Last year, Brooklyn’s Krts released Remixes for Beards and Flannels, a mix-tape of top shelf classics from hip-hop’s ‘80s and ‘90s heyday. This September, he’ll follow this with his newest and first-ever proper EP release, Hold On, on the Berlin label Project Mooncircle.

With sounds ranging from the eclectic side of Hip-Hop, Broken Beat, Downtempo, soulful Dubstep, Indie Rock, and Fusion Jazz, Krts crafts a soundtrack to an ever-changing NYC landscape, fraught with struggles and flashbacks of what-was, all while letting go of ideals in favor of a new, raw, and heartfelt future. The album’s title track, "Hold On”, concerns the battle of a fleeting love – electronic and psychedelic sounds lead to a heavy, mid-range looped chorus and a deep, rumbling dubstep-style bassline. A taste of struggle is represented in “Whatever”, with it’s 808 kicks, layered snare, eerie and rattling samples, sweeping syths, and improvised piano… all as an ode to the cluttered market of Brooklyn’s indie art scene.

Project: Mooncircle & Finest Ego have teamed up to establish a fresh new 12” producer series, entitled “Faces”. On every edition, you will find two different producers. Respectively, each producer will have their own record-side and unique cover artwork by the aspring LNY, known for his surrealistic portraits, blending humans and animals.
The very first installment of the “Faces” series will feature the two prolific beathsmiths Pavel Dovgal & Ta-Ku. Coming from backgrounds which could not possibly be any more different – Ta-Ku has Philippine roots and grew up in Australia while Pavel was born in Russia and moved to Ukraine at young age – these two artists share a common connection through their relentless work-ethic and individualistic creative approach to making music. They have been fighting for international recognition with their extravagant beats, just like the Megasoma & Hercules beetles fight for female recognition with their extravagant horns.

Sasha Kholenko is DZA, a Russian beat-maker and producer at the forefront of the scene in Russia and quickly invading the rest of the world with his unique electronic hip-hop creations. At the beginning of 2010, Jus Like Music made contact with DZA and then met with him at the Red Bull Music Academy in London where he was a participant. DZA submitted his track, Shifty, to the Oscillations compilation released last year by Jus Like Music Records. Since then, DZA has gone on to create releases for Error Broadcast and Black Acre Records, but now he is back with his Supershark EP.
A joint release between Jus Like Music Records and Project Mooncircle, the Supershark EP, is a hectic array of electronic mayhem with synths, bleeps and heavy beats. This release stands apart from the crowd with its exceptional layering of anarchic sounds over strong, unwavering, hip-hop-influenced beats and breaks. Here's a funky introduction to the two man band Duoya from Sweden. Butter is their debut release, a three tracks EP containing two songs from the upcoming album and one exclusive. As they are perfecting their debut full length album we thought to introduce the project to you with this super limited 7" vinyl to mark the day.

Duoya is the funky brainchild of Gustav Horneij and Dimitrios Karatzios. The two met through a shared obsession with jazz vinyls and later started jamming, eventually forming Organic Pulse Ensemble together. While the project in time would turn into Gustav's one man venture, their creative chemistry was still there when they decided to start sending recordings and song sketches back and forth during the spring of 2020. Which in turn was the beginning of a new musical journey.

Harboring the creativity of both artists, Dimitri being an illustrator as well as a musician and Gustav being a multi-instrumentalist and a song writer. When they get together only good things happen. Specially while jamming, they express themselves freely and come up with crazy groovy music that everyone loves to vibe on.

In expectation for the amazing upcoming album that is in the works, Butter turned out to be the perfect appetizer to get in the mood and discover this brand new project with the complicity of Urban Waves Records.

Yesterday & Tomorrow is more than just a beat tape. It’s the personal story of Val Murray’s gender transition. Evolving beautifully over three acts, each of the 15 songs is a necessary moment in an emotional arc that begins with Murray’s self-revelations at the start of the pandemic, through to her gradual acceptance and self-actualization in the summer of 2021.

The first act, discovery, is about Murray’s first steps into her transition, developing an acute awareness of her own gender dysphoria, or as she describes it: “searching for the keys to your true self and coming up empty handed.” In this act it’s fitting that beats like psilocybin and opal feel foggy and vaporous. trees featuring Floco Torres, asks us to ponder our undeniable inner truth and outer truth, so we can stay in touch with the world around us. Torres’ incisive lyrics on trees are an extension of an hour-long conversation with Murray after the police shooting of Jacob Blake, painting an intense picture of self-discovery in disorienting times. To end the act, Dysphoria sunshine and drown take us deeper into Murray’s 8 to 9 month period of dysphoria before glimmers of hope appear.

In act two, reflection, we are with Murray as she finds herself at the bottom of a proverbial mountain she doesn’t know she can climb. Dealing with new realizations about her true gender identity, a final grad class in theoretical computer science that feels beyond her capabilities, and a late in life autism diagnosis, she has no choice but to push herself further than she’s ever gone before. This is where she ascends, expanding her mind and growing more firm in who she is. Songs like the girl in the mirror and ikigai, show light entering through the clouds, and along with it, a new purpose for Murray: “live as me.” With prism, a track that began before her transition, Murray sees the world through her new self with life-affirming vividness and meaning.

In the final act, we enter the most recent stage of Murray’s transition: actualization. This is a stage on-going today, one full of questioning: what does it means to be oneself? What assumptions are accurate? What’s been an act all along? It’s a period of her life, and on the album, that’s deconstructive and lighter in tone, all while being abstract. Songs like parallel are meant to occupy two realities or timelines: the then and the now (the now being the only timeline that matters.) With the penultimate thank you, Murray creates an ode to close friends who’ve been supportive all along, whose positivity continue to bring comfort. Finally on see u again, Murray leaves us with a peaceful yet dissonant closer about living your truth and everything that comes with it. Including all the bad feelings that can creep in from time to time.

Yesterday & Tomorrow is a beat tape like no other, an intimate epic about Murray’s past and future. Although deeply personal, there’s a message for all of us to internalize: no matter how dark things get, there’s always hope. Even when you think it’s completely out of reach.

Oonops's first encounter with Japanese producer Shin-Ski dates back six years when he asked him for an exclusive guest mix for his show on Brooklyn Radio. He became aware of him years ago through his group ShinSight Trio with Insight and DJ Ryow a.k.a. Smooth Current. After one more mix and two collaborations on his Resense-series plus »Oonops Drops - Vol.1« compilation via Agogo Records they started working together on a whole album of instrumentals.

For this 45 Oonops had the chance to dig through an amount of unreleased tracks and selected some of the essential essences with different influences from Jazz, Soul, Funk and much more.

Italian Jazz Fusion quartet H-Owl Project are releasing their next single ‘Sea of Tranquility’ via the alternative label Group BraCil. The two-track release realises the groups’ modern jazz roots, but with shades of Progressive Rock, Soul and Hip Hop all being present throughout. Founded in 2019 of Apulian and Lucanian descent, the four piece is made up of Rossella Palagano (Vocals), Nicolò Petrafesa (Piano), Vito Faretina (Bass) and Graziano Pennetta (Drums). The group had recently been making waves at the 2019 Novi Sad Jazz Marathon in Serbia and even went on to win the Onyx Jazz Festival as best musical act in the same year. Alas, Covid has made a group that once thrived on the environment of live music now start to venture the dark resources of the web to make their music heard

On April 23, 2021, Degiheugi will present his 8th album entitled "Foreglow". Cold Busted has reached into the funky depths to discover trog’low and his fantastic new album Midnight Calisthenics. Based in Toronto, trog’low has previously appeared on Cold Busted’s IWYMI series as well as his well-received debut album Mellow Feats. He’s gained attention with a deft combination of the old timey and fresh aesthetics, as boom-bap beats and deep jazz intermingle. trog’low’s refusal to follow production fads and trends gives his music a classic, timeless feel — with Midnight Calisthenics, he’s delivered an album that’ll linger.

The opening “Soul Vibes Summit” sets the scene. The time-warped sounds of an audience applauding a jazz combo are joined by phat old school rhythms and delicious vibraphone riffs. “Ballin' '72” keeps up the crucial jazz vibe, adding hardy horns and cool guitar chords. Dal Bosco & König orchestrate a secret agent crime story in 4 thrilling chapters. The two Munich natives and members of the band “ooi” are fully set on analog tape, acoustic soundscapes, warm textures and melodic moogy wonkiness. And yet, the synthesized sound of the 80’s keeps sipping through and creates a symmetry of sound with the percussive appeal that is inherently present in the production style of the two live musicians.

Chapter 1: "Rope" Miami. Life is good when you’re living so close to the sun. Last night’s party was a drift. The go-fast city seems suspiciously calm from out here on this sunny Sunday morning though. Whatever. Gentle surf makes me doze off again. I’m not ready to leave this boat. Not yet.

Chapter 2: "Edgar" Edgar went missing. This just in. Tore me out of my dreams. And they chose me to find him. I’ve trained for this. Bootcamp like a madman, fast & furious. I’ll take the private jet to Mumbai later today.

Chapter 3: "Dead Lions" Edgar a double agent? Naw. This makes no sense. Yet all evidence makes me doubt I ever knew this person in the first place. This scumbag. Makes me chase him around the globe just to find out he’s training goddamn lions in the soviet backlands to plan a coup against the president, aha. I need more information. This doesn’t add up. The early days of the iconic Bristol Sound are captured in a new album including an exclusive re-release of the very first track from Massive Attack and tracks from Smith & Mighty, Purple Penguin and more. The curated tracks are also linked in that all were originally released with bespoke original covers from legendary Bristol street artists, including Banksy and Will Barras, tying its release toVanguard’s current exhibition Bristol Street Art: The Evolution of a Global Movement at M Shed, Bristol, running until October. Compiled by DJ Boca 45 (Scott Hendy), Vanguard brings together the seminal tracks that defined the rebellious era which saw the birth of the Bristol Sound for the first time. Kicking the album off, "loss of identity" is a heavy, grandiose trip-hop track the submerges the listener into the cosmic world of Jabbu. Calm ambient moments are sprinkled throughout, like on the delirious cut "Slumped in the rain" or during the second half of "Space Ethos". Chaotic and gritty synths pepper tracks like "bad Time" and "a lifetime of regrets". One of the nicest beatmakers and diggers in the game blesses Herring [or Hearing] with a collection of 24 killer instrumentals for your head nodding pleasure. Included are all the tracks from the Chipped Hearing Collection Plate Vol 1 7″ EP from 2019. Slam it on and hit a 20 sack yo!!!!

Speiz Bois is a trio of three seasoned Hungarian musicians active in countless other projects (think of the already cult Jazzbois outfit) playing a unique fusion of hip-hop, spaced out psychedelic grooves and melancholic 80's guitar sounds. 'SpeizBanger' on side A is one of those timeless songs that are hard to be described, but we are pretty sure this is what an imaginary demo by random members of BadBadNotGood and Khruangbin, recorded in a smokey Budapest home studio would sound like. 'BreakBottle' on the flip starts off as a more conventional live groove until the ethereal synths and guitar harmonies come in, from then it sounds like the fictional demo described above. The single is limited to 300 copies.

The Invisible Architect is the third full-length album by like minded production duo and long-term friends 1000 Names. Unlike their previous releases, which focused more on technology and machinery, they drew their inspiration for this album from the unconscious moments that just happen during live shows or studio improvisations, those happy accidents when the music emerges out of the chaos with no traceable origin. In these unconscious moments, it seems, the invisible architect – a mysterious natural power – creates this untouched and raw music, almost like the geological formation of rocks in a mountain or the trees in a forest are formed by the fundamental forces of nature.
In their own words: “It’s a mystery where the music comes from and why it sounds the way it does. We look for the answer in the garden of the invisible architect – and try just to be…“

‘The Mesektet’, in ancient egyptian mythology, is one of the two solar boats used by the sun god ‘Ra’ to travel through the cycle of night and day and carry the moon across the sky. It is told that he died every dusk, had to fight the dark forces of the underworld and bring light to the dead souls as he passed through – just to be reborn in the morning. (“there is no band”, Mulholland Dr. 2001) pretty much sums up where 40 Winks aims to go with its instrumental hip hop: meticulously chop and paste samples together, to create an atmosphere of beats and vibes which steps beyond unimaginative loops. 40 Winks hit the scene in 2002, with a whole slew of laidback beats. Eager to share their sound with the world, they released a couple of albums independently. The attention they got from this, allowed them to build with people from around the world. One of these independently released albums, More Than Loops, got reissued in Japan on Swamp Records, after that the ball kept rolling. On their first worldwide release, Extended Pleasure on Escapism Records (2005), they reached listeners well beyond the (instrumental) hip hop community with the song “Melancholia”. After appearances on compilations, like Weapons Of Hope on Little-D (2006), they got a chance to do their thing on the renowned label, Merck Records with Sound Puzzle (2007). All this led them back to Europe, where the German based Project: Mooncircle welcomed them with a spot on the compilation Heart On The Right Spot (2007) and a full album The Lucid Effect (2008). In 2009 they took some time off, doing solo stuff and remixes. In 2011 40 Winks is back with a double LP called It’s The Trip (2011) on Project: Mooncircle.

Krisengebeat (born 1980) is a Beatmaker, DJ, Rapper and Graffiti artist born and raised in Berlin, Germany. His strong passion & love for the Hip-Hop culture emerged in the early age instantly after hearing his big brother spinning many oldskool rap albums like "Raising Hell" by RUN DMC...

When Onyx "Bacdafucup" was released in '93 this LP had a strong influence on Krisnegebeat. Hardcore Hip-Hop along with black hoodies became his thing! In 1997 he started to drop bombs on the neighbourhood walls with chrome & black letters.

Krisengebeat experienced his first grooves by playing the real drum set back in the days. His first analog sampler / multitrack recorder was a Roland SP-808 combined with "two turntables and a mic" and some other studio gear. After trying to combine sounds for the first time on a borrowed MPC 2000XL it became his passion! He is surrounding himself with dusty drums and samples until this day!

In the early 2000's he started to record his first rap album "Nur die Besten Überleben" as a member of the German rap group Kritische Disstanz. This project was released 4 years later in collaboration with Berlin based Teroa Label by Akte One. This was also the first LP mastered by Chillerdt in the BKStudio (Berlin) and many more followed after! This collaboration tightened over the years and last until now!

One day at the beginning of the recent worldwide mix up which affected most of us, this led to a decision between moving to the studio and chill with the closest ones or just let it flow and push the pads on MPC Renaissance and start to release some instrumental music using extra free time in a productive way. That was definetely a good decision and after a plenty of motivating feedback it became the master plan to create the “ILL Vibe” instrumental LP!

Krisengebeat's - "ILL Vibe" album as a whole piece is a 34 minutes long journey through dimension of sounds inpired by the 90's Boombap golden era and filled with pure Hip-Hop flava which is now alive more than ever! Hard hitting drums combined with 12 bit samples and original noises of analog machines like the Akai S950, real vinyl crackles and all that highlighted with analog mastering! Enjoy the ride y’all!

After a Classic/Defected release and a string of edit projects/remix work Snips returns to his own Barbershop Records for his latest release "Blasphemy", a project drawing solely on Gospel samples from Snips' personal collection. Barbershop sticks with the theme of re-imagining the past to create something new while continually offering an alternative to todays mainstream. With Gospel music being the least commodified of its contemporaries yet the most essential element of them all, it would seem the perfect sample source for a Barbershop release and a sonically perfect fit for Snips' brand of Hip Hop, Soul & House inspired beats. From future club friendly anthems like "Feed The People" and "Feel The Spirit" to the true school Boom Bap sensibilities of "Pattersons Pilgrims" and "Never Waltz Alone" this release has all bases covered.

Japanese beat maker Yuki Kitano’s commitment to music began when he was thirteen, crediting skateboarding culture as his intro to the sound of hip hop. Better known as NICKELMAN, he started making beats with a MPC2000XL and later in 2008 established the independent record label deepconstructionrecords in his home city of Osaka. Along with his close crew of artists, the label released several NICKELMAN, Sugarau and Frogman records to name a few. Working collaboratively with fellow beat maker Frogman, the duo began putting out music under Freemanz Production.

NICKELMAN’s work is inspired by the likes of rare groove, jazz, soul, and beat culture. As a follow up to his 2020 release titled Butterwax, he is set to release Mangoes, a twelve track instrumental LP, in May 202`. Using an MPC2000XL, SP-303, and Tape Echo, the record was produced entirely in NICKLEMAN’s home studio. Each track was recorded on to cassette tapes and then compressed.

Mangoes is full of fine beats and will certainly attract hip hop junkies and vinyl diggers around the world.

After releasing his first beat & instrumental album “Alltimers” in 2020, Berlin based multi-talent V.Raeter is back and kicking off the champagne for his upcoming sophomore LP “Sunday on a Monday” – this time released via Kabul Fire Records, also known as the nourishing home of high class instrumental releases in proud HipHop fashion. Radio Juicy proudly presents Vienna aka Liam Mansfield, a young Canadian producer and beat maker hailing from Montreal. Drawing inspiration from Jazz, funk and beats, his music is often described as "crunchy" and alternative. Shared Space was produced during lockdown in 2020 and is an album encompassing Liam's feelings over a heavily charged year. At times sharing space can evoke feelings of claustrophobia, but it can also often be the opposite as being surrounded can be a very positive thing. This album explores the different states we've all been through during a crazy year, and thanks to some original features and collaborations the album ends up feeling far from locked down.

This is a great project for Radio Juicy to kickstart the new year right! Bringing together an handful of artists to deliver only the best sound. Vienna has his very unique and personal style and we think his originality is what makes him a fantastic producer.

This project started from beats videos, where I had the most fun making music during this weird period that impact creativity and inspiration. I added some of my favorites beats, blended together in a 16 minutes mix oscillating between short and longer pieces. It went from the idea to the final product in the shortest amount of time, and it was exactly what I wanted, what I was looking for: something that was particularly effective, memorable, and familiar: something that just ring the bell.

In celebration of the exit of the most trash president in the history of the United States, SCM brings you 14 flips of possibly the most sampled song in hip hop. Masterfully mixed together by one of the greatest dj's on Earth, this will be a document that will stand the test of time. Limited to 500 copies and a one time pressing, this is a must have.

Musical off-season is over now, because Brenk Sinatra opens the summer semester at his Boss Spieler University. It continues Summer 2019’s sequel of the Midnight Ride series seamlessly. It’s no coincidence that the album is to be released during the summertime, as it is heavily inspired by a Dirty South flavor of the 1990s, well brought into the year 2021 by Brenk. Which sound could fit a hot, hopefully post-pandemic summer better?

The term “Boss Player” (Brenk Germanized the term into “Boss Spieler”) is omnipresent in the lyrics of the above-mentioned protagonists of Westcoast and Down South rappers all through the 90s and defines the feeling captured within the album like no other term. Playas and Playarettes of the world are able to graduate from Brenk Sinatra’s Boss Spieler University from July 9 on.
