The coming together of two titans in their respective countries, LA beatmaker Jansport J and Japan-based DJ BudaMunk span the east/west divide on their collaborative LP BudaSport. Across 15 tracks, underlying beats work as adhesive as languages spar and interlock in the foreground of this release packed with linguistic intrigue. Guests also feature heavily with Issugi, 5lack and Daichi Yamamoto representing a fraction of the Japanese talent, while Thurz, Devin Morrison and Blu among others contribute verses from the US.

Jansport J is a prolific figure in the Los Angeles underground, and alongside several solo LPs and collaborative albums, he also recently contributed production to Nas’ King Disease 2. BudaMonk is also no stranger to US shores with his records regularly being distributed by Delicious Vinyl and Fat Beats. P-vine records is delighted to present their joint work as a limited edition LP release with a unique Japanese obi-strip attached.

If and Only If is the latest project by Canadian indie hip hop stalwarts and long-time collaborators, soso and Maki.

Over a period of two decades, soso and Maki have been charting their own unique course, operating at the edges of the hip hop genre to develop a distinctive and personal body of work that helped define the prairie hip hop ethos.

On If and Only If, their first album in seven years, Maki has crafted a delicate and evolving backdrop for the contemplative lyrics that established soso’s reputation as one of the most unique voices in alternative hip hop. Drawing from noise, drone and other forms of electronic music, Maki sets the tone for an album imbued with the pressing political issues and social tensions that have characterized the past five years. The album was certainly not rushed. It is well-considered, deliberate in pace and intent. This is winter walking music.

DJ Tudo e sua Gente de Todo Lugar’s 7th album, breed from Brazilian field recordings and made between 2007 and 2019 in trips around the world - Brazil and 11 other countries. It is a project that should have come out in 2013, but the “Pancada Motor - Manifesto da festa” came out ahead, having as a sequel the two volumes of Gaia Music series. By early 2019, the album was finalized. Pancada Motor is a term derived from the Alagoas traditions like the Samba de Matuto, Cambinda, Baianá and Caboclinha, about their cultural make or their rhythms. Here this name has been expanded to other cultures and rhythms of Brazil. Transformation and Cure are urgent needs for humanity and our relation with the planet, we need to transform our relationship with each other and Mother Earth for our healing as a whole. Artists from many countries and different cultures contributed to this work. It is hard to place an order of greatness and importance but certainly the traditional Brazilian groups were the initial inspiration: Matutinhas do Pontal de Coruripe, Cambinda Palmeirense de Porto de Pedras, Maracatu Nação e Rural de Recife, Caceteira do Seu Rindu de São Cristóvão, Terno de Congo 13 de Maio de Goiânia, Reisado São Miguel de Juazeiro de Norte, Carimbó Raízes de Coremar de Salinas and Queen Dona Neta from Maracatu Cruzeiro do Forte do Recife. Equally fundamental is the contribution of Sérgio Ricardo, legend of MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), and Chilean rapper Ana Tijoux that features the track “Terra para todos (Land for all)”. Brazilian Hip Hop, with a golden-era glint and a 20-strong cast is given fresh impetus on Ela Partiu, 24 year old rapper Laiz"s breakout recording on Agogo Records.Glowing with Pan-African collaborations, and rooted in Laiz"s love and appreciation of magical realism, tropicália and Brazilian music old and new - think Tom Zé and Marcelo D2 - Ela Partiu features Sudanese trap-rapper Zeyo Mann, Ghanian percussionist and singer Eric Owusu (Jembaa Groove, Pat Thomas) and produced by young.vishnu & Pachakuti, from the up and coming crew, and Laiz"s label mates, The New Love Experience.

B.O.L.T. Warhead was one of the pioneers in the Norwegian hip hop scene. They grew out of the A-Team crew, and took their music in a rougher and more militant direction. The peace signs and positivity of the A-Team was replaced by black military pants and doomsday poetry. The Re-Enforcement was the only album released by B.O.L.T. Warhead, and it is considered a classic in britcore circles nevertheless, with the CD and the tape going for more than 100 EUR. Now it is available on vinyl for the first time.

Rapper/producer Big Ben of Yamanashi's proud hip-hop group, stillichimiya, has released his first solo album “My Music ('12)” which includes "Party Never Ends" and an instrumental cover of Sun Ra!

The A-side 'Party wa Endless', featuring MMM and Dagaryu from stillichimiya, is a gorgeous party song filled with the rough excitement of stillichimiya as it is. The B-side features a fantastic instrumental cover of Sun Ra's "Love in Outer Space" with a vintage feel. The track is a concentrated version of Big Ben's unique hip-hop touch, with friendly raps kneaded over a refreshing track with an unpretentious flavour, and a body of work that hits you where you stand.

L.B.T (Live Beat Tapes) are a collective formed of hip hop producers, jazz musicians, rappers and singers. This album is a compilation of singles, an overview of a year's work and of 10 digitally released episodes. This 12-members collective of Florentine-based artists / hippies is a dynamic, ever-evolving musical experiment, in search of the perfect vibe.

Circa 2022, Ozo's new songs, stronger-thanever brotherhood and the potent emotional impetus behind Marching On further cements the legacy begun with the band's 1998 self-titled debut. With musician/producer David Garza (Fiona Apple, Sparta) producing in Bpre-pandemic 2020 at El Paso's Sonic Ranch, Ozo were honored with esteemed musical guests who contributed to the 11-song album including B-Real (Cypress Hill), Guatemalan singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno, J.J. FAD (of "Supersonic" Fame) and Lisa Lisa (Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam.)

Sometimes you need to look to the past as much as the future. 'The Overview Effect' by emcee-producer duo Jermiside & The Expert is a vast musical collage of psychedelic soundscapes merged with hip hop’s golden age. A socially conscious psychedelic hip-hop album inspired by Marvin Gaye’s narrative on ‘What’s Going On’ mixed with tripped-out beats reminiscent of Edan’s ‘Beauty & The Beat.’

The production on 'The Overview Effect' takes on late-60s psychedelic folk/rock, viewed through a 90s b-boy mentality of heavy drums and dope breaks. Built with a keen ear for detail, The Expert densely layered his productions with tons of samples, seamlessly weaved together. Swirling strings, sitars, Moogs and crunchy guitars are all present, accompanied by trippy sound effects. “In terms of songwriting, very few songs on this record have a ‘classic song structure’,” says The Expert. “Key influences include bands like The Zombies, The Beach Boys, The Left Banke, and Love’s 1967 cult classic, 'Forever Changes.'”

This album was a way of paying tribute to the artists and music Jermiside & The Expert love, but done in their own way. 'The Overview Effect' is an album that never overstays its welcome and demands repeated listening. “I wanted the songs to have multiple layers, different sections, and intriguing arrangements so there’s something new to discover every time,” adds The Expert.

The carefully crafted collage on the album cover reflects war, greed, injustice, racism, and social ecology. Jermiside’s vivid imagery paints his own picture of a broken world yet one where the power is still in our hands to change it. “I came across a podcast with an astronaut describing his experience in space,” recalls Jermiside. “The feeling was described as ‘the overview effect,’ which is essentially a keen sense of awareness astronauts feel after viewing planet earth from the vantage point of space for the first time.”

Jermiside’s ‘overview effect’ confronts the state of the world we now live in and the struggles we face. This starts on the opening track “I Love You, Still?” with Jermiside questioning his love for his home country. “Black Tears” sees Jermiside and Stik Figa trade experiences about racial challenges and inequalities, while “Bullet shock” deals with police and the use of authority. The album then ends on a positive note with “A Little Love” stating that love conquers all. A closing message in line with the sampled spirit of the 60s.

After two EPs with his punk-jazz duo La Récré, a recent solo album on Born Bad Records and two soundtracks for Monia Chokri films "Babysitter" and "Simple Comme Sylvain", Forever Pavot is everywhere yet never where you expect him to be. He now returns to BMM with a new rap album titled "Forever XP". On the other side of the globe, LA-based rapper and street activist XP The Marxman received a beat with a nice sample from one of his producers. XP traced the sample back to Forever Pavot, and decided to reach out to him to collaborate. That's how the atypical Forever XP album was born. Pavot's first time working with a rapper was also XP's first time working with a composer, yet they managed to blend both their universes in such a flawless way that it's like they were meant to create music together.

Roméo Johnny Elvis Strauss Van Leaken has made "Morale" a place where each of us can find him in order to listen to his stories. Between self-mockery, references and reflections, we are able to find in this place neat and humorous lyrics, however, not to be taken lightly. The atmosphere is soaring but doesn't prevent us from discovering the failings and the ambition of the young Belgian rapper : "Brussels is coming!"
