This obscure 80's Texan band managed one album on the French Axe Killer label in 1986. One of several American bands finding homes on French record labels at that time. They mixed a traditional 80's metal base with some accessible hard rock tendencies and the occasional interesting guitar flourish

Fans of Cathedral's Forest of Equilibrium will recognize where a few of the riffs from that record actually came from. Paul Chain has long been known for his improvisational eccentricities, aggressive nightmarish doom, and moody atmospheric meanderings. Since its release in 1988, the ASH EP has been considered a masterpiece of thrash and total doom. With 2 Bonus Tracks

Hirax is back in print as it was meant to be. A blistering slab of crossover/thrash/speed metal that was able to bridge the gap between the straight up metal audience and the embryonic "Crossover" hardcore/punk era that was evolving in 1985. Hirax was always fast, rough and raw, they blasted forward with energy and relentless speed. Katon delivered traditional metal style singing with upper registers often only used by Mercyful Fate or Judas Priest. Unique and uncompromising in their attack, Hirax played with bands across the heavy music spectrum in the L.A. scene and cemented their legacy with fans worldwide with a prolific amount of interviews, correspondence and tape trading.
