DJ Koze might be one of the world’s best producers, but above all he’s a DJ, and it’s his DJ ear that governs. Just as in a great set, so with his releases: “Seeing Aliens” came out of nowhere, a big buzzing beast of a track, to announce that Koze was back on the scene and prime everyone for the coming album, knock knock. But now that Koze has your attention, it’s time to remind everyone what’s most important about club music, pull things back, take a turn to the left, and get deep into the groove. Thus “Pick Up": the second single from knock knock is 100% pure groove, doubly so in the extended 12″ version. In a sense it’s incredibly familiar - it is essentially a filter disco record, very close to something you could imagine coming out of Paris around the turn of the millennium.

Long awaited reissue of the the first LP by Mystic Jungle. Originally published in 2018, minimalistic funk and experimental boogie jams with a massive use of FM synthesis made by Periodica Records foreman.

Following the 7” revisiting Candi Staton’s much-loved gospel anthem, this Glitterbox Recordings 12” features four diverse remixes of ‘Hallelujah Anyway’, three of which are new to vinyl. Kicking off with Larse’s Vocal mix, touching deeper territory with a mid-tempo house rendition, Dr Packer’s indulgent piano-littered mix is next, picking up the energy and re-introducing the disco beat. Italian producer Moplen delivers a 90s-influenced Classic Club Vibe mix, maximising Candi’s uplifting vocal. Finally is FK’s Director’s Cut Signature Praise 12” Edit, a Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper production which is available here on vinyl for the very first time. Picking up the pace with soaring synths and a grooving beat, the mix takes the anthem firmly back to the dancefloor, compelled by the original song’s call for jubilation. Four must-hear mixes from Glitterbox, breathing fresh energy into this timeless record.

Simply an iconic track from Swiss brothers Mandrax and Seb K aka Shakedown, ‘At Night’ is one of the most recognisable house tracks of the last two decades. With one of the most-hyped remixes of the year, artist of the moment Peggy Gou delivers with a squelching 7 minute groover, bringing in that iconic synth motif to lift the production and keep it rolling. Stepping up to tackle this masterpiece with a nu-disco dance track, Tiger & Woods use cowbell to accent a B-boy beat, with drum machine breaks bringing it back to the dancefloor. With a sophisticated house remix with a nu-disco edge is Purple Disco Machine, fusing a funk-infused bassline with Terra Deva’s unforgettable vocals. Finally is a brand new version from the Shakedown duo themselves, the Galactic Boogie Mix. With saturated synths and interplanetary breakdowns, Shakedown bring a carefree 80s quality to this iconic track’s irresistible after-dark charm.

The first in a series of compilations by Jura Soundsystem is a blend of Dub, Ambient, Downtempo, Boogie and Proto House with a focus on music never before released on Vinyl, sought after out of print titles and some special versions edited specifically for the album.
The intention with this project was to delve deeper into the reissue pond and unearth some lesser known tracks and artists. Highlights include Smackos (AKA Legowelt) Ambient epic ‘We Can Watch Alf In The Hotel Room’, never before released on Vinyl, the Dub / Psych hybrid of Minus Group’s ‘Black Shadow’, Kash’s sought after ‘Percussion Sundance’ and special edits of Ken Dang and Tabou Combo. The end of the album includes some soothing Ambient tools.

The A side sees Fulton elevate the original from summertime neo soul jam, into a chuggy dancefloor masterpiece - reimagining the killer bassline & teasing the vocal until the full force of Alice's voice is let loose in one of the best breakdowns around.

Time for some completely fresh business from a relative newcomer to the scene, though we’re sure the name Cosmonection will be on your radars soon enough. The Parisian producer knocked us off our feet with a beautiful debut back in March this year on the fledgling Pont Neuf imprint. His ’10 Feet Before The Horizon EP’ was loaded with the just the kind of spaced- out, synth-heavy deep late night house that gets us all aquiver over here, so when a demo popped into the inbox we were all over it like a donkey on a waffle.

For the third release on new LA based Pleasure of Love, Dublin’s Mix & Fairbanks deliver tasteful reinterpretations of italo, african house, and rare 80s disco. The Dublin duo have releases on Orange Tree Edits, 045 Recordings, and Hot Digits but have saved some of their best material yet for this 12 Inch.On the A side, the euphoric Azoto rework is a driving disco romp for 'any time or place,' while 'Purple' patiently builds on a hypnotic bass with rhodes and airy leads before a sweet flight attendant lead take off. The 'Bee Side' kicks off with a carefully crafted reimagination of an 80s african house groove with added analog leads and percussion while 'Forever' fills out the release as a peak time disco banger that’s built on the framework of a certain famously unsung disco genius.

The lead off cut is the flat out roof raiser 'The Problem Solver'…..then it's boogified territory with 'Brand New Feelin', before they close out with the end of 'nighter, 'Try Love'. They don’t get much more anthemic than Idris Muhammad’s ‘Could Heaven Ever Be Like This’ and who better to rework it than edit royalty, Late Nite Tuff Guy. Subtle in his touches yet incorporating a more DJ friendly, dancefloor orientated beat and tension building intro which teases elements of this classic before that instantly recognizable bass riff and staccato guitar chords come into play.
That subtlety is key when it comes to handling a record as epic as this, elements are accentuated and looped, delicate effects are woven in but the soul and feeling of Idris’ music is lovingly maintained by LNTG.
And for the purists out there, the flip houses the original mix so you’ve got two paths to heaven to choose from.

Temples Of Jura is a new offshoot catering for original artist material from a variety of genres. The first release is a split Dub 12” featuring Melbourne’s Len Leise and Adelaide’s Jura Soundsystem. As the title suggests Len’s track is a homage to the legendary Dub pioneer Adrian Sherwood whilst Jura Soundsystem debut with a more Rootsy excursion across 3 mixes.

Growing Bin burst into 2018 with a bang, crash and symbol splash, uniting a premier pair of percussion obsessives for a supernatural mission into the heart of the rhythm.
Dressed in the pitch black of Dusseldorf stands Wolf Mueller, master of the tropical drums and seven time Salon Des Amateur breakdance champion. Repping Cologne and Berlin is Niklas Wandt, Germany’s funkiest drummer and a mixed musical artist as adept in experimental jazz as demented Eurodance. Standing toe to toe in a no holds barred, no drum unstruck groove contest, these two titans will make you swing your pants like a Crash Bandicoot victory dance... so stretch out and step into ‚Instrumentalmusik von der Mitte der World‘.
Taking to their task with the joyful abandon of two big kids getting creative with the Kindergarten music tray, Müller & Wandt marry dripping electronics, Froesean pads and rubber-limbed basslines with tribal polyrhythms, C2 claps and Indonesian shakers - and that‘s only on the A1. 'When No Pussyfooting was released in 1973 by two great pioneers like Eno and Fripp, that first whisper of their artistic association surprised many critics and fans. Yet, that kind of minimalist ambient sonority carried out by the two appeared in the ear like something absolutely new and innovative. Although nowadays we might be more accustomed to creative operations of this type, we are still fascinated, while listening, by the still possible achievement of relevant moments of musical epiphany, however distant we might be from that first eminent combination between keyboards and guitar which concerned electronic experimentation. Something similar occurred in this new collaboration between Riccardo Sinigaglia and Maurizio Abate; two generations in comparison, whose research developments unfold in the handful of different conceptions and experiences. Their music does not own a pre-defined structure; it receives its ultimate reason from the progressive and continuous metamorphosis of sound. It’s all the result of spontaneous sessions, during which a predisposition towards an active trance procedure, sustained by complementary flashes of lucidity, prevails. The dominant atmosphere is entirely oneiric, perpetually doubtful, still not linked to the passive remote unconscious: it rather reminds of lucid dreams, of phosphenes, of eidetic visualizations that belong to Tibetan tradition.

Carlotto, Cometa Music Hall, Music One, The One "O" One's, Don Bernini, Mondo Groove celebrates Italo-Disco in fine style delighting us with the most important tunes from the legendary Phantom Records; a ride deep into the world of the label that has not only produced renowned music, but has been acknowledged as a serious influence on modern disco sounds. Emerging in the late 70’s to early 80s, Italo bridged the gap between disco and house, and was a staple of seminal Chicago DJs like Frankie Knuckles (who pioneered many of the drum machines and synths that are still in use today).
