Stuff like "Crimson Red", "An Eye For An Eye", "Evil Hammer" etc would easily put to shame 90% of today's releases and this is really impressive given that all those songs never made it to an official Gargoyle release.

No one album could ever capture the claustrophobia-to-catharsis of an Eyehategod show, but this compilation of live tracks and demos comes as close as it gets. Giving you an idea of Eyehategod’s uncompromising, single minded purity of expression and exertion of raw nerve, “10 Year Of Abuse” is a monumental document all the way from the demo era to their later, legendary relentless live tour set. Many other bands have tried unsuccessfully to emulate Eyehategod and have never quite captured their dynamic. Formed in 1988 in New Orleans they have become one of the most well known bands to emerge from the Nola metal scene. Eyehategod note bands like Melvins, The Obsessed, Discharge, Black Flag, Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus as major influences, but are often mentioned in the same breath as any of these legendary bands. Drawing comparisons to Grindcore, Crust Punk and Sludge Metal, their heavy bluesy, detuned rock and roll has been a lynchpin for the misanthropic and disenfranchised. Eyehategod has released five studio albums to date with a sixth in the works and have toured all over the world in a career spanning over thirty years. Though the band has never released a live album, we are left with “10 Years” as the only official witnessing document to decades of decimating live sonic abuse. Released on May 29, 2001, “10 Years” spans seven live tracks from their European tour in 2000, a live radio show from August 1994 and four songs from an early 1990 demo. The result is a feedback-laced window into that wonderful, brutal Eyehategod “sound”, that addictive, lower-than-low note that nestles somewhere in the pit of your burning, alcohol-soaked, nauseated stomach. The booklet alone is a delight for anyone who worships at the altar of Eyehategod’s oppressively heavy, crushing riffs. With personal liner-notes, that set the scene and describe the unique vibe of the band’s sound and live show, including old flyers and posters from concerts and photos of the different line-ups from 1990 until today, the package is an immersive insight into one of the paramount heavy Sludge bands of our time. A vision of pain and neglect, they’ve done thousands of shows, never predictable in their tension and ultimately, release. Vanguard is a metallic hardcore band based out of Houston, TX; formed during the Covid-19 quarantine of 2020. Vanguard is unapologetically a vegan-leftist band, and actively supports and promotes a host of critical social and political causes, both lyrically and through the direct action and activism of its members. The band is ideologically tied to the animal liberation movement, endorses socialistpolitical theory, is vehemently anti-fascist, and believes and fights for the political, legal, educational, and economic equality of all people, regardless of race, gender, orientation, or class. Their message and sound come exploding out of the gates with a style that nods to the storied militance and aggression of metallic hardcore from decades past, while injecting the sound with their own unique modern ferocity and urgency.

Degenerate nihilistic punk commando Puro Odio seal an unholy pact with Sentient Ruin to reissue their incendiary 2018 debut demo on 10" vinyl, making it available for the first time ever on analog physical formats in North America. On the verminous and heinous demo the Basque raw punk terrorists first came together as a rogue entity of total barbarism and inhumanity, glorifying cruelty, violence and sadism at their most gratuitous and senseless stages through six primordial stabs of complete hatred and perversion. Firmly rooted in the proudest and fiercest tradition of raw punk and hardcore, Oi!, crust and d-beat, what sets Puro Odio apart from their far less controversial and harmless peers is their unique and sophisticated visual aesthetic and their meticulous yet unsettling sound blending nefarious black metal-like vocals, violent lyrics, barbaric d-beats and a meat grinder of unrelenting chainsawing guitars - a proud exercise in sonic atavism that has yielded a blood-drenched hardcore punk twilight of total darkness and bestiality. Led by guitarist/vocalist Gabriele Fiori, also of Black Rainbows, Killer Boogie come across as more geared toward the retro-style '70s rock currently holding sway on the European scene in the wake of Graveyard‘s blues rock supremacy, but their take is rawer than most, and that gives them an edge. After a split with other cool bands of the scene as Golden Grass, Banquet and Wild Eyes the band wrote a wonderful sophomore album in the spring 2017 and recorded in the summer. Magnetic Eye Records present a blistering live document of their flagship band Horsehunter destroying onstage at the "Day of Doom" label showcase at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus Bar.

Inhuman were formed in December 1992 in Silves (Algarve), one of the oldest and most historic cities in Portugal. Celebrating almost a 30 year career, the band just recorded their most ambitious work, with producer Daniel Cardoso (Anathema, Angelus Apatrida, Ava Inferi) at the controls of this remarkable production. The new album is called “contra”: a strong and suggestive title for a band that never stopped believing and fighting for his place in the Heavy Metal scene. It will be released in November 2020 by Alma Mater Records(led by Fernando Ribeiro from Moonspell, who was bewitched by the brilliant proposal of the band). Received with enthusiasm by fans and critics since “Strange Desire” (1996), which was followed by the 1998 seminal “Foreshadow”, Inhuman always stood out from the majority for their ability to combine their influences (Paradise Lost, Anathema) with their unique musical characteristics, which distinguish them. “contra” will be one of the best albums of the year for Portuguese Metal and marks the band's strong return to studio albums. Hexandagger is a heavy project band featuring Brad Davis (bassist for Fu Manchu) on drums, Emily Burton (Fireball Ministry): guitars/vocals, Helen Storer (Fireball Ministry/ ex Fluffy): lead vocals/bass and Per Wiberg (Opeth, Spiritual Beggars, Grand Magus etc) Keyboards. As long-time mutual friends they formed in the summer 2018 and jammed solidly throughout the ensuing winter months. The initial results of these heavy jams can now be heard on this, their debut 7” for Rise Above Records. Mixing classic doom riffing with shoegazing otherworldliness, Hexandagger is more than just a one-off venture. More material is waiting to be unleashed and dates were planned prior to the dreaded Covid outbreak took its grip. Stay tuned for more activities from this spellbinding power-trio. After the calm and sublime People Used To Live Here, Spook THE Horses, hailing from Wellington, New Zealand deliver their ferocious new album, Empty Body. With distortion levels cranked up, tempoes sped up and songs condensed and stripped down to the bare, ugly essentials, Empty Body comes as a brutal wake-up call within the rampant covid-19 fatigue, and an unexpected surprise in almost every regard. "We've always been both a heavy and a quiet band. An entire album of our prettier, more bittersweet inclinations demands a reply of our most aggressive and confrontational. The pendulum must swing back the other way", comments multi-instrumentalist Callum Gay. Imagine: if band members can rotate between instrument positions within the band, because every band member can play every instrument, then this must imply a seldom degree of freedom and mutual musical understanding... something that most bands could only dream of. Spook THE Horses are such a band. Red Mesa is a psychedelic, bluesy desert rock trio from Albuquerque, New Mexico, who churn out hook-laden jams and blistering live performances as only a band from the actual desert can.
