Musical off-season is over now, because Brenk Sinatra opens the summer semester at his Boss Spieler University. It continues Summer 2019’s sequel of the Midnight Ride series seamlessly. It’s no coincidence that the album is to be released during the summertime, as it is heavily inspired by a Dirty South flavor of the 1990s, well brought into the year 2021 by Brenk. Which sound could fit a hot, hopefully post-pandemic summer better?

Once again, Brenks new album is filled with vibes and spheric sounds. One can surely hear Brenks considerable collection of vintage synthesizers as well as new, sung elements – analogue Vocoders, as well as a Talkbox, which is used by Brenk himself on almost every song to sing hooks and vocal parts. Of course, you can also find the typical wah-wah guitars, cowbells and booming 808s. The term “Boss Player” (Brenk Germanized the term into “Boss Spieler”) is omnipresent in the lyrics of the above-mentioned protagonists of Westcoast and Down South rappers all through the 90s and defines the feeling captured within the album like no other term. Playas and Playarettes of the world are able to graduate from Brenk Sinatra’s Boss Spieler University from July 9 on. Instead of books and laptops, you will need casino dices and cool drinks as correct learning utensils.

Boyan is a producer, DJ and radio-host hailing from Bulgaria’s capital Sofia. With more than 1M plays across all major DSPs in just the last 12 months alone, the producer saw support by both official editors (2 times feature in Apple Music’s BEATstrumentals) and independent curators like Indie Shuffle, Sidekick, College Music, The Jazzhop Cafe, Chill Beats Music, freshgoodies and Hip Dozer.

Closure is a centerpiece in the sonic universe he has been creating since joining the Stereofox Records family. A micro-cosmos within, the genre-bending 5-track EP follows a series of events and spans beyond the borders of sound. The producer uses the release to share his story and the flow of emotions that have been building up since the start of last year.

Besides the digital release which comes with a radio promotion and social advertising, Boyan alongside the creative team of Stereofox, has planned his first-ever vinyl pressing, a limited merch drop, and a release party. All of that designed to enhance the experience of Closure.

Because this is very intimate and personal release, this is the storyline written by Boyan for anyone who wants to truly submerge into the world of the EP.

The Big Drum Beater is back with another adrenaline-filled project aptly named the 45s EP. A veteran of this record game, a leader of the 45 RPM revolution from the beginning, the Bristol, UK native has made quite a name for himself slinging the little records with big holes all over the world. Whether it's making people jump up in the UK or blazing stages across the States or Europe, you can not recognize Boca's sound. And that sound is the drum. Building classic bangers around the many sounds of drums and percussion throughout his years, whether it be for a live set, television or film soundtrack, or his own vinyl record donut releases, he's consistent and on point. Always collaborating with the who's who and who you should know of the industry, he's back like Jordan with the 45 jersey.

Multi-disciplinary artist Leon Giseke, known to the international hip-hop and beat scene as Bluestaeb, releases the project of a lifetime with his self-titled album “giseke”. The album merges iconic R&B, funk and hip-hop productions with sharp lyrical contributions by some of 2021’s most promising vocalists. The LP, featuring Mick Jenkins, Ric Wilson, Uno Hype, Jerome Thomas and JuJu Rogers among many other vocalists, instrumentalists and producers, will be released via Berlin-based Jakarta Rec.

Bluestaeb's evolution from a beatmaker to a producer is his sophmore album “Everything is Always a Process”.

He is one of the key figures of a new generation of up and coming HipHop beatmakers, who have emancipated from genre thinking and instead merge old school aesthetics with a new school attitude and organic instrumentation.

Everything Is Always A Process re-iterates Bluestaeb's overall approach to life (and thinking), but also has direct reference to the making of the album itself, which began with moving from Berlin to Paris in 2015 in the search of new influences and a new creative environment.
Created between 2015 and early 2018, EIAAP embodies the process of this transition - as well as collaboration with instrumentalists and vocalists from all over the world and recording in different studios in Paris, London & Berlin.

Influenced by Madlib's "Shades Of Blue" and trained in African drum techniques such as Djembé and Daruka, Bluestaeb had been crafting his own beats since his teenage years and gradually found his sound identity through experimenting with HipHop and Jazz – first to be heard by a broader music community in 2013, when he released his debut album "1991 Extraterrestrial" (Radio Juicy). Since then the prolific young artist has released numerous solo and collaboration projects ("B.L.U.E. Friday" in 2015 and „Sidekicks“ with S. Fidelity in 2016). In 2016, he produced collaborative album "LIT - Lost In Translation“ with rapper JuJu Rogers, a keen manifesto against racism, xenophobia and the rise of anti-heroes such as Donald Trump.
Today, Bluestaeb lives and works in Paris and Berlin and is set to release his third solo album “Everything Is Always a Process”, a smooth Neo Soul-induced epic featuring artists such as Noah Slee, Harleighblu and Melodiesinfonie.

Wolf’s Clothing is the culmination of a years-long undertaking into what beatsmith, Batsauce refers to as “Dark Jazz” – moodier textures; muted instrumentation; whispers within the kaleidoscopic rhythms; untold stories coming to life by way of bending bass and drums. This Is an intentional body of work inspired by the legends that Batsauce discovered during crate-digging expeditions to be repurposed into his familiar environs. Across 20 instrumental tracks, Batsauce assumes the duality of bandleader and sideman, pulling from the archives of the greats to present what is as true a representation of Jazz and Hip-Hop’s long standing synergy in the present day. “Drivin’ Far Away” is not a way to avoid reality, but a process of going further to find your own paths, especially in harder times. A trip you don’t necessarily need to take alone. B Dom, Brous One and Greco Murillo found the route together in the search of a unique sound, crossing borders and finding travelers with different perspectives along the way.
With “Drivin’ Far Away” the three Chilean artists put together their first EP, a six-song selection with influences that ranges from Jazz, Funk, and Soul to Hip-Hop with a Lo-Fi aesthetic. It all began with Brous One looking for a team of musicians to create the perfect soundtrack to let you feel and release your emotions. A very intimate project with deep sensations and at times sexy feelings.

To round it all up, every single track was remixed by some of the best European producers at the moment. FloFilz, Psalm Trees, Philanthrope & Leavv, Retrogott, Spaze Windu, and Misha gave their own touch and perspective to make a good project even greater.

You have to know how to move away from the rich, strong and noisy streets, if you want to discover another Havana. A Havana far from the tourist circuits and preconceived images. A Havana where one discovers bucolic, but hard and stripped too after slow journeys in the crowded buses, a Havana with which Al Quetz maintains a passionate history since more than fourteen years.

Installed in one of those neighborhoods that can only be reached by going deeper into the alleys, from the open window of the studio comes the sound of banging drums and thumping bass. The sound reaches the streets on which the day rises.

The place wakes up in a growing tumult, with some rare engines coughing, conversations under the windows, songs of the street vendors , an urban ballet sets up as the sun darts its rays. Far from the musical clichés with percussions and horns, Cuba is an island bombarded with influences that one discovers. An island which vibrated for the jazz, the soul, the psychedelic rock , from the waves coming from the Caribbean to those of the bulky neighboring ogre. A musical flowering as varied as abundant that the glorious post-revolutionary label Areito has on thousands of recordings, and that Al Quetz has designated as the sole source of his samples to compose Habanologia.

From the ambiences that punctuate the local daily life caught by his samplers, he let the melancholy infiltrate his hip hop beats, the nostalgia melting in the depths of his grooves. Nostalgia in the Cuban air, even during moments of intense laughter, which never totally disappears.

Habanologia restores these moments when the song of the birds has extinguished those of the cars. Where, sitting on a doorstep, we comment on the life of the neighborhood, we watch the women's swaying at eye level. The whole day if necessary, the coffee at one peso, after a certain hour, which leaves its place to the Planchao rum. Wandering through its streets where a chance encounter can itself bring others and lead to the essence of the habanera life. From Regla, after a short trip on the bus-boat that crosses the bay, savor the end of the day, observe the capital from afar, let the nocturnal insects ensure some arrangements and drift towards mysterious horizons, bringing to the contemplation of the place and the moment.

A flute, a keyboard, percussions or a voice. Al Quetz also invited his friends from the island or elsewhere to decorate his productions with their live touch. To share with him this Havana for which he covered his tracks, mixed times and distorted space-time to make it timeless. When Ajax Tow travels in his Pop Western landscapes, you can be sure there’s always a perfect 70’s road trip soundtrack. Italians cowboys meeting the legendary Miriam Makeba in Rennes suburbs... For his 3rd album The Soul Vegetable Orchestra, Ajax Tow is bringing us on a ten tracks sonic adventure, where many inspirations and references collide. The succession of tracks inspires many feels and moods from sipping a good old bourbon, dance in the kitchen, or gallops though the plains of Napoli. We can found the influence of Danger Mouse paying hommage to the late Ennio Morricone (Roma, 2011), a cinematic side of Shawn Lee and Misha Panfilov, from music library à la JeanClaude Vannier to the Band Voilaa, a little glimpse of pimped Ninja tune, a reworked organic Mo’Wax vibe, all mixed up and spiced up with a Tricky style. This album is also the result of a collaboration with Dan Voisin (Modul-Club, Eighty…) at the production and drums with Rennes city scene musicians who gives a hand on this album: Romain Baousson (Coupe Colonel, Bikini Machine…) on drums, Sax Machine and Racecar (Saxtoys Records) on horns and vocals, Dj Marrrtin (Funky Bijou, Lord Paramour) on beatmaking, Medline (My Bags) on Flûte. As a special guest, the late and legendary Miriam Makeba appears on “Magic Miriam”. “Feel it” is definitely setting a west coast on the LP with a Jurassic 5 inspiration, accompanied by a spicy rhythm, MC Racecar (Sax Machine) flows and lyrics brings even more energy to the track. On “Movie” and “Silence”. Ajax Tow give us a nice taste of his favorite psychedelic blends, romantic and intimate at the same time, where we found back Fuzz guitar with 60’s Eric Clapton style (Cream era) and Pink Floyd synths Flavors. The cinematic style and first notes of “So What” reminds Air first EP and the beautiful bass of “Melody Nelson”. For the dessert, “Smallville” is a kind of wedding cake with 70’s loops sprinkling that brings us to Phillipe Sarde’s La Grande Bouffe soundtrack, but with a more contemporary feeling.
