Descending into abyssal terrain akin to the twin dark chambers of 2022's first instalment "Disharmonium - Undreamable Abysses" and companion-piece-of-sorts compilation "Lovecraftian Echoes", this latest emanation is similarly womb-like, detail-rich, disturbed and transformative.

Musically influenced only by the band’s own extensive oeuvre, in comparison with BAN's recent Lovecraftian explorations "Nahab" has an increased presence of deranged vocal mania, the eerie dynamics are more fully realised, the band's unmistakeable melodic power amplified, the guitars - lower slung for extra resonance - flow in tandem with splendidly lurching grooves like some Stygian wooze-tsunami.

In the dead-eyed trance of one demonically summoned, Blut AUS Nord have once again channelled esoteric folklore and modern violence into another phenomenal slice of outsider art which befits their own Mythos and monstrosity. A Crowning Horror indeed.

Reflections from an unseen world is the 4th album by Blue Dawn, Genoa’s finest Occult band and their best to date. The album is the first to feature guitar & keyboards player Davide Bruzzi (Il Segno del Comando), who played on tributes to Blue Oyster Cult and Death SS, but this is the first full length album in which he plays, since he joined the band in 2017, shortly after the release of their previous record. His work distinguishes the sound of the album, witch ranges from Heavy Doom to more progressive tracks, embellished by Bruzzi s keyboard touches and flamboyant yet emotional solos, on songs built on powerful and dark riffs created by Andrea Martino(guitar) and Enrico Lanciaprima(bass/vocals), punctuated by the solid drumming of Andrea Di Martino and valued by the gothic voice of singer Monica Santo. The album features some important special guests too: italian underground legend Mercy (Malombra, Il Segno del Comando/Ianva), who sings on the track “Shades”, James M. Jason(Gothic) who sings and plays piano on “Hostage of grudge” and the fabulous cover of Black Sabbath’s “Who are you” and multi instrumentalist Fulvio Pereda, who plays Mellotron and tablas on “Shades”. Blue Dawn’ s big personality is all over the record, giving us a heavy, yet varied, sound as the band is known for, but more focused and homogenous than before. An albun not to be missed, by everybody who loves classic Sabbath, but also more modern bands like Tool, Triptykon and Il Segno del Comando.

Gargantuan volcanoes erupting with primal force, fountains of molten lava bursting sky high and massive boulders hurtling capriciously through the air. These potent and violently alluring images in the documentary series The Living Planet captivated Raoul Björkenheim's imagination in 1986. The search for a band name had come to an end.

-”I was mesmerised. The name Krakatau sounded like a drum fill to me”.

After studying at the Helsinki Conservatory for a year and the Berklee College of Music in Boston for three, Björkenheim relocated to Finland where he played in bands with Jone Takamäki, Antti Hytti and Tom Nekljudow, and later went on to work with composer and drummer Edward “Eetu” Vesala (1945-1999). His always original and highly demanding Sound & Fury workshops were a pivotal hotbed in the local improvised music scene, but after four years of Vesala's strict leadership Björkenheim felt a need to leave Sound & Fury behind and direct all of his attention towards Krakatau.

The lineup on the first album “Ritual” consisted of reed virtuosos Jorma Tapio and Tapani Rinne, the bassist Sampo Lassila and two drummers, Michel Lambert and Heikki “Lefty” Lehto. “Krakatau’s debut album was very challenging to make, as I felt that it might be my one and only chance to record my own music, so I wanted it to be as intense and effective as possible”, says Björkenheim, “I was lucky enough to work with an incredibly talented cast of musicians. I can still listen to the album and feel satisfied that it really works. The first guitar solo illustrates what was to become my modus operandi: to try and play the electric guitar in unexpected ways.”

Svart Records will release an expanded double LP version of Krakatau’s Ritual. Limited to 500 copies and due out on March 24th, the album contains an album’s worth of previously unheard material recorded in 1987 in Studio Helsinki and at the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation studio.

Recorded in 1975 this is the ideal following of Jacula's Tardo Pede in Magiam Versus. Fiamma Dallo Spirito was the Lead Vocalist of the Jacula album and Federico Bergamini wrote most of the music.. Bergamini and Fiamma, together with some guest musicians, recorded "Sabba" in 1975 which remained hidden for almost 50 years. Damnation, Mystery, Magic are the main themes of this concept album where the human being gets lost in the black hole of damnation searching desperately for salvation. The story should be written again...Sabba will be released on 14th of November, 2022 exactly after 47 years from the date of the original tape.

On The Healer, the new full length from the Northwest-based trio of guitarist and vocalist Aaron Turner (ISIS, Old Man Gloom) bassist Brian Cook (Russian Circles, Botch) and drummer Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists) the group deepens its multi-faceted exploration into the parallel experiences of creation and destruction. Over the course of 4 tracks in 76 minutes, SUMAC present a sequence of shifting movements which undergo a constant process of expansion, contraction, corruption and regrowth.This musical methodology reflects the thematic nature of the record - narratives of experiential wounding as gateways to empowerment and evolution, both individual and collective. The group"s interpolation of melody, drone, improvisation, and complex riffing becomes a transmogrifying act embodying the depth of human experience. In its highest aspiration it mirrors our ability to endure mortal and spiritual challenges, through which we may emerge with an increased capacity for understanding, empathy, love of self and others. Dismal though the subterranean pits of The Healer may at first appear, from them can be felt the unwavering determination to embrace life, acknowledge interdependence, and honor the gift of existence.

Hypermagic Mountain, Lightning Bolt's 4th album has been unavailable for nearly a decade since it's 2005 release. Back as a double LP including a full drawing by Brian Chippendale as the D side Etching! The package includes a large scale 4-page book (previous pressings included a cd size book). Recorded at Machines with Magnets and Lightning Bolt's home by Dave Auchenbach. Lightning Bolt play with abandon that is unmatched and remarkably undiluted and this album is just one more example of that raw power and sound.
They are often called one of the loudest rock outfits in existence, both on record and on (or famously, off) the stage. Brian Gibson creates sounds that are unexpected and remarkably varied with his virtuosic bass playing and his inventive approach to the instrument, centered around melody rather than rhythm. Helter Skelter Productions (distributed & marketed by Regain Records) announces a partnership with cult kings Beastmaker for an extensive reissue campaign of the band's many (and crucial) EP releases. In lieu of this announcement, Beastmaker also confirm that they have returned from their self-imposed hiatus and will be recording new music and playing shows again - as always, on their own terms.Formed in 2014, Beastmaker began with a flurry of activity and only intensified that activity over the next five years. Following two demos and an EP, the power-trio then released two albums - Lusus Naturae (2016) and Inside the Skull (2017) - through Lee Dorrian's esteemed Rise Above Records. Naturally, that pairing proved fruitful, for Beastmaker were indeed cut from a doomed cloth, but Beastmaker founder Trevor Church (who'd soon form the equally prolific Haunt) showed he had so much more to his vision than sticking within scene boundaries. Thereafter, between 2017 and 2019, the band released a staggering 11 EPs before breaking up, with another EP - Body and Soul - released posthumously in 2020.Now, longtime fans Helter Skelter Productions step forward to reissue this goldmine of Beastmaker godliness. The reissue campaign will include Body and Soul joined with the bonus material on the Who Is This? compilation, thereby making it a full-length, and which will be released on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats. Then, EP. 1 and EP. 2 will be joined together on CD and tape formats, followed by the pairings of EP. 3 and EP. 4, EP. 5 and EP. 6, EP. 7 and EP. 8, and finally EP. 9 and EP. 10: thus, full-length releases for all, and each on vinyl and tape formats. All ten of these EPs will also be available on a special 5xCD boxset. This reissue campaign is tentatively slated to start in April and then conclude by November; release dates and preorder info to be revealed in time.A statement from Church reads as follows: "I'm very excited to announce that the EP collection from Beastmaker will see a new pressing from Helter Skelter / Regain Records. This collection of work shows the artistic vision of horror I had writing in my home studio during 2015-2018. Unrepentantly flying the flag for Classic British Metal since the release of their 1981 “Blitzkrieg/Buried Alive” demo, Blitzkrieg were a pivotal influence on countless heavy metal bands for decades to come: most notably, Metallica, who released a cover of the band’s eponymous track “Blitzkrieg”, both on “Garage Inc” compilation album, and as a B-side on their 1984 single “Creeping Death”. The ten year anniversary of Chaos Echœs' first ever release, celebrated as a limited edition vinyl reissue with enhanced artwork to homage and consecrate the origin of an unforgettable legacy that will never fade our memory's reach. With 2012's "Tone of Things to Come" Chaos Echœs instantly established themselves as the very future of underground extreme metal, elaborating a formula rooted in arcane sepulchral dark death metal characterized by lengthy instrumentals and innovative detours deep into remote areas of history, art, culture and lore that would dictate the rhythm and tempo of a staggering metamorphosis of ascension. Still rooted in the legacy of Incantation, Morbid Angel, and Immolation, at its inception "Tone of Things to Come" had however already revealed widespread mutations in the fabric of conventional extreme metal and opened the eye of transformation, with its omniscient glare gazing through a spectral veil concealing abhorrent forms of ritualism and exploration within it.
