As soon as the pilots of the Space Oddities endeavour decided to tackle Yan Tregger's oeuvre, a major problem surfaced: where to begin? And where to end? Upon which side should one launch into the ascension of this body of work? It will have taken Alexis Le-Tan and Jess years to put up this selection, capturing the profusion and eclecticism of Tregger who, at 81 years old, has yet to lay down the arms and still defines himself as a "jack of all trades". Symphonies, library music, movie soundtracks, TV credits, advertisement, French variété, pop, disco, electronic, experimental or relaxation music, Yan Tregger (born Edouard Scotto di Suoccio) took up all genres, styles and formats through a career spanning from the end of the 50s to this day. How the Stakhanovist successfully went down so many different routes can be explained by his innate talent for composing melodies; they are the very basis on which his iconoclastic production was built. Ten years ago already, Yan Tregger had welcomed us in the studio of his Parisian suburb pavilion. There, sat in front of his machines and albums framed on the wall, he had delved into the midst of a life writing itself like would a rather unusual musical score.

Barbie the Album is the soundtrack album for the 2023 film Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig. It was released by Atlantic Records on July 21, 2023, the same day as the film's North American theatrical release. The album was produced by Mark Ronson, Kevin Weaver, and Brandon Davis. It was met with generally favorable reviews from critics.

The album was promoted by the release of six singles; the album's lead single "Dance the Night" by Dua Lipa topped the charts in 10 countries including the UK and Ireland as well as reaching the top ten in 25 countries including the US. The second single was "Angel" by PinkPantheress and the third was "Barbie World", a collaboration by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice with Aqua, which reached the top ten in 15 territories including the UK and US. A fourth single "Speed Drive" by Charli XCX was a top ten hit in the UK and Ireland. The fifth single "What Was I Made For?" by Billie Eilish topped the charts in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, and Australia, and entered the top ten in 15 countries. Ava Max's "Choose Your Fighter" was serviced to airplay radio as the album's sixth single on July 28, 2023.

Upon release, the album was met with critical and commercial success. It debuted at number one in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands and New Zealand and reached the top ten in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, and the United States. At the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, the album won Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, while four of its songs ("Dance the Night", "Barbie World", "What Was I Made For?", and "I'm Just Ken") received nominations for Best Song Written for Visual Media. "Dance the Night" and "What Was I Made For?" were additionally nominated for Song of the Year and the latter for Record of the Year.

Set in present-day Santa Cruz on the iconic Northern California coastline, the film, starring Oscar® winner Lupita Nyong’o and Black Panther’s Winston Duke, pits an ordinary American family against a terrifying and uncanny opponent: doppelgängers of themselves.

Abels featured a 30 person choir, a third of them children, in the “Anthem,” and implemented Eastern European instruments, violins, percussion, and a virtual instrument called a Propanium drum. “It makes this trashy metal sound, but you can also play melodies on it,” Abels said. “The Propanium drum has a sound that’s both otherworldly but not electronic or like science fiction. It’s a sound you can’t quite put your finger on, which is why it works well in this film.”

Also included on the soundtrack is the 1995 hip-hop hit “I Got 5 On It” by Luniz and the stand-out track “I Like That” by Janelle Monáe. Abels also helped with a new arrangement of the Luniz hit, which is featured on the soundtrack as the ‘Tethered Mix from Us’.

Waxwork is thrilled to present the soundtrack and score as a deluxe double LP featuring 180 gram "The Untethering" Red, Brass, and White split colored vinyl. The album artwork was created by illustrator Edward Kinsella. The interactive packaging includes die-cut inner gatefold jackets that require customers to use scissors to cut through family-member portraits to reveal their tethered doppelgängers lurking in the shadows on the printed inner sleeves housed within. Sullen member Dustin O’Halloran. He says about his recordings: “I

track “Horizons” he contacted his friend Ane Brun, who created beautiful

Samurai Champloo Music Record: Departure is a soundtrack album, originally released on June 23, 2004. It is the second of four soundtrack albums released for the show. The album was produced by Japanese DJ / producer Nujabes, and American MC/producer Fat Jon, and featured Japanese rapper Shing02 and Japanese singer-songwriter MINMI on the album’s first and last tracks, respectively. "L'Ultimo Treno della Notte" (Last Stop on the Night Train) is a 1975 thriller film directed by Aldo Lado, one of the most violent movies ever produced in Italy in the '70s (and beyond) that actually shows, even in the crudest scenes, for same admission of the director, a harsh attack against the bourgeois society and its powerful rich people. Despite the limited budget, the friendship between Aldo Lado and composer Ennio Morricone made this collaboration possible; nonetheless, only a 45rpm 7" was released at the time, containing the songs "Coincidenze" and a 'medley' version of the theme track with the train wheels rattling on the tracks in the background, while the song "A Flower's All You Need", sung by Demis Roussos of Aphrodite's Child, was included in a rare Japanese single. All these tracks can be found in this exclusive edition of Morricone's soundtrack, together with the various other versions of the film's main theme, characterized by a middle section filled with tension, pronounced rhythmic patterns and echoes of the legendary theme of “Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion". The notes of "Coincidenze" are just as worthy of the best Italian police movies, while the "Solitudine" theme adds sadness and melancholy notes to the mix. Franco De Gemini's harmonica also reminds us that this kind of films are nothing else than westerns set in modern times and contexts. Following nearly two years of global touring in support of their adventurous and acclaimed album, The Wilderness (2016), Explosions In The Sky paused on the future to reflect on the past. Celebrating their 20th year as a band with a pair of remastered reissues of early beloved classics - How Strange, Innocence (2000) and The Rescue (2005) - they embarked on a memorable series of anniversary concerts in 2019. Thom Yorke’s Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film) is released on XL Recordings. Suspiria consists of 25 original compositions written by Thom specifically for Luca Guadagnino reimagining of the 1977 Dario Argento horror classic. The album is a mix of instrumental score work, interstitial pieces and interludes, and more traditional song structures featuring Thom’s vocals such as Unmade, Has Ended and Suspirium, the album's first single featuring the melodic theme that recurs throughout the film and its score.

As scoring a horror film presented Thom with altogether new challenges and opportunities, Suspiria stands apart from any of his other work. Piano / vocal ballads, Krautrock-esque modular synth work inspired by the film’s Berlin 1977 setting, multilayered vocals, and melodies that convey terror, longing and melancholy combine to create a chaotic yet cohesive musical spell.

My Story, The Buraku Story is a new feature-length documentary film that explores the discrimination against a group of people - commonly called "the burakumin" - who were classed into lowly groups and segregated from the rest of Japanese society. Filmmaker Prichard Smith's striking documentary features all new music composed by the legendary King Khan, which is now being released as a beautiful 18-track double LP featuring contributions from Adan Jodorowsky, Saba Lou (Khan's daughter), Ian Svenonius and more. From full throttle rock tracks to haunting string pieces and propulsive instrumental grooves, these songs also mark a return to the rock world after Khan's adventurous and acclaimed pair of instrumental jazz/soul albums (2003's The Nature of Things and 2020's The Infinite Ones). A handful of these tracks have previously appeared on limited and now out of print 7"s during the filmmaking process, often in alternate versions, but this mark's the first time all of Khan's contributions to The Invaders will be available in one place (and many for the first time). On his musical contributions herein and the film in general Khan waxes: "The Mighty Hannibal taught me an amazing lesson about blindness. When the doctors told him that he would go blind if he didn't take his glaucoma meds he responded simply "Ugh, I've seen enough'"Hannibal then sent me a gospel song he wrote about how lucky he was to have gone blind because he could never judge anyone based on what they looked like - rather it was now by their actions. When he told this to me I decided to do the entire soundtrack "blind. This meant I made the music without seeing the images. Any beautiful synchronicities that would occur between the celluloid and my music would be magical. This simple approach made the film give me shivers upon seeing it completed, a feeling I rarely get these days from films let alone documentaries. I never got to thank Hannibal for his sage advice, but I feel like he guided me in so many ways that he is always above me watching what I do. He taught me to be a better father and husband and listener. Moving Music are proud to present next instalment in vintage Norwegian Soundtrack music. The youth movie “Operasjon Cobra” from
1978 is about a group of local terrorists trying to assassinate the US foreign minister on his visit Norway. The plans go wrong however as the plot is sabotaged by a group of youngsters living in Snarøya on the outskirts of Oslo.
The variety of Pete Knutsen’s music is funky jazz with the occasional dramatic mood and hint of disco, to coincide with the popular music of the times. Soundtrack feature and all-star cast of top Norwegian session players from the late seventies: Knut Riisnæs, Henry Lysiak, Thor Andreassen and Terje Methi. Played with strong array of musicianship and impressive use of instrumentation: moog, percussion, strings, breakbeats makes it a joyful listen throughout.
Soundtrack has never been released before and has undergone a new multitrack remaster by Timmion Records Finland.

Moving musis is out with it’s third Soundtrack release, the 1982 Norwegian cult feature “Carl Gustav, the Gang and the Parking Bandits” A teenage flick set in the outskirts of Bergen. A Band of black dressed greedy corporate thugs are converting all the playgrounds in the area to parking lots. This doesn’t fit well with the local youth, Carl Gustav and his friends finds all the clues, traces down the thugs and get their revenge at the castle finale.
Well respected Norwegian director Ola Solum again hired Pete Knutsen (see also Operasjon Cobra MM02 ost) and his bandmates from Popol Ace for the job to make the score. And the result is a brilliant small group funky rock outfit with plenty of open breaks, quirky instrumentation and interludes. Songs from the film includes vocal tracks by famous Norwegian pop artist Jahn Teigen and the punk group Alle Tiders Duster.
Never before released and remastered from multitrack tapes by Timmion Finland, this score is long overdue but finally available for the first time!

Augustus Muller and Jae Matthews’ fifth release entitled ‘The Runner (Original Soundtrack)’ is not a traditional album. Rather, it is the soundtrack to a short film, also entitled ‘The Runner’. The film, written, produced, and directed by the duo, is a searching horror film, attached to a meta-style “documentary” about Boy Harsher’s recording process. The album includes several distinct components: cinematic arrangements, vocal features, and of course classic Boy Harsher dark pop. Both the album and short film will be released in January 2022.

The album opens with “Tower”. The only track on ‘The Runner (Original Soundtrack)’ that Boy Harsher has previously played live, but never recorded. The song is an incantation, with its pulsing synth and Jae’s begging vocals. A spell about desire and impending destruction. Jae asks 'But are you honest? Do you trust? You trust in me?' Questions answered by her desperate yells. It starts both the film and the soundtrack with a heavy presence.

Two songs on ‘The Runner (Original Soundtrack)’ feature vocalists other than Jae Matthews. He allows a distinct sound for both vocalists and really leans into the possibility of divergent genres. “Machina”, is a Hi-nrg homage, performed by Mariana Saldaña of Boan, and “Autonomy” a new wave tribute, performed by Cooper B. Handy of Lucy. Augustus Muller fully embraces the soundtrack ethos, by creating fictional ‘bands’ to generate additional content.

‘The Runner (Original Soundtrack)’ is exactly what’s in the name: a soundtrack. At first the shape of the release was nebulous - yet once realized the album is dynamic. It serves as the story of the running figure and her musical accompaniment. Those expecting a traditional release will be surprised, but not disappointed.

Since its opening in spring 2021, Jubg, a still young Cologne gallery for contemporary art, has specialized in the broad field of artists and collaborations working along artistic interfaces, especially those between visual art and experimental and/or electronic music. For example, Jubg has already hosted exhibitions by Markus Oehlen, Kim Gordon, Wolfgang Voigt, Matthias and Aksel "Superpitcher" Schaufler, Sven-Åke Johansson, and Emil Schult. Albert Oehlen, who is a kind of mentor and supporter of the gallery, was also a guest at Albertusstraße this summer, where he presented the exhibition D-i-e Orpheusmaschine together with Michael Wertmüller, Thomas Stammer and the poet Rainald Goetz.

It is only logical that the gallery now expands its sphere of activity to include its own label, on which music appears that comes from similar contexts as the artists listed above already suggest.

As catalog number 1, Jubg is now releasing the official soundtrack to "The Painter" from 2021. The film, German title "Der Maler", is a mixture of feature film and documentary and a collaboration between German director Oliver Hirschbiegel, best known for his Oscar-nominated film "Downfall", and Albert Oehlen, with whom Hirschbiegel has a long friendship, as they both once studied together at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste in Hamburg.

The docu-fiction shows Oehlen struggling with a painting and pondering the meaning of his work. Oehlen is played by German actor and musician Ben Becker, accompanied by the off-screen voice of Charlotte Rampling. In the film, Becker makes a painting that Oehlen himself creates step by step behind the camera, while the actor improvises the process in front of the camera.

The wonderful music for this film comes from no less than two outstanding personalities whose individual biographies and musical signatures could hardly be better suited to this project. On the A-side it is Gudrun Gut, icon not only of the German electronic music scene since at least the 90's, singer, composer, DJ, label owner (Monika Enterprise) and of course founding member of the legendary 80's New Wave band Malaria. On the B-side it’s the world famous and award winning US avant-garde trumpeter and improvisational musician Nathan "Nate" Wooley, who has played with Fred Frith and John Zorn among others.

Gudrun Gut's tracks bear such beautiful titles as "Bewegung", "Küste" or "Weinen" and she once again pulls out all the stops of her great skills and decades of experience as a producer of the most diverse electronic music genres. These are unusual and much more experimental musical paintings that she creates here than on her recent solo works. Edgy, angular, raw and unpolished, yet always elegant and clever, she subverts the male artist madness depicted extensively in the film in her own unique way.

Nathan Wooley answers with the instrument he has been familiar with since childhood, the trumpet, with which he is able to create a ravishingly virtuosic noise. His pieces are more like sketches, often only 90 seconds or a few minutes long, but in all their abstractness underpin the narrative of the film almost perfectly.

It was also filmed on Universal Studio’s lot, using several props from other horror films of that time. Starring Madge Bellamy, Robert W. Frazer, and John Harron, the film follows the cast as they navigate zombies, love, obsession, and treachery. Initially slammed by critics upon its release, the movie has been reevaluated and praised by recent critics for its classic horror production. The film has gone on to influence mainstream media, even influencing the band name of White Zombie. Rob Zombie has said of the film, “It’s a great film that not a lot of people know about. It amazes me that a film that is so readily available can be so lost.”
