger”, which became a club smash across Europe in 1983.
Interstellar Funk has also chosen to showcase tracks by a range of DIY producers and lesser-known artists. These include Californian band Batang Frisco, who self-released a sole private press album in 1986 (their contribution, “Sewing Machine”, is dedicated to founder member Bill DiMichele, who passed away this year), Matthias Schuster’s Im Namen Des Volkes project – which contributes the previously unreleased 2014 track “Alles Ist Gewinn” – and Zahgurim, a short-lived early ‘80s act who reunited in 2018 to record their first new material since 1983.
If that wasn’t enough to set pulses racing, the compilation also showcases a solo track by sadly departed Psyche member Stephen Huss. Nobody is quite sure when Huss recorded “Infinity Sign”, but we can confirm this is the first time that one of his solo productions has ever appeared on vinyl.

Ichisan’s 2017 Aperitiv was so good that we’ve decided to return for a second helping from his sumptuous album. Four choice cuts have been selected and reworked with a specific instrument focus. The harpsicord version of “Hotel” keeps the intoxicating melody of the original but allows beats to relax as notes shine with an incandescent brilliance. Drums put their feet up for the Rhodes version of “Modri Tunel.” Deep stings and lounging lines mingle in this work of smoke swirling seduction. “Kozmetika (Trumpet Version)” dances to a different tune. Rich bass is again central but this time brash and bold brass intertwine with funk filled bars. The last waltz arrives with the piano version of “Terminal E.” Alluring notes ascend, rising and falling against heartwrenching guitar strings for a finale to end this ballroom inspired beauty.

London based producer, multi-instrumentalist and artist Hoffy brings us five explosive disco/house monsters tailor made for when the clubs re-open and everyone goes ever so slightly nuts. With a couple of ridiculously uplifting releases on Forgot Records and a remix or two for Wah Wah 45s, of course, he knows how to move a crowd. His productions illustrate his deep love of classic (but never cheesy) disco, and an ability to create surges of energy even on the most docile of dance floors.

After surviving a lockdown x worldwide pandemic in 1 piece, without going insane, he has finally decided 2 conclude this phase of his tightrope walk between lush Ambient touched Modern-Funk & the choice of no vocals / strictly instrumental aural experiences, for listeners of all hues, backgrounds & taste. The hope is that it’s enjoyed in whatever way feasible for all human (& alien) kind.

This rare single offers two remixes from tracks from their covers EP V.I.D. (Very Important Discotecas). One is ‘Dame Un Poco De Tu Amor’, starring Baccara, remixed by Rayko. The other is a cover of Radio Futura’s ‘Dance Usted’ remixed by Fundacion’s Miguelito Superstar.

Celebrating 25 years as a recording artist and 15 years of his label Lazy Days Recordings, Fred Everything teams up with House Legend Robert Owens on ‘I’ll Take You In’. The track was recorded late last year when Robert was invited to perform with Fred in Montreal during a special event by Phil Collins (the artist not the singer!). The event was related to the art installation Bring Down The Walls, which examined racial injustice and the prison industrial complex in the US and Canada, through the unconventional lens of house music. Robert Owens needs no introduction of course, being the voice behind so many House Classics such as ‘I’ll Be Your Friend’, ‘Mystery of Love’ and of course ‘Bring Down The Walls’. The song was written the night before the studio session after meeting with Fred for the first time. ‘When I meet you, If I meet you, I’ll take you in. You become. Family’ It all came together naturally and has all the elements of a modern House Classic. Bouncy beats, rich chords and a driven bassline but most important : a song with a positive message and purpose deeply rooted in the tradition of this music we call House. On top of the Classic mix, there are 2 Btdw (Bring Down The Walls) versions, more stripped down, inspired by the event that made it possible. The choice of Remixer was easy, calling on one of his best friend and longest collaborator Martin ‘Atjazz’ Iveson who also collaborated with Robert in the past. Off the heels of his recent #1 remix of St-Germain ‘Rose Rouge’, he brought is A-Game incorporating a latin vibe with a quirk, thanks to his modulars and Moogs rig. Atjazz can do no wrong when it’s time to rework a nice song. A true master with a unique vision and dedication to sound.

Fratelli Malibu is an original idea of Andrea De Fazio with the cooperation of Paolo Petrella, drummer and bassist for the “Nu Guinea” live band. Their love for synthesizers and drum machines brought them together to create the shiny world of Ciro Miami.

We could think of Ciro as a neapolitan expat in the american dream, where he discovers a world of excess, flashy cars, cocktail bars, beautiful women, cocaine, gambling, spaceships and videogames that erodes all of his money forcing him to go back to Napoli completely broke, but with a fistful of wonderful memories.

Flip it over to the B Side and we have a new version of “Love & Happiness” remixed from the original multi track tapes by NY DJ/Remixer Mike Maurro who takes the track to over 10 minutes with instrumental extensions and beefed up drums keeping it respectful to the original as always. Produced by and dedicated to the late legendary Reid Whitelaw.

The title track of their 2015 LP 'Animal Nature' graces the A side, a slow-burning groove with throbbing synths, incendiary guitar riffs and soaring vocals. On the flip, Italian editors Tiger&Woods deliver a quintessentially T&W-style cut up and pumping rework of the anthemic 'Barbarians'.

Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee channel that summer sun into this soulful house, Balearic and disco laced four tracker on their own label, Editorial, complete with a slice of Cody Currie remix brilliance. DJ Koze might be one of the world’s best producers, but above all he’s a DJ, and it’s his DJ ear that governs. Just as in a great set, so with his releases: “Seeing Aliens” came out of nowhere, a big buzzing beast of a track, to announce that Koze was back on the scene and prime everyone for the coming album, knock knock. But now that Koze has your attention, it’s time to remind everyone what’s most important about club music, pull things back, take a turn to the left, and get deep into the groove. Thus “Pick Up": the second single from knock knock is 100% pure groove, doubly so in the extended 12″ version. In a sense it’s incredibly familiar - it is essentially a filter disco record, very close to something you could imagine coming out of Paris around the turn of the millennium.

Rahaan is back on Gamm and this time with his buddy DJ Emanuel with some nasty (!) post punk/funk disco. The A-side runs down a timeless Garage classic...but with a gritty twist. The B-side is just sex, orgy and disco crammed together on black plastic. Imma Phreak is just...phreaky.

Launching the brand new imprint it’s only fitting for the label bosses De Gama and Les Inferno to lead things out.
First up is De Gama’s Sometimes Sometimes which see’s him creating a much more reflective track than his previous powerful peak-time percussive club jams. Despite its ever so bluesy laid-back sentiments it’s no less a sublime outing. Velvety smooth the lead vocal is definitely one of those once heard never forgotten magical musical moments. It’s a track of simplicity, a smooth bassline, subtle guitar licks and the wonderful vocal performance. It’s an entrancing life affirming track which has all the hallmarks of a track which absolutely must be listened to again and again. And yeah, maybe just one more time!
Over on the flip Les Inferno takes us off towards classic Philly territory with an equally subtle but ever so funky slice of feel-good disco in ‘Yeah C’Mon’. Smooth percussion, an ever so danceable bassline, brilliantly performed yet subtle keys and another absolute monster vocal. And did we forget to mention the disco flute? Yeah Disco flute, does it get any better. We think not?
This is a 10” which is quite simply undeniable. You must have this in your collection right now because you will need to listen to it time and again. Samosa continues its quest to dominate the disco vinyl landscape with yet another ridiculously superb release.

With Samosa’s disco imprints currently dominating the vinyl charts in all the best record shops across the globe it’s safe to say that their Funk imprint Daje Funk is also making waves that are hard to miss. Just off the back of a stellar release with Paul Older and Musta Daje Funk Volume 6 see’s label boss De Gama teaming up with G.Markus for yet another top class funk get down. First up is De Gama’s monster ‘Feel The Groove’. I’m not sure if that’s an order or a request but either way it’s impossible not to do just that. Featuring thumping drums, shoulder shaking guitars, filters in all the right places and a sax solo to die for this is just a sublime track which will cause some serious dancefloor scenes. On the flip G. Markus, a pseudonym of the super talented Ben Gomori, drops a modern funk extravaganza in ‘Gwarn’. With those eponymous Funk wah guitars, yet more thumping drums, super tight percussion, some fierce keys and a bassline that just shakes this is true dance-floor gold. Daje Funks catalogue is building into one very serious collection of music. Make sure you check out the other releases right now before they are gone forever.

Having studied the complicated art of dreaming on Live At The Robert Johnson earlier this year, DC Salas returns with another remarkable clutch of cosmic excursions. Linking up with long-standing Parisian chic beat connaisseurs Slowciety, it’s time for Salas to show us a little ‘Exquisite Chaos’… Presentation (long version) The clue is in the title; ‘Exquisite Chaos’ is smooth, classy, hi-definition piece of intergalactic drama. Sweeping synths, rocket-fuelled kicks and a bassline that could circumnavigate the universe many times over without needing to refuel, it’s a classic DC Salas trip, the likes of which we’ve soaked up on labels such as Correspondant, Nein, BPitch and beyond. It’s backed up by the poignantly titled ‘Undivided’. A call for unity, it’s rattled with acid and sinewy synth lines all thrusting upwards with the positivity we missed for so long this year.
