Drummer/producer Teppo "Teddy Rok" MÃ¤kynen shares two unreleased cuts by his alias The Stance Brothers on We Jazz Records. The 7" color vinyl single goes by the title "Commercial Music", as both tracks are originally commissioned for promotional purposess. The tough-as-nails A-sider "Hard Deal" is an old-school Stance groover made for the Finnish clothing brand Samuji's men's Spring/Summer collection 2015. Stance fans will recognice the signature Teddy Rok groove which cooks and rocks, and displays nice depth as well. The drum break is pure fire like only Teppo can deliver. "Dwayne's Shuffle", known to local Finnish jazz aficionadoes as the opening theme of the popular Yle Radio 1 "Jazzklubi" show is slightly more mellow offering, yet the full swing and intensity is right there in the pocket. The crunchy guitar and minimalist vibraphone melodies carry the tune way beyond your average radio show jingle into a full existence of its own.
"Commercial Music" by The Stance Brothers is released by We Jazz Records on color 7" vinyl single, delivered with heat-pressed old school labels and a stylish plain brown sleeve.

Many jazz listeners may not be familiar with the group name "The Three of Us. This was another name used by jazz keyboardist Hilton Felton, a familiar name to rare groove collectors, when he released this groovy soul-jazz album in 1971. The album was pressed in very small numbers at the time, and is now known as sought-after vinyl that is traded with such high prices on the second-hand vinyl market. The songs are performed in a trio formation with Joe Harris (bass) and Johnathan Setell (drums), with Hilton's sophisticated touch coloring the mellow feeling and deep grooves. This is the first time reissued on vinyl!

This deep soul-jazz double-sider, recorded on October 3rd 1972, was released as a seven-inch single on Motella, one of the many labels of the Mavuthela Music division of Gallo Africa (now Gallo Record Company). Mavuthela was founded by the talent scout and producer Rupert Bopape in 1964. This recording of 'The Toreadors', a one-off session group, was produced by Ray Nkwe who worked as an independent producer for several different companies and was responsible for organising many African jazz-oriented sessions in the 1970s and early 80s.

The Word is one of the better-kept secrets of 1980s Austrian disco music. Yet once you put the needle on this record, you notice that it sounds oddly familiar. The awe-inspiring signature piece “Lobster” has the same analogue, slow-moving aesthetic as Zenit’s timeless “Waiting” that was featured on Edition Hawara’s first release. The same goes for the three other wonderfully unconventional, proto-electronic songs: “Easy”, “All my life” and the eponymous “the word”. And there are even more commonalities with Zenit’s LP: The vocals are Linda Sharrock’s, who here teamed up with Karl “Charly” Ratzer and Peter Ponger, the twin brother of legendary Falco producer Robert Ponger. The result of this collaboration is, well, also quite legendary. How this kind of sound emerged in Vienna in 1984 is still a bit of a mystery, but clearly all the stars were aligned when Sharrock, Ratzer and Ponger were jamming in the studio. We at Edition Hawara are very proud to share this secret with you. Just as there are very few lobsters in landlocked Vienna, there are very few records like this out there.

Theodore Lee Croker is an American jazz trumpeter, composer, producer and vocalist. He is a Grammy Award nominee, three-time Echo Award nominee, as well as a Theodore Presser Award recipient. As the grandson of trumpeter Doc Cheatham, Theo Croker has jazz music in his DNA. Escape Velocity is his fourth studio album, originally released in 2016. He was discovered by singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, who became his mentor and can also be heard on this album (“Love from the Sun”). Tigeroak draws inspiration among underground jazz, hip-hop and neo-soul environments, which mixed with their Nordic influences, all contribute to the duo"s nuanced palette of sounds. By combining neo-soul features with electronic hip-hop grooves, melodic choruses and figurative lyrics, they aim to create a space for everybody to enjoy music with an experimental focus. Tigeroak was in 2022 selected for Jazz Danmark"s National Jazz Competition and performed twice in the very popular national television show DR"s: "Sammen - hver for sig". Their concert at the festival "Jazz and Roots"" was nominated to a Danish Music Award for "most innovative concert experience of the year". Recently the duo has played multiple concerts in Paris, and have recently travelled to London, to record for their future album inAngel-and Abbey Road Studios.

"Shadow Theater" is the fifth album by armenian pianist and composer Tigran Hamasyan and his second release on Verve released in 2013.

In reference to an ancestral art of his country, Hamasyan plunges the listener into an imaginary, dreamlike world that owes as much to Tim Burton as to the tradition of shadow theatre. The album is packed with dozens of figurines that inhabit the pianist's head, from the labyrinthine metal of Meshuggah to the jazz fusion of Chick Corea, from Madlib to Sigur Rós and Steve Reich. Hamasyan explores both electronic and sonic avenues, proving himself to be a dazzling songwriter as well as a singer with a fragile timbre.

This 140-gram vinyl is the first international vinyl reissue, pressed at Pallas, and is presented in a gatefold jacket.
