Solid black vinyl limited to 200 copies. ...another sonic bestiality forged in the violent streets of Medellin, Colombia in the 80's!! Formed in 1984 by vocalist Carlos Mario Montoya “El vikingo” (also member of Nekromantie) who was assassinated in 1988, Sacrilegio were undoubtedly one of the most important names in the early Ultra Metal scene of the Antioquian region. Quoting the biography included in this anthology: "They were influenced by Metal/Hardcore classics of the time, such as Parabellum, Hellhammer, Slayer and Snobb Slakt (Swedish Hardcore)". This gives a better idea of their style, a primitive and rough crossover of early day death/thrash with a touch of 80's hardcore in the crudest form. In the works for more than 4 years, "Podredumbre 1986-1988" is the most exhaustive collection of all their existing recordings, assembled under supervision of the band's late guitarist Antonio Guerrero (also founder of Agressor and Masacre). 10 songs consisting of: audition session for "Rodrigo D. No futuro" and demo 1986-1987, final recording for the soundtrack of "Rodrigo D. No futuro" (1988), live at Acción Comunal del barrio Alfonso López Castilla, 1987. As explained in the band history, Sacrilegio's anthem "Podredumbre" was only included in the soundtrack of the movie "Rodrigo D." but not on the 1990's compilation LP featuring most of the bands that were invited to take part to that project. This LP come with 12 page booklet full of never seen before photos, flyers and an interesting biography written with the help of Antonio Guerrero. An absolute must have for fans of the most infernal South American death thrash and raw, unpolished 80's metal punk in general!

In early 2021, Eroded comes as a strong, hopeful voice expressing the suppressed yearning for an end of this madness which we all carry inside.

Back in 2012 LIZZARD recorded with Rhys Fulber in L.A. (Paradise Lost, Fear Factory, Front Line Assembly...) who confesses his love for their "marvelous poly-rhythmical sound". It is true that LIZZARD's songwriting is distinguished by at times intricate rhythmical patterns, but these are always woven into the fabric of immensely catchy song constructs. The technical prowess here is well concealed behind the glaring allure of the immediacy of raw, in your face rock music.

Formed in 2006, when Katy Elwell (drums), William Knox (bass) and Mathieu Ricou (guitar & vocals) met and discovered that they shared a common vision in music, LIZZARD soon set out to work on their sound with a mission to find their own idiosyncratic approach to contemporary rock music – music that makes confident reference to the past without romanticising it. In many ways, Eroded is a trip back to the best parts of the 90's, but in the sound of 2020.

Sophomore album Majestic was released in 2014 and met with great critical acclaim: a more spontaneous and raw affair compared to its predecessor, recorded live and produced by the band themselves, the album captures the intense energy the band unleashes on stage. “We’re very much a live band creatively speaking”, says bass player Will Knox. “All of the writing sessions happen in our rehearsal space rather than at home. We believe that to capture any vibe, the chemistry between members needs to occur in real time... at least for us.”

Shift (produced, mixed and engineered by Peter Junge), released in 2018, opened new doors for the French trio: “Lizzard accomplish the perfect balancing act between music that is challenging and catchy in equal measure”, Metal Hammer raved. The band opened for Gojira and Terry Bozzio who invited them to perform on Drum Channel, and embarked on month-long European tours with the likes of HIGH ON FIRE, THE PINEAPPLE THIEF and the ADRIAN BELEW POWER TRIO.

Recorded during a long month of voluntary isolation at the legendary Castle Studios in Germany, Eroded brings a light at the end of the tunnel: “The vibe on the album is generally one of hope and an invitation to stay alert to the light within ourselves, and to keep moving towards brighter destinations.”

Bring on the future and for once, let it be the past, as we knew it before the pandemic.

King Howl's new album, titled "Homecoming" will be released by Electric Valley Records on June 9, 2023. The work represents a new chapter in the band's stylistic universe, spurring King Howl's trademark sound while mixing it with new compositional and sound influences. A mix of blues, stoner, psychedelia, and classic rock that paints the soundscape of an on-the-road story set in 1960s America, a narrative plot that permeates the entire work, accompanied by a constant sonic evolution, always on the road. Thus, King Howl returns to the theme of travel, the band's favorite concept from the beginning. In this story, a young protagonist escapes from a rural setting witnessed by the blues sounds of opener "The Rooster" and rock'n'roll anthem "From the Cradle," followed by the beginning of the journey on the Kyussian railroad of "The Train." This leads to the nineties echoed Spoken-word of "John Henry Days" to the classic rock sounds of "Motorsound," a true ode to the big truck engine's vibrations. Consequently, the sonic journey flows into the oblivion of "Slowly Coming Down." Here, doom and psychedelia carry a dark foreboding. "Tempted," on the other hand, is a successful mix of country blues and stoner rock, an influence more and more present in the desertic "Jupiter," a track inspired by one of the characters in writer James Anderson's novel "The Never-Open Desert Diner." At the album's heart, the theme of travel and change symbolizes the animal world with the powerful "The Great Blue Heron." This song is marked by the sound of the Hammond organ, which makes the piece even more granitic. "Homecoming" then pays homage to the great Rolling Stones with the sixties classic "Gimme Shelter." Then it concludes this incredible journey with "Home," an angry but hopeful homecoming. An epic in music, a round trip of growth and change, of damnation, redemption, and rebirth. The album was recorded in Sardinia by Roberto Macis and Willy Cuccu and mixed by Nene Baratto and Richard Behrens at Big Snuff Studio in Berlin, a key production hub for international heavy Psych (Kadavar, Samsara Blues Experiment, Elder, Wucan). A sound production focused on an "organic" analog sound, thanks to the use of vintage gear and a reel-to-reel master made by Nene Baratto at the Berlin-based Morphine Raum Studio.

Golgotha is the sixth studio album by Bleeding Eyes. After Gammy (©2014 Go Down Records) the band embarked on a different stylistic and compositional path. Starting from long and substantial jams, the five-piece band extrapolated and deepened 7 tracks lasting almost 50 minutes. The influences are getting darker. Black on black. The esoteric doom mixed with the tipically sludgy attitude, give to their personal existential ordeal a picture in which Simone Tesser’s lyrics fit perfectly. Golgotha’s topics tell about saints and unbelievers, the latter ones in constant conflict with life and death. This new interpretation, that also takes inspiration from the heretic gospels of the apocalypse (first 2 tracks), represents the steady and never ending spiritual detachment, that our capitalist society has lived in for several decades. With mocking irony and lots of sarcasm a post-dogmatic dark way is proposed by the band to deal with the ordeal of everyday life. The studio recording process lasted several months and was handled by Jason Nealy and Marco Dussin (guitarist and bassist respectively). Drums and rhythm guitars were recorded at the music club Benicio Live Gigs, located in the suggestive woods of the Montello hill in Italy. While the final steps, mixing and mastering took place at BadRum studio in Asolo, Italy. Golgotha has a really deep and dense meaning for the band and the graphic part plays an important role too; that’s why the Bleeding Eyes has chosen the Lorenzo Ferraro’s photography. The album artwork consists in pictures taken right after the passage of the devastating storm Vaia, that heavily damaged the band’s hometown surroundings. The desolation post Vaia matches perfectly with Golgotha’s magmatic darkness. The event proved our disarming weakness in front of an untamed force of nature, that can unleash destroying powers yet unknown. The album title itself is therefore -calvario- the combination of a natural imagery that reveals the misery of the precarious human condition.

Rapid Eye Records proudly presents “Counterfeit Fire” - the debut EP by the noise rock band CHILDREN, due on 12” vinyl and as a digital release on September 23. Get ready for a frictional force of angular rock - barely hanging by threads of jazz, proto-punk and 1990’s noise rock, sewing together what is a both free-form and repetitive wet blanket of existential dread. Hitting the mark somewhere between THE STOOGES, SCRATCH ACID and free jazz - this release is also undoubtedly coloured by its birthplace Berlin; cold yet wild, limitless within its sharply edged box.

Formed by multi-instrumentalist and lyricist Tim Nagel and completed with guitarist/bassist Ivan Krasnov, the EP features guest appearances by Gottfrid Ahman (IN SOLITUDE, WATAIN etc) and Linnéa Olsson (MAGGOT HEART). It was recorded by Torben Utecht (OCCVLTA), mixed by Pierre Somville (DOLCH etc) and mastered by James Plotkin (EARTH etc). There is both – a before and an after. Looking at Mountaineer’s line-up and modus operandi, it’s important to distinguish between the first two albums, “Sirens and Slumber” (2017) and “Passages” (2018), and the Californian band’s recent output. Today operates a sextet whose first release was 2020’s “Bloodletting” and which now presents itself on the fourth long player “Giving Up The Ghost” even more attuned and self-evident. The Oakland-based group has been described as dark doom, post metal, shoegaze and heavy rock. All of the aforementioned flows into the musicality of Mountaineer, but none of the terms alone does justice to the overall picture. There is far more, because the Californians do not dwell on questions of heritage or genre limitations. It’s about musical expression. The focus is on the transmission of feelings – open, relentless and intuitive, but also with circumspection and clear intentions. “Giving Up The Ghost” is such an album, whose seven tracks you inevitably listen to in one piece and, at first, you don’t even realize how much you are drawn into the spell of the music. This expresses the excellent songwriting of Mountaineer. The fourth album of the sextet is developed rich in contrast and tension, but also balanced and connecting. In addition, it offers distinctive, recognizable hooklines and vocals, as well as a mood that extends over the full playing time, which ultimately distinguishes “Giving Up The Ghost”
