Follow Plants is the third record by Limalo, the psychedelic beat music duo based in Austin, Texas composed of long-time friends Jesse Darling and Jordan Smith. After meeting at an alternative school in Fort Worth, Texas with an emphasis on nature, Limalo came into being with their first record Human Bloom in 2013, a melty reel-to-reel saturated ambient beat album which blended warped samples with warbly rhodes and droning synthesizers. Limalo plays on the surreal with samples from things like Alejandro Jodorowky’s “The Holy Mountain” and “Fantastic Planet”. While the record employs the signature sound of Limalo’s past output with its dreamy synth lines, dirty textures and wonky beats, it marks an energetic shift in heaviness from track to track. While still sprinkled with ambient, oneiric vignettes, Follow Plants strikes harder with thundering percussive layers, booming 808’s and crackling rimshots. Still, the album stays true to Limalo’s ambient core, capped at both ends by the intro title track Follow Plants, based around an idyllic 70’s flute & guitar cover of Erik Satie, and the final closing track Tap the Caapi, a sacred send-off of overlapping arpeggiations, performed flute and clarinet on top of a traditional Shipibo Icaro.

It feels like a very, very long time ago now. The songs came together in a way not too dissimilar to the first Kinder album. I just started with some random ideas and ended up with a compilation of my favorite tracks out of that creative time. The name “Timothy Grass” just refers to a place I had in mind when listening back to the record. Beautiful spring day, a personal tump, nice breeze, and a good pair of headphones to help the experience along."

Dal Bosco & König orchestrate a secret agent crime story in 4 thrilling chapters. Chapter 3: "Dead Lions" Edgar a double agent? Naw. This makes no sense. Yet all evidence makes me doubt I ever knew this person in the first place. This scumbag. Makes me chase him around the globe just to find out he’s training goddamn lions in the soviet backlands to plan a coup against the president, aha. I need more information. This doesn’t add up. None of it does. None of this makes sense.

Chapter 4: "Outro" Close. Too close. I know too much. Way too much. I gotta report back. But first, I gotta get back to civilization. I need a phone, food, a bath, sleep. Sleep. Why do my eyes feel so heavy all of a sudden, what’s happening? What was... in that drink? Zzzzz.

Compiled by DJ Boca 45 (Scott Hendy), Vanguard brings together the seminal tracks that defined the rebellious era which saw the birth of the Bristol Sound for the first time. Featured tracks include an exclusive re-release of Any Love - the first ever track by Massive Attack released on Massive Attack Records in 1988, Smith & Mighty’s breakout hit Walk On, Purple Penguin’s downtempo classic Memphis and other trip hop classics. The LP celebrates the globally recognised Bristol Sound whose experimental breakbeat rhythms and influence still dominate the scene today. The late, great J Dilla is widely regarded as one of the greatest Hip Hop producers of all time. Inspired by Dilla's beloved hometown, “Motor City” is a collection of rare and unreleased Jay Dee instrumentals, hand-selected and sequenced by Ma Dukes. Conceived as a "letter" to her son, “Motor City” is packaged in a limited-edition mailing envelope, complete with a handwritten message from Ma Dukes to J Dilla inside. In 2006, the slight buzz of a Brooklyn band called El Michels Affair started to sound a bit more like a swarm of killer bees when their instrumental rendition of Wu-Tang Clan’s “C.R.E.A.M.” was released as a 7” vinyl single. The band’s namesake Leon Michels and his production partner Jeff Silverman dropped the single on their boutique label called Truth & Soul, and it created such commotion that it would spawn an entire album of Wu-based covers. In honor of the 15th anniversary of that LP— “Enter The 37th Chamber”—the single is now getting its first vinyl repress in years. “C.R.E.A.M.” is featured on Side A, with its prominent guitars and powerful horns complementing the signature baseline and unforgettable piano hook that practically defined an era of New York hip hop. The B-side “Glaciers of Ice” offers a deeper, melancholic interpretation of the hard-driving “Cuban Linx” banger, with a mood consistent to the A-side, as the drums take a comfortable backseat to the melodic guitars and punchy horn lines. Originally released in 2009, El Michels Affair’s “Enter The 37th Chamber” LP on Fat Beats Records is celebrating its 15th Anniversary in 2024.

After the release of their critically acclaimed first album « Bluestaeb & S. Fidelity Present Underground Canopy » (menace - 2020), Underground Canopy (uc) was able to take time, due to the unforeseen period of doubt in 2020, to craft new compositions with a fresh approach. Throughout this forced period of introspection, the Parisian band experimented with more refined musical codes and colorful sounds.

Following the new additions of Raphaël Henry on drums and Christopher Johnson on electric guitar, UC was able to record and film a live rendition of four original pieces at the end of 2020, thanks to an invitation by the Centre des Arts d’Enghien-les-Bains’s artistic program and Sense. These music videos, each filmed in one shot by Romain Lalire, capture UC’s musical digressions away from their mainly hip-hop and groove-infused jams and into new territory.

The resulting new EP «Séquences : Live Session» celebrates cinematic aesthetics and the suspension of time. It stands as an audiovisual testimonial to the band’s continued progression. In this era marked by uncertainty but full of hope, what will come next?

Victor Gutierrez ; aka Vämps, an underground hip-hop producer, was Born in Brownsville and grew up in McAllen, TX. Italian Jazz Fusion quartet H-Owl Project are releasing their next single ‘Sea of Tranquility’ via the alternative label Group BraCil. The two-track release realises the groups’ modern jazz roots, but with shades of Progressive Rock, Soul and Hip Hop all being present throughout. Founded in 2019 of Apulian and Lucanian descent, the four piece is made up of Rossella Palagano (Vocals), Nicolò Petrafesa (Piano), Vito Faretina (Bass) and Graziano Pennetta (Drums). The group had recently been making waves at the 2019 Novi Sad Jazz Marathon in Serbia and even went on to win the Onyx Jazz Festival as best musical act in the same year. Alas, Covid has made a group that once thrived on the environment of live music now start to venture the dark resources of the web to make their music heard
