The Philly hip-hop veteran RJD2 will return with a new album this spring. Titled "Dame Fortune", it features guest vocalists including Son Little, Phonte Coleman, Blueprint and more. Narrated by A Tribe Called Quest member Ali Shaheed Muhammed—as DJ for fictional local Oakland radio station K-NOW—the album’s story unfolds under his all-seeing eye. Busta Rhymes makes an appearance as the story’s villain, Womack, on “Womack’s Lament,” while William Hart of the legendary vocal soul group, The Delfonics, lends his buttery falsetto to the contemplative “Another Side of You.” Snoop Dogg drops knowledge on the situation between Stoney and Womack with an ice cold verse on the title track “There Is Only Now,” and Scarub from Living Legends goes in on “Stone Cold.”

Deltron 3030 The Instrumentals is the sibling of Deltron 3030's legendary
self-titled debut and an experience all its own. Since the record’s release
in 2000, Deltron 3030 has moved into the pantheon of greatest recordings
of all time, of any genre. Del’s Deltron Zero persona certainly has much to
do with the release’s setting in a dystopian future. But beyond that, and
beyond the great guest appearances the foundation of that setting is the
sonic landscape presented by Dan The Automator. The Instrumentals
puts the focus on the mood forged by The Automator’s soundscapes

In an effort to try to do some good in the world, we gathered the fam to put together a mega compilation in order to raise some money to help people in Syria. 100% of proceeds will be donated to help support the White Helmets, people dedicated to saving lives affected by the ongoing war.

The Content Label, Los Angeles’s ‘experiential’ hip hop imprint, rarely signs an artist based on a demo, but an impressive delivery from Japan recently broke the trend. Recorded by Salty – AKA Tokyo-based producer / videographer Naoya Ninomiya – the demo arrived as a nearly complete object, ready for dissemination to the global hip-hop headz-space. The songs have been mastered by legendary Japanese hip-hop studio engineer ‘The Anticipation Illicit’ Tsuboi and, with Dday One acting as executive producer it is now ready to be unveiled as the thirteen track album Camera. It’s a fantastic audio journey that gives a glimpse into Japanese beat-making prowess while sitting proudly within the instrumental hip hop echelon. With “Camera”, Salty showcases a diverse set of styles and an acumen for rhythmic patterns and tone, developed through his years of crate-digging and experimentation. And there are many moments to claim as highlights … “Remonoganac” with its gentle piano, atmospheric textures, and tough beats; the laid-back hip hop funk and scratches of “ADSL”; the smoky downtempo vibe of “The Sea Came At Midnight” is reminiscent of sounds of classic Dj Krush; and “Melting In The Dark” with its cinematic layers and haunting vocal. Fresh from the success of the "Soundsational" album, Soundsci are back with the instrumentals from their album, which will also include instrumental versions of two new remixes from their upcoming "Soundsci Styles b/w Coastin’" remixes 45 single.

Berlin Zoo’s debut LP "Super Bad Disco" is the result of a chance encounter between three Danish beatheads (I Kicked A Cloud Once, Shatter Hands, and Fou Fou) in the German capital. The record is steeped in Soul and Jazz, with an uncanny view to both the past and future of instrumental Hip Hop, and a deliciously obscure sample selection. Straight killer, no filler, carefully sequenced and arranged. Highly recommended!

Samiyam returns to Stones Throw again. “Pizza Party” is Sam's second album on the label.
Samiyam’s Pizza Party is 24 minutes of off-kilter mobster music mixed with a warm soul sound that is unmistakably the trademark of L.A. producer and beatmaker Samiyam. Sam’s independent beat tape ventures and instrumental albums are revered by many rappers as respected by producers.
“Pizza Party” is free of samples from the characteristically dusty vinyl grooves and beloved past recordings. Instead, you’ll find originally-played synthesizers and FX in unison with the off-the-grid drum patterns and typical Samiyam sonic swagger. “What Can I Do,” was co-produced by Jonwayne.
Samiyam grew up Sam Baker in Michigan. Soon he became part of a post “Donuts” producers network focusing on instrumental hip-hop beats, who found themselves migrating west and huddling in the scene around Low End Theory in East Los Angeles. That's when Flying Lotus and Samiyam met and Rap Beats Vol. 1 was released as Samiyam’s debut album on Brainfeeder in 2008.

“A Safe Place to Be Naked” is S.Fidelity’s debut album, which will be released on May 5th via Jakarta Records. It features 12 tracks, capturing the producer’s quest for a fresh sound, which he elaborated over the last two years, locked in his tiny basement studio in Berlin. Evolving from there the he has also released an EP with Feelin Music in 2014, and “Sidekicks”, a joint project with long-term friend and collaborator Bluestaeb in 2016.
By working with artists like Tru Thoughts singer Harleighblu and label mate JuJu Rogers as well as fellow producers Bluestaeb and Shuffle Jack, his LP “A Safe Place to Be Naked” plays with sampled vocals and even his own voice – often distorted, but still present.
S. Fidelity was born in St. Gallen, Switzerland, mainly works in Berlin and currently resides in London. As a producer he developed a unique and always driving sound, combining sampling techniques and classic beat making with unusual drum patterns, modern synth and atmospheric sound effects. S. Fidelity’s laid-back eclecticism is marked by a deep knowledge and fascination for Pop culture as a whole. His idea of fresh HipHop references to various genres, including Jazz, Ambient, Disco and Electronica.

This is pleasingly evident on Volta, the latest Boogie Belgique album for the Cold Busted label. “Jungle Law” gives a glimpse into Boogie Belgique’s sonic palette. Tough hip hop beats and funky live guitar follow an intro of jungle ambience as a trumpet presents the melody. Soon some swingy big band jazz enters the song in an almost ghostly manner, while the insistent beat keeps the dance floor moving. Album opener “Go Slow” shows a different side to the coin giving the listener an uptempo broken beat rhythm, some bouncy bass guitar, snippets of string loops, and a lovely, forlorn vocal line that echoes the past. It’s a beautiful concoction, and Boogie Belgique delivers on many aspects of this style throughout his eleven track album. Volta is a satisfying trip in an aural time machine.

Old Souls Carnival is the most accomplished Medline’s album so far, presenting his new direction in composition and his multi-instrumentalist approach. The project is driven by a strong spiritual background with a deep 70's soul jazz fusion influence, raised into a movie soundtrack dimension.

KingUnderground presents the debut album - Instrumental beat tapes Volume 1-2, produced in 2008-2009 from Swedish producer Sun Raw aka SRAW.

The ”Beat Week” concept came about in 2008 when Myspace still was the main internet platform for spreading independent music. SRAW wanted to use the social media platform to his advantage and make a release that was adapted to the specific ways of posting music and maintaining an audience on Myspace. He came up with the idea to publish one song a day for the duration of a week so that it would exist as a whole in the Myspace player after the week had passed.
The beats were simply named after the day it was published, making the final beat tape hold 7 tracks. Beat Week #1 was received very well so a year later Beat Week #2 was released in the same way. Around this time Myspace had lost most users to Facebook, and Soundcloud slowly began to take over as the new platform for musicians.

After a couple of years without a new solo release & makin moves with his
Betty Ford Boys Brenk & Dexter, it was time for Suff Daddy to lay another
egg in the form of a new album entitled „Birdsongs“.
Deeply rooted in the Suff Daddy signature sound, it is also proof of an
evolutionary process. A little less sample chops, a little more synth, a little
less straight hip hop, a little more melody. This doesn’t mean that you won’t
be able to recognize the bird by its call anymore, it’s just a slight change in
tonality.
After extending his stomping grounds to neighboring European countries by
frequently playing international shows, including a London Boiler Room, he
also opened for the mighty Anderson.Paak during his German shows in
early 2016. Suff Daddy also remixed Lion Babe's “Wonder Woman” for
Gilles Peterson Worldwide. He'll also be featured on the next “Spring in
Jakarta“ compilation.
The album features some of the fellow birds Suff Daddy is known to fly
with. Betty Ford Boy's Dexter adds drums and baselines, and Mayer
Hawthorne delivers some vocals.

After the sucess of their collaborations on Bentley Bass Music and Trad Vibe's compilations, as severals DJs gigs in Europe, long time friends Dj Cam and Moar teamed for Beats.

Since the issue of the collaborative album with rapper Freddie Gibbs -
Piñata, already being hailed as contender for rap album of the year - we’ve been asked countless times to issue the beats Madlib created for the
project as instrumentals. And we've conceded. Piñata put Gibbs in the
spotlight, one that a growing audience is finally acknowledging that he
deserves. On Piñata Beats, though, it’s Madlib, quietly spinning on the center stage. Through seventeen cuts of arcane film snippets, dusted funk and soul, psych and prog rock musical diversions, Madlib proves to live up to what Gibbs once said of him: “Madlib quite simply, is music.”

LIT is a snapshot of Bluestaeb und JuJu Rogers' musical endeavors in Fall 2016. Both had a successful 2015 & 2016 with highly acclaimed albums and a European support tour of Oddisee for JuJu Roogers. Both musicians are working on new solo albums and both of them are not happy with having the "boom bap" stamp forced on them. Their perspective is about progression, live music, changing the formula and going new ways. This doesn’t mean that they’re blindly following trends but to question and adapt one’s own formula. In the case of lit it means adding live musicians to the equation, going for a sound that refines the direction they took on their previous releases.

With regard to content, JuJu's raps on the project deals with the important questions of our time. The trend word „lit“ becomes „LIT“, an abbreviation for "lost in translation" and a metaphor for the disconnection from trends of our society in general and hip hop especially. Racism, police brutality, gangsta rapper turning activists while still following a pattern of hate and destruction. Bluestaeb’s productions fluctuates from soulful and smooth to raw and gritty without sounding redundant or interchangeable.

Originally announced before J Dilla’s death in 2006, "Jay Love Japan" was finally released in ’07, giving fans of the revered hip-hop producer (aka Jay Dee, born James Yancey) another sampling of his emotive and inventive aesthetic. Much of the posthumous album is steeped in Dilla’s vintage soul sound, as best exemplified by the cinematic “Can’t You See,” making it an intriguing addition to his impressive but tragically brief discography.

'Old Future Worlds' is the second full-length instrumental album from Danish producer Lord Akton.

For this release, Akton's inspiration was ignited by Northern European forests, ancestral thoughts, jazz legends and the idea of tomorrow.
Genre-defying, the sound can be described as "sample-based spiritual synth-electro".

The original album is considered a staple in the linear of Hip-Hop history and is the album that lead Funky DL to pursue his own two-decade career in the world of rap music. DL's new tribute serves as a beautifully presented homage for A Tribe Called Quest and Funky DL fans alike.

The Content Label presents a dynamic new split EP from Lex (de Kalhex) and Dday One, titled “Parallel Presence”. The EP’s title reveals some clues: ‘parallel’ refers to something similar to another, while ‘presence’ imagines a thing that exists but is not seen. These two producers, as kindred spirits, strive to work on this deeper level. Parallel Presence is an expressive step forward, presenting intricate beats, thoughtful samples, and otherworldly vibes colluding towards a mesmerizing whole.

Los Angeles based producer Dday One bookends the EP with “Key Signature” and “Moving Force”, displaying his undisputed acumen for rhythm construction and skillful arrangement. The opening track, in particular, is a beat-head’s manna, featuring a serpentine bass line, staccato vocals, and heavy piano riffs, all synchronized at a headnodic tempo. Alex Besikian aka Lex (de Kalhex) is a visual artist, producer, and MC, known as the co-founder of Paris’s Akromégalie Records and 1/3 of seminal French hip hop group Kalhex. His cuts “Brilliant Circles” – with its night owl drum beat, tinkling electric keys, and gentle horn line – and “Solstice” – featuring ringing tones, bluesy guitar riffs, velvet saxophone, and some serious rhythm play – uncannily compliment Dday One’s contributions, cementing “Parallel Presence” as an EP best ingested from front to back.

Visual and audio art also come together in the project’s cover design, which was a collaborative effort of the two producers. The Content Label aims to bring together distinct forms of expression, with sound, thought, and visual art combining through the imprint’s releases. “Parallel Presence” is just the latest evidence.

This one is called ‚Kaiju Dugu‘ and is not exactly dealing with his neighborhood (called Kiez) itself but the arrival of giant monsters (Kaiju) in his hood. The festivities (Dugu) surrounding this arrival give the inspiration to the dark soundscape of this Keats issue. It is obscure, gloomy and challenges the brain with twisted rhythm patterns, somwhere between, beneath or besides Madlib, El-P or Flying Lotus. Hundreds of records, a sampler and occasionally a Microkorg are the tools of choice, the ‚Kaiju Dugu‘ illustraion is by Q-Cut as well, the fresh frame is provided by V.Raeter as usual and Donald & Rave keep the Keats dropping, so what?!

The late, great J Dilla is widely regarded as one of the greatest Hip Hop producers of all time. An innovator who pushed the genre in new sonic directions, the Detroit native born James Yancey crafted timeless soundscapes for the likes of Slum Village, Busta Rhymes, Common, Erykah Badu, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, and many more. Since his death in 2006, Dilla's mother Maureen "Ma Dukes" Yancey has worked tirelessly to further her son's legacy, and her latest effort is the new posthumous album “Motor City”. Inspired by Dilla's beloved hometown, “Motor City” is a collection of rare and unreleased Jay Dee instrumentals, hand-selected and sequenced by Ma Dukes. Conceived as a "letter" to her son, “Motor City” is packaged in a limited-edition mailing envelope, complete with a handwritten message from Ma Dukes to J Dilla inside. Both CD and vinyl formats also include access to an exclusive mix of the album by Dilla's close friend J Rocc, a world-renown DJ and founder of the Beat Junkies.

Beat Art Department releases an EP with remixes from the upcoming album of the Vienna DJ and producer Urbs by Retrogott, Brenk Sinatra and Cookin' Soul.
Retrogott aka Kurt Hustle from Cologne, who completely reshaped the track "10.000 Years Behind Me", is one of the most important representatives of
German Independent Hip Hop ever since the mid-2000s. Collectors spend a small fortune for his 2007 debut album “Jetzt Schämst Du Dich!”, which
has become the blueprint of German rap. He has remained popular, even when he changed his name.

It has been eleven long years since Urbs dropped his last album which was called “Toujours Le Meme Film”. Back then, the musician, DJ and producer created the soundtrack to a fictitious Film Noir, which was released on Kruder & Dorfmeister‘s G-Stone Label, but after touring Europe he almost completely retreated from public life. He does not consider his creativity as
being his career, but rather as a part of his life which rarely is subject to concrete planning, and that is why Urbs quite consciously took his time to create his latest –untitled- album.

Urbs: “A lot of people totally appreciated my last album “Toujours Le Meme Film”, and over the years I’ve learned that it really means a lot to some of them. Which was a burden, because, obviously, you do not want to disappoint these people. By now, I think enough water went down Danube river to perhaps surprise some of them with something completely new.
Those who know me know that I’ve always simply produced dope hip hop
tracks.”

This time, as a consequence, this is no all instrumental album but a collection of 12 soulful hip hop tunes that feature some handpicked vocalist
of the international rap, dancehall and soul scenes. On the album right next to EMC’s Wordsworth or R.A. the Rugged Man from New York, you will hear Ward 21 from Kingston, Jamaica, Voice Monet from New Orleans, One Self’s Blu Rum 13 from Washington DC, as well as long time companions like Skero from Vienna or Blabbwona from the group Abstract Art, who now lives in Munich by choice.

There also is a simple answer to the question of why the album has no title:
“This album, so to say, is my competitive exhibition in this field and owing to the endlessly long ripening process it is wonderfully and intensively boiled
down and on point. Therefore, no intros, no interludes, no title, no gimmicks, simply 12 good songs – period."
