The first LE Griffe version is dated back in 1978 to late 1980 when the New Wave of British Heavy Metal band performed the first gigs and also booked their first recording studio sessions. It was then when the first incarnation of the song "Dead On Arrival" appeared that now is reworked and appearing as a bonus track for the first time in the CD version. The band was ambitious and the line-up changed leading to the recording of "Fast Bikes" EP while they also kept performing live, even supporting bands like Magnum. Charting in magazines like Sounds, they kept changing line-up and after the release of "Breaking Strain" EP the band just ran out of stream without releasing a full-album but they managed to record a few classic Nwobhm songs, and they remain among the heroes of an era long gone but never forgotten. Those classic EPs are now packed in a new release for all the fans of the Nwobhm and British hard rock and metal!

On 25 August 1997, the birthday of KISS' Gene Simmons, Lordi had their first recording session and started a long, exciting journey that lasted a year. Unfortunately, the label that was going to release the album dropped out and the band went on to record new material.
As a result, the tapes of Bend Over and Pray the Lord sat on the shelves for a very long time. Until 2012, when it was released on CD as part of Lordi's archive series, Scarchives.

“I wanted to play guitar since I was born, basically,” proffers Matt Pike when asked about the formative years of his musical maturation. The iconic guitarist of High on Fire and Sleep seemingly came into the world with inherent talent

From reverent youth to Grammy-winning riff-wielder, Pike has always housed a boundless enthusiasm for the six-string and the stupendous sounds that – in the right hands – the instrument can produce.

“Trapped in A Midcave” was the first song we wrote. It’s kind of like “God of Thunder”. I tried to make my vocals mimic a David Lee Roth-type melody. Then I thought, “Who should I play the solo like?”, so I studied a bunch of Michael Schenker solos and then put a Michael Schenker solo that’s like four minutes long on it. It’s such a good riff. Soon after, it felt like ‘I want to record this, this shit’s really good,’” Pike admits.

The Automaton, in Greek mythology, is the big robot that’s the guardian of the Gods, basically. It’s a soulless, big machine named Talos. The big machine that’s working against mankind at this moment. In ‘Jason and the Argonauts’, Jason and the Argonauts have to battle this big machine guy that protects the island. Basically, what the album title is saying, metaphorically, is ‘Pike against the World.’”

“I made a psychedelic rock record that Sleep and High on Fire fans would like,” Pike says when asked for a CliffsNotes description of ‘Pike vs. the Automaton’. “And maybe if you’re not a Sleep or High on Fire fan, you might like it too. I definitely think it’s interesting; it has D-Beat punk, two-step. It’s got everything and it still works together, it doesn’t sound odd. It’s just an off-the-wall psychedelic rock record.”

Now remastered (courtesy of Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios) and consecrated through its first ever vinyl edition and a graphic facelift, Maurda's catastrophic second short player "Cultus Brachypter" went largely ignored upon its original 2022 self-release, but its obscurity can be solely attributed to the hermetic extremism that defines it. In reality, a world is contained within these sixteen minutes and six movements of absolute eschaton. A world so impenetrable it takes complete sacrifice to enter it. With its ruinous sensorial assault, "Cultus Brachypter" initially evokes the war-torn bestial insanity of bands like Pseudogod or Teitanblood, but as the onslaught progresses the listener soon realizes they are being drawn into a desolate, void-like inner world of dehumanized alienation. The grim specter of Dsbm rears its head as the minutes pass and the sense of misery and isolation becomes suffocating and reaches its inevitable consequences and conclusions. This form of enigmatic, inward-vanquishing extreme metal appears inscrutable in its uncommunicative isolationism, and can be solely superficially interpreted as an unprecedented fusion of war metal and depressive black metal in which feelings of dread, melancholy and self-loathing are taken to their extremes and weaponized into an abstract white-wall representation of absolute nihilism and self-destruction that ultimately evokes the grim soul-tearing lineaments of pure noise. Limited edition silkscreened single-sided black vinyl inside a matte laminated sleeve with black flood inside the pocket, xeroxed insert and download card.

Our aim with Messa’s performance was to embrace a musical wandering that could allow all of us – on and off stage – to drift away into another place. We couldn't wait to be on Roadburn’s stage again and we were very excited to be part of the 2022 edition.”

Seeming to both embrace and defy everything it means to be a metal band, Messa mesh Mediterranean sounds with crushing doom riffs, with an emphasis on atmosphere and unusual use of instrumentation. The group was formed by Amadeus Galiano (electric guitars), Emilia Moncayo (voice/sampling) and Filippo Brandrimarte (drums) in Bologna, Italy, in 2012 maintaining this lineup until the return to Ecuador. In December 2016, the band was joined by Carlos Sánchez, the actual drummer of the band, in 2017. It is an experimental metal project influenced by math, breakcore and Latin music that mixes polyrhythmic structures with minimalist guitar riffs. Emilia and Amadeus initially created the band with the idea of making a thrash metal band, however, it evolved into a somewhat different style. Complicated grooves as well as aggressive and suddenly demented vocal lines resulted in an exposition of Latin American rhythms in their most brutal form. The pro-ject is essentially a mixture between thrash, djent and experimental metal. In 2017 the band signed with the record label Subsound Records and released their first album Imago.

Two raw and unmixed songs from Wind’s Poem were transferred from the original analog tape masters into the ProTools HDX system at Owl Lodge. The studio is situated in the woods near Olympia, WA and is the headquarters of Wolves in the Throne Room. A single vocal track from “Lost Wisdom" was layered with newly recorded digital synths and a heavy bass from a vintage Korg MS-20. Wisps of the original organ and guitar appear in a heavily processed form. “Mouth of Sky” was created using techniques inspired by Lee Perry. In this case, the original tracks were routed to a variety of analog and digital FX units via the faders on the studio’s Harrison PP1 console. The mix was performed in real time.

After showcases at Roadburn Redux (2021) and Eurosonic (January 2022), already 4 (!) repressings of debut album Unfold the God Man within just a year of its release, and big gigs at Alcatraz Festival and supporting Amenra, we can safely say that there is massive buzz around this band. Psychonaut literally came from out of nowhere -Mechelen, Belgium, to be precise- but their sophomore album Unfold The God Man made waves in the post- and progressive metal scenes: an intricate concept album tackling philosophical and existential themes and ultimately exploring mankind's re-ascension to a higher level of consciousness, the nearly 70-minute-long Unfold The God Man contained material from over 3 years of incessant writing, arranging and recording. This spring, Psychonaut released a new split album with Oslo's Sa^ver, titled Emerald. The band premiered an in-studio play-through of their 16-minutes contribution The Great Realisation, a track about the start of both an individual and a collective awakening, at this year's digital edition of Roadburn Festival April - a full-on assault on the senses brimming with ingenuity, from the creative drumming to the amazingly talented Stefan de Graef's idionsyncratic guitar playing, all the way to the use of didgeridoos and tribal percussion, The Great Realisation showcased truly world class musicianship and songwriting abilities. Ferocious Fellowman, an EP originally released in 2016, is the band's 2nd release, tucked between 2014's debut album "24 Trips Around The Sun" and 2020's "Unfold The God Man". Long sold out and sought after, it was about time for a reissue of this seminal release, which paved the way for Unfold The God Man. Influenced by 70's bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd but also drawing inspiration from contemporary heavy artists like Tool or Amenra, the three-piece made themselves a solid name across the European underground with a raw and compelling live show, which merges their wall of sound with intense visual landscapes and moody lighting design. Contrast and variation are the two main anchors on which they base their musical and visual ideas, and watching the band perform live makes you wonder how they manage to pull of this immensely orchestral, polyphonic sound with just 3 players: Psychonaut are an absolute sight to behold on stage. Hailing from Hungary and proudly performing in their mother tongue, ROTHADAS made their public debut in 2019 with a self-titled demo tape for ME SACO UN OJO. A two-song work totaling 16 minutes, Rothadás suggested - and strongly - that the selfsame band had a staunchly ancient-minded vision of death metal but by no means were blinkered by the past. Perhaps this unique dichotomy is down to ROTHADAS being a self-contained duo of vocalist/drummer Lambert Lédeczy and guitarist/bassist Tibor Hanyi - both men equally prolific veterans of the underground, and both concurrently playing in labelmates CRYPTWORM among others. Now, at last do the duo unveil their debut album, Kopár hant... az alvilág felé. Here, ROTHADAS erect an eerily shimmering monument of slimy, oftdoomy DEATH METAL: for maniacs, by maniacs, young and old and everyone in between. Armed with an absolutely crushing production, the band's first full-length betrays an eternal wisdom by maximizing the basics as well as nodding to various eras and locales of death metal but only subtly - immersion rather than extraction, and addition by subtraction, tastefully so in both regards. As each of these five lumbering/lunging hulks of dread-inducing sound effortlessly morph into myriad shapes, each one as ghastly and grotesque as the last, it slowly begins to dawn on the listener than Kopár hant... az alvilág felé retains a runtime of 44 minutes: truly, an experience that is EPIC - as ever, tastefully and subtly so - rather "epic" in shameless overstatement. Further, ROTHADAS' native Hungarian helps lend another sublime layer of the unique to what is arguably the year's best dark-horse death metal recording...recognize or regret!
