After last year’s very successful collaboration “Cool” with Otis Jr. and his standalone project “Muneybeats”, Dr. Dundiff and Jakarta Records team up once more for the beatmaker’s next project called SGJAZZ, a supergroup formed and crafted by Louisville’s finest musicians.
Dr. Dundiff (done different) is a Hip-Hop/Neo-Soul producer based out of Louisville, KY. Producing music since 2010, Dundiff has released a lot of music. Most known for his ongoing collaboration with Otis Junior and their their debut EP “1moment2another” on Jakarta Records receiving wide daytime airplay and recognition from French tastemaker Radio NOVA, as well as 1.500.000 Mio. Streams via Spotify.
SGJAZZ however is a Neo-Soul/Jazz project: All single members and particpants play together as well as they have their own projects. The group spent off days at Dr. Dundiff’s studio in Louisville, KY, playing around and creating the first foundations of the record. Idris Frederick laid down multiple chord progressions over a course of a few days. Dundiff then chopped and arranged these progressions and played drums over them. From there on everyone else wrote their parts to rest of the music. This process was quite quick and efficient and the album was recorded within a few months already. Dundiff then reached out to up and coming vocalists J.Lamotta and longtime collaborator K.Raydio to each write to a song. Though this album is primarily instrumental, these two features further establish the vibe SGJAZZ effortlessly creates.

“A Safe Place to Be Naked” is S.Fidelity’s debut album, which will be released on May 5th via Jakarta Records. It features 12 tracks, capturing the producer’s quest for a fresh sound, which he elaborated over the last two years, locked in his tiny basement studio in Berlin. S. Fidelity was born in St. Gallen, Switzerland, mainly works in Berlin and currently resides in London. As a producer he developed a unique and always driving sound, combining sampling techniques and classic beat making with unusual drum patterns, modern synth and atmospheric sound effects. S. Fidelity’s laid-back eclecticism is marked by a deep knowledge and fascination for Pop culture as a whole. Wax Tailor finally returns after a long hiatus with his new album “By Any Beats Necessary”. The title references the Malcolm X phrase “By Any Means Necessary”, which was in turn inspired by Sartre’s play “Dirty Hands”. Without going too deep into politics, this reflects the will to use any type of sounds and textures to get to something musical. The word “Beat” also draws a line towards the Beat Generation, Kerouac’s famous “On The Road” novel, and this quest for a better elsewhere. And so, in this time when each of us needs a little escape, I conceptualized this album as a sort of soundtrack to a road trip among the great expanses.

Unlike all DJ Yoda’s artist albums, ‘Breakfast Of Champions’ features the same collaborators on every track effectively putting together a band. The genesis of the project was in Manchester, where the legendary Band On The Wall venue asked him to host an artistic residency. He put a call out for local musicians, did auditions, and selected three rappers. Two were local to Manchester - Truthos Mufasa and Sparkz. They were local legends making up parts of The Mouse Outfit and Lvlz. And the third was Rex Domino from down south, who was a British MC who Yoda thought would gel well with the other guys. They wrote, rehearsed and recorded intensively in Manchester - performed a memorable series of live shows (including an epic Glastonbury show), and Yoda put the finishing touches to the album back in London after the fact. “It was such an enjoyable experience” says Yoda. “Lifelong friendships were made, and most excitingly two of the band members got together (James Breen, drummer, and Claire Northey, violinist) and had two kids! 'Monologue' is a collaboration between the Berlin based producer Fred Red and the composer and multi-instrumentalist Malik Diao. With a highly experimental, but still soulful and honest approach to writing and producing music, the duo effortlessly fuses their respective sound aesthetics, culminating in a very distinct experience between jazz, instrumental hip hop, indietronica and world music.

Driven by the desire to create new sound worlds and to take their listeners on a singular journey, Malik Diao and Fred Red rarely rely on the use of samples. Rather, the formation prefers to build sonic sculptures out of Malik’s range of instruments (including various saxophones, flutes, basses, pianos and string instruments) and propelling these through musical time with Fred Red’s very unique and human drum and percussion style.

While they both enjoy making their listeners move to heavy drums and complicated rhythms, the duo also understands how to create quiet and personal moments in their music, with their works often moving from elegiac, even melancholy moments to a pure celebration of their own drives and determinations.

Vooo's words about "Same Old", My intention with this record was to refine a collection of the tracks most highly anticipated and requested by fans of my video content where I show the process of recording new songs. I selected each track not only on the basis of its connection with my audience, but also with the goal of curating a record full of emotive instrumental performances, positive moods and pure ear-candy. Many of these tracks were initially written as short-form “beat-video” content, and to transform the demos into full songs, I spent countless hours re-arranging, re-recording, and carefully mixing in a larger studio using high-quality vintage instruments and analog processing methods, particularly 8-track tape. The result is what I consider to be my most elaborate and well-crafted project which has been enhanced by the brilliant talents of the several featured instrumentalists and engineers involved.

Vooo is a multi-instrumentalist & producer originally from Los Angeles, currently based in Oakland. With a degree in music theory and a background in jazz, he has used his experience to dip into a number of genres, mostly in the world of hip-hop, R&B, and neo-soul. In addition to releasing two solo albums since 2020, he has executive produced a few full-length records for other artists and created sample packs to raise thousands in mutual aid for the Oakland community. Warbly, downtempo tape vibes feature throughout the release, a combination ripe for repeated, couch-bound listens. Like some of his contemporary UK peers (looking at you, Tom Misch and Jordan Rakei), the 27-year-old Austrian producer-turned-singer Wandl is a rare example of an artist that’s able to combine the groove and emotionality of soul music with colorful electronic textures and the exciting and youthful feel of hip-hop. His third solo album »Body Memory« works as an empowering statement of clarity and immediacy. Being blunt, it could be described as Wandl’s »pop album«, even though that might do a disservice to his craft. Still, to this day there is no work in his catalogue that allows Lukas Wandl, the human, that much space for presentation.

Recordings for »Body Memory« started even before his last album »Womb« was released in 2020. For Wandl, the process of working on it mirrors the idea of opening himself back up to a community. It all started when he found himself in a place of brokenness, physically and mentally drained, having to cancel a planned tour because of this. To overcome the resulting state of depression and hopelessness, he instigated a process of tuning back in with his environment and the world at large. »Body Memory« is the result of this inner journey, exploring the fact that stress and emotional injuries are stored in our bodies and therefore can only be expressed and given form through our bodies.

For »Body Memory«, Wandl worked with some of his usual peers from the Austrian scene, such as Dorian Concept, The Clonious, Fid Mella or Lex Lugner, but also his new partner-in-crime, German beatsmith Torky Tork, that co-produced almost half of the record. To let their joint creative spirits flow, they traveled to Poland to build a foundation of tunes, while others were written and recorded in Vienna, Berlin, the Austrian countryside and even the basement of Wandl’s parents’ place in St Pölten, Lower Austria. No surprise that this album has turned out a deeply collaborative work, as almost every track contains contributions from multiple musicians. Not forgoing the playfulness and innovation of his past records, Wandl moves his emotional, fragile vocals to the very front of the mix for the first time. In moving past his comfort zone, he breaks free from learned stereotypes of taste, writing slightly more conventional, but still extremely authentic songs. Working to regain access to his true inner voice and intuition, Wandl has written an album of sheer physicality, but also immense emotional depth and beauty.

Side A - Hybris The infinity of the universe. An extraterrestrial research mission emerges from a black hole - a passage between the worlds - and begins its travel to planet earth. One of the ships crashes upon arrival. The remaining spaceships explore the planet, abducting people for research purposes, leaving behind an array of astonishment and paranoia. UFO sightings are increasing, but the authorities deny it. Meanwhile, the aliens decode human biology and are able to create a hybrid: The Missing Link. The future is coming.

Side B - Nemesis Suddenly, world order is falling apart, and faith in humanity is lost when the subsequent alien fleet arrives. Attempts to explain any and all of it, and conspiracy theories wind up in delusion, chaos, fear, pain and vanitas in the presence of the unknown and overpowering. The discovery of a black hole sparks new hope and enlightenment: Time Is Only Space And Sky Is Not The Limit. And so the newly united humanity begins a final journey. The story finds its end with the silence in the passage through space and time - or is the end just the beginning?

KingUnderground presents the debut album - Instrumental beat tapes Volume 1-2, produced in 2008-2009 from Swedish producer Sun Raw aka SRAW.

The ”Beat Week” concept came about in 2008 when Myspace still was the main internet platform for spreading independent music. SRAW wanted to use the social media platform to his advantage and make a release that was adapted to the specific ways of posting music and maintaining an audience on Myspace. He came up with the idea to publish one song a day for the duration of a week so that it would exist as a whole in the Myspace player after the week had passed.
The beats were simply named after the day it was published, making the final beat tape hold 7 tracks. Beat Week #1 was received very well so a year later Beat Week #2 was released in the same way. Around this time Myspace had lost most users to Facebook, and Soundcloud slowly began to take over as the new platform for musicians.

What happens when a four-headed human drum computer meets a classical trained vilonist turned beatmaker to spend time in the studio? A beautiful lily blossoms. At least this was the case when Bokoya and FloFilz entered Atelier 21 in Aachen (a Produzentengalerie für globale Kunst) for a musical encounter with no goals set. The music that was born out of these sessions is simply amazing, and we are more than happy to release them as an album under the name “Yurika” - which is a Japanese name that means “beautiful lily”. The artwork was created by Jens Roth & Jeremias Diekmann who are responsible for almost all Bokoya artworks yet. The 19-track strong instrumental album includes one vocal track featuring Japanese singer Kan Sano. FloFilz is one of Europe's most acclaimed Jazzbeat-producers with four albums on MPM under his belt. His last album “Close Distance” came out in 2022 and featured artists Alfa Mist, Blue Lab Beats, Jerome Thomas and Summers Sons. FloFilz is a classical-trained musician who not only plays the SP 404 but also violin. Bokoya describe themselves as a four-headed human drum machine that play improvised beat music. You can call it jazz if you like (all four members are graduated jazz musicians) but be ready to stumble over some Dilla, Kraut Rock, Ambient or Dub in the mix. Hamburg based producer and drummer Silvan Strauss counts as one of the outstanding new
European jazz drummers who can easily shapeshift between jazz and its varieties ranging into urban
contemporary music. In the last years he successfully worked with the likes of Maria João, Soweto
Kinch, Omer Klein, Guinga, Farhot, Jazzrausch Bigband, Nils Landgren, Till Brönner. Strauss
channels the immense input gained by all the different collaborations into his own project Toytoy
where he produces and closely works with his band mates on their vision of experimental groove
music. Recently awarded with the Hamburg Jazz Award Strauss finally takes the step towards
releasing his very own solo-project “Facing” – it’s title paying tribute to the extraordinary mimics that
many drummers share. Curated alongside Kabul Fire Records founder Farhot this instrumental album
in hiphop/urban jazz fashion complements KFR-Releases in a very special way as Strauss represents
the organic and analogue side of beatmaking.

B-Side is one of the cornerstones of the german Instrumental-beats scene and has been here for a minute. His unique approach for cutting and programming drums made him well known and gave his music a very distinct touch. His last LP came out three years ago and since then he released a number of collaborations with other international producers, rappers and singers. But now it’s time to show the world his interpretation of modern Instrumental-beats. Of course is he a man of the classic retro jazzsound but his record „Inner Life“ is pushing boundaries to the next level. Rhythmical Trap patterns clash with head nodding Boom-Bap vibes. B-Side really took his time. Three years of constant work on the right sound for this album did certainly pay off. This Record takes you on a journey that is not your average sleepy sound. It is hypnotizing and straight up futuristic, both sonically- and productionwise. It just sounds grown up, but in a good way.

He gathered a bunch of his friends for some partial collaborations. Devaloop, Tesk, OG Nuage, Ødyssee and Flitz&Suppe are really contributing to the whole picture of „Inner Life“.

While the world is busy chasing the right sound for playlists, B-Side made an album that will stand the test of time. Purely good music by an artist that is passionate about his art. He mixed and mastered every single track and also took care of the complete artwork himself with photos shot by Flitz&Suppe. Inner Life is released on The Breed's WE RUN This Records.
