After the demise of the Ooga Boogas in the Before Time, the four band members went their very separate ways. Being in that band was such an intense high pressure experience, some chillax time was well-deserved. Leon Stackpole aka Stacky recorded under the name Leon, Per Byström joined Voice Imitator, Mikey Young recorded with The Green Child and Richard Stanley played in Drug Sweat. All quite deserving projects, but it was Stackpole’s solo outing that garnered the most interest from public and industry alike. The demand for live shows led him to recruit Byström from Ooga Boogas and a guy named Brad into his touring lineup. The trio was red hot, but inevitably the venues they filled required a fuller sound so Stackpole recruited Young as well on second guitar. The gruelling touring schedule became too much for family-man Brad, so Stanley jumped in to fill his size 11s and off they went for another lap of regional Victoria. Eventually the question presented itself to this freshly-minted foursome: should they continue as Stackpole’s backing band or strike out anew with a fresh identity? The answer came in a moniker too electrifying to resist; a name as clever, enigmatic and indeed, as powerful as the band itself: Power Supply. Back in the shed, jams became songs, jokes became lyrics and long afternoons spent together became this record—listen though, and one will hear life through the lens of Stackpole and the tactile tentacles of his pals. In The Time Of The Sabre-toothed Tiger contains ten songs that listen so easy, one will barely notice when they’re gone.

Bill Gage is a quasi-famous singer with a raw, rock ’n’ roll voice. Cheater Slicks are an infamous, raw, rock ’n’ roll band. Put the two together and the resulting album is a stream-of-conscious stew of wild, fuzz-drenched rock ’n’ roll! Some history: both Cheater Slicks and Bill Gage’s band Bill began in Boston in 1987, and it was sometime around then that Gage first sang with Tom and David Shannon playing guitars, in Gage’s bedroom in Laconia, New Hampshire. It was an intense and primal sound that was not forgotten by those involved. Gage’s singing has been compared to Captain Beefheart, David Thomas, Damo Suzuki, and Yoko Ono. However, Gage clearly has his own sound, which includes guttural yells, sweet crooning, and bluesy meanderings—all seemingly told from a tarpaper shack porch under the oceans of Mars. Cheater Slicks have from the start been a brain-melting rock ‘n’ roll dream / nightmare of a band. Steeped in the wild guitar interplay and pounding drums of classic noisy underground rock groups (Cramps, Scientists, Velvet Underground), they have created their own unique and ever-evolving style that has only gotten deeper and sharper over the years. In spring 2018, when Cheater Slicks were presented with the idea of a collaborative record with Gage, they wasted no time, and began writing and arranging new songs for the project. Gage traveled to Columbus to record at the legendary Musicol studios in November of that year. It was a great session and came together as if it were always meant to be. After thirty years of performing, is the world finally ready for Bill Gage—accompanied by the seismic Cheater Slicks? Spice singer Ross Farrar speaks of the band's ambition to forge a sort of aesthetic patois: a mode of expression as strikingly regional as it is recognizable. Last year's self-titled debut, released in the depths of the pandemic, fully achieved this goal, distilling decades of North Bay punk and post-hardcore into an urgent, artful set of emotive unrest. Their latest single, A Better Treatment b/w Everyone Gets In, further refines the group's singular mix of weathered melody and abrasive poetics, equal parts bracing, bruised, and cryptic. "A Better Treatment" began as a song about a friend who died but through the turmoil of collaboration transformed into something more macroscopic and opaque, blurring the boundary between hopeful and defeated ("I thought loving someone would cure my self-hatred"). Bass and drums build against walls of guitar while the violin threads its own melancholy within the noise; Farrar is blunt about the intention: "The violin is an instrument of death you know." "Everyone Gets In" is both poppier and more pained, an anthem for angst aging into the reverie of regret: "We lose our strength / along the way / we lose each other / the funeral sways." The tempo sways too, gradually slowing to an anxious crawl before finally revving back into a storm of shimmering guitar and splashing drums, fighting against the dying of the light. It's music of raw truths and rejected pedestals, storied but unswerving, a revolt against the great regress: "and my / my time is spent / adoring seasons / that I / I never should've."

Split Single from the garage combo of The Panturas and Sundancer sung entirely on their regional language. An exclusive 7” split from Indonesian surf-garage-rock behemoth The Panturas and Sundancer, hailing from Jatinangor and Lombok Respectively. It was the first series from their upcoming “"Singel Klub" series. "Lasut Nyanggut" by The Panturas their first song sung entirely in Sundanese language. The band appointed Ricky Virgana from White Shoes and The Couples Company fame to be their producer, and successfully produced a garage psych-surf-calypso with a mixture of traditional oriental sundanese pop aesthetics. The lyrics of the song itself paints a picture of someone fishing.The title itself is a popular term among fishing enthusiast on the western parts of Java. “Dedare Tanjung” or “Gadis Tanjung” roughly translates to “the girl on the cape”, was inspired from “Dark Eyes” a russian folk song and Ismail Marzuki’s very own “Panon Hideung” which is a song sung in Sundanese language. The band translates the song to their own mother tongue language which is the Sasak, a language that the band originated from.

These gigs were recorded to try to capture a live version of Slow Sad Love Song for the upcoming Birddog album that we recorded later that year.'

Adam Green and Kimya Dawson originally crossed paths at an open mic night in Mount Kisco, New York in the early 90s. From there they went on to record a surplus of home recordings with various friends under the moniker The Moldy Peaches, and eventually became staples in the NYC anti-folk scene of the late 90's/ early 2000's. After releasing several albums that gained traction in the U.S. and UK, the group broke into the mainstream when their song "Anyone Else But You" appeared in the hit indie film "Juno" (2007).

Origin Story: 1994-1999 is a collection of songs, unreleased demos, live tracks, and poems from the early years of The Moldy Peaches, and outline the tale of how the band came to be. Liner notes written by Adam and Kimya detail the stories behind each track and rare photos included in the packaging help to illustrate the life and times of the duo when they were young.
