Formerly known as frontman, lyricist, and co-founder of the Norwegian party-rockers Kvelertak, Erlend Hjelvik parted ways with his bandmates in 2018 and has spent the last two years biding his time and plotting a return to action. Today, he is a rejuvenated and newly inspired metal warrior, primed and ready to launch his own solo band, HJELVIK, and their thunderous and life-affirming debut album, Welcome to Hel.

Hexandagger is a heavy project band featuring Brad Davis (bassist for Fu Manchu) on drums, Emily Burton (Fireball Ministry): guitars/vocals, Helen Storer (Fireball Ministry/ ex Fluffy): lead vocals/bass and Per Wiberg (Opeth, Spiritual Beggars, Grand Magus etc) Keyboards. As long-time mutual friends they formed in the summer 2018 and jammed solidly throughout the ensuing winter months. Degenerate nihilistic punk commando Puro Odio seal an unholy pact with Sentient Ruin to reissue their incendiary 2018 debut demo on 10" vinyl, making it available for the first time ever on analog physical formats in North America. On the verminous and heinous demo the Basque raw punk terrorists first came together as a rogue entity of total barbarism and inhumanity, glorifying cruelty, violence and sadism at their most gratuitous and senseless stages through six primordial stabs of complete hatred and perversion. Firmly rooted in the proudest and fiercest tradition of raw punk and hardcore, Oi!, crust and d-beat, what sets Puro Odio apart from their far less controversial and harmless peers is their unique and sophisticated visual aesthetic and their meticulous yet unsettling sound blending nefarious black metal-like vocals, violent lyrics, barbaric d-beats and a meat grinder of unrelenting chainsawing guitars - a proud exercise in sonic atavism that has yielded a blood-drenched hardcore punk twilight of total darkness and bestiality. With an overall sound reminiscent of celebrated punk/metal plunderers like Gism, Bone Awl, Hellhammer, Von, Gag, and Glue, the eleven-minute demo has established Puro Odio as an unforgiving beacon of violence and immorality within underground punk and as a perverted sonic exaltation of humanity's most negative and repulsive traits.

Stuff like "Crimson Red", "An Eye For An Eye", "Evil Hammer" etc would easily put to shame 90% of today's releases and this is really impressive given that all those songs never made it to an official Gargoyle release.

Golgotha is the sixth studio album by Bleeding Eyes. After Gammy (©2014 Go Down Records) the band embarked on a different stylistic and compositional path. Starting from long and substantial jams, the five-piece band extrapolated and deepened 7 tracks lasting almost 50 minutes. The influences are getting darker. Black on black. The esoteric doom mixed with the tipically sludgy attitude, give to their personal existential ordeal a picture in which Simone Tesser’s lyrics fit perfectly. Golgotha’s topics tell about saints and unbelievers, the latter ones in constant conflict with life and death. This new interpretation, that also takes inspiration from the heretic gospels of the apocalypse (first 2 tracks), represents the steady and never ending spiritual detachment, that our capitalist society has lived in for several decades. With mocking irony and lots of sarcasm a post-dogmatic dark way is proposed by the band to deal with the ordeal of everyday life. The studio recording process lasted several months and was handled by Jason Nealy and Marco Dussin (guitarist and bassist respectively). Drums and rhythm guitars were recorded at the music club Benicio Live Gigs, located in the suggestive woods of the Montello hill in Italy. While the final steps, mixing and mastering took place at BadRum studio in Asolo, Italy. Golgotha has a really deep and dense meaning for the band and the graphic part plays an important role too; that’s why the Bleeding Eyes has chosen the Lorenzo Ferraro’s photography. The album artwork consists in pictures taken right after the passage of the devastating storm Vaia, that heavily damaged the band’s hometown surroundings. The desolation post Vaia matches perfectly with Golgotha’s magmatic darkness. The event proved our disarming weakness in front of an untamed force of nature, that can unleash destroying powers yet unknown. The album title itself is therefore -calvario- the combination of a natural imagery that reveals the misery of the precarious human condition.

Escumergamënt is the latest addition to the Avantgarde Music roster, a newborn band hiding long-standing musicians from the Swedish black metal scene, with an essential, old-school approach. We may dwell on pretentious descriptions trying to explain why their debut . . . ni degu fazentz escumergamënt e mesorga; is worth your time, but we thought it best to let the band speak for themselves.

TO THE DOG’s self-titled debut EP. A whirlwind of crust metal dirtiness from the North Americas. Hailing from the frozen wastes of Wisconsin, TO THE Dogs are a juggernaut of classic crust. The power-trio made their public debut in December 2020 with a digitally-released three-song demo, which is now being released as their debut EP and thusly titled To the Dogs. Charging hard, charging free, TO THE Dogs have Motorcharge on lock, but also nod to classic blackthrash (think early Aura Noir) and the punkiest speed metal (think classic Warfare). Theirs is a sound that's unapologetically old-style, but refreshingly honest in its approach - not to mention addicting! Indeed, across the nine short/sharp/shocked minutes of To the Dogs, TO THE Dogs roam the post-apocalyptic wasteland on motorcycles made exclusively of spikes and chains, and then proceed to burn through that wasteland and get the fuck out. Hailing from Norrköping, Sweden, Wanton Attack is a new heavy metal force to be reckoned with. The duo, consisting of traditional metal enthusiasts Micael Zetterberg (vocals, drums) and Niklas Holm (guitars, bass), formed in 2019 and is now ready to unleash their self-titled debut album of Arcane Metal upon the world.

Lys is the mastermind of Enisum, the well-known Italian atmospheric black metal band. After focusing on his main band for over a decade, the time came for the musician from Val di Susa to temporarily focus on something different. Here comes Silent Woods, Lys first solo album, a mélange of atmospheric black metal, acoustic music, nature, landscapes, mountains,rivers and forests.

Sgàile is the solo project of Scottish multi-instrumentalist Tony Dunn, a venture that was a long time in the making due to Dunn’s commitments with other bands such as Falloch, Cnoc An Tursa and Saor. “For almost a decade, I had concentrated on playing other people's songs, singing other people's lyrics, and not feeling that I had an identity of my own. The name Sgàile means "ghost" or "shade" in Gaelic, and this was born from the fact that I didn't quite "fit in" with the Scottish Black Metal scene that these bands were an integral part of”.

During the height of the worldwide apocalyptic dystopia of 2020, Abysmal Dawn persevered and released one of the greatest albums of their career, ‘Phylogenesis.’ Now, technical death metal icons are picking up where they left off and unleashing a solid four-song EP! The sampler includes an original track, a newly rerecorded version of the 2006 demo “Blacken the Sky,” and two epic cover songs that showcase the band’s musical versatility and limitless talent.

Thanatopsis (a Greek word meaning “Meditation Upon Death”) was formed towards the beginning of 1992 in the San Francisco Bay Area, producing several demo tapes and touring the surrounding area. After a long hiatus, the band regrouped in 2015 and decided to create new material, giving some of the timeless songs from the past the chance that they deserved. The resulting output is eight songs that take the listener on a emotionally twisted ride of violent, catchy, thrashy death metal. These are timeless songs reminiscent of the days when bands had their own distinctive sound while also maintaining a modern edge. ‘Initiation’ contains eight songs that take the listener on an emotionally twisted ride of violent catchy death metal. With themes that include corruption, occultism, murder, revolt, and loss of faith, Thanatopsis have delivered an album that keeps the listener engaged from start to finish, wth a sound unlike any other.

Gloson release their long-awaited second full-length album The Rift! The album features a Hexalogy of songs inspired by humanity in its worst and purest form and is an attempt to pursue the meaning of it all and to foreshadow our demise through it. A gloomy, primal and intense sophomore album The Rift was born.. Isolated in the middle of nowhere, Gloson recorded this album right before the Covid-19 hell broke loose and for the first time, allowed someone else to be in charge of the recording process, to put all their energy on being purely creative and productive whilst in the studio. “It was a very liberating feeling”, Gloson comments, who previously carried out almost everything related to production themselves.

Charlatans took its beginning back in 2019 when Mattias Svensson gave Jens Broman a call. Jens Broman hadn't been working with music to any major extent since 2010 when he left Darkane. Since the release of the album, Anomaly, back in 2006, The Defaced had slowly started to dissolve during 2007-2008 and was finally set on pause indefinitely in late 2008. Mattias explained on the phone that he had written a bunch of songs that he wanted Jens to listen to. The intention was to start up The Defaced again. Jens loved the songs immediately and slowly during 2019 Mattias and Jens started to set up a work process for continuing working on the songs. – It all came very naturally, just like in the old days, says Jens. Klas Ideberg shared the same thoughts and ambitions and after recruiting new drummer Bob Ruben a new start of the band was on the table. All instruments were recorded in Helsingborg at the Mansarda studios, produced by Klas and Mattias. Vocals were recorded and produced by Jens and Björn Strid at Studio Björngrottan, in Tyreså Autumn 2020. Mixing and mastering by Lawrence Mackory, At Obey Mastering, in Uppsala. December 2020. As with so many artists much of the inspiration for this record, lyrically came from a large extent from the pandemic. Not as such but its creativity came as an involuntary pause from the wound-up stressed world. The songs cover themes such as struggles with relationships, self-doubt and eager frustration and a feeling that everything is already too late to change. Charlatans is an album that encompasses the sound of the earlier albums but given the addition of a more prominent progressive touch. The songs aim to give the listener an even greater sonic adventure than the previous records. Still, most of the heritage from old metal giants is ever so present, blended together with classic songwriting with a twist towards progressive soundscapes.

AN Isle ATE HER don’t have the typical story that most bands in metal music do. They were an artistic mathematical monster that took over Atlanta, Georgia in the early 2000’s, but it’s members had taken some very unexpected turns in artistic direction as solo artists after they disbanded. Absolutely manic breakneck tech grindcore that was as mind-bending to listen to as it was to see live. Formed initially in July 2007, Vocalist Chaz Bell, guitarist Collin Hutchinson, drummer Matt Cooper, and various other members performed under various names, playing countless shows and tours while constantly building their musical skills.

Brand new recordings from two of the heavy rock underground’s most vital acts: "Chain Yourself" sees Wytch Hazel deliver a blistering slice of classic early eighties style heavy metal complete with 16’s on the "disco hats" and hooks that will lodge in your cranium from first hearing, while Spell’s “New World” is a riveting take on Strawbs’ gothic folk masterpiece. Out of the smoke of the pandemic, Intoxicated return with a renewed energy in the form of their debut full length, Watch You Burn. Recorded at Morbid Angel's old rehearsal studio in Tampa that Intoxicated literally rehabbed and converted into a state-of-the-art studio for renown producer, Ryan Boesch (Foo Fighters, Whores, Helmet, Melvins, Andrew WK), now known as Candor Recording, Watch You Burn is a product of a band on a mission who's Florida roots are worn proudly on their sleeves. While you can hear traces of Obituary, Massacre, and Chuck Schuldiner sprinkled all over the album, Intoxicated offer much more than shades of death. There is a heavy crossover vibe present ala D.R.I. or early C.O.C., as well as some Skate Punk /Thrash like the early Venice Beach bands. In addition, there are moments you'll swear you heard a Matt Pike riff or something out of the Nola playbook. Intoxicated took little time off during the pandemic, adding a new guitarist, John Sutton, who is no stranger to the Florida metal scene having spent time with 90's act Pain Principle. In the last 6 months alone, Intoxicated have supported Obituary, Massacre, Nasty Savage, Gruesome, D.R.I., The Casualties, Inhuman Condition and High Reeper. With Andrew WK's disappearance leaving Erik Payne and Gregg Roberts to their own devices, Intoxicated have certainly taken a front seat and there is no sign of slowing down - the band have the pedal to the floor and plan to be out supporting the album all Summer. Where does reality end and where does it begin? And who, or what, decides this? Multinational experimental black metal enigma 夢遊病者 re-propose this question to us via their masterful fourth album Skopofoboexoskelett, an enigmatic and playfully formulaic quandary of deconstructed visionary counter-music reminding us a simple concept: that reality is dictated by perception, and as such, by manipulating perception (via the arts), any reality is not only possible but also valid. And as is always the tradition with 夢遊病者, music is the alchemical key via which questions are raised and answers are found in the labyrinth of history, culture, lore and world traditions. In the case of Skopofoboexoskelett, an exploration of the notions of self-reflection, intuition, phobia, luck, and failure in the context of the evil eye, its historical, cultural, physical and metaphysical meanings, as well as its psychological effects, carefully unraveled and revealed. Within this paradigm Skopofoboexoskelett takes 夢遊病者's vision, agenda, and intents, further than ever before, with musical boundaries shattered, definitions pulverized, genres, styles and aesthetics ridiculed into a masterful sensorial manipulation which draws the listener into the deceptive and subversive absurdity that is their own perception being stimulated in unprecedented ways. Drawing their own line and dictating the guidelines of music's end as we know it, Sleepwalker use their unique sonic idealizations made of lysergic black metal excoriations, kraut, psych, noise rock, world music, improvised deconstructionism and schizoid free jazz to transcend conscience and reason, devastate the senses (particularly the auditory one) and open the mind unto a new plane of perception of which the only logic is illogicality, as only true and unquestionable experimental arts dictate and demand.

Dutch experimental raw death metal absurdity Cryptae return with their second full-length deformity, Capsule, their most aberrant, delirious and labyrinthine (master)piece of anti-music yet. Conceived through a deconstructed and radicalized approach of "less is more", this new chapter of conceptualized insanity sees the deranged duo of drummer/vocalist Rene Aquarius and guitarist/bassist Kees Peerdeman starve and disassemble death metal from within, as they explore a cryptic concept revolving around marine life and its abysses teeming with absurd and marvelous life forms. The staple high contrast minimalist/maximalist experimental approach of Cryptae in deteriorating the familiar fabric of death metal and finding new and insane ways to dismount and reassemble the genre through delirious aural experiments, this time reaches truly extraordinary and implausible new dimensions of the absurd. Entire strings of death metal's DNA are removed and replaced with components from other genres in a deranged and playful act of stylistic disfiguration, yielding deformities unending and essentially crippling the genre into an incomprehensible, skeletal mutation. A violently malformed and enigmatic abstraction arises from this delusion, through the forced abortion and abolition of all musical canons and decency, triggering a marvelous rebirth through conceptual annihilation and spasmodic nonconformity which is set to challenge and destabilize our perception of extreme metal at the deepest levels. A glitched and distorted sonic fractal of demented improvisation drives Cryptae's crippled and deconstructed raw death metal experiment, as primitive raw (post)-punk, repetitive and bludgeoning industrial, schizoid no-wave, and jazz-derived free-form backward moving meters and compositional oddities all do their part in completing a musical jigsaw of rare genius and hideous inventiveness.

Released only a handful of months following the band’s breakthrough debut EP, Remove Your Skin Please signaled that whatever Chat Pile was doing wasn't just a one-off novelty of Midwest metal nihilism. While the band’s foundational sound of caustic and cacophonous noise rock crystallized with its debut, the release of Remove Your Skin Please signposted the vast extent to which Chat Pile could stylistically tinker and conceptually iterate atop it. Heard in the gothy post-punk dirge of “Mask” and the dissonant extreme metal fervor of “Davis'', the more experimental ideas present on Remove Your Skin Please come off less like a selection of the band’s conceptual prototypes and more like fully realized reflections of its member's own tastes and preferences. That doesn’t mean Chat Pile’s noise rock foundation is diluted in the slightest as EP bookends “Dallas Beltway” and “Garbage Man” push its twisted take on the genre to new aural extremes in its instrumentation and subject matter spanning grisly serial murders to the slow festering death of the environment at the hands of mankind. For as ugly and unhinged as Chat Pile’s tales of 21st-century American dread are, Remove Your Skin Please asserts something that is somehow subtly even more terrifying: If a quartet of otherwise ordinary Okies can convey such apocalyptically bleak yet resonate messages in its music, that may mean we feel that same nihilism, too.

In the summer of 2019, a newly formed, Oklahoma City-based rock band called Chat Pile would release its debut four-track EP, This Dungeon Earth. Little did anyone know at the time, but this initial taste of grotesque, confronting, and visceral noise rock courtesy of four slacker Okies would kick off the story of what would soon be one of the most widely lauded underground acts in years. Like the towering mounds of toxic waste from which it gets its namesake, Chat Pile’s body of work is emblematic of a distinctly midwestern flavor of American dread, with This Dungeon Earth being no exception to the rule. While raw in presentation, Chat Pile’s debut EP comes across as anything but a rough draft. Much of the band’s hallmark traits, spanning the unhinged vocals of frontman Raygun Busch, the grotesquely contorted guitar riffage, and the industrial smack of heavily processed percussion, appear as far back as this earliest chapter. If anything, the raw, DIY-rooted origins of these uncompromising thirteen minutes of sludged-out carnage make This Dungeon Earth all the more impactful. Between its biting social commentary and gratuitous grindhouse insanity, the unfiltered brutality of Chat Pile’s debut recording has seen tracks like “Rainbow Meat”, “Face”, and “Ratboy” become mainstays in its notorious live shows. Although it depicts the band’s monstrous amalgamation of noise rock, sludge metal, hardcore, and more as it is just beginning to congeal, This Dungeon Earth comes off as the furthest thing from a simple intro and more of an essential first chapter in Chat Pile’s story.

Nervesaw' is the first EP by American band Transilience, and the comeback release after many years of absencefrom the scene. Transilience were originally formed in 1988, in Reston, Virginia, and their debut album 'Mouthful OfBuildings' was released in 1989. Their very particular brand of thrash metal was hailed at the time as innovative andoriginal, and that record remains a fresh listen to this day. Transilience disbanded soon after, and frontman Spookyembarked on a solo career under the name Spookey Ruben. As of 2019, Transilience returned to activity withbassist Jerry Barrett and drummer Omar Ruiz joining Spooky in the lineup. In 2023, the band signed for AloneRecords and announced 'Nervesaw', their comeback EP, featuring the unmistakable Transilience style but updatedand reinvigorated for a new age. Nervesaw' is the first EP by American band Transilience, and the comeback release after many years of absencefrom the scene. Transilience were originally formed in 1988, in Reston, Virginia, and their debut album 'Mouthful OfBuildings' was released in 1989. Their very particular brand of thrash metal was hailed at the time as innovative andoriginal, and that record remains a fresh listen to this day. Transilience disbanded soon after, and frontman Spookyembarked on a solo career under the name Spookey Ruben. As of 2019, Transilience returned to activity withbassist Jerry Barrett and drummer Omar Ruiz joining Spooky in the lineup. In 2023, the band signed for AloneRecords and announced 'Nervesaw', their comeback EP, featuring the unmistakable Transilience style but updatedand reinvigorated for a new age. It's almost like they never left.

After two successful runs on tape, Human Worth have made the right call and put this mini album on vinyl. The Leeds duo rage through six tracks of caustic sludge and doom to deliver a incredible EP that channels their energy and the anger felt by current events.
