Kitchen is the first aural glimpse into the Vespertine project, a collaborative concept wherein the entirety of Chef Jordan Kahn’s new Culver City restaurant has been custom-scored by Los Angeles’ own This Will Destroy YOU. One of seven pieces written for the building itself (and even the space around it), Kitchen is the music that diners first hear as they are greeted by Chef Kahn before dinner service begins for the evening. In composing the music for this interaction, This Will Destroy YOU’s Chris King and Jeremy Galindo sought to convey a warm, hospitable – if not reassuring – tone for listeners that may (or may not) be present elsewhere as they discover and explore the spaces in and around Vespertine’s looming architectural monolith for the remainder of their stay.

Raw Power was formed in 1981 by two brothers from Poviglio, Italy, Mauro on vocals and Giuseppe on guitars. Land of the Rising Spaghetti commemorates their 40th Anniversary release and their pre-Covid 19 tour of Japan with the Ananas opening. The line-up for Raw Power's side of the record includes Mauro Codeluppi on vocals, Marco Massarenti on bass, Paolo on guitars, Berta on drums and Giuseppe in spirit. Sadly, Giuseppe left the planet on October 6th, 2002 but his guitar can still be heard screaming from the gutters. He was with Raw Power for slightly over a quarter of a century and is the driving force between Mauro's desire to keep the band functioning until he too passes on. Executive producer, David Ulysses Portnow first saw Raw Power in 1986 at the Gorilla Gardens all-ages club where he worked until its closure. "Funny thing about that night, the opening band was Guns & Roses," he recalls. In 1987, Raw Power returned to the US and headlined a massive US and Canadian tour with the Dayglo Abortions and Dehumanizers in tow. Raw Power have also performed with the Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Adolescents, DOA, Agnostic Front, Suicidal Tendencies, Motorhead and a list of heavy hitters that goes on and on, including Japan's female fronted Ananas. PIG Records was searching for more female representation in punk and found it with the Ananas. PIG Records wants to emphasize the importance of women in rock. Mauro gave his full support to the concept and describes front lady Karina Friday as the modern-day version of Mr. Chi Pig from Snfu, may his soul rest in peace as well. The Ananas are from Kyoto, Japan and Karina is supported by Junichi on guitars, Awaji on bass and Kazu on drums.

Steamrolling and rumbling death metal. Drawing influence from Florida, Sweden, and their heritage, Bloodphemy distinguish themselves with aggressive death metal mixing modern and classic styles. This is particularly true in their fourth studio album, “Blood Sacrifice”, the first to be released after the Dutchmen signed a record deal with Emanzipation. Cavernous deep roaring vocals, heavy slow crawling dirges and up-tempo psychotic slaughtering providing heavy listening that hits you in the chest and to bang your skull heavy! The album is aptly led by a great concept: During the 1800’s, in a rural area of the US, a priest leads the congregation of a small village. He is obsessed by the sins of the people around him. He is convinced he has direct conversations with god and this drives him to see the actions of his own family as sinful. In visions he sees the destruction of heaven and the victory of the forces of hell if he lets the sinning go on. With this in mind he decides to end the sins by killing his own family. In the end he ends up in an insane asylum surrounded by only sinners and driven completely mad. Bloodphemy was created in 2000 and is based in Amersfoort, Netherlands. In 2002 they released the album “Section 8”. Shortly after they disbanded, only to be revived in 2015. Since then they released the EP “Blood Will Tell” (2016) and the albums “Bloodline” (2017) and “In Cold Blood” (2019). Dormant for nearly a third of a century, originally formed in 1982 by (then) bassist Damian Thompson & drummer Andy Baker (joined by Freaky Freeman on vox & Anarchy Mole on guitar).Warwound spat & cursed out three demos of 'fast, no bullshit, hardcore punk' through late 82/early 83.Heavily influenced by the sounds of the time (Discharge, Crass, Rudimentary Peni, Motorhead, Bad Brains etc) the band played a handful of gigs around the midlands area of the U.K. before in the autumn of 1983 Damian & Andy were enlisted to join the Varukers. Warwound as it was, ceased to be. During their time in the Varukers, the pair recorded two Warwound numbers which were to be featured on the classic Varukers album 'Another Religion, Another War'. Since that time some thirty years ago, the original Warwound demo tapes have been copied and circulated many times through underground circles of D-beat noise enthusiasts. The emergence of Sacrilege in 1984 also added to keep interest alive in the old Warwound material. These hugely influential recordings (25 tracks, 15 songs in various versions) are made commercially available for the first time, and with a brand new version of the band (featuring original member Damian Thompson alongside past and present members of Varukers, Discharge, Stamping Ground, Decadence Within , Sacrilege and others)

Two raw and unmixed songs from Wind’s Poem were transferred from the original analog tape masters into the ProTools HDX system at Owl Lodge. The studio is situated in the woods near Olympia, WA and is the headquarters of Wolves in the Throne Room. A single vocal track from “Lost Wisdom" was layered with newly recorded digital synths and a heavy bass from a vintage Korg MS-20. Wisps of the original organ and guitar appear in a heavily processed form. “Mouth of Sky” was created using techniques inspired by Lee Perry. In this case, the original tracks were routed to a variety of analog and digital FX units via the faders on the studio’s Harrison PP1 console. The mix was performed in real time.

Described as “Stevie Nicks fronting Black Sabbath,” singer Sara’s colossal voice omnipotently carries the listener on an emotional rollercoaster ride where the sonic cauldron of Iommi guitars gives way to Arabian oudh and progressive solos in a masterful style-clash that well befits Messa’s incendiary reputation.

The hushed Fender Rhodes piano intro on opener “Suspended,” picks up where Messa left off on their previous album “Feast For Water” but then collapses gloriously into Jazz guitar and widescreen impassioned crushing riffs, lighting our way for the odyssey ahead. The scene is set magnificently for the journey that “Close” expertly takes the listener on, with Messa’s obvious care and passion for the album as a pilgrimage of sonic experience. Heavyweight tracks like “If You Want Her To Be Taken” or “0=2” are modern Doom Rock classics that expertly upgrade and leave the genre reeling in their wake. “Pilgrim” and “Orphalese” are woven with tapestries of Mediterranean sounds where oudh and eastern chord phrasings expand Messa’s cinematic palette with a panache that is all their own. Atmospheric and grandiose belters like “Rubedo” and “Dark Horse” build into an almost limitless climax of discord and harmony where blast beats and saxophones descend into a thrilling cacophony that’s a masterclass in artful cutting edge Doom.

Referencing bands like Dead Can Dance, Swans and Om, Messa have created an album where song, experience and atmosphere are focused into a crystalline modus where high art flawlessly embraces good old fashioned riff-worship. Transcending the occult and noir-tinted atmospheres of their past works, “Close” confidently weaves Messa’s multifarious influences into a singular breath-taking sound that leaves the listener enthralled. Perfection or something extremely close, Messa’s “Close” is not just a Metal record, but it’s definitely one of the best things to break out of the confines of Metal in a long time.

With lyrics that depict the apocalyptic, and desolate nature of denomination, Tardus Mortem take the listener into a bleak and dismal existence depicting human and godly atrocities, in the form of Jehovah witness apocalyptic prophecies. This is the essence of Tardus Mortem’s debut album. The band dives down even further into the abyss of cacophony to create sepulchral hymns of desolation and the most desolate and apocalyptic record possible. “Engulfed in Pestilent Darkness” was originally released in a limited cassette tape edition in 2019 and quickly spread into the underground like the foulest fumes. Now, the cult gets a new chapter by being released on very limited LP (only 100 copies). Tardus Mortem is a Blackened-Death metal band from funen Denmark, which sole purpose is suffocating the listener in ominous tales of Christ and providence by using their instruments to create morbid melodies enchanting the impending Armageddon. The band consists of Dennis Strømberg, age 20 (ex-Black Tritonus ex-Human Mutilation, Apocalyptic Frost, Rancid Pus) on drums and vocals, Lasse Usbeck Andresen, age 22 (ex-Ilumize, ex-Human Mutilation) on guitar and vocals and Christian Baier Rasmussen, age 22(Ex-error 404, ex-Dark Marshall) on bass and vocals. Through the “Engulfed in Pestilent Darkness” debut album, the hymns have only gotten more desolate and apocalyptic, which has come across the few concerts the band has played from 2017 to now. And that will come equally across on the forthcoming album.

Founded in 2008 in Mjölby, Östergötland, the band rose from the ashes of cult act Mithotyn. With their first three albums "Fímbulvintr" (2010), "...to North" (2012), and "Karg" (2014), King OF Asgard firmly established themselves as a powerful presence in their scene. Due to their lyrical topics and visuals relating to local and Norse myths and sagas, runic writing and art styles as well as the occasional use of traditional melodies, the Swedes are sometimes categorised as Viking or pagan metal. Yet, King OF Asgard clearly went their own way and with a marked penchant for story-telling at epic length, they forcefully claimed a musical realm of their own. The release of "taudr" in 2017 put fresh wind into the sails of King OF Asgard with the arrival of new members, who were armed with invigorating enthusiasm and great talent, which some of them also prove in Vanhelgd. This new line-up remains stable and has worked hard to explore their new creative and musical opportunities to the full. Teaming up with Magnus "Devo" Andersson, who could easily claim the title of MARDUKs house producer, the Swedes made sure to maintain a black twist to their individual sound. Powerflo is a rap metal band formed in 2017, consisting of Cypress Hill rapper Sen Dog, guitarists Billy Graziadei (Biohazard) and Roy Lozano (ex-downset.), bassist Christian Olde Wolbers (ex-Fear Factory) and Worst drummer Fernando Schaefer.

The band's history can be traced back to the 1990's, where the band members would often collaborate - such as Cypress Hill and Biohazard performing on the famous Judgment Night soundtrack, or Wolbers and Lozano appearing in Cypress Hill albums Skull & Bones and Stoned Raiders. In 2015, Lozano played some demos to Sen Dog on a ride to the airport, setting the foundations for Powerflo.

The name of the band comes from a comment Roy Lozano made about Sen Dog's vocal tracking for the upcoming album. Describing their sound as a "cross between Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Cypress Hill", they first unveiled the group on March 1, 2017 while recording their self-titled debut album. On May 2 2017, they released the first single "Resistance" via Metal Injection. In launching the first single, Sen Dog indicated that this is a long term project and that future Powerflo albums will be released after their self-titled is released.
