So ten years on from his passing, welcome to the very special Frankie Knuckles / Spring issue.

Frankie was so much more than The Godfather of House as our many loving tributes, stories and memories from friends and fans show.

His legacy continues through the music and memories he has left behind. And thanks to the Frankie Knuckles Foundation who have helped with this issue, his mission as the global ambassador of house music continues through the causes he supported.

With much love and deep admiration, we give you our Frankie Knuckles special.

Niger guitar hero Mdou Moctar has blazed a trail across the world for a new style of hypnotic desert rock. On the eve of a major US and European tour, Clive Bell talks to Moctar and his band about the anti-colonial spirit animating their current album Afrique Victime, the infamous Purple Rain-inspired motorbike musical Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai, and their connections with other leading lights of daredevil North African guitar including Les Filles De Illighadad.

This book is part of an ongoing series that covers musicians like Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Poly Styrene, Don Letts, Minority Threat, and many others. From LA to London, from the early 1900s till today, Buchanan examines and presents narratives to show how Black musicians shape (and are shaped by) the world we live in. 64 full-color pages. 6.625" x 10.187" with spine.

The second volume of the "Past Venue GUIDE," which tracks the sites of live houses and clubs that have been our allies from the 1970s, the era of rapid economic growth, to the 2000s, is now available. In the previous issue, 42 sites were introduced, mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area, but this time 64 sites were covered. The coverage area has been expanded to include not only the Tokyo metropolitan area, but also Osaka, which is important for unraveling the history of punk/hardcore in Japan.
