On 11 October 2010, Brainfeeder released the debut album by a 23 year old ex-skater, painter and music producer from Chino Hills called Teebs (real name Mtendere Mandowa). The title 'Ardour' means great enthusiasm, love or passion and was a fitting descriptor for his inherently warm, lushly textured beats. It’s an undisputed classic in the Brainfeeder canon and more widely considered an essential chapter in the ever-evolving puzzle of the global “beat scene”.

Brainfeeder and Teebs are celebrating the 10th anniversary with a limited special edition reissue of this landmark record. Pressed on deep pink 2LP and housed in a beautiful gatefold sleeve with artwork by Teebs himself, the new edition features six previously unreleased bonus tracks.

With roots at the ‘My Hollow Drum’ collective, Dublab and Low End Theory, Teebs has been a staple in Los Angeles music. “My creative family in LA is so important,” he explains. “It’s a part of who I am when I step outside and how others in LA view me. May 28th sees the 5th anniversary of Hubert Daviz' 2010 masterpiece „Proceduri De Rutina“.

The album was the first longform release by the Cologne-based producer.
"Proceduri De Rutina" was heavyly inspired by the Romanian jazz scene. The record started as a just-for-fun-beattape, after Hubert got hooked on the vintage jazz of his home country in late 2009. Call it magic, but the sample sources and Hubert's trademark sound fitted so well that the new music cried for a release. "Proceduri De Rutina" is a deep but chilled trip into Hubert Daviz's sound cosmos, inspired by some of the most obscure Eastern-European jazz you have never heard of.

To celebrate the 5th anniversary, Hubert has asked some of his producer friends to revisit the album together. Dexter, FloFilz, Wun Two, TBRCK, Max Graef and Hulk Hodn all delivered great interpretations.

The 5th anniversary edition will be released as a double LP using the original artwork by Robert Winter and Chicken George. The remix LP has it's own title "O Alta Perspectiva" and is packaged in a new cover by Robert Winter, shot at the same building where the cover photo for "Proceduri De Rutina" has been made.

Unlike all DJ Yoda’s artist albums, ‘Breakfast Of Champions’ features the same collaborators on every track effectively putting together a band. The genesis of the project was in Manchester, where the legendary Band On The Wall venue asked him to host an artistic residency. He put a call out for local musicians, did auditions, and selected three rappers. Two were local to Manchester - Truthos Mufasa and Sparkz. They were local legends making up parts of The Mouse Outfit and Lvlz. And the third was Rex Domino from down south, who was a British MC who Yoda thought would gel well with the other guys. They wrote, rehearsed and recorded intensively in Manchester - performed a memorable series of live shows (including an epic Glastonbury show), and Yoda put the finishing touches to the album back in London after the fact. “It was such an enjoyable experience” says Yoda. “Lifelong friendships were made, and most excitingly two of the band members got together (James Breen, drummer, and Claire Northey, violinist) and had two kids! So there are Breakfast of Champions humans out there too!” This new pressing features alternative artwork that was never used at the time of the album’s original release

egg in the form of a new album entitled „Birdsongs“.
Deeply rooted in the Suff Daddy signature sound, it is also proof of an
evolutionary process. A little less sample chops, a little more synth, a little
less straight hip hop, a little more melody. This doesn’t mean that you won’t
be able to recognize the bird by its call anymore, it’s just a slight change in
tonality.
After extending his stomping grounds to neighboring European countries by

The Content Label, Los Angeles’s ‘experiential’ hip hop imprint, rarely signs an artist based on a demo, but an impressive delivery from Japan recently broke the trend. Recorded by Salty – AKA Tokyo-based producer / videographer Naoya Ninomiya – the demo arrived as a nearly complete object, ready for dissemination to the global hip-hop headz-space. The songs have been mastered by legendary Japanese hip-hop studio engineer ‘The Anticipation Illicit’ Tsuboi and, with Dday One acting as executive producer it is now ready to be unveiled as the thirteen track album Camera. It’s a fantastic audio journey that gives a glimpse into Japanese beat-making prowess while sitting proudly within the instrumental hip hop echelon. With “Camera”, Salty showcases a diverse set of styles and an acumen for rhythmic patterns and tone, developed through his years of crate-digging and experimentation. LIT is a snapshot of Bluestaeb und JuJu Rogers' musical endeavors in Fall 2016. Both had a successful 2015 & 2016 with highly acclaimed albums and a European support tour of Oddisee for JuJu Roogers. Both musicians are working on new solo albums and both of them are not happy with having the "boom bap" stamp forced on them. Their perspective is about progression, live music, changing the formula and going new ways. This doesn’t mean that they’re blindly following trends but to question and adapt one’s own formula. In the case of lit it means adding live musicians to the equation, going for a sound that refines the direction they took on their previous releases.

With regard to content, JuJu's raps on the project deals with the important questions of our time. The trend word „lit“ becomes „LIT“, an abbreviation for "lost in translation" and a metaphor for the disconnection from trends of our society in general and hip hop especially. Racism, police brutality, gangsta rapper turning activists while still following a pattern of hate and destruction. Bluestaeb’s productions fluctuates from soulful and smooth to raw and gritty without sounding redundant or interchangeable.

KingUnderground presents the debut album - Instrumental beat tapes Volume 1-2, produced in 2008-2009 from Swedish producer Sun Raw aka SRAW.

The ”Beat Week” concept came about in 2008 when Myspace still was the main internet platform for spreading independent music. SRAW wanted to use the social media platform to his advantage and make a release that was adapted to the specific ways of posting music and maintaining an audience on Myspace. He came up with the idea to publish one song a day for the duration of a week so that it would exist as a whole in the Myspace player after the week had passed.
The beats were simply named after the day it was published, making the final beat tape hold 7 tracks. Beat Week #1 was received very well so a year later Beat Week #2 was released in the same way. Around this time Myspace had lost most users to Facebook, and Soundcloud slowly began to take over as the new platform for musicians.

S. Fidelity was born in St. Gallen, Switzerland, mainly works in Berlin and currently resides in London. As a producer he developed a unique and always driving sound, combining sampling techniques and classic beat making with unusual drum patterns, modern synth and atmospheric sound effects. S. Fidelity’s laid-back eclecticism is marked by a deep knowledge and fascination for Pop culture as a whole. His idea of fresh HipHop references to various genres, including Jazz, Ambient, Disco and Electronica.

Samiyam’s Pizza Party is 24 minutes of off-kilter mobster music mixed with a warm soul sound that is unmistakably the trademark of L.A. producer and beatmaker Samiyam. Sam’s independent beat tape ventures and instrumental albums are revered by many rappers as respected by producers.
“Pizza Party” is free of samples from the characteristically dusty vinyl grooves and beloved past recordings. Instead, you’ll find originally-played synthesizers and FX in unison with the off-the-grid drum patterns and typical Samiyam sonic swagger. “What Can I Do,” was co-produced by Jonwayne.
Samiyam grew up Sam Baker in Michigan. Soon he became part of a post “Donuts” producers network focusing on instrumental hip-hop beats, who found themselves migrating west and huddling in the scene around Low End Theory in East Los Angeles. That's when Flying Lotus and Samiyam met and Rap Beats Vol. 1 was released as Samiyam’s debut album on Brainfeeder in 2008.

The result, Tape Echo Gold Floppies. It tickles your senses with low fidelity rhythms, time warping space echo, rare world spices and psychedelic field recordings. Along with the project they’ve also released a 15-minute motion picture revealing the extraordinary story of how the record came to be; a dramatic piece involving ski accidents, black coffee magic and brutal fight scenes. The album is a combination of beats from the SP1200/S950 combo as well as dubs & effects from the Roland 201 Space Echo. Torb collects rare, obscure, world funk and rare groove records from India, Thailand, China & Japan. There are a bunch of dusty loops on the record made from his digs.
